  What a great ending to the series.
  
  A teenage girl is found dead. Later it comes to light that the crime scene matches the exact scene of a murder story of a famous writer. Then another girl turns up dead and another girl is missing. The dead girl is again found at a crime scene, exactly mirroring the murder scene of the writer's latest book. And Chief Cade is framed.
  
  This book was full of action packed suspense. I love guessing who the culprit is and love it even more when I don't know until the end. And this book kept me wondering right up till the end. I had two suspects, but kept going, okay he did it, no he did it, up until about 87% in, when I thought I knew. But then the revealing scene was also written in such a way that you wondered for a split second, okay maybe I was wrong, then you see you were right and you are thinking "I knew it!, and then, but why?
  
  I loved catching up with Blair and Cade and Morgan and Jonathan and a bit sad that I have to say goodbye.
  
  You can read this book as a standalone, but I would recommend starting with book 1. A lot happened to the characters during the series and for me reading it from Book 1 made me feel apart of their lives.
  
  Recommended for Christian fiction suspense series lovers!

  I thought the first and last books were the weakest of the series, but that doesn't by any means convey that I wasn't tied to the edge of my seat for this story, because I was! It's a good thriller with some weaknesses, especially in the believability of the police resources and other details.

  I got this book through BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review and it is a mystery so I was game for it. However, when I got the book I was not aware that it was book #4 in the series. So that was kind of annoying, but decided to read it anyway.
  
  In this book we have a murder of a young girl that takes place. And ex con, Sheila Caruso, discovers that the man she works for, an author named Marcus Gibson, has a scene in one of his books that mimics the crime scene of the recent murder in Cape Refuge. The story goes on from there.
  
  I thought the story had a great plot line and the mystery aspect of the story was good although I found that it was a little predictable. I just feel like I wanted more to it. This is a Christian fiction as well so there were a lot of religious undertones to the story as well and I think they were in there quite randomly. I feel like it took a little away from the story.
  
  I did not really connect all that well with the characters in this story. I did not have that feeling of really knowing who they were. I think that they were even unrealistic at points because everyone was nice despite who did what to who. And that is not how this world works. There were 2 antagonists in this story. The main antagonist was developed pretty well but the 2nd one was not really a substantial part of the story so I am not sure why he was even written into it at all.
  
  Overall I enjoyed the mystery aspect of the story and I can recommend this to anyone who likes Mystery if you don't mind the religious undertones or if you enjoy Christian fiction.

  Review of book 4, and then a review of the whole series.
  
  I absolutely loved book 4. It was my favorite in the whole series. There were literally twists and turns, suspense and mystery, from the beginning to the very end. The end actually took me by surprise. The entire family was in this book, as they have all been from the beginning of book 1. And I just love how the family has grown into what it has. I'm not going to spoil it! But this one had murder and abductions, and a slightly more creepy element than the others. High in suspense, you wont be getting bored with this one! Clean, nothing too graphic or gruesome. The faith based element was very light in this one. I absolutely loved this book and felt like Terri Blackstock ended this series so very well.

  If you love suspense, mystery and series that flow with the same characters throughout it, I highly recommend this one. Its about a family who lives on the water in a small town and runs a halfway house. This small town ends up with major mysteries as a series of events unfold throughout each book. As the series progresses, focusing on the main characters and people who live at the house, other people get grafted into not only the house, but the family. Each with their own issues and personalities they bring to the series. There's a faith based element throughout the entire series, that is well done. There isn't extreme gore and it isn't dark, although the fourth book had just a slightly creepy feeling with one of the characters. The series is about family, faith, love, hope, trust, and survival. It's about taking a chance on people, learning to trust after being devastated, keeping your heart open, and trusting those who love you, and trusting God. It's mystery and suspense and heart warming all at the same time! Highly recommend to Christian fiction readers!

  i’m so sad the series is over 😭😭😭 but i’m so glad to have read it! terri blackstock never disappoints with her books! i loved how there were some continuous plots that went on throughout the series as well as new ones! nothing else to say except it was so so amazing and everyone needs to read it 🤩

  A great end to the series! I think the crimes and mystery in this one was the scariest and most tense out of all of them (to me, at least) and so many twists and turns that even when I thought I predicted who was the culprit, I was surprised yet again. A very satisfying ending for the characters too.

  A series I recommend reading in order, as a lot of the background of this story happens in the previous 3 books.
  
  I've really enjoyed this series, and am sad to see it end. I loved being back once again in Cape Refuge and meeting back up with familiar characters, and getting to know some new ones.
  
  It's been lovely to see Cade and Blair's romance unfold during this series, and it was really special to see it end in a wedding...which ended in a typically Cade and Blair fashion, and put a smile on my face.
  
  Jonathan and Morgan are favourite characters of mine too and I've enjoyed seeing them grow as they've taken over running Hanover House. I'm so glad they got to see their dream come true.
  
  As for the suspense side, there are lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing who the murderer is...and to hope the characters figure it out before any more girls die!
  
  I highly recommend this series to those who love Christian Romantic Suspense.

  Terri Blackstock’s Breaker’s Reef provides another wonderfully suspenseful trip to Cape Refuge. I loved the chance to revisit characters I had grown to love in River’s Edge and see them in the midst of yet another murder mystery. From the start, I thought I had the identity of the culprit figured out and spent most of the book just waiting for the revealing to play out. However, Blackstock proved my original guess completely wrong with a few unexpected twists and turns. Though the ending seemed a bit abrupt to me and left me feeling betrayed by a character I wanted to like, Breaker’s Reef is still a very satisfying and surprising read, and I would recommend it along with River’s Edge. I can’t wait to read more from Terri Blackstock very soon.

  I haven't read a book that would be this bad in ages. I managed to make myself read about 180 pages of it. Then I decided to read the end, just to find out who the murderer was. If I could give this book minus stars, I would have given them! The reasons why I hated it, are (not in any particular order):
  
  1. The language used in this book was annoyingly naive or something like that. I don't know who to blame for this: the writer or the translator, but it was something I call "lässyn-lässyn" language... Finns understand what it is :D
  
  2. The constant talk of God and Jesus. I'm not religious at all, so it annoyed me quite a lot. If I had known this book is so religious, I'd have never borrowed it from the library.
  
  3. The way the writer described Sheila and Sadie. The writer obviously has no idea (hasn't done any backround investigation) how a life Sheila and Sadie had before changes people. I find it very unbelievable Sadie would be what she was described to be if she really had the life the writer described.

  This was a great conclusion for this series! This and the first book were my favorites from the series. This story line held more suspense for me throughout the book. I enjoyed the same characters of course but also the new ones introduced. I love the message of Christ within the pages, even during a murder investigation everyone's lives still continue on. Cade of course is knee deep in tracking down the murderer while trying to live his own personal life. Sheila and Sadie are in this book a lot and I enjoyed them more this book than any before.
  
  
  
  I think the murder case was intriguing and overall the end wraps up nicely with all of the characters.

  Sheila at 15 years old had given birth to a daughter. She was adopted and a year older than Sadie. Amelia comes to Cape Refuge in search of her birth mother (who is Sheila).
  Cade and Blair get married at book’s end.
  HEA for Sheila, Sadie and Amelia too.
  Morgan has a baby boy, Wayne :)
  There is loads of drama here .. but I did not like the plot as much as book 3, thus the rating.

  Im letzten Teil der Serie gibt es nochmal richtig viel Action und Spannung: Im beschaulichen Cape Refuge werden zwei Mädchen entführt und wieder einmal gerät der Polizeichef in Verdacht. Währenddessen lüftet Sadies Mutter Sheila ein dunkles Geheimnis aus ihrer Vergangenheit.
  
  Erneut hat es mich an die Küste des Städtchens Cape Refuge verschlagen. Nach drei Bänden kenne ich mich auf der Halbinsel bereits gut aus und genieße es jedesmal, das Polizeirevier oder das Hannover House zu besuchen, Blair bei ihrer Arbeit als Journalistin zu begleiten oder mit Sadie am Strand entlang zu gehen. Es könnte so schön sein, wenn nicht auch diesmal wieder dunkle Wolken am Horizont auftauchten: Eines Morgens entdeckt Nachwuchspolizist Scott im Bootshaus die Leiche eines Mädchens. Da der Mord einer Szene in einem Kriminalroman ähnelt, gerät schnell der Schriftsteller in Verdacht, der sich gerade im Ort befindet. Doch nach und nach tauchen immer mehr Zweifel auf, als zwei Mädchen verschwinden und eine weitere Leiche entdeckt wird. Und plötzlich häufen sich die Beweise gegen den Polizeichef des Städtchens.
  
  Wieder einmal konnte mich Terri Blackstock mit dieser Reihe voll überzeugen. Trotz mehrerer Verdächtiger und Motive war ich mir recht sicher, wer der Mörder ist, nur um am Ende voll überrascht zu werden. Ich bin durch die letzten Seiten nur so geflogen, weil es unheimlich spannend war. Ein richtig gutes Ende für die Reihe, die mir insgesamt sehr viel Lesespaß bereitet hat.
  
  Auch in diesem Teil spielt der christliche Glaube eine Rolle, wenn auch nicht so ausgeprägt wie bei den Vorgängerbänden. Hervorheben möchte ich an dieser Stelle aber auch das Nachwort der Autorin, das sich an jedes ihrer Bücher anschließt. Hier erfährt man viel darüber, was sie bewogen hat, die Bücher zu schreiben und welche Erlebnisse und Gedanken sie inspiriert haben. Es hat mir gut gefallen, dadurch mehr über die Hintergründe zu erfahren.
  
  Leider ist mit diesem vierten Buch die Reihe Cape Refuge beendet. Die Charaktere werden mir tatsächlich fehlen, da ich sie allesamt sehr ins Herz geschlossen habe. Vielleicht schreibt Terri Blackstock ja irgendwann nochmal einen fünften Band, der Jahre später spielt und erzählt, wie sich die Personen weiterentwickelt haben. Das wäre toll.
  
  Wenn ihr die Serie noch nicht kennt, dann fangt auf jeden Fall bei Band 1 an, da die Geschehnisse aufeinander aufbauen. Man kann sicher auch jeden Band einzeln für sich lesen und verstehen, aber dann entgehen einem sicher ein paar Feinheiten, die auf die Vorgänger anspielen.
  Empfehlenswert ist Cape Refuge auf jeden Fall für Christen, die gerne spannende Geschichten lesen, die sich mit dem Glauben und der persönlichen Weiterentwicklung beschäftigen. Ich finde es für Jugendliche und für Erwachsene gut geeignet. Die Fälle sind kreativ erdacht und laden zum Miträtseln ein. Für mich war es die perfekte Sommerlektüre und ich hatte viel Freude daran.

  Cape refuge is in a state of shock when one of their own teens in found murdered in a neighbouring town. Town life had seemed to be getting back to normal, it had been almost a year since the last murder occurred and the main thought on peoples minds were when cadets and Blair would finally take the next step. Sheila Caruso has just started her new job as a transcriptionist for Marcus Gibson, a famous murder mystery author. When she first considered as off putting little quirks soon seem to be far more sinister when she discovers the murder mirrors one of his books. When another girl turns up murdered and two more go missing, she's left wondering if the police are even taking this case seriously or of she's going to have to take matters into her hands.
  This book finally had some of the suspense that I've come to expect from a Terri blackstock book. It was well written and made you think one person was the obvious suspect, albeit in a subtle way, then have it turn out to be a surprise. This was a satisfying end to the series, but if she decided to write more it could still pick up just fine. All four of the books were written more or less as standalone books. The characters stayed the same throughout but reading only one of the books or reading them out of order wouldnt be confusing and you could easily pick up the story.

  A great story with a lot of action and romance. It kept you guessing and wondering, which I like. I listened to the audio book version. The only two negatives for this book were as follows:
  1. The scene where Sadie goes to the seeds hotel and speaks to the man at the neighbouring apartment. I don’t think anyone would make that foolish of a decision.
  2. That the bride did what she did at her reception. Just didn’t ring true at all.
  
  I have to be honest and say that it was very difficult to keep listening to this audio book. I nearly called it quits several times, but the story was good enough for me to grit my teeth and bear it. I’m sorry, but the narrator was pretty awful. Her voices for the women had bad accents and they all sounded like airy and very unintelligent. The male voices were just as poor and they also sounded very uneducated. I struggled with how to phrase this, but I don’t know how to deliver it without saying the truth. My apologies. This audio book would have been top notch with a narrator like Erin Bennet or Tavia Gilbert. Suspense and those voices were not a good match at all.
  
  Thankfully the book was strong enough to stand on its own. I would recommend that people get the actual book or e-book.

  This is #4 in the “Cape Refuge Series”. I am reading them in order. I just love the main characters. Enjoy getting to know them better in each novel. They are memorable and likeable ~ most folks I would want to know for real! Been anxiously waiting for Cade and Blair to get married so loved this ending!

  Terri Blackstock ~ this is novel 10 for me.
  Ms. Blackstock is a Christian Mystery writer. Not necessarily my typical genre; but I do love mysteries and I am totally OK with needing God's help.
  This novel as in most of her books has multi stories going on. Some of the stories are predicable but having read other Blackstock novels, I know she usually has some twists and so far has NOT disappointed me. Have to admit I hated that Matt was a bad guy

  The story started off with a bang (not literally; it was a death, or a body found), and never really slowed down. I found the characters well-developed and relatable. As it had been a while since reading the previous book(s) in the Cape Refuge series, it took me a bit to come back up to speed on who was who (esp. supporting characters such as Morgan, Jonathan), but this fit in well to the series. However, it would (mostly) make sense for someone who had not read the previous books in the series. The background of Sheila, Sadie, Cade, and Blair from previous books added richness. The characters lived out their faith, but were clearly not perfect.
  The only aspect I found a bit hard to swallow was that so many people made poor (dangerous) choices trying to investigate (or remedy) the situation on their own!
  
  The plot twists and turns kept me guessing until the end! A great book!

  What do you do when murders are being committed just as you have written in your books? That is the question facing one of the characters in Breaker's Reef. Everything points to his guilt, but is he guilty? You'll have to read this well-written inspirational suspense novel to find out. The characters in Cape Refuge have to figure out what is going on before anyone else dies. I couldn't wait to get to the end of this book and figure out 'whodunit'. It has been wonderful to see the characters grow and develop and to see how God moves in each of their lives.

  I enjoyed this suspense mystery in which a girl's body is found near Cape Refuge only to be followed by another in a place that implicates one of the protagonists in the story, the police chief Cade himself. I guessed who one of the killers was, but it was a guess -- least likely suspect. It was well done and suspenseful with a lot of heart and faith as Sadie searches for a potential third victim, the sister she never knew she had. Of course, she is slated to be victim number four, or haven't you guessed? Haha. Predictable but fun and worth it.

  So I finally got this one from the library and it was awesome! I enjoyed the wrap-up of this series and admit that I suspected a different character for the killer -- HA! I was fooled! I love when that happens NOW I did before the end figure out the whodunit, prior to it being completely done. I am very pleased with the relationship turns and that there is a possibility for another in the series. I have fallen in love with Blackstock's writing. I highly recommend this series to anyone.

  I got this book from a book swap in a country town petrol station. I didn't know it was the 4th book in a series. But this didn't take away from the book itself. I enjoyed it on it's own. If you like murder mysteries you will enjoy this book. The author writes about "flawed Christians in crisis and God's provisions for their mistakes and wrong choices". Had I read this first I may not have read the book. But it really didn't come across as a book with a lot of religion going on in it. I
