Ever After High: Once Upon a Twist: Cerise and the Beast (Fairy Tale Retelling, #2) Reviews

Another "mixed up" fairy-tale with my favorite characters. In this book Cerise and Dexter fell into "Beauty and the Beast" story where they had to find the way back to Ever After High.
An easy reading for relaxing and enjoying Ever After High characters.

As an early reading level chapter book it's ok. Your not going to get a bad message from the book. The fantasy slang is very annoying. It would probably be two stars if it didn't completely miss the point of the Fairytale Beauty and the Beast. It also has to misunderstand any other Fairytale to make the premise work. I remember why stuff like this and Monster High never really work for me. Even if we'd had this when I would have been the correct age demographic for it I don't think I'd have liked it. The 10th Kingdom is the only fantasy series I've seen that does The Big Bad Wolf gets a romance well, and even then it was weird. All I'm saying is that it breaks my brain to think that Little Red Riding Hood married the Big Bad Wolf. If you've read the original or seen the stage show of Into the Woods, then you know why this feels gross.

The only reason I read this in the first place was because both of my favorite EAH characters are leads in this story, but the execution of this novella was not as good as what I expected... I probably should've lowered my expectations 💔 but it was still a great story book for kids!

In order to get Adora to sit down and read for more than five minutes I read this book while Adora read Rosabella and the Three Bears. It ended up being a fairly cute elementary level Ever After High novel that was surprisingly enjoyable for me as well. I've been forced to watch enough Ever After High on Netflix that I appreciated the mention of Daring being Rosabella's Beast in this book which the season of the show, Epic Winter, alluded to originally.

In this book it's his brother Dexter who plays the role of the beast and Cerise, daughter of Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, who plays the role of Beauty. Which is cute because each suited the role of the other more. In the end it was a book about being comfortable in who you are.

Tomorrow we trade books and hopefully Adora retains enough of both to discuss them with me. All in all a book worthy of a night just reading next to my 7 year old daughter.

Ever After High: Diary of an Evil Queen: A Guide to Living Evilly Ever After), en este caso, Cerise y Dexter se encuentran, se dicen "Somos la Bella y Bestia", y fin. Nada pasa.

Pasa el día, y fin, vuelven a Ever After High.

I wish that I had been able to read the first book in the series before this. But these stories are hard to come by. Which tells me that people do not like to donate these stories after they are read! They are that good.

I like how there is a clear lesson to be learned. Cerise and Dexter both learn, that it is important, to learn to be the best true selves they can be!

"I think you're right," said Cerise. "We are pretty great when we're just ourselves. I say we stop trying to be Beauty and the Beast, and just be Cerise ande Dexter."

I hope to find the others in this series to read. Unfortunately, they are not in my library district.. so I will have to hope I can find them in a thrift store.

I enjoyed this book. This series is a lot different than the other books about Ever After High but they are still pretty good. I enjoyed reading about Cerise and Dexter in the story of Beauty and the Beast but I think it could have been done a little better. For one it still bothers me that the authors decided to change Daring's destiny and that was a huge distraction from this storyline. Also I didn't like the way this story ended with Dexter. The part with Raven was great but the rest of the ending with Dexter was sad as I wish it had ended a little differently. Overall I still enjoyed this book but I think it could have been even better with a few changes.

Really cute read. The message within was great. I will reread in the future.

  • Jennifer

    Cute book

I have always been a fan of Everafter High!

  • Kay

Turns out at the end of the story, Dexter wont remember the little bad secret Cerise has.

    This one was cute, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of putting Dexter Charming into the Beauty nad the Beast fairy tale. Though I'd make him the Beauty (which he kind of was, given his love for books and his kindness). Anyway it was nice to see Dexter teaching Cerise and vice versa.

There are mentions of Dexter being smart and able to fix things like lamps and making a dress (well, hood, but still). I'm glad the author didn't forget the nerdy side of this prince in order to remain on the fact he's shy.

I'm a bit sorry there was no rose-related time limit. You know a 'you have to finish this story before the last petal falls' kind of thing.

I wonder how would furry Beast!Raven look like. Such a shame the EAH book don't have any illustrations.

  • Yuiko

Pretty cute i liked it :)

It was a quick read only 106 pages. Ment for a much younger audience. But I am a sucker for a fairy tale even at my age. lol Loved this version of beauty and the beast even tho the characters involved wasn't suppose to be part of this tale. If you want to know what I mean read the blurb.
