5 stars – Contemporary Romance
Larissa Ione is one of my preferred authors, and her Demonica PNR series and ACRO erotic PNR series (co-written with author Stephanie Tyler under the alter-ego Sydney Croft) are two of my favorites, so it’s really not surprising that I would also love this contemporary romance story by her.
Snowbound is a steamy, heartwarming contemporary romance about two people who find emotional healing and second chances through a love that neither expected.
Robyn Montgomery is returning to her ski resort hometown to attend her class reunion and to prove to all the people who ridiculed her as a teen and made her adolescent life hell that she’s no longer the same awkward, geeky, insecure, shy, and overweight girl of the past. Now thin, beautiful, and successful with an established career in radio, Robyn is set to host her reunion’s celebrity charity event and plans to have her famous, popular, media mogul boss and ex-boyfriend, Damon, emcee the charity’s auction to show off her new and improved self to her high school tormentors. When Damon backs out on his promise to Robyn (yet again) and leaves her high and dry for the event, she has to come up with someone well-known to emcee the auction, and fast, or else risk being the laughing stock of her peers once again.
Sean Trenton is a world-famous skier and former Olympic silver-medalist whose quest for gold ended after a devastating accident that resulted in a career altering injury. Now working at the resort as a ski patroller and EMT, he’s trying to get his life back together and end a two year celibacy streak, which is an awful long time for the former bad-boy, playboy. When Sean meets Robyn, he reacts more strongly towards her than with any other woman ever before and feels an immediate connection and explosive chemistry to her, which is enhanced even more by the fact that she’s initially oblivious to his legendary past. He’s determined to get Robyn into bed and to win her heart, but he’s got his work cut out for him with a woman like her who has sworn off men, especially charming, celebrity playboy types like Sean who remind her too much of the failed relationship with her ex. Can he prove that he’s changed his bad-boy ways? Can Robyn overcome her deep-seated fears and insecurities and damaged self-esteem and learn to trust again and to take a second chance at love and happiness?
I really enjoyed this story, and I especially loved the hero Sean. He’s sweet, flirtatious, sexy-as-all-get-out, attentive, fun, adventurous, cheerful, caring, and has a great outlook on life, despite experiencing some tough personal struggles. He’s totally swoon-worthy and full of all kinds of hot, yummy goodness! The romance between Robyn and Sean is fun, sexy, slow-building, believable, and sweet, and the love scenes are electrifying and sensual. They both hold things back from each other and make mistakes in the course of their relationship, but it’s very realistic and makes the HEA that much sweeter.
It’s a hot, fast, sweet, emotional contemporary romance story with a great H/H that’s a very gratifying read. 5 stars! -
A fast read that I expected to be fun and sexy, but had a much more emotional draw than anticipated, this book would be good for those who enjoyed Jill Shalvis'
Instant Attraction.
Robyn Montgomery is returning to her hometown for her ten-year class reunion no longer the girl she used to me. Now she's thin, attractive, she has a great career, and a hot date. Until the date - her media-mogul-celebrity boss and ex-boyfriend - backs out of not only escorting her, but out of emceeing the charity auction Robyn has arranged as well. When she runs into him at the ski lodge she's staying at, she realizes that he had never planned to help her out even though he was going to be there to for the taping of a ski competition and that he was only using her. So she quits. And just like that, two of the four things she had going for her are gone.
Then she meets ski patroller and EMT Sean Trenton, a nice, sexy uncomplicated man - until she realizes that he's former Olympic silver-medalist skier Sean Trenton. And the last thing she wants is to be on the vestiges of a man's fame again. But Sean - who retired due to injury, but there's much more to the story - has seen a woman who has pricked his interest in the first time in two years, and he can't let this opportunity pass him by.
Even though the story only took place over a week or so, and it was a week in which everything in Robyn's life fell apart, I totally bought why she and Sean fell in love. Although I think Sean was a little stupid to #1 hide things from Robyn as he got to know her more and #2 to make any kind of agreement with Damon (Robyn's ex), he was basically a good guy who just wanted an umcomplicated life with Robyn, although he doesn't realize it until almost the end.
This was a fast, sweet story, and well worth the time. B -

HOT Erotica! Enjoyable and Fun Read.
I love how Larissa Ione writes. Once again she has captivated me with this story. The characters were perfect for each other and the erotica was HOT. I will definitely be reading more of this author’s books.
Sean Trenton is a well known Olympic champion but has since then given up his goal to compete again and now spends his time as a ski patroller and a EMT. It’s been two years since his battle with testical cancer and it’s time to get back into the swing again with the women but getting over his ordeal is a different matter along with the way his attitude towards life has changed him, the same ole type of women just doesn’t appeal to him anymore. He wants more, not just a fling; he wants the real thing for once. When Sean’s eyes fall upon Robyn Montgomery, his opportunity is knocking at the door.
Robyn Montgomery has become a successful Radio Station Manager since her days in High School and now it is time to return for the reunion but Robyn has something to prove to her class mates and host an auction to raise money for kids to ski. Robyn’s ex-boyfriend/boss (Jerk) has left her without an emcee for her auction. Robyn quits her job because of her ex-boyfriends/boss tactics and heads out into the bar where she meets up with Sean, a temptation she finds hard to refuse, a man who says and does all the right things but his own fame and popularity is what keeps Robyn from wanting anything to do with him.
The chase is on when Sean finds himself to get the one girl who doesn’t want anything to do with him. Robyn finds herself changing towards life and towards her high school class mates and suddenly having to prove herself no longer becomes important as she lets herself enjoy life and be with Sean.
Great story and a must read. It was a short and fast pace page turner. -
This is s romantic story about a woman named Robyn who works in the music business as an executive. When her boss Damon backs out of an event she has planned in her snowy hometown as the emcee for her high school reunion/ charity event she is devastated. She goes anyway with her girlfriend Kelly and hopes to meet some uncomplicated fling she can enjoy while she is there.
In walks Sean Trenton... an Olympic medal skiing champion who thinks Robyn is the hottest thing since sliced bread, but guess what? She doesnt want him! He's not uncomplicated!! He is the epitome of complication with sports endorsements and fame! But when she spots her old boss Damon at the event anyway, she is shocked and decides to give Sean the time of day...
They strike up some romance, but little do they know, there is going to be lots of drama and misunderstandings before the end of their little romantic interlude...
This book was cute, but there were a little too many misunderstandings and bruised egos for my tastes... plus no real sex happens until 1/2 or 2/3rds of the way through... This was more of a contemporary romance as opposed to erotica. I much prefer Larissa Ione's other novel- Pleasure Unbound- to this one... -
★★★½☆ So many good things in this earlier work by this talented author. Kind of neat to see how far she’s come. I enjoyed the characters and really felt I was out there on the slopes with them - or in the ski lodge - in some mysterious state that has an “internationally renowned ski resort.” Still, some of the lack of communication seemed like a way to lengthen the inevitable outcome.

Snowbound is a story about two people who must face insecurities due to their pasts before they can find happiness together. This book was quick and easy to read. Although it wasn't one of the best books I have read lately, I enjoyed the story, and felt empathy for both of the main characters. This book devotes much more time to the story than to hot intimacy, and I found it to be quite tame to be considered erotica.
Robyn Montgomery is going home for her ten year high school reunion in a ski resort town. Until the end of her college years, she was extremely overweight, and her school years were miserable because of the cruel teasing of her peers. Her professional sucess in working for a leading radio station gives her the confidence to go back and face her childhood, even leading her to chair the charity auction her class is having. Her insecurities start to come back when her radio personality boss and ex-boyfriend backs out on his promise to emcee the auction. Wondering what to do now, Robyn arrives home in a state of nerves and immediately meets a friendly, gorgeous member of the local ski patrol. She decides that a short fling might be exactly what she needs, but has second thoughts when she finds out that the handsome man is a former Olympic medalist. The last thing she wants is to be involved in any way with another man who is in the limelight while she stays in the shadows.
Sean Trenton's career as a professional skier ended after a terrible accident. The medical problems he has suffered have left him feeling inadequate as a man, and he has avoided physical intimacy for two years. After being asked to announce a ski competition on national television, he feels like his life is getting back on track, and knows it is time to face his fears regarding his physical imperfection. When Sean meets Robyn, he is immediately attracted to her, and knows he has to entice her into his bed. Sean needs to convince Robyn that he isn't interested in celebrity status any longer, so he doesn't tell her everything he is involved with.
Before Sean and Robyn become intimately involved with one another, they must both overcome their fears. As their physical relationship develops, Sean has to convince Robyn that what they have together is not just a fling. Sean hasn't been completely upfront with Robyn, and this leads to misunderstandings and mistrust. He must find a way to redeem himself and to show her that they have something worth keeping.
This book wasn't spectacular, but I found it to be a pleasant read. The physical relationship between the hero and heroine wasn't completed until two-thirds of the way through the book, so if you are looking for a book filled with steamy passion, you will probably be disappointed. -
Snowbound was really disappointing. It's basically a story about a girl who was teased as a teenager for being overweight and nerdy. She's now a successful, fit, adult and is hosting an auction during her high school reunion to show off her success to her former tormentors. The guy is a former Olympic skier, whose career was cut short due to an accident. He's now a ski patrolman and an EMT at the ski resort where the reunion is taking place.
Sean was absolutely great. Even though he made some mistakes where Robyn was concerned, he was a genuinely nice guy who seemed to learn from his past mistakes. Robyn was annoying as hell. Her insecurities were so numerous, it really bogged down the story. The book became boring, predictable, and sappy. Their love for each other didn't ring true and their happily ever after seemed forced. 2.5 stars -
3.5 stars
First of all Robyn Montgomery, the heroine, was a little annoying throughout the whole book. She was a fat and ugly teen turned fit, beautiful adult. She keeps referring to the teasing and pain she suffered as a teen, and the turns around and treats Seen, the hero, much the same way. You know judging a book by its cover and all. Get over it; you are a beautiful successful woman. WORK IT!
Second thing that bothered me...the ending. It was a tad abrupt. Yes everything is resolved and we get a HEA with the "I love yous", but I needed a bit more closure. A 2-3 page epi would've been nice. These two issues kept the book a 3.5 star read for me.
Now as far as the chemistry between Sean and Robyn. It was very hot. Sean was a total hottie that at one time was quite the ladies man and knew it, but seemed to yearn for something more meaningful. I could feel that right off. The sex scenes between these two scorches up the pages.
I am glad that I finally drank the Ione "Kool-Aid" so to speak. This overall was a good story and well worth the read. -
the overall book was really good. As one of the first written book by the author, this already show how great the writer Ms. Larissa Ione is. The book ending was a little too soon though... quite abrupt. I would have loved to know more. otherwise the book was really enjoyable.

I love Larissa Ione's style! She's one of my favorite authors, and it has taken me a bit to get to read this book. I was a bit skeptical about reading it, since it's not paranormal, which is what I'm used to reading from her. But I have to say she nailed it with this book. I wish she would write more stories in this genre!!!! Please, please, please! ;)
I felt a connection to the characters almost immediately, they are likeable and real, with normal issues in their lives and insecurities.
Robyn has to go back to her hometown for her 10 year high school reunion. She used to be the fat, ugly girl, who everyone used to make fun of, but she left her small hometown, went to Chicago and now has a great career in radio. But all of her insecurities come back when having to face her old tormentors.
Sean is a HOT EMT at the ski lodge in Robyn's hometown. But he wasn't always a nobody. He was an Olympic medalist until he had to retire for health reasons unknown. And due to these health reasons unknown he hasn't had sex in 2 years! His friend Todd tells him it's time to get laid, but Sean is just not feeling like being with his "old type". When he sees Robyn (opposite of what he would've normally gone for) he just knows he wants her and only her.
Their chemistry is HOT, he is sweet and considerate, and they both help each other through their issues and to confront their problems. It can get a bit emotional, but it was a really fun, steamy read! -
Snowbound is a contemporary romance novel.
Robyn Montgomery is a radio station manager and Sean Trenton a former Olympian skier turned ski patroller/EMT.
Robyn returns to her home town located near a ski resort for a school reunion. There she remembers many traumatic moments from her high school years. They meet at the resort and the attraction is immediate.
Sean was celibate for 2 years due to a medical problem. The celibacy went out the window after the two finally come to grips with coming to terms with each of their problems and putting things in to perspective.
This book was more of a romance than an erotica novel but well worth reading. We get a glimps of fear and sorrow the two characters face and how they deal with them in order to move on and lead a happy life. -
I love Larissa Ione's writing. She's just awesome.
Snow Bound has been sitting on my kindle for a while and I never got around to reading it. Out of the blur I decided to give it a try and didn't want to put it down.
It is obviously a lot less dramatic than her paranormals, but I loved it all the same.
The characters were lovable and I gotta say I kinda have a crush on Sean. A man that is part dare-devil, part womaniser and also has a huge heart always gets me.
Like the majority of contemp romance, it was predictable to a degree. But as I mentioned before. I really enjoyed it.
It was an easy, enjoyable read and exactly what I needed at the time. -
This book was truly a delight to read. Each of the characters have their own personalities, which truly show. Some will make you laugh, one will make you want to slap the crap out of him, and another's will make you fall in love with them. You will feel yourself cheering for Robyn & Sean. But each one has to face their own private demons before they can come together... or will the fear of facing them prove to be to much to bear. All love stories have to have trials and setbacks and this story is no different... What was different was the way Larissa set up those trials and setbacks... Just like the reality we all deal with... Larissa did a wonderful job of making you feel like you could be Robyn... or Sean... Or even Karen, lol! What a great story!

Snowbound was my first book I have read by Larissa Ione and I must say I was not disappointed.
Snowbound is about two people who both have to face insecurities to move on with life and love, a contemporary romance in which love is given a second chance.
Robyn Montgomery is a radio station manager who finds her way back to her home town to run an auction to make money for the underprivileged kids, when she crosses paths with Sean Trenton. He is a ski patroller- EMT very Handsome, muscular and popular and an Olympic star who has medals, and has won many hearts. Robyn is drawn to his good looks and sweet talk and swarve appearance and finds herself spending more time than she had planned with him. A fling that questions her motives and thoughts on relationships.
Sean is sweet, athletic and every girls dream- diffidently swoon material someone Robyn does not want to end up with, due to a previous relationship breakdown but someone she would definelty have a fling with. His popularity has her turning backwards, and he is questioning why she is not like the others women he has met previously. He finds himself questioning his original motives to get laid and now is drawn to her for all the opposite reasons he normally finds attractive in woman. Sean finds an attraction to Robyn he has never had before, and after being celibate for two years wants to woo Robyn and get her into bed and win her heart. But Sean being former playboy material- Robyn is unsure but Sean wants to change his ways and end his 2 year itch... A former accident has him no longer in the ski comps but doing still what he loves to do ski and help on the mountain slopes.
Robyn is full of insecurities from child hood and former boyfriend who ditched her as soon as his luck changed. She is sworn off men and does not believe that Sean is good for her except for a fling until the passion ignites.
Sean and Robyn find themselves trapped in a cabin after Robyn is lost on one of the ski paths, a night of passion will change everything. Or will it ?
I found this story to be full of romance, love and lust... Sean is definitely swoon material, hot, smooth, caring, and full of fun and laughter’s and knows how to give a girl a good time. His character suited him well, not over the top,but gorgeous and adorable and definitely witty. The romance between Robyn and Sean is hot, and full of lust, slow paced yet sexy. Their moment’s sexy and sensual, hair raising and definitely yummy. ** Lusty wink ** hawt !!!
They both make mistakes in their time together which will test their resolve and determine their future...
The storyline was smooth and consistent, no ups then downs, paced well with all blending well together. Just the right amount of descriptions to keep you wanting more in certain parts, and enough pace to keep you reading till then end. My interest was focused from front to back, I was intrigued the whole read, and read in one sitting.
A short read, sensual and sexy and characters that came across realistic in life, and with their love and insecurities. Something I can relate to. The surroundings realistic as well, great descriptions, with relation to all aspects of the book. Overall a love story I really enjoyed and was content with the ending and overall story and plot aspects. I felt nothing was missed out at all.
;) Look forward to more of Larissa's stories. -
After seeing other 4 and 5 star reviews, I'm wondering if we read the same book. I thought the romance between the two main characters was at best, lukewarm. The ending seemed forced.
Sean's plight seemed real enough and I know men are very sensitive about their manhood, so losing a testicle to cancer I'm sure was hard for him to digest, but not life ending. I think his reactions to that loss were a little overboard.
Robyn definitely had issues with her her former life as a big person, unpopular with her classmates and teenage acne. But she's changed - she's lost the weight and found a great job and life. To still be hanging on to that hurt 10 years later seems juvenile.
But hey, the cover is gorgeous. -
Light and erotic. Emphasis on light. And erotic. Seriously, just expect this to be a light fluffy fun read with some serious sexy times and you'll finish it with a nice naughty smile on your face. We can discuss how Sweet Valley High-ish are the misunderstandings and how too much too soon things develop to be believable, but that's not in keeping with the light and erotic mood you have to be in to truly enjoy the story. The key is expectations. Set them right and set them well. Besides, Larissa Ione is a great writer so you know this is going to be worth the read.
-
Really good! I loved the connections between the main characters!! I would read again.
-
Creó que ya lo había leído jajaja es un libro para pasar una buena tarde leyendo, nada demasiado profundo pero tampoco una mala historia.
-
This is one of Larissa Ione's early works and I think her writing style in this book is much less developed than in her later works. There are no vampires, demons or dragons and the lack of paranormal romance leaves the book lacking. It is a relatively predictable love story centered around a couple at a ski ranch. The bad guy, Damon the radio boss, is definitely bad and nothing changes in that character throughout the novel. The hero, ex-Olympian Sean, is mildly complex, mostly stemming from his history of [spoiler alert] testicular cancer and a complete inability to have a serious relationship with any previous woman in his life. He has no practice and has to learn not to be an asshole. Practicing with the heroine takes some knocks.
Contrary to other reviewers, I liked the heroine. Robyn was previously heavy and not attractive and has some insecurities related to her being treated like a spitoon in high school. She is back in that awful environment and (you guessed it) it is triggering her insecurities. She and Sean have to work through their respective hang-ups before they can get to their happy ending.
The plot is trite and predictable, the characters (except for Sean and Robyn) two-dimensional, and the sex scene (there is one about 2/3 though the book) cliche. However, it did put me to sleep on the five nights it took me to finish and thus gets two stars. Rating criteria is low for bodice-ripper fiction and this one met the bar. -
A Snowstorm, A Cabin...A Fire... Yes Please!
This is my first book by Larissa I one and it won't be the last. This is a stand alone story that is easy to read and you hate to see it end!!!
He was an Olympic skier, good looking and talented, never at a disadvantage for a beautiful woman on his arm until one event ended that lifestyle for him.
She was the ugly duckling in high school; frumpy, overweight and overlooked who is now slender and as beautiful on the outside as she has always been within.
He ex-boyfriend continues to use her to get what he wants to further his own career until that last straw broke her down canceling their last minute plans which would make her feel valued at last. She decides to carry out her plans and she meets this ski patrol EMT that would not only rescue her from the storm, but change the rest of her life as well.
I was truly saddened when this book ended....I wanted to be a part of everything that was surely to follow. Very enjoyable book!!!! -
A contemporary romance focusing on Robyn Montgomery and Sean Trenton. It begins in Chicago and ends in a ski resort town.
My Take
This was cute, unexpected from the author of
Demonica and
Lords of Deliverance, but cute and just a tiny bit melodramatic. It's also very clichéd what with the gorgeous guy who gets taken up by his celebrity. I think the celebrity aspect merely brought out the jerk in him. Then there's the gorgeous hunk who thinks the "ugly duckling" is gorgeous herself, and he makes all the nasty bitches at the reunion jealous.
Why couldn't Damon get his own interview with Rolling Stone? Why would Damon cancel her radio ads to "crush her" when he only fired her that weekend? As for "just having sex"…? Oh, please. So she has a fling with another famous guy who gets his face all over billboards. It's a frickin' fling! It's not supposed to be important. Robyn just wants to have sex for gosh sakes. Not have a long-term affair.
I do like that Sean enters into the spirit of what Robyn needs, and that's before Damon gets ahold of him. I also enjoyed his acknowledgement of his past sexual activity and that he wants something deeper.
Ione does a good job of stringing it out, holding back the knowledge of what truly did happen. I also liked her characterization of Sean. He is such a sweet guy, even if he is concerned about getting back into sports. Robyn. Well, Robyn bugs me. I can certainly understand why, but geez must she be so true to life? I can't believe I just said that…"…that ten years later, you still act like you're in high school."
I can understand how a lifetime of childhood torments can affect your perspective for the rest of your life, but I can't understand her letting her non-relationship with Damon color how she sees Sean. For one thing, Sean isn't anything like Damon from the start. And it's only a weekend!
Ione working up to both characters baring their souls was nicely done with great rationalizations. Exactly the kind we need to pump up our own courage! That and ignore your parent(s) when they're stupid.
The Story
It's Sean's big chance, announcing the ski competition on national TV, and he won't let anything mess that up. Not even his need to get past this dry spell.
Robyn can't count on her boyfriend's word, and now she's in big trouble. Just when she really needed to make a big impression.
And Damon? He's got a multitude of nefarious plots going.
The Characters
Robyn Montgomery is a successful radio station music director who is supposed to be coordinating the auction for her high school reunion. Her parents, Gretchen and her dad, own Hausfreunde, a bakery in her hometown. Her parents bought the old Delaney hunting cabin. Greg (he works for an airline) and Joe are her brothers. Karen is her best friend now.
Sean Trenton was an Olympic competitor in skiing until his accident. Now he's an EMT and works ski patrol at the resort. Norbert is his cat. Todd Davis is his best friend and one of the very few who know the truth. Shelley and Miranda are his younger twin sisters. His mom is a fourth grade teacher; Dad coaches college football. Samantha is his agent.
Fellow students from Albert McKinney High School include…
…Gigi Anderson — Sean sees her as a cougar, Robyn sees her as one of her cruelest tormentors along with Heidi, Felicia, and Janice Hunter. Rochelle Saxony had been okay. Robyn is supposed to be working with Linda on the auction.
Earl is a bartender at the Moosehead Pub. I think Patrick is part of the patrol. Mitch is a six-year veteran. Jason Freeman is a fellow commentator. Ski-Do funds ski trips for at-risk and underprivileged kids.
Brad Hardy is Robyn's friend at Rolling Stone magazine. George "GeeWiz" Walker is a famous video jockey in L.A. and Robyn's good friend. Mike Anderson is with KREX in Los Angeles. Donny J is a possible emcee.
Damon Slade is her jerk of a boss — and her ex-boyfriend — who owns a big chunk of Mogul Media. Lisa is his? the station's? secretary.
Jenny was Sean's disastrous girlfriend. The mega-pierced Freak is the guy Karen hooks up with.
The Cover and Title
I get cold looking at this cover. Oh, Sean's open red ski patrol jacket and that glimpse of his naked chest is hot enough, but then I think ski, and I get chilled all over.
The title reflects what happens before the reunion when they're Snowbound. -
Super sweet story. Sean was just great; I found him to have a great personality and he was sweet and sexy all at the same time. I liked Robyn too, but I wish she hadn't been so insecure about herself. I found it held her back just from living her life to the fullest. I liked how they healed each other though and when they both made mistakes, they each lived up to it. It was nice to see apologies from both sides and made it more of an equal relationship.
-
Overall, a good read. It is very different than anything I've read from her before, and you can tell it seems like an earlier writing piece.
-
2.5 Stars
-
Even when this book is classified as an erotica's story, I found it less hot than some romance I have read, I liked it very much though
-
So much chemistry
The steaminess from Sean and Robyn was snow melting worthy. Their chemistry brought them together hard and fast their lies about tore them apart. -
While an enjoyable modern romance, Snowbound (written in 2007) did not live up to the expectations I have of this author based on her paranormal Demonica series (started in 2008.)

Good book.

Lecture toute une Aventure
Fabulous… I took it first to past time but I devoured the book in less than an hour…. It’s really a wonderful story and I do recommend it… Larissa Ione has a wonderful written style, clear and easy but even more I was touched by the message in this story. It has steamy scene… really steamy one but for me it was mostly a sweet story about acceptance and trust.
Both main protagonists have trouble with self esteem…. Robyn because she was harassed during her childhood because she was obese and studious…she grew up, lost weight, got a good career however when it’s time for a reunion with her tormentor she wants to prove herself and is stressed to the point to be ill. So when her ex boyfriend and boss, Damon, cancel his participation to the auction she is organising there at the last minute, it’s the disaster for her even more when she see him there….and understand he is just using her and her contacts to have a interview of importance.
Sean Trenton had it all… fame, success, money and groupie available for flings as soon as he wanted…but his dream of winning the gold medal at the Olympics crashed when he received terrible news… and had an accident nearly voluntarily. Now that his sport life is behind him and 2 years later he is healed…having a job as a skiing patroller and paramedic but that part of his life left sequels and Sean doubt himself, refusing to date a woman since he is maimed in his opinion. He is afraid of rejection, when his friend Todd encourages him to date again, he resist until he met Robyn…she is the total opposite of the women he dated in the past and worse she is not jumping on him ignoring his past fame. Worse, when she does learn about his past exploit she is even more determined to avoid Sean. Without realist why, the hot skier is even more determined to have her and to help her.
Now to be honest, if I do regret something in this book is that part about “fling”, one stand etc…for me sex is not a game and it must hold significance so I can’t assent to this attitude.. I do understand that Todd wants Sean’s happiness but urging him to have “ fun” instead of finding love isn’t something I approve of. I’m realistic and I do believe this behaviour to be common with celebrities and groupies but still… however Larissa Ione managed to make me forget about that during my reads. Immersed in the story, I enjoyed Robyn reservations but I was sad it was because of lack of self esteem and fear… Sean soon get really involved even if he doesn’t recognise it immediately. He is honest in his approach even if he is not telling her all the truth… and he does go against Damon, who I really dislike a lot, the horrible egoistical, abusive man.
Both of them are hurting and in love unfortunately their doubts and fears nearly destroyed their chance until they get stuck in a storm .. then… alone in the world they are about to open their heart about the source of their fear and I enjoyed this intimacy, the sweet approach and the acceptance that happen then… not everything is on the table yet but the story take another level.
It’s really a wonderful reads that I recommend if you are looking for a sweet romance with steamy part^^…and perhaps this book will make you love yourself a little more too as a bonus because none of us is perfect but each of us can be deserving. -
Sean Trenton, had an accident two years ago that ended his Olympic skiing career as well as his love-life. The evening Sean was ready to end his celibacy...he met Robyn Montgomery.
Robyn Montgomery, never quite outgrew the ugly, fat high school girl within the beautiful, smart bomb-shell she is today. Robyn's returning to her childhood, ski-community, home for her 10 year high school reunion & auction event...which she volunteered to orchestrate. Upon finding out that her (famous) ex-boyfriend, canceled to be her date and emcee of the high-school events, at the last minute...Robyn decides she can get a replacement emcee and have a fling...She meets Sean while waiting for her hotel room upon arrival.
Even though Robyn is the exact opposite of EVERYTHING Sean has ever been attracted to, that's who he wants to break his celibacy streak with. To Robyn, Sean's perfect...he's low-key, as in not famous; he's sexy and a living, breathing, walking version of all her fantasies since puberty kicked in.
What a perfect combination for a week long fling...except...one of them wants more than a fling and the other wants something simple and uncomplicated.
SPOILER ALERT*****
Sean's character was easy to relate to. He wasn't super perfect, but flawed just enough to be... PERFECT. He lied to Robyn and he used her...but he knew what he wanted, and when the poop hit the fan, he dug in his heels with a single minded focus to win...and win BIG!
I think Robyn was a bit shallow. I guess because I'm about 10 years older than her character that I can't relate to how she could make such a big deal about her ten year high school reunion--but I understand the sense that she needed to prove she's successful, made it, and that she had a life worthy of everyone's envy to the people who thought she'd never amount to anything.
Her relationship (or lack of one) with Damon was understandable...but her character's behavior is an example of "damaged goods". She took out Damon's short-comings on the next guy in her life...Sean. It would have been nice to see a woman have the bad experience, understand that all men are not created equally, learn from her experience then move on. In this case, fame turned Damon into a lying, cheating, coward...Robyn should have been able to give Sean a chance to explain his wrong-doings instead of punishing him, because his reminded her of Damon. Who's to say that Sean would have turned into a lying, cheating, coward if he became famous again...especially since he has Robyn as his guiding star/compass.
In the end. This was a great book and I would definately recommend this book.
