Morality as a Biological Phenomenon: The Presuppositions of Sociobiological Research Reviews
-
This is an old book from a conference that was sympathetic/in favor of sociobiology. The problem is, however, that it contains passes at philosophy that are very ill conceived at a basic level. It basically sits in the error that you see when you look at a Frans De Waal-type character, which is to say the authors seem to be unaware of the naturalistic fallacy. If we're looking at what animals are by nature, and the resulting social engagement, we can't justifiably find certain "chemicalings" to be moral and others to be immoral. Morality requires volition.
