3.5 SELF DEFENSIVE STARS
"I’m going to own her.
Not just on the mat.
I knew the minute she walked in this door that I was going to make every single inch of her mine."
So this book was about an ex Marine Security Guard with the Special Forces. He had Supposedly protected some of the world’s most elite people.
This hero was about 40 years old but he had a smoking hot body and he was going to teach our young heroine all the "right" moves (wink wink).
In his new self defence class he was offering!
The heroine was ready to learn his moves and signed right up. He was dangerous and she was hooked. She thinks
"I was already fantasizing and I hadn’t even signed the waiver yet."
She was going to keep up with him and get his body under her wondering hands.
She wanted to finally know what it really felt like to be pinned down to the mat by his bigger masculine muscular weight!
Now, these two do this dance of holding and teasing for about two months until he finally grabbed her up and pinned her down and up and down and up!
Honestly, it's just hot!!!
Now with all this going on why not 5 stars!?
Simply for the fact that we only get one sex scene and it was towards the end and it all just ended with an epilogue three years later that was sweet but lacklustre.
It was just a sweet book about an older guy and a young woman.
The drama was small and the sexual tension was high.
Enjoyable and worth a read.
I would recommend to those who like older men and young women romance without too much sexual content.
Safety is good hero was celibate for a while years and the heroine was a virgin. The nice but not too shy type. NO DRAMA OR CONDOMS. I assume she is protected however no oops pregnancy here. -

I like this one better than the first book. I'm still not as connected to the characters as I want to be but it's better. And I love the epilogue and extended epilogue. It's like another person is writing the epilogues.
The story is about Jack and Ava.
He's a former Marine and now owns a gym. Ava's a college student, studying Political Science and Criminal Justice.
She takes a self-defense class and he's the instructor. There's no question they want each other and after a few months, they become a couple.
There's an epilogue and extended epilogue.

Not as good as I thought it would be
This is the second book to this series which could be read as a standalone because the characters from the first book didn't appear in this one. This was a short story, but the way it was write really felt like it was a LONG and very boring story.
There were parts that I started skimming though. I think it was the writing bordered on being a bit flowery. The author tried to pepper it with some dirty talking from the hero, but the way the dialogue was written really felt awkward.
I also didn't like the bit of repetitive that was going on during the character's internal dialogue. It wasn't word-for-word repetitive since it was phrased differently but I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over about how he wanted her, etc. A lot of the extra words could've been cut to make this short story even shorter.
Unless I see that ratings for the next books get better on Goodreads or Amazon I probably won't be reading anything from this author again which is too bad because I really love the covers - the ONE thing the author got right! I guess you really shouldn't judge a book by its cover. -
Remember what I said about Sylvia Fox's series and her books that are the same that goes for Flora Ferrari's series A Man Who Knows What He Wants. Each one of these books has an older man and a younger woman romance in the story. A couple of differences that I found between Sylvia Fox's stories and Flora Ferrari's was that hers tend to have a slower build-up to the sex part and has her characters doing the whole get-to-know you spin first. There is also a bit more going-on from the Male POV as well. In Veteran, we meet Ava who is learning self-defense at the local gym after a stalker ex-attacked her. Her tutor is Jack an ex-military man and twenty years older than she is. Reading the book, I had a Gibbs character in mind, but when I think about it if Ava is in her twenties, then that would make Jack only in his forties. During the book, they both start lusting over one another and wham bam they have sex and become an HEA couple, not without a bit of word though between Jack and Ava's father who's not happy about his little girl dating someone his age. If you are looking for an Erotic romance with an older man/younger woman romance, then check out Flora Ferrari's book Veteran today.

And I just realized that I can't read/skim more than one of this author's books in a row. The first one was a palate cleanser. The second one was boring. I probably would've liked this one more had I not just read another one right before. As it was, I liked that the H was celibate for a long time, but the insta-lust/love was a bit too underdeveloped to be enjoyed or believed. I liked that they waited two months, which is "a really long time" in Romancelandia before becoming intimate, but all the thoughts on sex and then the actual act took up way too many pages in this short. Finally, I don't really like to read stories that feature an H who is twenty years older than the h. I mean, that might be cool when the h is 20, but I'm not sure about it when she's 40 and he's 60. Just a thought. -
This was a good short story. Ava is at Jack's gym. They are instantly attracted to each other. Her parents of course don't approve. Then she is attacked and he saves her life. Needless to say, they then got their HEA.

at 15% the MCs are still paused at their first meeting before even opening their mouths. The author is still busy writing paragraphs about his muscles and what each of them think of the other. -Yawn-. -
I loved Jack and Ava's quick read which was hottttt, OTTA insta-love; May/ December Romance. From the time she walks into Jack gym he knew she was his one and he her one. Jack was a very protective former Marine so once a Marine, always a MARINE... SEMPER FIDELIS!!!! Ava, a college law student who excels greatly in her course work but needed to take a self defense class because of a guy who had stalking her.
Jack trains Ava well and one thing lead to another and they become a devoted loving couple. Everyone not happy for Ava-- her sporadic out of work Dad but with time... it's a HEA for all in this tale.

Ava is a college student but needs self defense classes when an ex stalks her. She meets Jack when he becomes her instructor for the class. Jack is instantly drawn to Ava but doesn't want to scare her off so tries to stay professional with her. He makes his other student takes his other classes so he can be one on one with Ava. During their times together their attraction starts to grow and even Ava has a hard time keep her hands off of him. One night Jack couldn't help himself and he claimed his woman. Ava's father wasn't happy when he learned about them but Ava wasn't losing Jack the only man she felt completely safe and secure with. Will they be able to survive the obstacles they face?
This is a steamy story about an older man claiming his woman who happens to be younger than him. The chemistry between them sizzles with each turn of the page. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

In this book we meet Ava and Jack. Ava comes into a gym hoping to learn some self defense moves. Jack agrees to train her. Ava knows that she has a hecktic schedule with school being a high priority but she is determined. Jack is impressed with all Ava is trying to do in her life. Though both feel a spark on that very first day neither acts on it. However the more time they spend together the more they want the other. Can this be a HEA or will it just fizzle out if the heat is given into?
This is a hot book that has a great story-line. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about however I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. -
Jack is retired military who just started his own gym. He has never had time for a woman in his life until Ava walks into his gym. Ave wants to learn to protect herself after an ex friend started threatening her. For the first time she is drawn to male even if he is old enough to be her dad. Boys her own age don't appeal to her. The sexual tension builds and builds over a couple of months of hands-on self defense sessions. Then one night it explodes and Jack claims Ava as his own forever. He doesn't care what anyone else thinks.
I love this story about a man who goes after what he wants. It is a great insta-love story and very passionate.

Ava and Jack
Ava decided she needed self defense classes not only to help her defend herself if needed but also to boost her self esteem. The last thing she expects is to find herself attracted to the older semi God that is Jack. Jack is 40 years old and after spending years protecting high profile people all over the world, he decided to retire and open a gim for warriors like him that don't mind bruising and pain. The last thing he expects is that a curvaceous woman to crush down into his life. I felt a bit let down with this book. The premise of the story was good but it didn't lived up to my expectations. It felt a bit rushed and in some parts, a bit discombobulated. -
Well this story is like the others in this series, quite short, I think it took me about 2 good hrs to read through... But amazingly the story does not really suffer because of that. It is a special trait to be able to write shorter stories like this one and not having the shortness affect the quality of the story. It has quite a good story line, quite good leading characters, and hardly any besides that... But I liked it, even though it had a few typos, but that is also why I gave three stars and not four. Besideds the story itself is just hardly worth four stars, it is really more a three star story.

A well written short romance with nice storyline and plot. I like it is written in dual POV because that gives the reader more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters and brings the story closer to the reader.
Likeable characters with great chemistry. It is a simple story but it suits this couple. He has a gym and he has been saving himself for a long time. But when he sees her he knows that she is it for him. Can they get over the agegap and have their HEA?
A enjoyable and quick read. One that I only can recommend. This is one of the first stories from Flora Ferrari. But she has developed her stories through her years as an author and I have her on the top of my list. -
This was another winner by Flora Ferrari. Jack is ex-military Special Forces and now owns his own gym. Ava is taking his self - defense class. She is younger than Jack and in college studying criminal justice and political science. Jack is close to twenty older but when he first sees Ava he knows one thing for sure- she belongs to him. Only Ava doesn't know it yet but she will very soon! Ava is very attracted to her instructor as well. The longer they train together, the thicker the sexual tension becomes. Absolutely;utely devoured this book and I definitely recommend.

A really exciting and captivating older man, younger woman romance! The plot and characters are well developed; the pace is smooth and relatively fast. There is drama, intrigue, and ups and downs. The sex scenes are hot and off the charts – the chemistry Jack and Ava is instant, off the charts and will melt your kindle. A really powerful read.

Slow burn...
This is a wonderful May/December romance with the OTT, possessive Alpha hero one expects from this author. While I loved the story, I think it was a little slower paced than Ms. Ferrari's usual stories.

A nice older man younger woman romance - when Ava walked into Jack's gym she didn't realize her life was about to change. From the second he saw Ava he saw the maturity in her and having gone celibate for years he wanted her. Will the difference in their age not leave them with a happily ever after.
Great job Flora on a sweet romance that give you goose bumps.
