As kids, Terrell (TJ), Money, and Percival (PC) Turner had one goal - become big time preachers. But once they accomplish that goal, heading up One World Faith; the largest church in the Southeast, the best friends battle on just how they should be leading their flock.
TJ is living up to his name and looking to capitalize on a congregation more than willing to shell out big bucks for a man of God. Percival tries to walk the straight and narrow, but soon the lure of the bling leads him astray.
Can either one survive? When PC tries to right his wrong ways, the battle lines are drawn and best friends will see sides of each other that they never knew existed. Soon, TJ gets down and dirty - pulling up every trick and devastating secret to keep his holy money train rolling.
Will Percival learn the hard way that TJ is a sinner who doesn't want to be saved? And if he does, will it be in time enough to stop tragedy from turning his own life upside down? When the dust settles, someone will definitely be singing the Preacherman Blues.

    Book Description:

PREACHERMAN BLUES is the story of:

    "Best friends...Mega preachers…One good….One evil….

As kids, Terrell "TJ" Money and Percival "PC" Turner had one goal – become big-time preachers. But once they accomplished that goal, heading up One World Faith; the largest church in the Southeast, the best friends disagree on just how they should be leading their flock. TJ is living up to his name and looking to capitalize on a congregation more than willing to shell out big bucks for a “man of God”. Percival tries hard to walk the straight and narrow, but eventually the lure of the bling leads him astray.

    Can either survive?

When PC tries to right his wrong ways, the battle lines will be drawn and best friends will see sides of each other they never knew existed. Soon, TJ gets down and dirty – pulling up every trick and devastating secret to keep his holy money train rolling. Will Percival learn the hard way that TJ is a sinner who doesn’t want to be saved? And if he does, will it be in time enough to stop tragedy from turning his own life upside down? When the dust settles someone will definitely be singing the Preacherman Blues.

What I liked about the novel....

Yes, this was a very interesting read in the world of mega churches. This was a very captivating story of these two childhood friends who were now pastors of the largest churches in Atlanta which was a dream to have their ministry and it was called 'One World Faith. AME.' I loved how this author was able to bring it all out front and center to the reader when we find from the read that one pastor was really trying to serve God and his people and then there was the other pastor who definitely was not showing his vindictiveness in all of his actions. It seems like when they become rich from their congregation that 'greed' will become very ugly front and center. What will happen when one of the pastor try to right the wrongs that are taking place in the church? There will be so many twist and turns in the read so get ready for: some 'manipulation, deception, murder, adultery, suspense, greed, lust' and I am sure there is more to add to this list. Be prepared to laugh and even cry at some of the situations that will go on with these colorful characters. To get it all from this author you will have to pick up "Preacherman Blues" to see for yourself how this story will all come out. Believe me, this novel will be very interesting page turner that I would recommend.

    Devil in the Pulpit

Bishop Percival Turner (PC) and his associate pastor, Terrell Money (TJ), have been friends since they were children. Percival loves TJ like a brother and has openly shown TJ the extent of his love. Unfortunately, TJ hasn't done the same. While church is a business to many, Percival is different. He isn't playing the role of a preacher, he is a preacher.

TJ is not truly a man of GOD. TJ's real actions are proven as he's using church money to try to gain property that they need for a new development. Money's goal is to have the largest church without any regard for who will suffer behind his vindictive acts. How much more will PC encounter before his eyes are truly opened to his friend?

"Preacherman Blues" by Jihad is an excellent read. With each page you want more and more. My only complaint is that the sequel won't be released until 9/9/09.

Preacherman Blues by Jihad was definitely an interesting read. It was a glimpse into the world of megachurches. TJ Money and Percival Turner were childhood friends whose lifelong dream was to become pastors of the biggest church in Atlanta. Their dreams came true and their ministry was called One World Faith. Over time, the men became very rich and it was at the expense of their loyal congregation. All hell breaks loose once greed comes into play. Overall, this was a good read. It was full of all kinds of twists and turns and surprises, but the authors style of writing made it hard to get into in the beginning. It took a couple of chapters for me to get used to the authors style and flow. There is a sequel, but I doubt that I will buy it. I may read it if someone else buys it, because I am a little curious about what happens to the characters.

PC and TJ are life long friends who would die for each other or so one of them thinks until things start to go all wrong. As I read the book I was a little confused. Some pieces did not fit together. It was a real page turner but I was little disappointed with PC being so naive and TJ being so sneaky and devious. There were a lot of twist and turns mainly all for the bad. Normally the good guy always comes out on top but not in this book. You have to read it for yourself to see the outcome.

This book was great!! I have to give Jihad credit where credit is due. I met him at the Black Expo in Indianapolis and he told me I would NOT be disappointed with Preacherman Blues 1 and I wasn't. This book has mystery, excitement, things that challenge YOUR mind and so much more.

Preacher Man Blues is an interesting story. I will be reading the next book in the series. It is not a church bashing story but truly a story about two men and the lives they impact with their actions.
