Ashita no Joe (Ashita no Joe #08) Reviews

Ennesimo taglio del peso disumano per Rikishi, con la famigerata scena del suo delirio dovuto alla sete, oltre all'epico e tanto atteso confronto con Jo, dai risvolti tragici.

I'm quite surprised to be the first one writing about this volume. Although it is somewhat understandable, as there is no physical copy of it in English so far. As for the digital fanusb, that's entirely different matter...
The eight volume in this rather fast-moving series (at least as the manga trend goes) may be the fulfilment of every reader's expectations: a full-on, no holds barrel fight between Joe and Riikishi, that goes on for the whole volume and culminates with a truly surprising twist. It would be a sin to reveal it, so let'sjust say it is a true turning point for the whole series!
There is a lot of depiction of some amazing fighting techniques, some of which I doubt to be existing in the real world, but not being an expert, I can't really say. The point is that it all looks fabulous. The manga also shines when it comes to character development. Joe is giving his all during the fight, as it was expected, but Riikishi is proving to be even more dedicated, undergoing truly shocking transformation to be able to defeat his nemesis (just look at his depiction on the cover!). The blood, the sweat, the sacrifice - all is here, vividly depicted by Tetsuya Chiba and masterfully plotted by Ikki Kajiwara. Volume 8 is so far the most emotionally envolving volume of the series, but will it be also the best? Hope I'm going to find out real soon!

Absolutely phenomenal volume, probably the biggest turning points for this series going from being a pretty solid boxing manga into "OK I get why this is one of the most respected manga in all of Japan"
The big match and the aftermath are incredible for pretty obvious reasons but the start is also extremely strong, really shows off how much both participants are willing to put themselves through hell and back if it means they'll have a good boxing match against each other even if what they're doing is flat out dangerous
I was spoiled about the very end of the volume but I didn't know how we got to that point so the ending of the match floored me, was not expecting that in the slightest and those final couple pages are just *chef's kiss*
Also the ending still hits hard as fuck even if you got it spoiled like I did (thanks google)

Pretty decent manga, the story wasn’t to great and a little dull but the boxing matches were really great and awesome especially the final one😻👌🥊🥊
