In the years 1942 to 1948, Le Corbusier developed a system of measurements which became known as "Modulor." Based on the Golden Section and Fibonacci numbers and also using the physical dimensions of the average human, Modulor is a sequence of measurements which Le Corbusier used to achieve harmony in his architectural compositions. Le Modulor was published in 1950 and after meeting with success, Le Corbusier went on to publish Modulor 2 in 1955. In many of Le Corbusier's most notable buildings, including the Chapel at Ronchamp and the Unite d'habitation, evidence of his Modulor system can be seen. These two volumes form an important and integral part of Le Corbusier's theoretical writings.

Le Corbusier: Le Modulor and Modulor 2 Reviews

Interesting. Filled in some gaps in my understanding of Corb's thinking, but it's a slog. There's only so much I care to read about the process of creating a proportioning system. He narrated the math. Skipped entirely the experience of doing this project in Vichy France, but spent dozens of pages explaining exactly how many times he drew the same rectangle. Priorities man. Seriously.

    Interesting.

A must read for Corbu and learning about his obsession with measurements.

This is not the edition I have - I have the first English edition of the Modulor, from 1954.

My mother thought she had a copy of this book but couldnt find it, so she was pleased when I got it.

Will update when I have read past the first chapter, but the writing is engaging so far.

"El modulor hace lo bueno fácil y lo malo difícil."
Gran introducción al genio creador de Le Corbusier, es posible palpar la pasión que siente por la arquitectura y por su oficio de creador, que refleja en cada párrafo de el Modulor!
