Don’t you ever wonder what gets into people?

A horrifying vision of a missing girl lying broken in the haunted reaches of Mortimer Woods, leads Malin Waterhouse to the worst discovery of her life. Not so much the mangled body hidden in the trees, but what she calls the family curse. Insight runs strong through her ancestry and, after another shocking premonition brings her to her knees, finding a second body out at the lake proves she has it too. The ability to see the unthinkable, a power the police will never believe. Tormented, Malin is forced to enlist the help of friends, but how can they stop a deranged killer from striking again if they’re always too late? The visions are anchored in the past and it doesn’t take Malin long to realize she’s asking the wrong question. The right question is: what is IT?

No amount of training can prepare someone for the darkness pooling in the corners of a moonlit room. The evil we all know is hiding beneath the bed. The thing standing quietly in the closet is real and will do more than force Malin to fight for her life. IT will make her fight for all of Cottage Grove as well. There is no escaping the wicked at the town’s doorstep and – in a thrilling climax no one saw coming – IT will reveal itself in the most disturbing, and surprising, of ways. One that will leave you suspicious of a stranger in the crowd…or even someone you love.

No one is safe from the creature in the night.

From the bestselling author of A Little More Dead, comes a gripping tale that will keep you guessing until the very end!
The Hunting of Malin is a full-length, standalone novel and will soon be available on audiobook.

The Hunting of Malin Reviews

  • A Book Lover's Emporium Book Blog

I really enjoyed this book. It was a mixture of a thriller, paranormal and horror and it was really good. It was easy to read and the author had me hooked. The book contained , witch craft, blood, bodies and so much more and for any fan of blood and guts then this is your book.

It was so cleverly written that I just didn't foresee what was going to happen. I was shocked, more so at myself for not even having a tiny clue as to where the story was going.

Malin inherited a special gift from her mother. A gift she does not like or want. A gift that will see her have more problems then she thought possible. Together with her best friend, Malin sets out to help those in need, without realising the dangers she, herself, is getting into.

Malin is a very likeable character and even one that you couldn't help but feel sorry for given her circumstances. Holden is another likeable character, but can these two be together?

This is the first book from the author and it won't be my last.

    The Hunting of Malin Review

This was a dark read and not for those that upset easily. It follows the journey of Malin a normal girl that suddenly starts having horrific visions of young women being murdered. Thinking it's the only way to stop the killings and terrifying visions; Malin with the help of a few friends goes about trying to figure out who the murderer really is.

For me it started out a bit slow but a few chapters in the plot picked up and I couldn't put it down. I kept flipping between thinking she was completely crazy to thinking she just might maybe be some kind of psychic like her mother.
More than once I thought I knew exactly what was going on and who the killer was. I was so wrong on so many levels! I would have liked a little more detail before the book was over but I have to give the author credit because I that ending totally threw me for a loop. If you are a fan of a dark suspenseful story with some supernatural thrown in I would definitely recommend giving this book a try.

Spooky as hell!!! Twists that I did not expect!!!

I really enjoyed this book! Malin has powers she didn't have before. Murders start happening and she cannot figure out who is behind them. Mystical powers come into play and things start to get confusing, creepy and down right makes her think she is losing her mind. She seeks help from her mother Luna.
Luna has always had special powers and tried to teach them to Malin and make her aware of everything her whole life. However, Malin just thought her mom was a nut job and so did Malin's friend Roscoe.
Roscoe and Malin grew up together. They know everything about each other or so they thought. Roscoe is a bar owner and has hired new people. Holden is one of the new guys he has hired.
Holden is a new bar back at Roscoe's bar and grill named The Office. He likes Malin and eventually forms a relationship with her.
Things start to get tangled and confusing. Malin thinks at first that her best friend Roscoe is a serial killer. Then she thinks it is Holden. Things get all twisted and women are being murdered. But who is the real killer and where are all these powers coming from? Read this book and you will not be disappointed with it's twists!!! I can not wait until I have more time to read the rest of the series!!!

This dark paranormal/thriller/horror/mystery is not for the faint at heart. It is an intense read where visions of murder are detailed but also compounded by the subject matter. With twists and turns that leave you totally on the wrong side of the truth it is a wonderful read that will have you going back and re-reading passages to verify that is what you saw. In the end the things/lengths we go through for those we love.

Great read with characters that feed the mystery and leave you wondering of the direction of the story. This is my first read of this author and I really enjoyed his writing style.
