  Phenomenal!! I'm shocked by the limited amount of reviews for this book! This is prime reading! I read this book in a few hours I could not put it down! New Author to me. Excellent character development and story line. This is one fantastic read and I can not wait for the next one. Very different from other typical vampire books. Both Sci-fi, dystopian, and fantasy all in one!
  SPOILER ALERT:
  My only beef with this book: An idea that I can't imagine not coming to the minds of the people of this society. They want change! They want to live back on Earth. They have no idea what it's really like down there. Why not a simple video viewing of what is really happening to be shown to all? Why not leave video below to gain knowledge of the creatures left behind? Why not grab the asshat councilmen and take him on a lovely tour so he can see what it is really like? Appease the people and let bring the truth!! Those are my ideas that would have taken hold that could have changed their outcome. I still LOVED the book absolutely and highly recommend it.

  The Savage Earth delivers action, adventure and intrigue in an uniquely imagined post apocalyptic future. Blending together elements of science fiction and fantasy (with a splash of horrific vampire), this novel defies genre classification. Instead, this novel is simply best described as an exciting and entertaining read.
  
  This novel has a lot of crossover appeal for readers looking to bridge the gap between young adult and adult fiction. Fast-paced and action-packed, this book has the narrative drive of a young adult novel, without the inevitable tropes that come with YA novels.
  
  Alex is a great main character, who is strong and assertive while still reading like a realistic young woman. While she is not perfect, she still manages to avoid many of the pitfalls that usually plague characters in these kinds of stories.
  
  I loved the world-building in this story and I look forward to seeing the future expanded in the rest of the series. After finishing this novel, I am excited to jump into The Savage Night.

  This was a fantastic read. I enjoyed every part of it. It's the first time I've read post apocalyptic, and to add a bonus to that, it's filled with vampires, which IS the genre I typically read.
  Adventure, well developed characters, suspenseful, animalistic vampires, great plot and an ending that threw me for a loop. I cannot wait to dive into book 2!

  Lieutenant Alexandria Goddard (Alex) was a soldier in the New Haven Law Enforcement Ground Mission Team (GMT). New Haven, was a massive airship that flew 25,162 feet above sea level, at 402 mph, with a population of 40,000, and was the last human city on earth. GMT’s commanding officer, Captain Arnold Brickman (CB), and his commander, General Isaiah Craig wanted funding for R&D on a jet pack for their soldiers. They invited Councilman Flemming to a demonstration of the jet pack that Alex would operate. Surprisingly, Flemming also brought Councilman Sterns. Alex, disobeying orders, flew the jet pack out of the hangar and up into the sky performing several maneuvers. Her performance gained funding but also a ripped new one from the General. 150 years ago, which places this event around the 21st century, an infestation or virus decimated the population of earth into vampires. The only survivors escaped by building New Haven. Thus begins the saga of Vampire World. My first impression of Alex is naïve and reckless, having no business being an officer. Her superiors should reduce her to sergeant and send her back to training. Firefly is an idiot and Drew was close behind. Some of the author’s conceptions about vampires go against most of the paranormal books I’ve read. I realize this is fiction but some things are just way off common perceptions. Like killing them with silver bullets to the chest; the wrong species, and the belief that vampires were stupid beasts. An interesting idea was using artificial daylight floodlights to burn them. Thankfully, the team got better at fighting as time went on. The last issue in book 1 was to find repair parts to prevent New Haven from having to land. Goodreads did not have the Publisher’s Pack Books 1-2, so I had to use the single Books 1 & 2 for bookmarks. Three.point.five.

  3.75⭐️This was entertaining and kept me interested through the entire story. I was looking for a lengthy audiobook to listen to when doing housework and this for the bill. In a dystopian world, 100 years after vampires took over earth (and we’re talking the creepy, underworld, demon-esque feral vampires, not Edward from Twilight, okay?), the last of humanity lives on a ship that circles earth, always staying in the sun. Our main character is a member of the Ground Mission Control team, who goes to earth for supplies. The story follows her through the policitcal upheaval of their city which involves a resettlement plan to resettle on earth’s surface. Big yikes. I’ll likely keep up with the series!

  I really enjoyed this book, how smoothly it read (a real page turner). i really like the strong female lead character (Alex), and her joining characters in this story.
  The story itself is a unique direction and exciting bit of scifi that ends as well as it began. I am looking forward to beginning book 2.

  I love vampire books, but unfortunately this didn’t make me want to buy the next in the series, as others did, such as Interview With The Vampire and I.Strahd.

  CLIFFHANGERS DO NOT BELONG IN BOOKS!! If I had known this one would just STOP instead of actually ending, I never would have even started reading it. So imagine my shock and dismay when that is what I discovered at the end of this book.
  
  The story is WONDERFUL! I completely loved it. Up until the lack of an ending, I would have given this story 5 stars. If this book hadn't closed with a huge slap in my face, I would have eagerly and immediately purchased the next installment in this series. When I get wide open stoppage instead of an ending in a book, I just finish the story for myself and then move on to an author who appreciates my time by giving me a FUCKING ENDING TO THE STORY I SPEND HOURS READING!!! Now if that doesn't bother you, then I think you'll love this story. What you get of it is very well told. The characters are well written and they feel 'real' enough that I cared about them. There were so many things I loved about this story. The lack of an ending killed every bit of that for me. I felt betrayed. If the author can't be bothered to provide an ending, I won't be bothered by reading anything else from him.

  I love End of the World books. It makes me think about what I’d do in that situation. My folks own a cabin out in the woods in Wisconsin on a tiny island. Definitely where I’d go (at least until I realized it’s a long hike to find toilet paper especially in a cold snowy winter. 😂)
  
  I can’t help but compare this to the Hell Divers series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith. In both series the last vestiges of humanity are living in the skies. Political fighting threatens the stability of the airborne towns with leaders willing to do bad things for the “good of the people”. Both series focus on teams who dive/fly to earth to hunt down items necessary for their survival in the floating skies. Each team has a mantra: “We dive so humanity survives” & “ours is not too question why, just be prepared to die”. Both stories have the earth filled with predators leaving it incapable of being inhabited. One has savage beasts running amok in a nuclear wasteland, the other has vampires.
  It’ll be interesting to see how much The Savage Earth follows in its predecessor’s footsteps.
  
  I did enjoy how quickly the story progressed and the action scenes were well done.
  
  It struck me as though the author wrote some scenes like he was watching them in a movie. The set ups are quite obvious, we know what’s going to happen such as we know that the big bad macho army dude is going to find out he’s in over his head. These scenes come across as though the author followed a checklist to hit specific notes, but forgot to include the essential music to draw us in and fill us with emotion. These scenes are very cliché.
  
  The more I’ve listened the less interested I became. Too many times a piece of the plot did not make sense:
  * a soldier has been breaking major rules causing risks to her team so the captain decides to show her a major secret that others don’t know about. How is that going to make her be a more reliable team member?
  * after the poo hits the fan during a big fight with the vamps the captain shares the story of how he lost every single one of his teammates years ago. Why was this story a secret? Why wouldn’t you want all the soldiers to know the story so they can learn from this experience?
  * why wouldn’t an Air town always be working towards resettling earth? Why wouldn’t Research & Development run tests to know what skills the vampires have - to know their capabilities at night? Send logical that if they knew those skills they’d be able to determine what kind of gadgets would be most helpful.
  * when there’s a fight between the people (1 side saying they should resettle earth and the other side saying not to) why wouldn’t they compromise and take small steps? For example, have a small team of soldiers spend the night on the ground to see what the vampires are like at night. Does it have to be all or nothing?
  * there’s so many clever technological tools developed that it seems like it’d be easy to find a way for the soldiers to record their interactions/fights with the vampires. Then everyone could watch it and have a better understanding.
  
  These and other plot holes were pretty obvious so it makes me wonder if the author was rather lazy about the plot and instead spent his energy on the fight scenes.
  
  I give this about a 2.5. I appreciate how much the end of this book deviated from the Hell Diver’s book, but it came way too late to make it feel like it offered any sort of intriguing ideas worth my time.

  I was actually surprised by this book. I was expecting another twilight series and I was ready to tear it apart. (I’m not into lovey vamps) This was a seriously good book that I really enjoyed. The voice acting was superb and so was the story. There is one huge plot hole that could have been easily fixed but I guess the authors wanted to take the series in a certain direction and then forgot about the plot hole.
  
  I’m not going to say anything about the plot hole itself because I don’t want to give away spoilers but it is big enough to drive a aircraft carrier through. I didn’t mark the book down because of it because I enjoyed the plot and the characters. I didn’t see the plot twist coming so that was a nice surprise
  
  My rating system works like this 1 ⭐️ don’t bother, 2 ⭐️ readable but a chore, 3 ⭐️ a good book, worth reading, 4 ⭐️ a great book that was throughly enjoyable, 5 ⭐️ one of the best books I have ever read.
  
  The Savage Earth is definitely worth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ in my opinion.

  Damn good read
  
  Well it's been awhile since I read anything, let me explain in the past six to nine months I haven't read a single book. Prior to that I averaged almost 300 books a year for 3 years, what happened? I got tired of the same ole tripe many author's grind out novels like tissue paper often it's the same book with just color changes in narration. It was getting harder and harder to find something that didn't remind me of a cookie cutter formula. Funny that this book had been recommended by a YouTuber who played video games, thought I would check it out, I was pleasant surprised. While a novel about a post apocalyptic world about vampires reminiscent of "the last man on earth, or I am legend" it was engaging and with a not unexpected but nice twist at the end.

  The main character, Alex, is like a knock off Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica. The problem is she is dumb as a box of rocks. She doesn't follow orders, foolishly and repeatedly puts her team at risk, naively believes flashy politicians but not her commanding officer, and can quickly change her opinion from one extreme to the other. The idea that she would be allowed to not only keep her very important position, but be put in rolls of leadership, is ludicrous. She is ENTIRELY unlikable and the way she is admired, trusted and liked by her colleagues and higher ups is unbelievable.
  
  The overall premise of the book could have been interesting, but the execution was problematic, even if I could get past how intolerable Alex was.

  I fear these books need to go into the “under appreciated” category and that makes me sad.
  
  These books are so good! Alex is annoying but not in the “I can’t stand her” type of way. She’s impulsive and shortsighted but instead of that being something annoying to read about (which it usually is) it’s just a character flaw that the reader can kinda roll their eyes at in a fondly exasperated sort of way.
  
  The story is exciting and interesting and fun to follow.
  
  I’m cheap as hell. I go through Libby and hoopla mainly and I stare at my Amazon bookshelf like I’m weighing life and death — but I think this is a purchase I’m willing to make in order to continue on through the adventure

  Well-written, interesting concept with likable, flawed characters. I didn't want to put it down, but had to finally stop about 200 pages in to sleep. What I liked best is the main character, Alex, isn't perfect and makes mistakes, but she keeps going and maintains her convictions. She's still kick-ass, of course, but she isn't perfect. Nothing romantic about the vampires, either. No sparkly skin or "vegetarian" diets of animal blood only. They're killers. Or are they?

  I enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to the next one. I think about half-way through though I started to get a little lost in the middle, but then the action picked up again. The author alluded a few times to the twist that leaves the end a cliffhanger and that made me want to flip to the end to see what would happen. Definitely sad to lose a couple characters and felt they could have been fleshed out a little more for maximum effect. Overall I really enjoyed this book. There are quite a few grammatical errors that I feel should have been caught in editing.

  A gem of a Dystopian Vampire series. The humans are fighting For life on Earth. There is a new virus that has been released by the GMT it is made to destroy the feral vampires. It works somewhat but mutates non feral vampires into the twisted. If you have not started from the beginning of the series I highly suggest you do so. An fasten your seat belt your in for an absolutely magnificent ride. Always a pleasure when a great author such as P.T. Hylton shares the worlds that spin in his head. Enjoy.

  Decent pulp fiction! If you enjoy zombie apocalypse books, I think you’d enjoy this one. It’s not too gruesome, and romantic scenes aren’t explicit. I would say it is PG-13 and up. I’d probably recommend for readers 15 years and older due to Adult relationships during an apocalypse. It’s not the most emotionally engaging or thrilling book of its type, yet I enjoyed it and will probably pick up the next one after writing this review. I really enjoyed the ending!

When I sit down to start a new book series I have every intention of going through however many books have been released, whether it is 2 or 12. I appreciate it when a great book ends on a cliffhanger. I know, I’m crazy. This book did not disappoint my strange addiction! I love Alex and her team and I’m about to plow through the rest of these with a quickness ;)

  A story that has you cheering on the good guys, and shocks you on the last page.
  
  The last of the human race has survived the vampire apocalypse, and after a political coup, internal mechanical sabotage, and or loss of their power supply, they are fighting for their survival. The characters are easy to like, and their snap decisions to follow. Humanity is still themselves, and destroying themselves is still their favorite pastime....

A bit far fetched to be living in a floating city for 150 years and not going down to the surface of the earth but for a small team to gather needed equipment and supplies. But, I am intrigued to see how this will play out.

  Didnt know what to expect when I started to read this little gem, turns out i was starting a great saga. whats not to like, strong female lead, ferrel Vampires, good side characters, plenty of action and even a small hint of politics, it has a whiff of battlestar galactica about it which is prob why i liked it as much as i have, really looking forward to book two.

  I absolutely LOVE this take on vampirism and what lengths humans will go to, just to survive! This was a fantastic read, it kept me ready for more with every page. I have already gotten Book Number 2 and I am starting it today! I can’t wait to find out the HOW!! - I purposely didn’t add details so there was no chance of spoilers
