Kim Xavier steals things. She can't help it. Recovering from her shoplifting addiction has never been easy, but she's giving it a shot. When she comes home to a ransacked apartment, Kim knows she's finally taken the wrong thing from the wrong person. And she can't tell the police--especially not the cop whose heart she broke months ago.

Scott Culpepper wants Kim Xavier. He can't help it. Ever since he met the smart-mouthed woman while on patrol in New Haven, he hasn't been able to get her or her red lips out of his mind. Unfortunately, she's also got a police record, and the single dad has learned the hard way not to get involved with unpredictable women.

But when Kim is threatened by someone selling information used to harass women online, Scott steps up to keep her safe--even if it means spending more time with her than he should. The two work to unravel the case, which leads them from the dirty underbelly of the Ivy League to posh preschool parties to a drug dealer who can quote Kerouac. Though the biggest danger may be Kim stealing the very thing Scott can't afford to lose: his heart.

Stolen in Love (Love and Lawbreakers #2) Reviews

  • Louise H's Book Thoughts

Can I give this book 10 stars? I would if I could. Why? Not many books make me properly cry, as in ugly cry, as in red face, lots of tears and a wobbly bottom lip cry, but this one did.

For me this had a perfect mix of genres, there was the expected romance, a good chunk of intrigue/mystery/suspense and a lot of Kat trying to like herself. Don't take this the wrong way (I'm a mum of three) but I'm not always a huge fan of kids in a book, but Lily is super amazing and allows us to see how wonderful both Scott and Kat are as people.

The romance was well written, had the expected angst and misunderstandings, although this was done very differently to those 'production line' books. It had unusual and unique elements, it had humour, it had heat, it had good chemistry and I totally believed in Kat and Scott as a couple. The mystery part was really gripping, it had some very unexpected twists and turns and gave the story a really good pace.

What really made this book for me was experiencing Kim's inner thoughts and feelings. Usually if a book makes me cry it's when the couple have the (inevitable) break up before they get back together. Not this book. No I cried at how little Kim thought of herself, how much she felt she was bad, worthless and undeserving of love. She was a strong, feisty heroine on the outside, but so broken on the inside and felt so unworthy and I loved her and all her perfect imperfections. Scott was a bossy but caring hero, torn with his attraction to someone who should be his nemesis, but seeing the true worth of Kim even when she couldn't see it herself.

It must be obvious by now but I will say that the writing is of the highest quality, has a flowing and very easy to read style and is thoroughly captivating. The book is written in the third person, with each chapter based around one of the characters. I found it easy to know who the author was writing about or who was speaking, never lost track of the plot and ended up reading into the small hours because I just didn't want to put this book down.

I haven't read Book 1, this book does contain spoilers for it but I could follow the story in this book with no problems. I'm just wondering who is up next, I'm hoping for Hutch and Carter but am also keeping an eye on Ian and Prue.

Stolen in Love was a great read. Sure Kim annoyed the bejeezus out of me at times, but I still liked her. I still wanted everything to work out for the best.

Kim is a thief. She has an addiction to stealing things. It gives her a rush even if she feels terrible afterward. But she is trying to get help and change her ways. She doesn't want to be a terrible person, she just thinks she is. She has a record and is not a fan of the cops (they aren't a fan of her either).

Scott is a cop. He first met Kim in the last book and was drawn to her. Only she lied to him and that hurt. A lot. He can't get close to her again and risk being hurt even more. Plus he has his daughter Lilly to think about. Lilly who seems to love Kim, but can he trust Kim around her? He can't take that chance.

When Kim comes home one night to her apartment ransacked and a scary note telling her to leave what she stole in her mailbox she runs. To her parents. Who live across from Scott. She didn't have another choice. She can't stay at her place and her sister is shacking up with the graffiti artist, her brother's place is probably disgusting, so she is going to try and put up with her mom. They don't really get along that well.

Kim has no plans of going to the police. After all they would probably just tell her she brought this on herself. If she didn't have a problem stealing this wouldn't be happening. Only her mom can't let it go at that. Thankfully she gets Scott involved and the fun began. These two are drawn to each other. They know they are not good for each other, the cop and the criminal, but they can't stay away. It was so much fun to read. Kim is not always the smartest, she thinks she is a terrible person and makes terrible decisions at times, decides to lie and keep things from those trying to protect her, but when she gets stressed she feels out of control. She is in recovery, but that doesn't mean she doesn't slip up, especially with everything that is going on. For as much as she frustrated me I still loved her.

I loved these two. They both have baggage, things they haven't really worked through, but they care about each other. It was fun. And how everything worked out, who was involved and what was going on, I absolutely loved. We also were introduced to some fun new character storylines and I hope we get a few stories for them. I wouldn't mind reading about Hutch and want to know the story with Kim's brother. Overall this was a great read. These two were so much fun together.

Stolen In Love is the second book in the Love And Lawbreakers series and for me is a five star read.

Wow! This is definitely a five star read for me. What a wild ride. It had me gripped from the very first page and I did not want to put it down and even took it with me to read whilst doing housework just so I could finish it.

This book can be enjoyed time and time again. It is amazingly intense and the author prepares you for the journey for you to take alongside the characters really well. The characters and story development were perfectly done. This book was extremley well written and has fast become of my favourite books. I will definitely want to one click future releases from this author. This book was full of different emotions with many twists and turns in the book that will keep you guessing what is going to happen till the very end.

I could not wait to get to the end so I devoured it in one sitting. Incredible work!!

The storyline was done really well and was believable. It kept me gripped from the very start until the end, so much so I took the book everywhere with me in order to finish it. I adore this book and cannot wait to read the next in the series as well as other work from this amazing author. I will definitely be recommending this author to everyone I know.

Warning: lots of gushing ahead. As much as I adore G.G. Andrew's Nora and Brendan books (Crazy, Sexy, Ghoulish and Scary, Lovesick, Foolish), I think this may have unseated them as my favorite book of hers. I just loved Kim and Scott so much and was really hoping they would get their own book after reading Graffiti in Love.

Kim is one of those characters that really wriggled her way into my heart. She had this mixture of sass and self-doubt and vulnerability that I really related to, and I loved seeing how she struggled with her kleptomania and what other people thought of her because of the consequences of her addiction. I've never read about a character with kleptomania before, so that was really interesting, and I think it was handled with compassion and respect. Scott was wonderful too, especially the way he cared for his daughter Lily, and came to care for and stick up for Kim, even though he tried to fight it at first and it came at a cost for him in his position as a police officer. That conflict and and Kim coming to terms with her own self-worth really made for some delicious very real tension between the two of them. I got choked up so many times while reading.

The mystery/suspense element was really fun, too, especially how it resolved and I loved the introduction of some new characters like Hutch and Carter who I hope we'll see in future books.

Really very sweet! I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. The premise was intriguing, the cast familiar from Graffiti, the author a sure bet. Those things combined don't always mean a great result, you know? But thank all the soft afghans on my couch, that combo was a win this time.

Kim was complex, troubled, feisty, struggling, and strong. Loved her. Scott was realistic even though I didn't always like the box he kept Kim in until the end. The rest of the cast made the story move and feel dynamic, never stagnant or boring. I'm looking forward to reading more about Carter and Hutch if they get some page time in the future.

The story wasn't just about Kim's thievery and Scott coming to terms with it while helping with the threat trouble, it grew and evolved and was resolved both simply and dramatically. The trust shown between the MC's, their ability to compromise with the investigation, and their desire to be with one another was all really good.

Overall, I believe. I believe that if they were real they'd have a shot at lasting, I believe that recovery would be strong, I believe that these two people as individuals would be worth knowing. I'm a fan. And I very willingly reviewed this book as an ARC that I got from the author.

This is the first book I have read by G G Andrew and now I am hooked and impatiently waiting for book 3. Being a kleptomaniac is not easy but Kim is fighting hard to turn her life around. When she returns to her apartment to find it ransacked and a note on the table she knows she has stolen something from the wrong person, but what?
It is the what that the story revolves around and the mystery deepens and strong feelings develop between Kim and Scott the single dad policeman who lives next door to her parents. This is a real murder mystery with twists and turns all over the place you just think you know who did it and you hit a brick wall and have to start all over again.
I would recommend this book to lovers of mystery, lovers of romance and lovers of suspense. It is not dark by any means with lots of laugh out loud moments. A well written well thought out book and now I am going to go read book one, the story of Kim's sister.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

AfAfter reading an advanced copy of this book, I have voluntarily submitted this review.
Addictions are something that those who have not experienced being driven by a desire, which controls your every thought or move, even when you know it is not good for you. Whether it is alcoholism, drugs or in the case of Kim, kleptomania, it is a daily fight against the need inside the person affected.
This book gives us a look at a life, that anyone could have to live, just depending on their genetic make up and circumstances.
That is why such books are great to read, giving an insight into the lives of another person and their experiences, all from the safety of our arm chair.

Kim and Scott are a couple that was introduced in last years Graffiti in Love but you don’t need to have read that one (but it’s cute!) So a Keltopmaniac and a cop. Yes, that causes a lot of trouble as you would imagine. Kim is seeing a therapist and on the road to recovery but still has lapses during stressful periods, and I liked that it wasn’t all tidy and she struggled. That ‘s realistic.

Kim’s previous life of crime comes back to haunt her and put her danger and I’m surprised to say that I didn’t have the "who done it" all figured out like I usually do! This wasn’t as funny as Andrew’s other books but if you enjoy a bit of mystery and danger with your romance give this one a try.

I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it

A fantastic romantic suspense story. Kim is a recovering kleptomaniac but she stole from the wrong person and now she is in trouble! Can Scott, the police officer who met her previously (and liked her but did not ask her out due to her criminal record) keep her safe and can the duo solve the case?

Well written, fast paced with a great storyline it's a real page turner and I highly recommend this book

I've read a few of G.G. Andrew's novels, but this is my favorite! Stolen in Love is hot, romantic, and suspenseful with an ending that I didn't see coming. It is well written, free of grammatical errors (my pet peeve). I don't want to reveal the plot, but it would be criminal if you don't read it! I regret that I haven't read the first of these stand-alone books! I was given an ARC in exchange he for an honest review.

A WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF SEXY...

As someone who was fanatically raving about CRAZY, SEXY, GHOULISH, I was agreeably surprised by G.G. Andrew taking the physical part of the romance in STOLEN IN LOVE to a whole new level. Who knew she was able to write such sexy-hot love scenes? Yum!

And of course, IMO, Andrew is at her strongest when she's writing bad girls. More bad girls please, and more edgy goodness!

  • Laura

    Wonderful

Got hooked and couldn't stop reading. Goes to show you can't help who you fall in love with. Lily sounds like an absolute doll. Scott sounds like a hunk and Kim sounds a little crazy but trying to get her life together. Definitely recommend.

  • Athena Stephenson

Really great book! It was such a unique story and had lots of angst and drama but was also hilarious, sweet and moving.

  • Kimberly Westrope

Though this book is the second in a series, it is a stand-alone story. This is the first time I have read any of G.G. Andrew’s books and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Her characters all are very real and likable characters, struggling with the same issues we all struggle with – parent/child relationships, relationships in general, addictions, etc.

I really liked the way the story developed, at a consistent pace, but keeping up the suspense. It was very easy to follow and really get caught up in. There is drama and suspense, with love, lust, and a bit of sweetness thrown in.

Definitely a good read. I am anxious to read the others in this series.

This is my third book by G.G. Andrew and it was graciously given to me in exchange for a review. I'm not often a reader of straight romance, but, as I have said many times in various blog posts and reviews, there are a few authors of which I enjoy. G.G. Andrew seems to now be one author on that short list. Although Stolen in Love can be a stand alone novel easily, it also has connections to another book titled Graffiti in Love, which I also read and enjoyed.

This story revolves around Kim Xavier, a young woman who is trying desperately to put her past behind her and move on with her life. Unfortunately, someone wants something she stole and she needs help to figure out who is threatening her. That help comes in the form of Scott, the cop who lives a few doors down from her parents. Not much more needs to said. I have to say that one thing I like about this series is that our main characters are not without flaws, even major ones. While the stories aren't incredibly deep, they do touch on the struggle to deal with life's challenges and provide hope that past mistakes don't have to be the decision maker on future happiness.

I liked this book and it's characters just as much as the first book. I look forward to a third.

  • Stephanie

I loved this book! The story line and characters were so interesting. I really like how the main character accepted and dealt with her personal demon...

I also liked that this book continued some of the same characters from an earlier book written by the same author, G.G. Andrew.
