SOMEONE IS KILLING OFF LAWYERS IN THE U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE

Michael Gresham is assigned to prosecuting the case against the at-large killer. When Michael's team has tried everything else to find the killer, they turn to twelve-year old Annie Gresham to create a criminal profile. Annie, the savant daughter of Michael Gresham, gathers together all the known evidence and begins mining the data. The killer moves closer and closer to the investigators. Now everyone is a potential target, especially those who are getting the closest to making an arrest. Annie creates a shocking profile of the killer, leaving the FBI agents skeptical of Michael Gresham. The noose slips around Michael and he struggles to arrest the killer before the FBI turns on him.

Michael is put on administrative leave. He retains Joy Heavens to come to his defense. Help comes from an unexpected source when Marcel Rainford returns from his work at Interpol and joins Michael's team.

In a shocking twist, the true identity of the killer becomes known--too late, for the jury meets and returns with its verdict. Marcel pulls out all the stops to obtain enough evidence to require a new trial. Video is purchased from an unexpected source and brought to court.

One day remains to file for a new trial and complete Michael's struggle to be free. Will the judge buy the shocking truth? Or is Michael's jail cell now his long-term home?

Dead Lawyer on Aisle 11 (Michael Gresham #7; Annie the Profiler #2) Reviews

    Thrilling story.

Really like Michael Gresham character, but in this novel he is not defending anybody. Earlier books was far more exciting, this one looks like the last one in this series. Troubled ex-husband and his very needy, sexually active ex-wife. She's is prosecutor and having relationship with many prosecutors in the office. Question is who was the one that killed her in aisle 11? Ending is known for the start, but how they're going to prove that kept me turning the pages.

Ellsworth tells an interesting story. He has a series of murder mysteries featuring Michael Gresham and his daughter Annie. Annie is a 12 year old savant who works for the FBI has a profiler. In this story someone is killing lawyers and through several twists and turns Michael ends up a suspect. A new character, Joy Heavens, is introduced in this book. She’s hired to help Michael. These books hold one’s interest without a lot of gore and excessive violence. A good weekend read

Sometimes being a Lawyer doesn’t pay but having an Ace in the hole does!

What did I like? Wow, a legal thriller with lots of action! What more could you like about a book? Oh, I guess if you throw in a 12-year-old savant, a grocery store killing, a little scandal on the side, you would have a great read.

What will you like? Legal action, murder, adventure, mystery, intrigue, sex and jail time will bring this book to the top of your read list. John Ellsworth’s Michael Gresham Legal thrillers are all standalone and if you missed any of the others there is enough background provided, that you won’t miss anything.

Linda Havens was the ex-wife of Congressman Peter Heavens. Now she has become a full time caregiver for her mother, who has dementia. She was going crazy in this role. She is a lawyer and she needs to find an outlet. Linda’s friend, Harry Barrows, a DC Metro Police Officer, talks to the U. S. Attorney, Niles Boudreaux about Linda Heavens. The interview was set and USA Boudreaux hires Linda. Eventually, Linda becomes a girlfriend and later marries Harry Barrows. However, Harry’s jealousy ruins the short-lived marriage. This gives Linda a chance to become very promiscuous. She has a short fling with USA Boudreaux and is rewarded with a promotion to AUSA. She begins to use her power in the office and starts having affairs with other staff members.

What happens when AUSA, Linda Barrows, has been murdered execution style, while shopping? Michael Gresham has been called into the office of the United Sates Attorney’s office. He has been charged with taking over this investigation. The FBI and DC Metro Police Department has been called in to continue collecting forensic evidence and to investigate all the evidence and interview witnesses of the murder. Evidence comes forward that gets Michael indicted for this case. What secrets will they uncover? Who would have wanted to kill her in such a heinous way? Who were her enemies? Was it her ex- husband, Harry Barrows, or someone in the office? This book had a great plot as well as great character development. What a roller coaster ride! This book will keep the reader totally enthralled from the beginning to the very end. I look forward to the next book!

    Columbo

This was a disappointment, I didn't like knowing who was murdered and why, reminds me of t v series that you knew who and why before the dective

Attorney Linda Chaisson is hired by US Attorney Niles Boudreaux. Her boyfriend, cop Harry Burrows is jealous. She marries Harry bu still has lunches with Niles. Harry is furious, so furious that he starts to abuse her. Enough of that, she gets a divorce. She starts an affair with Niles but soon ends that. Niles is furious. Harry and Niles have a chat and decide she must be taken care of. Guess what - she is murdered in a grocery store on, as the title states, Aisle 11. Niles assigns Michael Gresham to the case. He builds a team with members from the FBI and District of Columbia metro police. The case goes nowhere. The FBI calls in 12 year old savant and daughter of Michael, Annie, to construct a profile. Things sort of point to Michael as the killer. He is indicted and goes to trial. Since he is a main character in a series, he's obviously not the killer. After a couple of twists and turns and a deadline for the disclosure of new evidence is about to expire, the real killer is identified.

Another Michael Grisham novel! Although I had not read the first book in the Annie profiler series, it was not necessary for this book. Being a prosecutor, Michael is assigned the case of a fellow attorney murdered in a grocery store. He ends up being accused of the murder and is prosecuted.

This was an easy read. With a couple of twists and turns, the real murderer is exposed - it was who I thought it was. Still didn’t take away from the overall story.

I look forward to reading more of John Ellsworth books.

    "Extraordinary, Edge-of-Your Seat Thriller"

This outstanding legal thriller is one you'll not be able to put down. There are many twists and turns to keep you guessing ... and you'll never guess who the real killer is of a woman lawyer. This story is another triumph for John Ellsworth. I love his very creative novels. They keep me well entertained. I'm looking forward to Book 8 of this series due to be released in March. I've already pre-ordered it.

    What A Ride

For those who have never read one of my reviews before, I review as I read, making sure I leave no spoilers. Because of this, my reviews may be weird, until you read the book, but I hope afterwards, you can say, ooooh, that's what the frog meant!

I have a hard time sometimes when I read a series one after another. This is one of those times. I remember Mikey. And that's all I will say about that.

A cop with not one but two restraining orders? That's far fetched in this day and age.

I must say that the victim isn't very sympathic. Actually, she knew who she was dealing with. As my mother used to say, you lie down with dogs, you'll get fleas.

Michael has lost a lot in his life. Two wives - yes, the first, after a while was a blessing because he was able to find Danni, but he was also blessed, after Russia, where he lost Marcel back to Interpol. He then gained Annie.

Of course, there were a lot of difficulties in getting Annie into his family, but there she is. Even with a younger sibling who gets angry, tries to argue with Annie who won't argue back which makes her even angrier. These kids are who Michael breathes for.

Circumstances beyond his control may take him away from his children. Their only other relative is his mentally ill older brother. As he watches law enforcement getting ever closer to indicting him, he is scared out of his wits.

There is a huge, huge hole in one witness's testimony. I literally gasped out loud. Too bad I seem to be the only one (other than the author) who noticed.

Annie seems to have a problem supposedly common in savants. Three trips to the ER in this book.

This was incredibly intense, both in terms of the legal drama being played out, but also in family matters. I believe this is what sets this series apart - Michael has always held his family first. Always.

I know there is only one book left in this series. In a way, that saddens me, but I brighten when I read Mr. Ellsworth's bibliography. I have a lot more to look forward to.

Ok, I'm not finished with this book, but just a few thoughts. The first few chapters leading up to the murder seemed rushed, like they were written way too fast. I started liking the book better after Michael Gresham appeared, then when the investigation started, the plot sounded familiar. Lawyer in charge of investigating the murder of a colleague was having an affair with her (as was his boss) It reminded me a lot of "Presumed Innocent" by Scott Turow. An excellent book (and movie starring Harrison Ford)

I will finish the book and add to my review. I have read a lot of book by this author but I definitely prefer his earlier books.

***Update after the book is finished. Although admittedly the last part of the book is a real page turner, please be prepared to suspend all common sense. Ok, I realize that when Michael was accused of the murder, the death penalty wasn't on table; however, what attorney in his right mind asks a lawyer with NO criminal experience to defend him on Murder One charges? In Ohio for a death penalty case the attorney has to be "certified" to be able to defend someone facing the death penalty, so not just any criminal lawyer fresh out of law school can take the case. Are we to believe just because Michael Gresham wasn't facing death he lost all common sense? And, Annie "saved him" with her idea that anyone who watches cop shows or reads police procedurals would have thought of long before the trial? Sorry, but I am very disappointed with this book, especially since I've read & enjoyed many, many other books by this author.

A long story that goes nowhere

This was my first Ellsworth novel. It will be my last.

I would like to say that jumping around from different viewpoints or several years in advance was the most disconcerting part of this plot. Sadly, that's far from the issue.

In one paragraph the viewpoint switches from third person to first person and back again. No discernible reason for this. Just sloppy.

There are red herrings thrown in, over and over, the same ones! Does this author think readers have no memory? This was exceedingly tedious.

This readers expectations of a "legal thriller" never were met.

    Over and Over

This book us excellent I have read it at least two times and it was just as good the second time. What a creative Author John Ellsworth is. This book will excite you and keep you guessing how it will end. Such a great character Michael Gresham is as well as the other characters, such as Verona, Arnie and Barons and let's not forget Marcus. Highly recommend.

different style and I love it

I liked this writers style of not too much detail, he told an awesome story without boring me with what color the paint is on the walls. This is my first book by John Ellsworth and about the 6th in a series, I’ll now have to start at the beginning of the series. I choose the because of the title.
