Like it or not, Trixie is now tied to Viktor's, and he seems short a few marbles. She plans on making his eternity a misery until he reveals they have an enemy in common. Trixie is totally on board with helping him escape so she could get her revenge. After that, she’s done. They’re over. She wouldn’t be his vampire.

REVIEW
I enjoyed the previous 2 books in this series but this one well it is now my new favorite.
We finally get up close and personal with the Vampire in Eion's Dungeon. You remember him right?
Victor and Eion are good friends so him being down there is for his own good.
One moment he is sitting all alone in the cage he has called home for a bit and the next he is falling head over fang for a pink haired bouncy beauty. Trixie.
Trixie is the towns dog catcher and she has to make a stop at the castle owned by the dragons.
Trixie is hilarious, full of life until she isn't.

Title: Not His Vampire

Designation: Book 3, Full-Length, Standalone, Paranormal Romance, NO Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
***Although my review is not shown as a 'Verified Purchase' by Amazon, I did read this book using my Amazon Kindle Unlimited Program membership.
I love, love, love Not His Vampire, the third outrageously cute release in the Not This Series by Annie Nicholas! I became completely smitten after reading Not His Dragon, the first delightful story in the series and could hardly wait for the release of the second book, Not His Werewolf - which I also LOVED! I was hopelessly hooked and anxiously awaited the release of the third, Not His Vampire. I snickered, snorted, and sniffled through the entire story but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained. Not His Vampire is a sexy, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, full-length, standalone paranormal tale filled to the brim with side-splitting humor, endearing characters, heartbreaking angst, dreamy romance and of course, a heartwarming happy ending. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is snappy, hilarious, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. No one appreciates a well-written story better than me, but no matter how great the technical components and execution, without a cast of great characters, it's all for naught. And that's what I love about the work of Annie Nicholas, she delivers the whole package, time after time. Each time I open a Nicholas book, I'm always assured a satisfying read. And Nicholas didn't disappoint with Not His Vampire! I fell head over heels for ancient vampire Viktor Petrov, master of the New Port and Riverbend covens, and pink-haired, kindhearted animal control officer Trixie Russell was an absolute delight. If any of the aforementioned names sound familiar, they should since quite a few of the characters were introduced in the first and second books of the series. Although the banter, bickering, and interaction between Viktor and Trixie are often laugh-out-loud funny, don't let all the humor fool you. Viktor and Trixie were perfect together. Their sexual chemistry was smokin' hot! No spoilers from me but I will say this... A handsome, ancient, and sometimes unstable Russian vampire with 'control' issues who thought himself incapable of feeling anything, certainly not love, until now-Check! Lovely, sweet, loyal, kindhearted, and resourceful human, New Port Animal Control officer with neon pink hair who's had a very hard life, can hotwire a car, is extremely accident prone, has a knack for always finding trouble, and is still a virgin-Oh my! A poor gargoyle who meant well-Check! A tragic accident-Check! A beautiful, protective older sister-Check! A werewolf alpha out for revenge-check! Vampires, dhampires, dragons, werewolves, gargoyles, and black magic-Check! Danger, heartache, and lots of angst-check! Humor, attraction, passion, steamy sex, and sweet romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Was it perfect? No, but it was perfect for me! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! -
This is my favorite book of the Not This series thus far, probably because it deviates from the damsel in distress lady shifter who can't shift being saved by the big bad alpha plot of the first two books, and instead in a lot of ways Trixie saves Victor too in this one. I also loved finally getting to know more about Victor after the few teasing glimpses of him we got of him in the first two books in the series. I also loved getting to catch up with characters from the earlier books in the series, as well as meeting some new ones (I was wondering where the gargoyle from the title of the 4th books in the series was going to come in... Ta da, here he is!)
This is another great book full of sexy banter, intrigue, and witty repartee. I would read way more paranormal romance novels if they all managed such an amazing blend of sex and snark the way Annie Nicholas does.
This is the third book in the Not This series, and while technically it could probably be read as a stand alone, the series really should be read in order or you're going to be a little lost. There's a fair amount of plot set up for this book in the previous books, and you are definitely going to spoil all the major plot points/mysteries in the earlier books by reading this one first. Just say no, read those books first! -
I loved this book, as with all the Not This series it was both funny and romantic a great combination.
I would highly recommend all three books as I loved each and everyone equally. -
3.5
A bit more than average 3, but not enough for a steady 4. So 3.5 it is. -

This book is not for me -
These are such sweet reads for paranormal. They're not my normal thing and they do have steam, but I just...I don't know. I like them. I keep coming back for the rest of the series, I can't seem to shake it. I liked the themes of fighting your demons. Strong family ties. And a friendship that's hard to explain, but harder to get rid of. Just read it.
-
I love this book!!! This is book 3 in the Not This series, it is a stand alone book with an awesome HEA. Each book can be read in any order by just to keep the characters straight I would read them in order, it is more fun that way. One hot vampire and one animal control officer makes for a howling good time. haha It will make you laugh, cry and want hold on for life. Recommend to all PNR readers. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Happy reading.

Ok - Didn't Like
I gave this book 3 stars instead of 2 in an attempt to be fair because a good part of what I didn't like about this book was that it was not what I was expecting. I found it under 'romantic comedy' but I would class it as a 'supernatural romance' with some 'suspense'. It was not light and /or funny at all. The synopsis was inaccurate or at least misleading. However, after I got over that and took the book for what it was, it was still only an OK from me. The author kept having the characters do stupid things in order to put themselves in dangerous situations. This made the characters, and at times the world unbelievable. The character depth was low, with little about them in favor of the book focusing on their mission to find the tattoo artist. Would not read more of this series.
*****Spoiler Alert*****
This Book Includes
Violence. Falling down stairs to death- sort of, making a vampire, escaping confinement, running for life from werewolves, lots of threats & posturing, near-death experiences.
Sex. Virgin heroine, MF sex, males leering asking her to undress for tattoo.
Things That Bothered Me
Heroine Inconsistency. All the heroine has to do is not tell anyone about the vampire and she'll be fine. Instead she fashions a wooden stake from a spoon when she can't stomach killing spiders?? This was pretty much the stupidest reason available for her to go to back to the castle. I would've gone for insta-lust she wanted to see him, or even she wanted to talk to the him to make sure she was safe, but a wooden spoon stake? I suppose it's a bit funny but it hurt character credibility more than it added by being funny.
Party /Finale. The hero has a problem with bloodlust and he's going to do battle. So, he forgets to eat beforehand? That seems like vampire 101. Eat before battle. It also seems like battle 101 is to discuss a plan with your teammates before you arrive, but they don't do that either. Then he loses track of the woman he's been unable to take his eyes off of before. Not just for not an hour or two but apparently he doesn't look for her the whole night?? I mean all the other nights they did like 5 things. This night they go to the party and then suddenly it's sunrise. Where did the time go? The wolf can find the tattoo artist from a faint scent a year old, but he can't find the heroine in the mansion before sunrise? Why not? What happened to his wolf nose? -
Everyone in New Port knows about the Shifters but are all the other rumors true too? Are there other things that humans are not aware of that roam the streets?
Trixie is an Animal Control Officer, She is a sometimes clumsy, sassy and savvy woman. She and her sister, Ruby, have had to be to survive. They live in the poorest part of New Port. They barely make ends meet.
Trixie lends some cat carriers to the resident dragon shifter at the Castle. Eoin has a rat problem and cats might solve the rat situation. Her boss wants those carriers returned ASAP. Trixie returns to the Castle to retrieve them. She finds a drop dead gorgeous man chained in the basement. Oh my gosh.. vampires are real!
Viktor is a very old vampire. He asks his friend Eoin to chain him when he can no longer control his bloodlust. He does not want to harm any more humans. Trixie is scared yet intrigued. She is almost done with work for the night so she must come back for the carriers later. She goes home and thinks about that vampire in the basement. She grabs a wooden spoon thinking to use it as a stake for safety purposes.
Trixie goes back to the Castle and is startled by a gargoyle (yep those are real too!) falls down the basement stairs and is dying. The only way to save her is to let Vikor turn her. She will be tied to him forever. They work together to solve a mystery about a dhampir (human/vampire) tattoo artist doing black magic tattoos. This leads to another mystery involving a vampire nest in the next town and that local shifter pack.
This book is good combination of funny, romance, intrigue, suspense and a HEA. The characters are interesting and I really want to visit New Port. I hope we get to see Ruby and Nick in the coming books. Chris the Alpha of Riverbend redeems himself. Fun story, very entertaining read! -
I found the description of this volume to be somewhat misleading, making it sound like Viktor loses control of himself and in a bloodlust attacks Trixie and accidentally makes her a vampire. In truth, he is trying to save her life (in a fashion) when she is mortally wounded.
Although he is a creature of extremely old age, and she is just a young woman, the pair share an immediate attraction and develop a very strong bond. The evolution of their relationship is fun to watch. And the fact that Viktor still has things that he can learn from Trixie is delightful.
Of course, there was much angst and drama to had and worked through, some personal demons to be dealt with and such. But this pair come out of everything stronger than they were, and they do in fact devise some unique ways of attacking their problems.
It was enjoyable to return to New Port and revisit some of the characters we've met in prior books. This tale was interesting in that it was a bit different from prior ones, being about paranormal creatures, but ones who are not shifters as most of the others in this world.
I liked this unusual take on vampires where they would often satisfy their hunger for blood from willing donors, sometimes even via bagged products.
It kind of ticks me off what a bum wrap Nick gets in the story. Okay, so, yes, technically he IS responsible for Trixie's death, but it was totally an accident. He certainly didn't mean to scare her and have her fall down the stairs. And, granted, he shouldn't have been in Eoin & Angie's castle to begin with, but Trixie really shouldn't have been there either. -
NOT HIS VAMPIRE is the third book in the Not This series. Each will stand on their own, but I highly recommend reading them all and even better if in the order of release.
Trixie and Victor couldn’t be more unalike… and that is what makes them so perfect together. Her kind heart is just what he needs to make him want to be a better man, er, vampire.
The story is full of wit, charm, humor, and suspense. Fast paced, but never rushed, this made rush hour traffic my favorite time of the day!
I am absolutely in love with both of these vampires. In fact, I love all of Annie Nicholas’ characters. There isn’t a bad story in this series. She knows how to bring out all of the character’s many facets of life, their strengths and their faults, and make me love them all the more for them…. even the villains.
Narration: B.J. Harrison is the kind of narrator that other little narrators hope to be when they grow up. His voice is as rich as the darkest chocolate. His enunciation, pronunciation, articulation, and dramatization are everything you could ask for. He is to be especially applauded for maintaining that Russian-living-in-America accent. When I want sweet dreams, I’ll put this book on again as I drift away just to listen to that voice.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Received from: Annie Nicholas (as an Audible gifted copy) -
This is one of those books I like to throw in between the heated stories I normally read.
Well, I have to be honest that I was lucky enough to snag up a free audio copy of this book and OMG, it was so endearing and funny. The author writes of a paranormal world that humans know of and the shifter world manages to fit into.
Trixie is a strong, funny characters who I could see being friends with. Her life is not easy but it definitely is entertaining. While on her job she accidently meets Viktor Petrov a vampire being held in the dragons castle. Yeah, I'm not going to explain that because that would be giving to much away and who wants to know everything. It ruins the fun of reading.
Circumstances occur where Viktor and Trixie's life cross over and with everything that happens, Trixie stands strong. This is a great change up for me and I have to say I was extremely entertained by the story and the characters. So, much so that I think I'm going to have to continue with this series. Trixie's sisters story is next and you won't believe who she has to deal with.
So if you're looking for something fun, entertaining and easy on the mind and heart, this series could just be it. -
Lots of fun! The romantic connection was great too; very sweet! There’s a little steam, but the romance takes time to develop. Viktor is a vampire that has some issues controlling his thirst, but he’s really a sweetheart. Trixie works with animals but is in for a surprise when she becomes a vampire. As a newly turned vampire, Trixie needs Viktor’s help, and these 2 are on the hunt for the tattoo artist that is tattooing black magic onto unsuspecting people; a character from a previous book was a victim and happens to be Trixie’s BFF, so they want to find the tattoo artist to stop them from doing harm to anyone else. I haven’t read the previous books, but I still fully understood what was going on in this book, so this can be read as a standalone; there’s just some mention of past characters. I really enjoyed the flow of the story, and the story feels full. Lots of action and adventure, and these 2 end up in some dangerous situations. I listened to the audio, and the narrator gave a fun performance. At first, I wasn’t sure, but he did great. I’d recommend listening. This was my first book in this series, so I’d like to read the previous books and the next books. Hope they are as entertaining as this one!

A PERFECT blend of funny, suspenseful and sexy!
Annie writes my type of humor. Don't get me wrong, this is NOT a romantic comedy and is DEFINITELY for PNR fans 18+, but the feisty, snarky quips that came out of Trixie had me REALLY enjoying the story!
I really liked the dynamic between Trixie and Viktor. Aside from being physically bound to each other, they learned that they also need each other in different ways.
As usual, Annie hints at the romance early on and then lets it slowly burn, adding a little fuel every now and then until BAM! And holy smokes when it does!!!
I enjoyed catching up with the couples from the first two books in the series. While I don't think it's necessary to read their books before this one, I REALLY think you'll want to! (I especially loved Not His Dragon).
I absolutely LOVE this series, as well as every single thing Annie writes, and I'm on pins and needles waiting to see what she comes up with next!
(I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review) -
Not His Vampire is the third book in the Not This series by Annie Nicholas. Victor Petrov was previously introduced in the first book of this series. Since then he's been a guest in Eion's dungeon until he can prove that he is over his bloodlust. Victor is not the average vampire. The vampire who turned him died shortly after doing so leaving Victor to fend for himself. As a result, Victor spent a long time trying to figure things out which resulted in his current issue. Enter Trixie Russell an animal control agent that accidentally meets Victor while retrieving cat cages fro Eion's castle. She convinces herself that when Victor is freed that he will hunt her down. And if he hunts her down, then he'll go after her sister as well. Trixie sneaks into Eion's castle planning to kill Victor, however, she is startled by a gargoyle and falls down a flight of stairs. Now, the vampire she planned on killing is now her only means of survival.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this story. The plotline was exciting and I was able to feel the right amount of empathy for the two main characters. -
Trixie Russell knows about dragons, magic, and shifters but didn't know vampires existed until she finds a monster chained in the dragon's dungeon while looking for cat carriers. Eoin borrowed the carriers when he adopted the 6 cats at an adoption fair but failed to return them and now she's in trouble. She returns to the castle in the middle of the night intent on killing the vampire but is startled by a gargoyle and falls down the dungeon stairs where she was dying. Viktor is the imprisoned vampire and is drawn to Trixie so he turns her in order to save her life.
Trixie is fighting the pull of being with Viktor but when it turns out they have an enemy in common she goes with him to find the dhampir who used black magic to keep her friend, Betty from shifting. But things are not as they seem when she, Viktor, and Chris the werewolf Alpha of Riverfront go to confront the vampire who is heading up the local nest.
I enjoyed this book and the series has been great. I like how each book returns us to New Port, its many paranormal creatures and their lives. I don't normally read vampire stories but since this was part of the series I did and it's well worth the read. -
Another fun story from New Port
Trixie works in animal control. She loaned her best friend, Betty, a lot of crates because Betty was taking her rescue's animals to an adoption fair. Eoin adopted all the cats and borrowed the crates. Trixie has to get them back. She gets lost in the castle and meets a vampire, Viktor, in the dungeon. He's chained up because he can't control his bloodlust sometimes.
The character development is good. Trixie and Viktor are both struggling with issues: hers new, his old. The plot moves at a good pace, with little conflicts leading to the big one. The author seems to like her plots to feature a destitute woman meeting a rich man, with supernatural elements involved. I'd like to see her switch it up.
Sex: 3 scenes
Language: 31 F words, 6 Lord's name in vain, 27 S words
Violence: kidnapping, murder, threats
Cliffhanger: no
Do I need to read books before this one: not needed, but you'd see Viktor, Eoin and Angie in both, Trixie and Chris in one.
Would I read more of the series: yes -
Ok I really loved this book! Viktor and Trixie were super adorable together. It was also a little darker then the other two books. Not necessarily a bad thing but different for sure.
It was a little weird that it was kinda an Insta-love but also a little drawn out. I liked that they didn’t fight their feelings and the relationship wasn’t being tested all the time. There was nothing really in the way of them being together. The book was more about them two going to Riverbend and dealing with issues that arose due to Betty’s (main girl from Not his Werewolf) tattoo and issues shifting.
I thought that Trixie and Viktor were a nice opposites attract couple and that it was nice to see them both be happy. I also loved the appearance of other characters. Like Angie and Eoin - and Chris and Ruby who we kinda met in the last book. The book definitely set up the Ruby and Chris’s books too. Which I am now eager to read (as soon as they arrive in the mail 🙄). -
I'm a big fan of Annie Nicholas so I was thrilled when I was offered an ARC of this book. To no one's surprise, I really enjoyed it. There were quite a few clever lines that made me chuckle:
Dinner cleared her throat.
Honesty would probably send her running, but lying was too difficult of a concept for him to grasp yet. His mind was a honeycomb of instincts and his brain was oozing out of the holes his hunger had caused.
Inside his head, Viktor silently stabbed him in the heart repeatedly until his imagination was soaked in blood.
I enjoyed the relationship that developed between Trixie and Viktor, their growing concern for one another and their unlikely partnership. Despite a few more editing errors than I am accustomed to seeing from this writer, I am still giving this book 5 stars, hoping that the editor for her next book pays closer attention to detail. -
I greatly enjoyed Viktor and Trixie’s tale.
Viktor is a vampire born centuries ago in a time that was vastly different from the present day world he and Trixie live in. Although he’s made mistakes that resulted in terrible consequences Viktor is neither a bad man or vampire. He’s actually an individual haunted by his past and in a way trapped by his own self loathing.
An unfortunate accident brings Trixie into his life and it’s the best thing to happen to him. The beautiful, sassy, pink haired spitfire of a woman with a heart of gold has Viktor feeling things he hasn’t felt in a very long time. Her love might just be the thing to rescue him, help him to heal and leave behind the past.
Their story had me laughing out loud and it warmed my heart.
I love all the characters form this series so far.
I can’t wait to dive into Nick and Ruby’s story next. -
I really enjoy the books in this series. The author creates such fun characters and really quirky couples. Trixie and Viktor are a very entertaining couple. Viktor is an ancient vampire who has lost a lot of his control. He regrets his actions over they years. Meeting Trixie changes everything.
Trixie is still pretty new to the supernatural community. She has some friends but vampires are new to her. Viktor intrigues her from that first meeting. While he scares her at first, the attraction is very strong. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop.
I like that you get to spend time with some of the other characters from the series. The conversations among them all make me smile a lot.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received. -
I love everything about this series. The snappy sarcastic humor, the powerful alpha males, and the delicate spitfire women that bring them to their knees. Viktor has never had an easy time being a vampire. So, when he sires a fledgling for the first time in eight centuries it's not surprising that everything that came before is going to look like a piece of cake. A start, a stupid missed step and trixie's suddenly facing life as a supernatural. Good thing most of her best friends aren't human. I loved watching Trixie find her way in this world she never expected to be a part of. And seeing Viktor so invested in something that might give him hope was pretty awesome. Do we perhaps have the set-up for two future books here? I hope so.

Paranormal love story with humor and heart
Annie Nicholas write such charming shifter tales! The Not This series is lighter in tone, and Not His Vampire is just as charming, humorous, and sweet as the other two books in the series. Sexy Viktor is adorably angsty as the ancient master vampire with a feeding disorder and a guilty conscience. Pink-haired Trixie is the feisty, down to earth animal control officer from the rough side of life whose good-hearted innocent streak makes you want to stand up and cheer. Vampire and shifter politics, well-intentioned dragon interference, complicated family ties and friendships, and a bit of black magic lend just the right balance of dark and dangerous to this lighthearted, slightly naughty paranormal romance. -
"An Adorable and Funny Vampire Romance"
This story is so much fun to read! It will keep you glued to it's pages! The characters are awesome too!
Trixie is a spunky young human woman. She works for the animal control. An event led her to the Dragons castle. To retrieve some animal carriers. There she meets Viktor a sexy Vampire. This leads to her being turned into a vampire! Yep Trixie 's life has been changed forever. Viktor had been chained up in the Dragons dungeon. He was suffering from blood madness. Could Trixie have been his cure? Now he is a sire and must change his ways.
You will love this exciting, adorable, suspenseful, funny, sweet, and steamy hot Romance! It is a five star plus story. -
This is a pleasant story that is both witty and endearing. It is an easy listening story that will keep you regaled with it’s appealing characters and entertaining plot. Viktor and Trixie are great characters and their slow burn romance is tender, humorous and extremely enjoyable. There are challenges, dangers, heartache and changes in this story. This is a stand-alone book, but the prior ones in the series add depth to the world with stories of some of the other characters that are encountered. The narrator of the audiobook does a great job telling the story, using different voices and personalities for the characters. It is a fun, entertaining, easy listening story that is definitely entertaining.
-
“Not his Vampire “, is the third book of this wonderful series. I usually jump around with a series but this one is so charming. I just love the characters and the tone of the books make me think a place like Newport could exist. I am enjoying the audiobooks of this series especially the voice of narrator BJ Harrison, his voice is like hot fudge. I can’t get enough of it. (Hypnotic).
What I enjoy the most, is the mix of paranormal characters all in one book. There is variety in their encounters with one another but in the end they have to find a way to maintain balance and harmony among the mix.
This series is just fun to listen to, funny at times and the plots are compelling. Pick your paranormal favorite and jump in, they don’t have to be read in order.
