The Luckiest Leprechaun: A Tail-Wagging Tale of Friendship Reviews

This book is really adorable with beautifully illustrated pictures!!! Children will have hearing the story and finding things hidden in the pictures!!! 😊
My Dad is from Ireland and came to America with his 3 brothers when he was 9 or 10 years old. I grew up with all kinds of stories about leprechauns, fairies, changelings and so much more...he was a master story teller with all the perfect voices for each character!! Reading this beautiful book brought back wonderful memories of time with my Dad 💚☘️🍀🍀 -
A cute story about a friendly dog that befriends an irascible and grouchy Leprechaun.

Cute for a kids book. I used to have a bunch of books on fairies and elves when I was a kid so always have a soft spot for the little people. Even better paired with a dog. The dog talks with the leprechaun, but I think in kids books we don't mind anthropomorphism. Illustrations are very detailed and cute. Story is simple, so good to read with a child. Great book to have for St. Patty's day.

The Luckiest Leprechaun, written by Justine Korman Fontes and illustrated by Denise Brunkus, is an adorable little story about trust and friendship.
This tale features MacKenzie O’Shamrock, or Mac for short. Mac is a leprechaun who is only concerned with two things; protecting his gold and making shoes for faeries. Business is good, as the faeries do nothing by dance, and either wear out or lose their shoes.
Mac has a comfortable home under a tree in a park. But one day, a dog named Lucky accidentally digs right into Mac’s home when trying to bury a bone! Lucky feels awful. To try to make it up to Mac, she promises to be his guard dog. Mac protests, but Lucky starts to grow on him. One day, Lucky makes good on her promise and chases off a human man that was about to catch Mac!
But when Mac wakes up and see’s that both his gold and Lucky are missing… he blames Lucky. However, Mac is also a bit worried about the dog. What if something happened to her?
This would be a great book to read with kids, especially around the Saint Patrick’s Day holiday!
It was a cute story with a great lesson about friendship. It flowed really well and it had wonderful illustrations. I’d highly recommend this one!
My favorite line from the book was: “Then people found a new way to boil my potatoes…“ -
This was the perfect read for St. Patrick's Day. The Luckiest Leprechaun is pretty grumpy he makes shoes for fairies in the park and if you get to close to his gold he will hit you with his hammer. One day when MacKenzie O'Shamrock also known as Mac wakes up to someone or something digging into his home he sees it is a dog named Lucky. Of course Mac doesn't like anyone to be around him but Lucky won't go away no matter what. In the end a human who believes in leprechaun's comes sniffing around and Lucky ends up chasing the person away. Now Mac of course wakes up and finds his gold is missing along with Lucky and he thinks that dog who was his only friend ran off with the gold. And of course Mac is furious but unknown to him Lucky didn't just take the gold he did it for a reason. And once Mac finds out why he realizes that Lucky is a good friend to have around and a loyal friend is worth more than gold. A great story about friendship, K thought the book was good and he liked the leprechaun.

This is a great book to read to children not only around St. Patrick's Day, but all year long because it discusses friendship. Throughout the story a very grumpy leprechaun with trust issues softens up and let's someone in. The dog and the leprechaun become very good friends. I would probably read this to any grade K-5, because children tend to sometimes leave other children out and I want to teach them to give everyone a chance.

45 months - I will often nab Scholastic paperback picture books from Goodwill without even flipping through them or checking the Goodreads rating and rarely come across a total dud. This is a cute story of friendship and could make a good read around St Patty's Day. O has had me read it a half dozen times so it's certainly a hit with her too.

We read this for the first time last year near St Patrick's Day and when we saw it at the library this year the kids got very excited. Big hit with the preschool crew. The elementary age siblings listen in from across the room.
The narrator is a cantankerous fellow who is so much fun to read aloud. -
MacKenzie O'Shamrock is a grumpy, suspicious old leprechaun. When a dog befriends him, he slowly learns that friendship is more important than gold.
Excellent illustrations. -
A grumpy leprechaun forms an unlikely friendship with a cute dog.

* Making new friends by finding things in common.
* Cute read-aloud for St. Patty's Day....and the reader must use an Irish accent! -
My mentor teacher recommended I read this to the class to get them jazzed up about St. Patrick's Day next week. This was actually a really cute story about friendship.

My students loved this book. A lot.

A fun story of friendship and trust. Reads best with an Irish accent... my specialty. ;)
Highly recommended as a March read for 3-6 year olds -
A leprechaun's best friend is a dog, of course!
