Halloween is also the eve of the Druidic festival of Samhain, a time when the barriers between the natural and supernatural worlds were at their most fragile and when the dead could return and entities from other dimensions could visit the human realm.

Many of our Halloween traditions actually come from these much older beliefs – for example, the wearing of masks and disguises on Halloween is a very ancient practice intended to confuse wandering ghosts and spirits. Of course, we laugh at these superstitions now. We know that Halloween is a time for having fun and that there isn’t any such thing as a night that is evil. Or is there?

If you read the stories in this book, you may begin to wonder. These are all true stories of strange and bad things that have happened at Halloween. So many stories of so many bad things that you may start to wonder whether perhaps there is something different about Halloween. Something dark. Perhaps even something evil…

You won’t find any stories of ghosts or spirits or the supernatural here. These are stories of real people and the strange and wicked things that they do on or around October 31st. Read on, if you dare, and discover a feast of murder, untimely death and mysterious disappearance linked by just one thing: Halloween.

You don't need to read these books in order because they are anthologies of True crime stories that happened on or around Halloween. This one includes 9 stories from around the United States, some are unsolved and others solved with results included. No spoilers here but the kind of strange crimes committed during a night known for evil things. Creepy but true!

I downloaded this book for free to read at Halloween this year and I am so glad I did, it was really enjoyable and I loved reading about the true stories that happened on or around Halloween in previous years - 4 stars from me

  • Debbie Benson

I found the stories that the author picked to be very interesting and contained enough information that I was satisfied with it. I do realize that not all cases will be solved or that all loose ends can be tied up. Whether or not I agree that Halloween generates evil is up for grabs but I will admit that some people will use the excuse to commit their crimes then. To me Halloween is when the veil is the thinnest between life and death and is a chance to remember those who passed. Though I would probably chose Samhain over Halloween.

These are extremely short chapters about different crimes that have taken place over the country most on Halloween. I guess it would be more creepy if we knew who the killer was or had a motive. The second one was about a serial killer that might have killed somebody on Halloween. Nothing actually skin-crawling about it

You don't need to read the first book in order to enjoy this one. This book has anthologies of True crime stories that happened on or around Halloween. They are 9 stories from the United States, some are cold cases. They were short but I enjoyed them, what makes them scary is that they are true.

  • MARTIN WITHERS

    Good if rather short.

Very interesting stories of events occurring during Halloween including murders and disappearances. Well written with good research. A good read.
