So much angst and sexual tension I just wanted to shake Clara and yell at her to make a decision. I haven't been this infuriated with a female lead character since Ana in 50 Shades. Yes, Clara did have her good moments, but most of the time her indecision and internal whining made me want to smack her.
Length of each book was good, but I still feel as though the Guardians/Evil Ones/Travelers mystery is still just as confusing as ever. And just how many alternate/parallel realities are we dealing with here? At least two, but then a vague mention of a possible third crops up alongside the massive plot twist in book three. (I'm currently working on the 4th one so hopefully I get some answers).
And even though they're only related via author and not genre, let's compare the T.R.B works with the M.E. works:
The Band = The Siren Breeders
The Select = The female druids
The Fragment = The Faction
There were a lot of times where I felt like I was reading the super PG-13 version of the M.E. Druid Breeders. Thank god those came to fruition later under and alter ego! -
Pissed off. First 1 and 2 end on cliffhangers, the second a huge one. Then 3 ignores all that and goes back in time. But apparently the author can't read, since it undoes the already questionable world building of the previous books.
The concept has potential. The author has potential--the first created riveting characters.
But the whole series needs a quality editor to clean up the mess, hone the story telling, and make the world building CONSISTENT. And, of course, to get rid of cliffhangers, which are a sign of a weak author, unable to provide complete stories or unwilling to trust the reader will return if the book is good enough. At least I got it free so only wasted time. Can only imagine fury of reader who squandered limited book budget on these! -
This set includes the first three books in The Savage Series. These books should not be read as standalones, and this set makes it easy to read them in order. There is violence and adult situations so 18+. While parts of this series are worth reading, overall the storyline is inconsistent and leaves many unanswered questions. Maybe they will be answered in future books, but at this point I'm not sure I want to continue reading it.

Reading the interactions with potential couples between the different characters were definitely my high points in the book along with seeing the perspectives of Clara's parents.
The multiple kidnappings and attempted rapes were not the most exasperating occurrence in the book for me, it was the numerous unnecessary testosterone filled squabbles between the men who were courting Clara and her inability to make a decision on when the choice of her mate was obvious.
It'll be interesting to see how this series ends! -
In a nutshell this novel is a post-apocalyptic, steampunk, time travel, romance novel that includes genetically engineered savages that are designed to save the human race. This is what it says on Amazon. â For fans of The Outlander and The Black Dagger Brotherhood â This is nothing like The Black Dagger Brotherhood. I would have let my 12 year old self read the Savage series but not the BDB. The only real steam in these books is in the pipes that heat the city in this story. The h is a virgin and stays that way throughout the first three books. Some of the guys from the "Outside" realm are awesome alphas but thats about the only commonality there is. Someone posted this three book set in the Dark Erotica Goodreads group. I was disappointed. The story is interesting and has a decent premise but I could see that it wasn't going where I would have liked. There are a number of typos but not enough to detract from the story. Books 1 & 2 end on cliffhangers, 3 is a prequel and goes back in time so it ignores unresolved issues. I won't be continuing to read this series.

Not good. I think I should get credit for all 3 titles for my challenge these were such a labor to read. I never finished them before, because the first two are so bad I couldn't bear the third... which is the best of the three. It is connected to another of her series which is okay but not these.
What is bad...
The language. The speach is supposed to be circa 1890 but comes off more 1790. The terms male and female are so over used I wanted to puke. All kisses are crushing and bruising.
Arrested development. Asteroid hits the earth and a future group of humans saves some of the people in biospheres but they stay stuck in the 1890s (1790s... Oh my ankles are showing!!!). Really, no social development, no language or even fashion changes in 130 years? Seriously?!? The 1890s were INDUSTRIAL. The automobile was being developed. Did the dust cloud kill all the brain cells? They bothered to save people but apparently no scientists or people of education?
The 'select' and the 'Band' and the mating thing. Aagh! Don't get me started.
If this pops up because you read the authors "Death" series... don't bother. -
From abused princess to a fighting queen
A strong story though confusing at times who are the fragments and why are they there, why call the band savages just because they live outside while Clara lives in a bubble, her beloved father had gone and she is left with the wicked queen Ada a drunk a molester a nothing, then she meets one of the âsavagesâ who becomes more than a protector. Theses stories are her life the ups the downs the warrior in her the fight to live and help her subjects yet she is a âselectâ so has to choose a mate yet two are in her heart and Mathew is always the nearest. She releases them deciding not to choose. In these stories sheâs captured tortured escapes and fights again while helping others she knows little of helping herself and her heart. I recommend these three books and Iâm looking forward to the rest of Tamara Rose Blogetts books on this theme -
Wow
This one comes with 3 books in one and holy cow, does it deliver! It's set in a futuristic time, has time traveling, kings and queens, guards (though not what we think of), and so much action! Am amazing read! I finished all 3 in about 3 days total. Can't wait to read the next one! -
The first 2 books star an indecisive heroine, while the world is interesting you'll be left with cliffhangers. The 3rd book is about her mother and before the original heroine was born until after, should have been a prequel.

Brill
Updating my reviews as been off line. These stories were exciting and substantial but it is to encourage you to buy the next set so I'm using my imagination to how I'd like this saga to end. -
Awesome
Awesome series and cannot wait to read the rest. I would read book 3 first however, since itâs a prequel to the main character and how she came to be. Wish someone would have told me that ahead of time. Still awesome -
Bad grammar
Once again this series has poor grammar, missing commas, and an author who cannot remember her characters names or who she spelled them. These items are quite jarring for someone who reads a lot of books. -
Binge three books at once!
The first two books built up a momentum. Good character development and story line. The third book is a prequel. Some secrets are revealed. This series has romance and epic drama. -
Best Box set I've read so far!!!
This box set is exquisitely written. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who loves sci-fi paranormal type books. I'm definitely going to be finishing this series as it progresses!!! -
Really enjoyed reading The Savage Series 1-3. Loved the detail and all the action. Once you figure out all the parties and how they are related to each other it's just so interesting and easier to follow. I highly recommend reading and look forward to reading more by Tamara Rose Blodgett.

Disappointing
I assumed that the entire Box Set would be a Complete Series of the Beginning Novel. It is not. Don't both with it -
DNF. Touted as a series that fans of Outlander will enjoy. It's a nope from me. Very Twilightish.

Great series
This series is about the different groups that inhabit earth after a devastating meteor attack. There's savages who live on the land, sphere-dwellers, who live inside spheres built to sustain life after the meteors and who never have ventured outside, and criminals sent from the future to this land.
I definitely recommend this read. -
There were quite a few problems with these books, to my mind. I could handle the strange, virtually unexplained societies that the novel expected you to follow - with little understanding of how they came to exist in the way they did - both socially and environmentally - but the romance (which, really, is the whole damn point) was just SO FRUSTRATING.
I understand love triangles. What I don't understand is a seven-way love FIASCO.
The main character is something called a 'select' (a term that I did not understand until it was rehashed for the fifteenth time it was that vague to me) and therefore has her pick of the most athletic, buff men of the clan. FUN TIMES, one might think. But no. It was just frustrating. All you get is a few kisses and lo and behold - she is in love with everyone and cannot make up her mind and three books later you're no closer to an answer.
Don't keep your readers guessing that long, they will give up.
And more than that, some of the characters seem to change purpose half-way through. The best friend is suddenly the enemy, but earlier he was passionately and purely in love with her? SO CONFUSING.
These were certainly some confused books. -
A Post-Apocalyptic, Steampunk, Time Travelling, Romantic Novel About Genetically Engineered Savages Saving The Human Race.
Seriously, that's the most succinct description of this trilogy. The first book starts off as a post-apocalypse survival story following the 1890 meteorite storm that threatens the survival of the human race then quickly morphs into a Steampunk Romance of the Princess Clara, of the Ohio Sphere, as she plans to flee an abusive suitor into the dangerous "Outside." Meanwhile, the genetically engineered descendants of survivors who did not entrance into the sheltering Spheres have been plotting how to open a Sphere and begin negotiations with the inhabitants to bolster their declining population. Which leads to multiple kidnappings, courtships and quarrels which in turn lead to generalized chaos.
To be fair, there are more books in the series; in which, presumably, Princess Clara sorts out which suitor, of a half-dozen who might leave the choice to her, she will pick--assuming she can stay out of the control of several who would claim her against her will. -
Needs editing, some less shopping list writing, serious cut of scene, and dialogues could be made a little bit more real, oh, and maybe a little bit of world building? What is the value of pearls in an economy seriously damaged and with little food?
Also I'm beginning to think that American ya are all wimp stupid girls, the last ten ya books I read had characters that couldn't be tolerated at one kilometer of distance.
Oh, and I seriously want to eat seafood asap :)

gave it another try. managed to read 20 pages before getting back to the same concepts as above.
also the one-one mating in a society where there are 15 males for 1 females makes no sense in evolutionary terms. the genetic pool would be so diminished that the whole race would go extinct very shortly. As well as having no kid before 20 yo makes as well no sense in a world that is back to prehistorical age as far as medical and technology are. -
I read books 1 and 2 of this.
The characters were interesting as was the world building. I kept waiting for it to get better but it just never did. And by better, I mean that the main character would have some kind of personal growth. Clara is essentially the same at the end of book 2 as the beginning of book 1 which is disappointing as a lot has happened in between.
There are also a load of plot inconsistencies.
I was also disturbed by the constant beatings. There is a lot of abuse that occurs through the two books that I read. The character dynamics are very unhealthy and by the end of book 2 didn't seem like it was going to get any better. If there's going to be abuse, I need someone to learn from the situation and change. -
Ugh, these books give you just enough to make you curious about what will happen next. The pace is slow. All the action scenes play out the same. Bad guys always manage to escape just to turn up later aand make trouble. The lead femail can't seem to make what is an obvious decision. The whole book was s wordy. The conversations were sometimes hard to follow. Even with all that there is something about the concept that kept me reading. Maybe if I had read them one at a time it would not have been so bad. This was free on amazon. I don't know yet if I want to pay to finish this. This shhould count as three books on the reading challenge.

Good enough
Good enough
this was very interesting. the way the books read was just enough to keep you interested. the first two books were pretty good then all the sudden the third book jumped backwards leaving you stunned because you weren't for sure what was the point of doing it like that. I gave a 4 out of 5 due to this. I just hope that the rest of the series goes better without so much jumping around...but be prepared on the way this series is written...the way they speak takes a minute to get use to.
