Kate Genovese's heartfelt and sincere account of her son's descent into drugs, eventually claiming his life at age 30, is a must-read for families and friends who are confronted with the disease of drug addiction. She provides honest recollections that paint a dark picture of how addiction takes hold of lives, and not just of the user. She tells of her frustration with law enforcement, the court system and politicians who fail to recognise that drug addiction is a disease that needs to be addressed through treatment rather than incarceration.
