This was a random set of podcasts. It sounds like a regular thing but only a selection were pulled together for Audible. Some were better than the others. Some were lists of "bests", like best John Hurt films. Some were discussing particular films (best and worst). Some were one on ones with figures within the film industry. And the last three were recordings of live shows. The lists were weak on content. The best and worsts were a bit self indulgent. The one on ones were particularly good. I like to hear about the mechanics of things, in this case, how movies are made. The live shows were let down because they really needed to be seen. There were film clips with little dialogue but no way of knowing what they were like because I couldn't see them. But there were some good parts and it was an easy listen whilst I was doing housework. I wonder whether there is supposed to be more of these?

Interesting ideas but I'm not entirely sure why this is classed as a book when to me it appears to be more of a podcast however if it is on Goodreads it must be a book. Interesting content despite this though.

This was another Audible Original that I either got free or on offer, and again I decided to just give it a go based on the subject matter being about films. I am a huge film fan, and back when cinema's were a thing that you could go to, my blog (that these reviews ultimately end up on) predominately was a film review blog. I even took an accreditation course to become a film reviewer - the course never panned out and I've come to realise that as I take a lot of things at face value, I'm actually not that good a reviewer - not that that's stopped me from reviewing books instead now that cinemas are closed...

Anyway, I digress (another thing I do), so I got this Audible Original a while ago but hadn't gotten around to listening to it yet. I have to admit I wasn't as keen on this as some others I've listened to and loved. But I think that's mostly down to the fact that I'm not that big a fan of Kermode himself. I always felt he was a bit self righteous. Which I guess is a trait that most critics have. Probably a good thing I never became one.

His insights are decent as ever, and his interviewing skills are certainly good enough to keep you entertained, but if you're just a film fan and not a Kermode fan you might not be quite the audience this series was aimed at. Enjoyable non-the-less but I probably wouldn't get another by him.

It was alright, Kermode discusses various different films, both bad and good, but aside from his analysis of Punch Drunk Love, I didn’t feel like I gained any true insight. That being said, he’s a good host, is likeable as well as he is knowledgeable, and he recommended some bloody good films.

    5.5/10

Kändes som en välproducerad podcast-säsong, fast med avsnitt som fattades. Som om dom stängde ner produktionen mitt i. Intressanta avsnitt, de som faktiskt finns där. Riktigt konstigt faktiskt.
