I was fourteen and he was sixteen, and yes, it was magical. But that kiss didn't exactly change my life. To tell you the truth, I didn't even think about it-or Nicky Windsor-for the next ten years . . . until fate, in the guise of my grandparents, brought us back together again.
Now everything has spun out of control. I'm ducking reporters and photographers when I try to leave home. My friends act as if I'm someone they don't know anymore. The whole world seems to be watching me, wanting to see some kind of modern Cinderella story.
But trust me, I'm no man's princess. I'm more comfortable in tennis shoes than in a tiara, more likely to rock a bucket than a ball gown, and more liable to fall on my face than to pull off a graceful wave.
The only thing that keeps me from running away and hiding is Nicky. He's all I've ever wanted in a man: hot, hunky and head-over-heels in love with me. I think I feel the same way. I think I want to be with him forever.
But the idea of life with the royal family terrifies me. Even if I have found my one and only, can I handle what comes after our happy ending?
The Anti-Cinderella (The Anti-Cinderella Chronicles #1) Reviews
-
Happily ever after with royalty seems like the perfect setting for a book any girl who watched the royals along with the rest of the world would love. Also with the current Hoo-haa of the British royal family, they've been up on the news far more than they've ever been. All the gossip sites seem to take absolute pleasure in making sure everyone knew that the British royal brothers are at the standstill with their relationship these days. Thus it seemed only right for me to take a chance with this book and see how it goes.
The main reason that attracted me to this book was the premise, the setting of the book seemed more than perfect. A fairy-tale coming alive. Unfortunately the execution did not stay up for the hype for me. The story just fell flat for me. I could not completely like either our H or h and rather liked Shelby and Ed more and that is saying a lot considering they do not even make appearances that much. The writing style too did not excite me that much and I felt as if I was just reading some kind of YA novel. The depth of the story did not reach the level that I would have liked. Unfortunately although I was looking forward for a modern day fairy-tale, I ended up being left utterly unsatisfied. -
This is the first book I read by Tawdra Kandle. I really really liked it!
It was sweet. It was low-angst. But what I liked most of all is that the storyline seemed like it could be real. And it perfectly suited the craving I had for a feel-good, royalty romance given all the Meghan and Harry that has been on my social media since their wedding. -
First, I want to thank Tawdra Kandle for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Anyone who knows me knows I am a HUGE fan of the Royals and anything to do with Pop Culture. So, when I saw the cover of Twadra’s The Anti Cinderella book and read the synopsis oh I had to read it. Not to mention she had to release the book right before the big royal wedding!!! Pure genius on her part!!
I love how in the Dedication she talks about her grandmother telling her stories about two princesses Elizabeth and Margaret. That’s where her love of all things royal came to be. I grew up watching Princess Diana and had a love for her family. To this day I love all things to do with the royal family.
I have been a fan of Tawdra’s writing for a while now and have enjoyed many of her past books. However, this book to me this book blew all of them out of the water. This one grabbed my attention, I loved the characters, the names of the grandparents cracked me up the book made me smile, laugh, at points made me cry, made me wish I could have a love story like this one, and excited to find out that this was going to be a series-that I must continue reading.
This is my 100th book I have read this year. Out of all the romances that I have read. I don’t think there Is another love story that has touched me more than this one. I am saying that cus they met when they were young. Their families knew eachother. Well…I cant tell you the rest. You need to read it for yourself. But it is a beautiful story.
If you ever wanted to know what it was like dating a celebrity or Royal then you must read this book!! Not that I have had the honor of dating one (only in my dreams have I dated Prince Harry) but man she does a great job at making you feel like you are right there in the mix of the media.
I am so glad that this book is part of a series! I didn’t want this book to end. I also think that Tawdra needs to keep this writing style in her upcoming books. -

This was my first Tawdra Kandle and I was pleasantly surprised. I've always enjoyed a book about an american falling in love with a royal. It was sweet and cute, and no detailed on page sex which i appreciated. There were a few things I didn't enjoy such as Nicholas not respecting Kyra saying No in joining him at the hotel room. I also didn't enjoy where Kyra lost herself, didn't stand up for herself and Nicholas became angry with her. These are things that make it hard to read m/f romance for me. The ending was cute where Nicholas finally wrote a letter to Kyra. I guess this is a hea even though there are several more books in this series.

This is the first time I am reading this author and yes, It was really something amazing and refreshing to read her book.
The story revolves around the prince and the normal girl and how they manage to fall in love and how they deal with it was really something enjoyable.
Though yes, there are more book two and three are also there but I was happy reading one as well as there is no cliffhanger or any questions left to answer.
A GOOD READ FOR ME! -
Kyra and Nicholas = ❤
It's been awhile since I've read a Tawdra Kandle book. And this one did not disappoint. Kyra and Nicholas story was absolutely incredible and I honestly couldn't put it down. I can't wait to see how the rest of this series will unfold with these two. 💜💜💜 -
A super fun, fast read! I loved the story, the characters and the plot! This was a good read and leaves the reader happy with the ending, but also open to another book in the series. The reader can stop here and be ok, but will also love knowing that there is another book to read after this one!

The timing of this story couldn't be more perfect. The royal wedding of Harry & Meghan, and the fan fare behind a fast relationship. This story made me have all the "feels". I loved that the author had her characters text to each other, showed the press in a light that might make you hate them a little less, and that there was letter writing. They might not be Harry & Meghan, but Kyra & Nicky are a story of their own, and yes, a Cinderella can wear converse.
-
I really thought this was going to be a better book - I guess I had high hopes - It started out cute, but I really didn't need to know all that stuff about the planting and what they were doing. I guess it was hard to connect to the characters for me. It's hard me for me explain. I dont know if I will finish this series or not. We will see.

The Anti-Cinderella is the first book in a 3 book new series following the lead characters of Kyra Duncan and Prince Nicholas Windsor. This title is right up my alley as I am about as opposite of Cinderella as one could possibly get.
Kyra (not Keera) and Nicky are old friends having spent summer vacations together at the beach when they were young. Their grandmothers were old friends and that lent to many days spent together, sand castle competitions and first kisses. One summer Nicky stopped coming for his visits and just like that Kyra was back to reality.
Fast forward 10 years and Prince Nicky is all grown up and still as handsome as ever. Kyra has grown up too now focused on sustainability and getting the earth back to its natural state. Nicky has taken his “duties” into much the same avenues looking for ways to reduce food waste and make sure it gets back to the people who need the food to begin with. Their paths lead back to one another (with a little assist from Honey and Handsome (Ky’s grandparents) who help set up the reunion) and they find they still have some feelings toward each other. It was fun following along with all the self doubt that Kyra had as far as being able to fit in with the royal family. And also her not feeling like she measured up to who she thought someone like Nicky would want to be with.
This book was pretty fast in the feelings develop stages but I was glad to see the author took time to really explore not only the “mortal dates royalty” angle but also being in a long distance relationship. I enjoyed the secondary characters developed in this novel as well as knowing there would be at least 2 more books in the series hoping exploring how this Anti-Cinderella finds her footing in her new world.
Not many gripes reading through this except for Kyra’s name. Now personally I’ve known a few people with the name pronounced both Keera or Kyra, not knowing how to pronounce a main characters name is a pet peeve of mine. Now at the beginning Nicky calls her Ky which the lends to the (eye) pronunciation but it still throws me to read it. There is a scene in which she yells out to the paparazzi it wasn’t pronounced Keera so that helps. Anyway I’m sure it is petty on my part but it distracts me from enjoying what I’m reading 100% not knowing haha.
Overall another enjoyable read from Tawdra Kandle who I am fairly new to. I received an advance copy without any expectations for review, any and all opinions expressed are my own. Can’t wait for the next 2 chapters The Anti-Cinderella takes London and The Anti-Cinderella takes on the world. -
I have lost track of how many times I have read this book, because it is my all-time favorite book by Tawdra Kandle. It came out around the time that Harry and Meghan announced their engagement. I picked it up to reread the other morning, only to later read the announcement that Prince Philip had passed in his sleep. It seemed meant to be to be revisiting this world. And then I realized I had never posted a review. Shame on me!
This is the first in a set of three books about an American girl named Kyra (pronounced k-eye-rah] Duncan and her childhood summertime beach playmate Nicky Windsor. The rest of the world knows him as Prince Nicholas.
The beauty of childhood is that royalty and celebrity don't mean much. What is more important is who can build the better sandcastle, chasing the waves, and eating ice cream cones, all while trading barbs, having fun, and creating those beautiful memories of friendship. Of course, after 10 years, children grow up and boys and girls see each other in a different light. Royal life doesn't necessarily get in the way for most of us who had these friends, but even general life can. So I think a lot of us can relate to the nostalgia.
Fast forward 10 more years and now Kyra and Kicky are grown. Though their worlds are vastly different, they have still pursued similar goals in their respective careers. This, plus an attraction that never really went away, sets the stage for a transcontinental romance that is based on more than just physical attraction, but is guaranteed to make you swoon.
A relationship with a royal [or any celebrity] is not going to be easy. Every aspect of your life is now on display. But the right match can make it all worth it.
Dubbing Kyra as the Anti-Cinderella is perfect, because nowadays, I don't think many woman really want that kind of a fairytale that we grew up with in the older princesses. Kyra is strong, determined, and real. That is why Nicky falls in love with her. That's why when you read this, you want her to be your best friend. And Nicky is amazingly down-to-earth and wonderful.
Many of us have had some kind of a celebrity romance fantasy at one point, royal or otherwise. This light story captures the pros and cons of such, without losing focus on the romance. That's why I have read it so many times. I hope you will enjoy it. -
Reading these books is like sitting down and watching the best, most addictive reality TV. They are filled with the gritty realness you love, but also tell a wonderful story, edited and beautifully orchestrated to leave you smiling by the end.
This story follows a passionate young woman as she confronts a lingering “what-if” in the most romantic way possible. Cara is in her final year of school, dedicated as ever to her sustainable cause, but essentially up in the air as to where she will end up for her future. Sure, her family owns a big company that will gladly welcome her into the fold upon graduation, but she seems a bit too unsettled to simply accept that. The necessary shake up happens when she gets set up by her grandparents in a spur of the moment dinner. Not out of the ordinary, Cara dutifully shows up dressed accordingly to discover her teenage crush was invited as well.
Nicky, said crush, also happens to be a member of the royal family. Oh, and he was her first kiss before disappearing into the wonderful world of non-stop T.V. coverage and royal family businesses. While these two should be destined to remain just good old friends, they somehow manage to beat the odds and dive into a relationship. This relationship had it all – sizzle, romance, and the inevitable rocky times that come with a life in the spotlight. Nobody said it would be easy!
These two were just wonderful to watch. They each discovered their faults, strengths, and loves together (and sometimes the hard way) and it was so… believable. A book about royalty seems to be the stuff of fairy tales but the author really created some very relatable characters here. As a side note – I even stayed in one of the hotels mentioned in the book and I was instantly transported back through the wonderful description included. These books easily grab me and don’t let go until they’re done. It’s that reason that I usually tear through them all in one sitting (ish). If you’re looking for a fun and unexpected romance, definitely pick this one up! -

Until next time... Happy Reading! -
I've been a fan of Tawdra's for years though it's been ages since I've read one of her books. When this one became available, I just couldn't resist picking it up. After all, I'd make a terrible Cinderella myself.
The Good:
I love that Kyra is just a normal girl. She's bright, she's sweet, and she's real. In fact, all of the characters in this book were well written and well developed. By the end of the book, you felt as if you knew them well enough to know what they'd do. That's not a bad thing! It's like knowing your sister won't wear lime green because she thinks it makes her look like a beach ball. The story moves along at a nice pace and if you aren't careful, it will keep you up far past your bedtime.
The Bad:
I'm trying to think of something, but it's tough. I guess I'll throw out the one thing that actually caused me to stop reading and think, "Really?" It's a little thing but Nicky didn't know what jammies were. Now, I have a lot of British friends and they'd know what I meant if I said I was going to put my jammies on. Plus, Nicky has spent time in the states so this shouldn't be a foreign term for him.
The Summary:
If you got up at insane hours to watch the latest royal wedding, love real love stories, or are looking for a new sweet series, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy The Anti-Cinderella. I know that it kept me up way too late and I'm going to need a nap very soon. -
After the hype of the real royal wedding, this was the perfect timing for the Anti-Cinderella to be released!! I was totally obsessed with all things royal! :)
Ms. Kandle did not disappoint! Falling half in love with the prince while still a kid enjoying summers in adjoining beach houses, Kyra has that fantasy that most of us dream about. I mean come on!! Adjoining beach houses with royalty?? Playing in the sand and eventually falling into that first love with a prince? Yes, please! It's been years since Kyra & Nicky have seen each other but fate throws them back together again! I loved the various twists & turns that lead them to their HEA(which I won't spoil for you here) . Something else that I completely loved apart from the romance of the story was Kyra's work on sustainability ! All true facts and so interesting to learn!! The only downfall of the book was that I wanted MORE!! lol -

Cute, fun read
I'm not sold on the anti-Cinderella bit, but the story's a light, easy read. The writing is well done, the characters overall fun with a touch of angst and stubborn streaks, as well as a passion for not wasting food. You know, the stereotypical royal romance.
The modern royal aspect echoes the author's interest in the royal family and the corresponding leeches to society. Oops, I mean media.
An example of the writing:
"In that moment, everything else in the world vanished. There wasn’t distance or time or space. I was at once the same fourteen-year-old girl dazzled by her first kiss on a Florida beach, and I was me, in the present, in the arms of the same man who was once again weaving his spell over me. I was every age I would ever be, but it didn’t matter, because I never wanted to leave him. I never wanted him to stop kissing me, touching me . . . I was drunk with the need surging to life inside of my body." -
I found this to be a very enjoyable and refreshing read. The book begins Nick and Kyra's romance. It does feature a HEA for now but their are two future books planned. This cute and fun royal romance is written with unique slant. Kyra doesn't feel she's Princess material and suffers from serious doubts and anxiety about it. I also really liked that it showcased the downside of it all, the lack of privacy, loss of friends, being stalked by the media and having the whole world watching and judging you. At its heart this is a really sweet romance that starts with a kiss when he's sixteen and she's fourteen, then years apart, before the real romance begins when they are reunited. With powerful, realistic emotions, sweet love, drama, humor and passion this is a pleasurable and entertaining read. This is my honest, voluntary review.

I know a story’s good when you actually feel the feelings of the characters – nervous, excited, heartache, passion – it’s all here, as if you’re a part of the story, living in the same moments. That’s how this story makes me feel. The characters are that well-drawn, and the storyline is that well-crafted.
This is the story of Kyra and Nicholas who met as children and grew up to fall in love 10 years later. It’s filled with so many emotions that at times may seem like they leap from the pages. There are moments that are fun, moments that are frustrating, moments that will make you laugh, and moments that will make you cry. But there won’t be a moment that you will want to put the story down and walk away – ever. This is the story that will stay with you long after the final page. Luckily there is more to follow!! 😉 -
This was a sweet quick read that had banter, romance a little sprinkling of spice.
I loved the authenticity of our MC, whilst she loved who she was and comfortable, there were moments where she struggled and lost herself a little, and if that isn't realistic I don't know what is.
I loved our Prince Charming, he is charming and loving and he doesn't want our MC to change as he loves her just as she is.
I liked the realism of the media attention and the relationship that grew from childhood.
I just struggled to connect a little with the relationship as they spent so much of the Book apart, which I get it, it was long distance but considering it wasn't a long story, it felt a bit too rushed as they didn't spend enough time together to reach their Fairytale ending.
But it was a great read! -
WARNING! Book Hangover Ahead!
This book made me happy I don't believe in fairy tales, because reality is just so much better! I couldn't put it down. I even got so engrossed in it that I snapped at someone when they called me because they had interrupted my reading time. No one was safe! When I had to Adult, I was thinking about when I could get my hands on it again. The romance was beautiful and swoon-worthy, while the farming techniques and ideas of food banks and charities, were excellent and really kept my attention. It brought out a passion in me to help others. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough. I highly recommend it for all the cynical, secret hopeless romantics out there.

rcvd an advanced reader copy from the author for giving my two cents. we meet grad student kyra who is dressed up to go to her grandparents for dinner...great she'll be bored but when she walks in she looks at the face of none other than her childhood friend nicky...or known to the world as Prince Nicholas. boy did he grow up fiiinneee. her grandparents tell him all about her sustainable crops shes dojng for school and he is intrigued. a casual dinner out to relearn about one another leads to an onslaught of paparazzi wrecking havoc in kyras life. but nicky is worth it. can kyra handle the pressure of being with a royal with everyone critiquing her every move? will nicky be a hindrance or a lifesaver in the equation?
-
So I received this book as an eARC and while I loved the plot and characters of this book, I found it kind of lacking. It felt like it was very rushed and I found myself wanting to explore the characters feelings more not only for each other, but of themselves during troubling times. There was very little conflict (which I am totally not opposed to) but I could just feel when the big issue was going to arise and I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Normally, I like to be surprised by the issues that arise and I felt like I could predict them all too easily in this book.
In all, it was a light, fun, read which is exactly what I needed at the moment and I am certainly looking forward to book 2. -
What a beautiful book!!
I’m a sucker for royal stories, especially good ones! Kyra’s and Nicky’s story really touched me. I enjoyed that much that I read it in one sitting. Through the book I felt everything they were feeling, laughed with them and felt sad with them as well. I’m so excited that we get to see more in the future!
An amazing book you should probably read like now!!
P.S The playlist at the end gave me all the feels!!
