    Series: Anthology
    Publication Date: 9/11/18

I decided to read this anthology because there were several new-to-me authors in it as well as a couple of authors that I love. It is almost 700 pages (according to Amazon), so it is a pretty long read - but you can read a story and take a break if you like :) Madeline Martin's contribution was my favorite, but they were all good -- well-written books -- even those that I don't normally read - like shapeshifters and lots of supernatural beings, magic, etc.

Her Highland Beast by Madeline Martin

This lovely tale of curses, sacrifice, and love is a cross between Beauty and the Beast and Princess and the Pea – with just a smidgen of the supernatural thrown in. As with all of Madeline Martin’s work, the writing was superb, the plot was flawless and the characters were so very likable.

As a boy of fifteen, Duncan wanted to be a hero. So, when he heard a scream off in the distance, he left his mother and her lady’s maid alone in the forest to go to the rescue. When he gets there, he finds a man who is dead and a young girl, perhaps ten-years-old, almost at death’s door. He scoops up the girl and takes her to a monastery so they can care for her. When he gets back to his mother both she and her lady’s maid are dying. The lady’s maid is a sorceress and she curses Duncan before she dies.

Evina is a warrior. She’s been earning her way as a mercenary since she was about thirteen and she is so very, very lonely. She always walks away from every battle, unscathed, when all of those around her are dying. She has no memory of her past – she doesn’t know who her family is – there is absolutely no clue. So, after the last battle, when all around her have died, she is walking toward – what? It is bitter cold and she hasn’t eaten for days – it would be so very easy to just lie down in one of the huge snow drifts and stay there. Then she smells the most mouthwatering aroma – food – and she heads toward it.

She is amazed at what she finds when she gets there. A castle with a garden completely filled with sunshine and warmth – and in the middle a huge Rowan tree with very few leaves left on it. As she is reaching toward a leaf, the most handsome man she’s ever seen tackles her – literally.

It is so lovely to read this story of what true love is really all about.

Rescued by a Sea Nymph by Rebekah Lewis

I haven’t read anything by Rebekah Lewis before, but this was a really well written and well plotted and I liked the characters. It is based on the Little Mermaid story. Now, there is a lot more of the paranormal in this story than I like, but that didn’t keep it from being a well-done tale. It did leave me with an unanswered question since Demeter’s grandson’s identity was constantly mentioned – yet we never learned who he was.

James is attacked by the seventeen-year-old James Paxton, the Earl of Underwood and a gang of his young friends. They put him in a skiff and row out – then, they cut off his hand. Because Underwood doesn’t want James to die right away – they then cauterize the stump – and then push him overboard. James knows he is going to die, it is just a matter of how quickly.

Ione is a sea nymph and she is very lonely and very bored. She’s just swimming around – not even sure where she is – when she sees humans in a rowboat. Humans can be real trouble for her kind. Then, she sees one of them being thrown overboard. She can’t let him die, so she grabs him and tows him toward shore. As she gets closer to shore, it is harder to manage to drag him because her fins and tail interfere. She has to transform into a human form to actually get him onto the shore.

James is only half conscious at the time, but he witnesses Ione’s transformation. Ione has called her cousin, Poseidon, to her in order to get him to heal James – all of the bruises, broken bones – and re-grow his hand. Poseidon agrees to all but the hand. Instead, he puts a hook there. If James turns out to be all Ione hopes he will be, then Poseidon will replace the hand.

Ione has three days to decide if she wants to go back to the sea or if she wants to stay in her human form. She wants James and he wants her – but is it enough for her to give up her humanity for?

    Scandalous Liaison by Amanda Mariel

This was a lovely second-chance romance with older main characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the read.

Grace and Lewis were in love when they were young, but Grace was forced to marry a Duke who was rich in order to save her family from ruin. The duke loved her, treated her well and gave her two daughters. She came to love him, but she was always in love with Lewis. Over twenty years later, she is a widow and Lewis has never married when they meet along the road on their way to the christening of their godchild. It is lovely to see their passion even after all those years and to see if they can make a life together when his life is in America and hers is in England.

Infinitely My Marquess by Dawn Brower

I think this was a takeoff on a mixture of several fairy tales – Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, etc. It had multiple wickeds in it – step-mothers, step-sisters, step-fathers, grandfathers, fathers – goodness, there were a pile of them. There were an awful lot of characters in such a short story, so you had to pay attention to keep them all straight.

Ryan Simms was a happy, loving child until his father remarried and brought a miserable step-mother and two equally miserable step-sisters into their home. Then, just a few years later, his father died and he belonged, body and soul, to his very wicked step-mother. She let all of the servants go and made Ryan do all of their work while she spent money on herself and her daughters. Finally, when Ryan was about twelve, his grandfather, the Duke of Ashthorne, came and removed him from Lady Penelope’s custody. Although his grandfather was a cold and forbidding man, at least he would prepare Ryan for a future.

Annalise, the daughter of the Duke of Wolfton, had a miserable life. Her father was cold, cruel and controlling. She couldn’t even choose her own gowns – he chose them for her. Somehow, Annalise managed to be a sweet and caring person despite her father’s cruel punishments. Her poor brother, Marrock, was just as much under the control of the duke as Annalise was.

When Annalise met Ryan Simms, Marquess of Cinderbury while visiting her step-sister, Estella, there was an instant attraction. The pull was strong, but Ryan didn’t trust love and Annalise knew that her father would never permit her to marry or have any sort of caring relationship. These two were fated to be together, but how were they going to manage it? Well – add in a fairy godmother in the form of a grandmother and a brother, and you have your answer.

It was a lovely read and I enjoyed it.

It Must by Magic by Sandra Sookoo

I’m not a fan of shape-shifters, but I can still appreciate a well-written, well-plotted story with characters that are very likable. You have an evil queen, a loving father, curses, shape-shifters, centaurs, and fairies – something for everyone.

Averell Woode is thirty years old and lives in an enchanted tree. She’s lived there since she was an infant with her father who is a huntsman for Queen Grimhilde, the ruler of Sarringden. Her father tells her that they live there for her protection and that there are many evils in the world, but she’ll be safe as long as she stays near home. One day, while her father is away in the village, she gets restless and wants to see more of the wood that she has ever seen before. As she is moving along, she hears voices in the distance and stealthily moves closer to see who is there. It is a group of men, hunters, who should not be hunting in these woods. One of them draws her attention and she can’t draw her eyes away from him.

Prince Devon James Quinn Lansdowne – Quinn – and his brother Henry were cursed as children by a disgruntled witch disguised as a fairy. They were in their human form by day but would be wolves by night. Quinn quietly snuck up on the woman hiding in the tree line and was struck by her beauty and pure innocence. He was drawn to her, and that night, in his wolf form, he went back and trailed her to where she lived – and it really was in an enchanted tree – just as she had said.

Quinn and Averell have a lot to overcome and many battles to win before they can finally get their HEA, but it was lovely to see them get theirs.

Luring a Lord’s Love by Tammy Andresen

Lots of magical happenings in this book! I’m not usually a fan of that much magic, but this one was well written and handled it well. The only thing I didn’t like was that I didn’t see a real resolution to the villain. She was routed for a time, but I was left with a blurb that said I’d have to read the next book to see the resolution. That is fine, series do that all the time and I usually like an overarching theme or quest, etc. in a series. But – since I’m not a fan of ‘magical’ books, I won’t be reading the next one, so I’ll miss out on the resolution.

Arianna is on her way to her grandmother’s house (a la Red Riding Hood) to take her grandmother a basket of food when she is set upon by a bunch of men in wolf costumes. There has been a lot of crime in her village lately – girls even disappearing. So, Arianna has been skittish and fearful during the entire walk to her grandmothers. When the wolfmen appear, she runs and manages to hide until she hears their dogs, and she knows she can’t hide from them. Being an intelligent young woman, she knows that the only way to escape the dogs is to hide in water. So, she makes for the estuary, enters the freezing water and clings to a log. The dogs and men hang around so long that the tide starts to go out and take her and her log with it. She is sure that it is safer to stay with the log than it is to face the wolfmen. The water is frigid and she’s moving further and further out to sea. When she comes to for a moment, she can’t believe what she sees. There is a ship beside her and a man is diving into the frigid water and swimming toward her.

Nicholas Fairfield is part of a magical family and all of his brothers have been drawn to magical women and have all just recently married. Nick has laughed at them and tells them that certainly won’t happen to him. Then, through his spyglass, he sees something floating in the sea – and as he gets closer, he can tell that it is a person. He has to rescue the person. That person turns out to be a beautiful young woman with bright auburn hair and he is drawn to save her and help her rescue her village.

Arianna’s grandmother has predicted the marriage of Nick and Arianna and at first, both of them are skeptical, but as the story moves on they both realize that the other is the only one for them.

    Lots of magic and excitement.

    Her Highland Beast
    by Madeline Martin
Cursed by a witch, Duncan Maclean watches his life pass as leaves fall from the great rowan tree, indicating the trickling end of his mortality. Only a special woman can break the curse, one who will be identified by the cut of an ancient spear under a layer of mattresses. Evina MacGregor cannot be injured in battle, even as her comrades fall around her, yet she cannot remember her past. After years of wandering the world in search of answers, she stumbles upon an enchanted castle and a beastly man who may hold the secret to her identity. She may be the one to break the curse, but time is running out for both of them.
    My Thoughts:
This is my favorite of this collection. A mixture of fairytales, Princess and the Pea and Beauty and the Beast this tale is not to be missed.
It is remarkable how this couple got their HEA against all odds. This one gets 4.75 of 5.0 stars.

    Rescued by a Sea Nymph
    by Rebekah Lewis
Captain James Harlow loses his hand, and nearly his life, in an encounter with a group of young miscreants. When Ione, a mermaid, saves him from drowning, she decides to trade her fins for legs and leave her old life for one on land. They are given only three days to determine if they are meant to be together, but a sociopathic young Earl endeavors to ruin it all.
    My Thoughts:
I had not read anything by this author before. This tale is a spin off on The Little Mermaid. We have James who a disturbed young man attempts to get rid of, a mermaid who rescues him from the sea and promptly falls for the injured man. With only three days to decide if she will return to the sea or live the rest of her life as a human Ione has a difficult decision to make.
I gave this tale 4.25 of 5.0 stars. It is also very well written and I will look for other books by this author.

    Scandalous Liaison
    by Amanda Mariel
In her youth, Grace Stratton, the Duchess of Abernathy, gave her heart to Lewis Duffield, an American plantation owner. Family duty tore them apart as she was required to wed another man. After years of being widowed, Grace finds herself alone with Lewis and their old flames rekindle, but can they recapture the all consuming love they once shared?
    My Thoughts:
This is a typical second chance at love scenario. Unlike the other novellas in this collection it lacks the magical element that draws the reader in. It is still an enjoyable story though.
I gave this one 4.0 of 5.0 stars. Amanda Mariel has quickly become a favorite so I know I will read more of her books in the future.

    Infinitely My Marquess
    by Dawn Brower
The Marquess of Cinderbury and Lady Annalise Palmer are two lost souls in search of salvation. Together they can help each other heal, if they can believe in love, and in each other long enough to escape the torment they’ve both suffered; as well as, uncover an unimaginable devotion.
    My Thoughts:
This is a reverse Cinderella story with the Marquess being our Cinderella like character. He has an evil stepmother and equally despicable step sisters. Can Annalise and Ryan heal each other and find love? Well when magic is involved anything is possible.
I gave this short read 4.5 of 5.0

    It Must be Magic
    by Sandra Sookoo
When Averell Woode, a huntsman's daughter hidden away in an enchanted tree, meets Quinn Lansdowne, the spare prince of Annanvale as well as a wolf shifter, sparks--and arrows--fly. Perhaps it's fate or even destiny, but love blooms between them. Too bad an evil queen holds Averell's life in the balance unless she kills Prince Charming, who is Quinn's brother. Only the heart and freewill can decide the future... and a little magic won't hurt either.
    My Thoughts:
I liked this novella but none of the others measure up to Madeline Martin’s offering. This novella is the typical shapeshifter scenario with the hero and his brother being cursed, human by day and changing to wolves by night. Love between Averell and The Prince of Annavale seems to be destined however our hero and heroine have much to overcome to get their HEA but it does eventually happen for them as in all good fairytales.
I gave this tale 4.25 of 5.0 stars.

    Luring a Lord’s Love
    by Tammy Andresen
When Arianna is attacked by men dressed as wolves in the forest, she is sure no one will help her and she dives into the icy ocean rather than be captured. Lord Nicholas Fairfield is a sailor at heart, and he can’t help but wonder about mermaids when he fishes a red-haired beauty from the sea. But the trouble engulfing her village is no myth and it’s up to him to save Arianna, her family, and the Scottish people who are under attack. But can he protect his own heart?
    My Thoughts:
I have read and reviewed Tammy Andresen books before. Fantasy and loads of magic abound in this title.
We have a mixture of fairytales here that includes Little Red Riding Hood and The little Mermaid scenario emerges again in this novella that ends in a cliffhanger. You will need to read the sequel to get the full story. I didn’t like this story enough to read the next book when it comes out.
I gave this one 3.75 of 5.0 stars. It was my least favorite of the tales.

The overall rating for this collection adds up to a 4.25 of 5.0 star rating.

This is another anthology that I just didn't have time to read all the stories! The concept for this anthology is twisted fairy tales and after reading just Madeline Martin's contribution, I am certainly going to come back to this book to read the rest!!!

Her Highland Beast by Madeline Martin - 5 stars - Duncan Maclean saved a young girl fifteen years ago and ends up cursed. While he was off saving the girl, his mother and her companion were set upon by outlaws and mortally wounded. Duncan arrives back just before they die, his mother's companion is a witch and she curses Duncan - but softens the curse when his mother begs for mercy. He will live for 15 years, his time marked by the leaves of a rowan tree, if he does not win the heart of a daughter of Morrigan, his life will end when the last leaf falls from the tree. She gives him a rusty spearhead from the spear of Assal and tells him he must put the spearhead under 12 mattresses to test any woman he thinks is a daughter of Morrigan. Duncan becomes obsessed with the tree and never leaves the castle, his time is running out and all hope seems lost. But fate seems to smile upon him when a young woman wanders into his garden. Evina MacGregor is a mercenary, she has no family and no memory of her time before waking in a monastery - she has an uncanny ability with weapons and is never injured. She stumbles into Duncan's garden during a storm and is amazed to find the garden an oasis, she touches the rowan tree and is attacked by a huge man. He takes her in the castle and his manservant Gillespie begs him to "test" her, he will take care of everything, including staffing the castle, Duncan is wary, but agrees. They feed her and offer her a bed for the night. Evina is amazed, the room is gorgeous and the bed has 12 mattresses, she is not accustomed to such luxury and even if the servants are a little strange, she looks forward to staying. But when she tries to sleep, she feels incredible pain and in the morning finds she has been cut! She has survived countless battles without so much as a scratch! She decides to leave, but after wandering in the storm, she ends up back at the castle. She demands answers and Duncan tells her of his curse (without mentioning about the Daughter of Morrigan part) it is then that he learns that Evina is the girl he saved all those years ago. Later back in her room, Evina breaks down, all her hopes and dreams seem to have been lost - in a fit of rage, she pulls all the mattresses from the bed before falling down exhausted. Within moments of falling asleep she is woken by excruciating pain. Duncan finds her, apparently dead, but Gillespie uses magic to save her. She wakes and needs answers - they tell her she is a daughter of Morrigan and show her the spearhead - they will help her learn about her mother. Duncan and Evina spend time together researching Morrigan and something starts to blossom between them. When Duncan learns how she can meet her mother, he is willing to sacrifice himself to make her greatest wish come true. Evina doesn't know the full truth of Duncan's curse, so she wants to go to her mother's realm. She knows that Duncan needs her help to break his curse and promises to return. She enters her mother's kingdom, but before she can meet her, she realizes that Duncan is dying and she needs to go to him. But if she leaves, she can never return, so she must choose, Duncan or fulfilling her greatest wish! This was a great story, I am a huge fan of twisted fairytales and this was the perfect blending of Beauty and the Beast with the Princess and the Pea. This story was well written, flows nicely, has steamy love scenes, amusing moments, magic, heartache, a lot of emotion and a lovely ending.

I will definitely be coming back to this book as soon as I am caught up with my other ARC commitments!! This book is being released at a special price for all the stories and even if you only get to read this story, it is worth every penny!!

*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that was provided to me*

Madeline Martin does it again! The Highland Beast is book one in the Twisted Fairytale Collection and if the rest of this collection is anything like Madeline’s story I will be reading the other stories as well. Her story takes on a medieval twist of The Princess and the Pea with a fantasy and mystical feel. Madeline has a true talent for writing such amazing stories and you can’t help but fall in love with her wonderful characters, Evina and Duncan. The descriptions are vivid and easy to follow. Though the story is sad it does have it’s HEA. This story has death, curses, a witch, mistrust, caring, understanding, sacrifices, kindness, friendship, grieving, rescue and yes falling in love but is it too late? You will just have to read this story to find out. I highly recommend you read this book.

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

    By Madeline Martin

Duncan is only 15 years old when he's out with his Mother and her hand maid who is also a witch. He hears a scream and runs to find a beautiful little girl laying beside a dead man who has no idea who she is. Wanting to do the right thing he takes her to a small abbey to leave her at the door for them to take her in only to realize they might need some kind of payment so he slips his ring off of his finger and puts it on hers. As he comes back to where he left his Mother and the witch he stumbles upon a gruesome scene his Mother is almost dead with blood everywhere and the old witch is curled up into a ball of pain. As his Mother is dying the witch curses him to die with a mysterious curse that I'd really rather not spoil for you.
    15 years later
Evina is a beautiful warrior who stumbles upon a mysterious castle in the middle of a snow storm. She knows nothing of her past. All she knows is that for some reason she never dies while everyone dies around her and now she has stumbled upon a castle and can feel the magic coming from the Rowan tree that is totally unaffected by the snow storm.
Can and will the curse that the witch put on Duncan be reversed?
    Could Evina be Duncan's salvation?

Madeline Martin is simply fantastic. I was totally engrossed with this book from the get go. There are so many twists and turns that you don't see coming that it never gets boring. In my opinion this book deserves way more then the 5 stars I am only allowed to give.

There are six stories in this anthology which includes some of my must read authors. Rather than read it all one after another I’m going to dip into it over the next few weeks. I'll update my review to include each novella as I finish it

Her Highland Beast by Madeline Martin 5 Stars
Fifteen year old Duncan Maclean failed to save his mother & her maid & before she died the maid cursed him. He had left his Mother to go and save a screaming girl in the forest. He has to find true love with Morrigan’s daughter before the rowan tree loses all its leaves. Nearly fifteen years later Evina a lost warrior maiden finds herself in a blizzard. Evina has no memory of her family, she is drawn to Duncan.
An engrossing short story that I read in a sitting, the characters are well portrayed & the story flows effortlessly.

Rescued by a Sea Nymph by Rebekah Lewis

Scandalous Liaison by Amanda Mariel 5 Stars
Seventeen year old Grace Brighton is in love with American Lewis Duffield but her parents are in dire straits & she's been betrothed to the Duke of Abernathy, so the pair must part. Now twenty three years later Grace is a widow & on her way to Scotland for the christening of Evangeline her nephew the Duke of Goldstone’s daughter. On the way she has the axle break on her coach. At the inn she meets Lewis again, he’s also on his way to the christening, the Duchess of Goldstone being his niece. The pair along with Eliza, Grace's companion & Jasmine, Grace's pet tiger travel together.
We first met Grace & Lewis in the first book in the Ladies and Scoundrels Series, Scandalous Endeavors which was the Goldstone's story . I always love catching up with characters from earlier books. This was a delightful read of second chances & it had the added bonus of being about a mature couple.

Infinitely My Marquess by Dawn Brower

It Must be Magic by Sandra Sookoo

Luring a Lord’s Love by Tammy Andresen 4.5 Stars
Arianna Granger is on her way to take some food to her grandmother when she sees what looks like wolves, she flees & to lose them enters the nearby estuary but she gets swept out to sea, luckily she grabs a log that’s floating by. When she thinks she can't hold on any longer a ship appears & she's rescued by Nick Fairchild.
A retelling of little red riding hood with an ice witch, a well written well paced novella, I just wish the witch had been dealt with but this will happen in a future book. Nick & Arianna are well portrayed, he is the fourth Fairchild to have his story & all of the stories have had a magical element.

Six easy reading, well written novellas. I enjoyed some more than others but all had delightful characters & the stories flowed well. Each one is ideal for whiling away a few hours

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

An amazing collection of magical stories by six talented authors. What more could you ask for? Prepare to be enchanted!

    Madeline Martin
    Her Highland Beast
A wonderful twist on The Princess and the Pea Fairytale, Madeline Martin works her magic with this wonderful tale
Duncan MacLean was only 15 when he made a choice that would change his life forever. Saving a young maiden from death instead of his mother and her maid left him being cursed with a short life. That was unless he could break the spell by the age of 30. But that called for a tall order he thought never to fulfill.
Evina MacGregor was that lass he saved and years later she comes upon Duncan. She had become a warrior but could never figure out why she never dies! She holds the power to break his curse but will she be in time?
Emotionally endearing, take the journey to see how these two come together and help each other with the magic that surrounds them.

    Sandra Sookoo
    It Must be Magic
Get lost in a fairytale come to life with magic and mayhem in abundance. Averelle had lived in the forest with her father in a hidden tree ( yes magical!). Her father was a huntsman for the queen and was often gone. On one such occasion she met Quinn who was hunting with his men near her home. As they met, there was definitely an attraction but he left with his men, only to return alone. Surprised to see him again the more they talked they were became enchanted with each other.
Quinn had his secrets being the second son, with Prince Charming, being his older brother. There were other things he needed to confess to Averell. But her mother was evil Queen Grimhilde and her magic was strong
I do not want to give anything away but I will leave you with this- prepare to be entertained and watching the story unfold as you turn the pages. A lot of the unexpected happens!!

    Luring a Lady’s Love
    Tammy Anderson
A unique twist on a classic fairy tale. Little Red Riding Hood!
What happens when you take an old fairytale and change the story a bit? You get this magical tale of a maiden taking care of her grandmother who lives in the woods. Arianna has been tasked to take a basket of food and visit Granny. But on her way she came upon some wolves that looked like men. Ok what is happening? Escaping from them she ends up in the water being saved by Nick. Here the story takes off full of magic and evil beings including an ice queen.
These two and their friends are in for one hugh confrontation as Arianna tries to save her Granny and everyone around!
I truly enjoyed the delightful novella as I do all books by this author. Cannot wait to read more books connected to this one!!

Will update my review as I rest the other stories!

Review of Her HIghland Beast by Madeline Martin

Madeline Martin is an author that I follow quite closely. Anytime, she publishes a book I am on it like a duck on a June bug. I recently was gifted a copy of Her Highland Beast to read. It is a combination of Beauty and the Beast and The Princess and the Pea fairy tales. I normally don’t read Fantasy as a genre, but when Martin publishes a story I grab it regardless of the genre. I enjoyed this story. Duncan Maclean is cursed by a witch who likens his life to the leaves on a rowan tree near his castle. As each leaf falls, it marks his life slipping away. Only a special woman can break the curse. Enter Evina MacGregor - a young woman who is a trained warrior. Can Evina break the curse? Will Duncan be saved? Grab it and find out...as well as any other Martin books you can find.

My favorite books from this box set is Her Highland Beast by Madeline Martin.
The story is about Duncan Macleanwho was cursed by a witch and now watches his life passes him by. The Curse can only be broken by a special woman, she can only be identified by the cut of an ancient spear under a layer of mattresses. Evina MacGregor cannot be hurt in battle and she cannot remember her past. She finds an enchanted castle and a man, who may hold the secret to her identity. She may be the one to break the curse. I loved this story and I am still reading the others too.

  • Elsbeth

Beautiful and magical. Non traditional fairy tales, but still you can recognize your favourite fairy tales in them.
Like Beauty and the Beast or the Princess on the pea or the Little Mermaid. Maybe even better than the original. And at least as adventurous. I loved them!

Her Highland Beast by Madeline Martin
    My Rating: ❤❤❤❤ Spice Level: 💋💋💋 1/2
This one has some Beauty and the Beast vibes with some twists that I love. Fate brought them together after all those years. I love how much detail there is to the curses and how they bring them together. They were a good match for each other and the ending definitely had me holding my breath.

Evina is a warrior and a woman that does what she wants. I really liked her and how she made it clear what she wanted. I felt bad for her when it came to remembering her past, but she needed to know.

Duncan has been locked away watching that tree for so long that he doesn't know how to be around people. He really was sweet and put her first after getting to know her. I really liked him and how he softened.

This is one of my favorites so far in this set. It's full of suspense from the start and I couldn't take my eyes off the pages. The way he lost his hand was shocking and their meeting was fate. I had no clue how it was all going to play out and loved everything from the connection between them to the story they told. The ending was perfect!

Ione wanted more than what her sisters had and was different from them. She had no problem saying what she thought or what she wanted. I loved her right away because she was such a quick thinker and wouldn't be controlled.

James loved his sister and wasn't going to let some young entAriannaitled kid take everything from him. He saw her for her and not like she was different. I loved how he didn't act shocked by the gods or how she talked or acted.

    Scandalous Liaison by Amanda Mariel
My Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤ Spice Level: 💋💋💋
I was so glad to see these two get their story! I love a past loves story, especially in a quick read. These two deserved to be together after all the time that has went by. It was clear that they loved each other from the start and that they never stopped loving each other. I was worried about what would happen near the end, but they had a lot of support behind them.

Grace is a strong woman that wished she could have followed her heart years ago. I loved her when she first appeared in another story and loved her more in this one. She always put others first and it was time to put herself first.

Lewis never forgot about her and thought she never had forgotten about him. I loved him in the previous story he was in because his heart was always in the right place. He understood why she did what she had to and that their worlds were different.

Some Cinderella and Red Riding Hood vibes with this one! I loved how much was packed into this one and the twists were unexpected. They were meant to meet and help each other. I loved that there weren't any loose ends to their pasts and that they got to know why some things happened.

Annalise is willing to take the risks to do what's right and help others. I loved her right away because she kept a smile on her face and didn't think twice about doing something. She was strong and brave at every turn.

Ryan should have had a black heart because of his upbringing, but he didn't. I loved that he thought about others so much and wanted to help. He didn't hesitate to help and wanted to protect those around him.

It Must be Magic by Sandra Sookoo
My Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤ Spice Level: 💋💋💋
It really is magic in this one! The enchanted forest comes to life in full force and will have you on the edge of your seat. I was so into it that I jumped at their first meeting like I was there. There were twists at every turn that could have kept them apart, but they only brought them closer. Magic fought them and brought them together at the same time. The ending left me wanting more in a good way. I loved that it blended Snow White, Cinderella, and many other things together.

Averell had been hidden away by her father for a good reason, but she isn't oblivious to the dangers in the woods. I loved her right away because she knew how to protect herself and listened to her heart. She was the complete opposite of the queen and couldn't hurt an innocent person.

Quinn avoids marriage because of his curse, but his wolf instincts have other ideas. I loved that he was trying to be honest, but was enjoying the freedom of being himself. He wasn't going to give her up or let her go alone into battle.

Luring a Lord’s Love by Tammy Andresen

This one will give you chills! The wolves hooked me and I had no clue how everything was going to turn out. Magic lead them to each other and helped them battle evil. The magic explains the strong pull to each other and the visions make it interesting. The ending made me hold my breath because I didn't know what would happen.

Arianna knew something was going on in her village just not how powerful it was. I loved her from the start because she knew she could trust him. She realized that magic was real and powerful.

Nick knew he had to protect her and the village. I loved that he didn't hesitate to save her and listened to her granny. He knew magic was real and that it could be good or bad.

    Great collection

This book is an anthology of authors, but I will review the one that I read from Dawn Brower - Infinitely My Marquess:

This story was insta-love kind. The Hero here was similar in circumstance with the fairy tale story of Cinderella but make no mistake in the heroines circumstance - she's not a princess whose going to save the Hero. The heroine here has her own dilemma to face. But then, all fairy tale's end in HEA right, so even if there are many hindrances in their way, the H and h overcame it all. This particular story has its own twists and turns.

The whole collection is great. The mixture of fairytale twists and paranormal stories. Overall, I enjoyed it - recommended it even.

This is an imaginative collection of stories based on twists given to age-old fairy tales. These rewritten versions are all creative and tastefully rewritten. The characters and the storylines are wonderful. Some are more obvious with the fairy tale they chose to rewrite than others, but all are well done. I loved them all, but particularly loved the story created by Madeline Martin. Just when I thought I knew where she was going...she threw a curve and the story went in a different direction. I loved it! I enjoyed the anthology tremendously and highly recommend.

  • Christine Woinich

I am basing this off the first story in this anthology. I enjoyed Her Highland Beast, which included a Princess and the Pea fairy tale mixed in with Beauty and the Beast. Evina and Duncan were destined though they almost lost each other. As their story unfolded, I became involved in the story. I cried at the end when all looked bleak, and I was touched with what the power of their love could do and what those around them were willing to do.

As I read the other stories, I will edit this post.

  • Debbie Brown

This anthology is beautifully written and starts off with a book from Madeline Martin "Her Highland Beast". The day his Mother died Duncan Maclean was cursed. He had left his Mother to go and save a screaming girl in the forest, to play the hero, but while he was gone someone killed his Mother and her maid who curses his life. He has to find true love with Morrigan’s daughter before the rowan tree loses all its leaves. The Evina a lost warrior maiden finds herself in a blizzard she finds is beautiful castle that's where she needs Duncan beneath the rowan tree. She immediately knows it and the castle is an enchanted place, but is it good or evil. Evina has no memory of her family, she goes into battle and get injured or bleeds, and it seems she has led a blessed life. I loved this enchanted tale similar to Beauty and the Beast, poor Duncan must find his true love, the daughter of Morrigan before the last Rowan leaf falls and he dies. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.

Romantically Enchanted boxed set A Twisted Fairytale Collection by Dawn Brower. This boxed set is full of heartfelt romance, a twist of suspense, down to earth and believably flawed characters, and witty, entertaining dialogue. My free opinion. Thanks.
