Tanner “Maverick” Richardson has learned the hard way not to take life too seriously—except for his job as a member of an elite United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance Unit. This calling gives him a purpose and helps to cleanse the stains of a past he’d rather forget . . . at least until a previous mission returns to haunt them, thrusting him right back into the middle of his most painful memories . . . but this time, maybe he can find his way to salvation with the help of one tiny, beautiful, blonde package.

Rebekah Keegan takes pride in being an independent woman. Orphaned as a child, she supports herself and her ailing grandfather, and it’s just them against the world—but even she can admit it would be nice to have someone to help shoulder the burden, especially when she starts to feel someone watching her. Little does she know she’s not as alone as she once thought. She had no idea she had a family, much less a long-lost cousin who is none other than John “Tex” Keegan, one of the most beloved and badass Navy SEALs of all-time.

So who is this handsome stranger who claims her cousin sent him to save her?

Can she trust him? Can she trust her heart?

Ultimately, she may not have a choice. He’s there on a mission to protect her from the newest Kingpin of the deadly Mexican drug cartel that has put the Marines and SEAL team that took down his mentor, and everyone they care about, in his crosshairs. This leader is more brutal, more blood-thirsty, and more hellbent on revenge than his predecessor, and he’s already begun his devious plot of vengeance by contracting the most dangerous hacker around—the only one who can rival Tex, and who has already figured out how to hit the team where their heart is.

***Susan Stoker’s Navy SEALs combine with my United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance team in an explosive new love story as part of the exciting Special Forces: Operation Alpha World!

A Great Novella in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha World!

What a great novella in Susan Stoker’s Special Forces: Operation Alpha World! If you are familiar with Susan Stoker’s SEAL of Protection Team - Wolf, Caroline, Abe, Alabama, Cookie, Fiona, Mozart, Summer, etc. this is the story of how Tanner, aka Maverick, meets Tex’s new-to-him cousin, Rebekah. Tanner and Rebekah could be an amazing team, as long as Tanner can protect her from a drug cartel intent on eliminating her. I love all of the characters, but I love Rebekah’s grandfather the most!

It was an easy read and shorter than I expected, but that’s on me for not realizing it was a novella (100 pages)! It absolutely could have been much longer, in my opinion, because it was so well written with (obviously) great characters and a fast paced plot. I wish it was a bit longer and wrapped up the drug cartel drama better, but then it would have been a novel and not a novella, as all of the books in this Kindle World are! Kudos to Shauna for taking the framework of Susan Stoker’s SEAL characters and writing an excellent companion book that I couldn’t tell wasn’t one of the original series!

Rescuing Rebekah is by Shana Allen. This book is great. It has adventure and romance in the same book. Reading about the SEALS is so much fun. Their exploits stir the imagination.
Rebekah Keegan is an independent woman. She is grateful to have her Grandfather for this long. She knew that he was dying; but preferred to stay by his side and keep him going as long as possible. This meant giving him all her attention. He was the last of her relatives alive and she hoped it was for a long time; but she knew it was merely time.
Tanner “Maverick” Richardson knew his team was in danger. He didn’t know where it came from; but he knew it was something. He pulled all members of his team’s extended family together in safe houses. However, Tex’s family was gone to a retreat and he could not reach them. He immediately set out to go get them. He had just found out that he had a cousin, Rebekah Keegan, who could also be in danger. He sent Maverick to find her and keep her safe. The problem was that she had no idea she had a cousin. Maverick has to move carefully. Can he do that without compromising his feelings?
Who is trying to kill the team and why?

This is the first book I have read from this author, but will definitely be reading more. Ms. Allen does a wonderful job balancing the action, suspense and mystery in this intriguing story. All the characters have a strong presence and are well developed with a flowing storyline containing non-stop action and some romance. She does a great job of blending the characters from the Special Forces world into her story; lots of familiar characters make appearances. I adore Tanner and Rebekah, they make such a great couple. Despite his misgivings about returning home he puts that aside to help his fellow teammates in a crisis. He dives right into the fray of danger, not giving it a second thought. He has a strong commanding presence with a take charge attitude when necessary and a sweet side for romance. And she is a sweetheart. She is genuine, kind and determined with a heart of gold. She fights through her hardships to take care of her dying grandfather the best way she knows how. Rescuing Rebekah is an action packed heartwarming romantic suspense you will definitely enjoy.

Another win in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha novellas. It starts out with plenty of danger. When Tanner is sent back to his hometown, a place he has left a past he rather forget, he puts his head in the game to protect who he needs to. Rebekah is trying her best to support her grandfather. When Tanner shows up he doesn't give away all of his secrets but does his best to protect Rebekah and her grandfather. The danger is soon knocking on the door and he needs to come clean with Rebekah.

This is a book that is fast paced and hot and heavy. Even though it s a novella it packs a punch that is full of danger, suspense, romance and some heartache. It is full of characters that you will fall in love with and want to read more about.

    New family

An old enemy returns, new family is found and brotherly bonds get stronger. Any story with Tex always makes me happy and in this story Tex was in action on the field and in the technology. The addition of an unknown cousin was fantastic and the relationship between Maverick and Rebekah was sweet. I loved her grandfather and thought it was a sweet story overall. I wish there was more detail on why he didn’t like his hometown, the division between Tex’s dad and brother etc, but that just would be extra goodness and detail rather than helping the plot. Another fun story for the Operation Alpha world!

Maverick was going back to Mississippi to protect Rebekah from the Drug Cartel, a place he had no good memories of. The drug cartel is back in business after their last bust and they are out for blood. They are targeting the seals and their families and the marines and ones their related to. We get to see Tex and his family again and Wolf's team. Lost of action and love at the end. Great read.

Sweet with a side of danger

Such a terrific story, sweet Rebekah, unaware of the danger from the cartel, trying to care for her ailing grandfather. Enter Maverick, sent by a Tex, who’s a long lost cousin to her, because of their team, she’s in danger. The minute she and Maverick meet they feel the attraction, love the danger with a HEA.

  • Vickey Mcgee

    Action Packed

This was wonderfully written. It has both some new and old characters that are very lifelike with human emotions. Action galore from someone going through the heroines locker to a shootout in the back stairwell of a casino. The tangos are raising havoc again. It reads quickly. Though its slight, there is sexual content.

Intense story. So much buildup and energy and then…it died off. Don’t get me wrong. They had their happy ending but the race to get to it came to
Such an abrupt halt and I felt that jolt. Still, it was worth it to revisit some of my favorite characters.

    Great story.

This was a well written quick read. I went back and re-read it to follow the storyline thread that flows through this series of books. Highly recommend!

Thought: Aren’t Seal families mostly kept under wraps. Seems pretty bad when the entire Drug Cartel knows about them, even cousins no one knew about.
    Did enjoy Mav’s story.
