But when Nicholas Marks walks through the door of her tattoo studio looking for an appointment, one of Adeline's wards isn't the only thing he's after. Forced into working for the Magistrate, he's been tasked with bringing her in.
With her cover story blown, Adeline has two choices: Run as far and as fast as she can, or stay and fight. Though she’s not ready to give up the only life she’s ever known, putting her trust in a traitor may end up being the worst decision she's ever made.
Fans of The Hollows Series, Charmed and The Craft are sure to devour this series from Rachel Rawlings.

Tattoos and magic? Yes please!
Adeline is the last of her kind. Warders have been outlawed. The magistrate is after her but she’s not going without a fight.
From the start, I was hooked. This story is full of magic and action. Add in a strong female with some attitude and you have yourself a par-tay! I love Adeline. She’s tough and witty. I love how the majority of the action scenes are done with magic and spells. Nice touch Miss Rawlings. Both the story and characters are well developed. This is an engaging and entertaining read! I can’t wait to read more. I give this 5 stars.

The concept itself is phenomenal, and the characters are entertaining, especially Adeline who has a lot of sass and personality...

I received a copy of this book through Booksprout, but this review is my honest, voluntary one!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - what's not to love about it? Tattoos, witches, secret magic, lost orphan made good, blackmail, fighting for your life, self-sacrifice and hidden apartments!
Adeline "Del" Severance is a tattoo artist by day and a secret Warder, a type of witch who can magically tattoo and hide the powers of others, so they remain hidden from the ever watchful eye of the Magistrate. Warders have been all but wiped out of existence by the Magistrate, the council who claim to protect its citizens from evil magic doers! Yeah right!
When Nicholas Marks wanders in to Del's tattoo store with a dodgy business card, Del and her business partner and best friend Lars know something's not right and maybe, just maybe, now is the time to get the hell out of Dodge! Unfortunately, they leave things a bit too late and Nicholas ends up causing them more trouble than they ever hoped for. Now they definitely are on the Magistrate's radar and have some major life changing decisions to make. Do they run or do they fight?!
I really enjoyed Del - she was snarky, sarcastic, loyal and constantly surprising. Lars was great as the supportive big brother role. Nicholas, I'm not sure of yet - he's proven that he can be trusted, yet at the same time has so many secrets that creep out here and there. This book was definitely hard to put down. The gang were constantly running from bad situation to bad situation and while that would have made me give up so easily, they never did. They constantly plowed on, regardless of how tired they were or how rough they were feeling. Del and Lars were a great partnership and I think, possibly, Nicholas might be a good addition too, but time will tell with him.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series now as the cliffhanger has definitely left me wanting more! -
Magic, Murder and Meyhem! Oh My!!
Rachel Rawlings creative mind has entertained me once again! Not new to this literary maven, I am sad I waited so long to read and review Ink It Over! Once I began reading, I didn't or rather couldn't put this first book in the series starter down.
In this book, our main character, Adelaide does her magic in a tattoo shop called SOMETHING TO INK ABOUT. How you ask? Very simply by spellbinding the ink etched in her subjects body. Peotecting them from harm.
In walks danger in the form of a male named Nicholas Marks. With him Adelaide's days of being a well hidden magic weilder is no more. Take it from me, this urban fantasy novel is fun, unique and entertaining.
Fans of Holly Black, Melissa Marr and Darynda Jones will enjoy every second of the read!
5 Stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl Hat!

I received an advanced/review copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content and honesty of my review.
This was a fun, unique, and intriguing read. I genuinely enjoyed the story and the characters and I absolutely loved that she was a tattoo artist. The mix of magic and art was such a cool combination and it made for a very interesting heroine who was not only totally badass but had a heart of gold and was at the same time, quite vulnerable. Honestly, it was just a great book and I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment!

An action filled paranormal themed urban fantasy read
Del, a tattoo artist and witch hiding her powers, risks discovery every time she decides to help another witch with problems. As the story progresses help comes with a catch, danger lurks around every corner, and a heavy price may be paid. Rachel Rawlings’ first book in her A Touch of Ink series is an action filled paranormal themed urban fantasy read with a slight romantic undertone. I really like what Ms. Rawlings has started here and look forward to reading more from her.
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author via Booksprout. I had the opportunity to review or not. -
Del is a tattoo artist by day with a secret job at night as a warder that has the Magistrate of witches after her. Even though she is protecting other powerful witches that are flying under the radar of the magistrate and technically they should be protecting the witches. But instead the Magistrate is killing off all the warders. Del and her protector Lars have to team up with Nicolas who essentially works for the Magistrate in a roundabout way but has asked them to trust him. Well I guess we will have to see about that.

The story starts with a bang and I love the characters and world that the author created. They are very strong, really enjoy the parallel lines with the normal world and she does not skip at giving good descriptions. Exciting action scenes are followed by funny interludes and details. As an avid coffee drinking tattoo fan, I loved the accurate descriptions of the main character. She made me laugh out loud with some of the funny scenes. In short, I highly recommend reading this book and I cannot wait to see how the story continues.

I loved this story it’s about a new age witch who is a tattoo artist by day and a warding Witch by night, Adeline is the last of her kind thanks to the magistrate who killed others just like her. Adeline tattoos protection spells on her clients but now her cover has been blown and the magistrate is after her, her friend Lars tells her to run or stay and fight but the problem is that a man named Nicholas and he is being forced by the magistrate to bring Adeline in. This is a fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
Within our normal world is a magical one, Adeline is a tattoo artists by day and at night is on the magistrate most wanted list because she is a warder. Adeline can tattoo magical protection on a witch, she can basically put her will into a very witch's being. The magistrate is the witching society's government, they were suppose to help witches, protect and guide them but the magistrate has turned into a crime syndicate. They control everything, collect money and most importantly kill warders. When a job goes sideways and Nicholas Marks shows up Adeline's luck may have just run out.
Ink it Over by Rachel Rawlings was a fun, quick read. The magical world was interesting, just the fact that there are magic tattoos is a cool idea. I love tattoos and a paranormal book that has tattooing as an element is pretty cool. The witching world that Rachel has built was interesting and could have so many possibilities especially when a corrupt organization is involved.
Rachel's characters aren't to bad either, Adeline is a fun character. She is stubborn to a fault, a feisty smart-ass who does what she wants and tries even when she knows it's gonna be a bad idea. Adeline is the survivor character she has been through a lot and that means when she lets people in they are everything to her and it also makes her they type of person who is willing to help people.
Lars is Adeline's brother / business partner / protector, he is a big part of who she is and the only family she has left. The banter between these two is great, they go back and forth and Lars usually let Adeline get her way, you can tell how much they love each other and have each others back.
There isn't really any romance in this book, Nicholas is an obvious love interest but nothing is really going on with him. He is an interesting character, with a complicated past and he has a little mystery going on so points for him but this book is basically them getting introduced to each other.
I wish that Rachel had built more on the witching world, delved more into the spells/magic and other types of witches that exists. The magistrate is the big bad but I still don't know too much about them and I want to know more about Lars, he is an interesting person and his past is a totally mystery. However since this is the first book in the Touch of Ink series I am sure that Rachel will address more of these as the series go on.
Ink it Over was a quirky and fun read that is full of magic, action, danger and mystery. I enjoyed the characters and overall story. I am interested to see what Adeline will do next because the danger isn't over with yet. -
Welcome to SOMETHING TO INK ABOUT where Adeline works as a tattoo artist by day but when needed she does some very special tattooing . She is a warder a very special witch and very rare . Seeing as most of the warders have been killed by the Magistrate . things were going good until the day Nicholas walks into the tattoo shop and her life. With her cover story blown out of the water she has two choices run or fight and if she fights can she trust the man that walked into her shop and is a traitor .
This is a new set of characters for this author and I must say Adeline is kick butt . She is sassy and no nonsense . She does kind of have a little bit of an anger issue that does come out through out the book . I love that she is a tattoo artist, cause really there aren't many books with female tattoo artists .They are usually men so Adeline is a nice refreshing read
Lars is oh lets just say he is all alpha male and Adeline's best friend . He takes care of her and is actually like the angel / devil on her shoulders . He keeps her safe and only wants what is best for her . But I think there is more to him that the author hasn't told us . He is sweet but really has an attitude some times .
Now lets talk Nicholas , I seriously don't trust this man at all . He just seems shady to me . He is the nephew to the Magistrate that is after Adeline so really do you know what side he is actually on . He may be tall and good looking but there is something about him that you just can't put your finger on . Is he really good or is he just playing Adeline . You decide .
This is a fun filled story that takes us on an adventure . The author has crafted a cool story that has wonderful characters and a really good story line. There are witches and magic ,intrigue and a little bit of romance. I must say though it did take a bit for the story to get going . I felt like the first few chapters just a little slow . Once you hit chapter 4 it takes off and you are taken on an roller coaster ride . Over all I really liked the story and the characters . There is a cliff hanger at the end and I hope the second book comes out fast cause I really want to know what happens . So if you want a good witch story that has a kick butt tattoo artist this is the book for you . -
Del’s side job is forbidden, in fact she should not even exist because of what she can do. When the magic mafia known as the Magistrate finally figures out what she is and what she’s been up to, they send in their worst man to bring her in. With her BFF Lars and her tattoo gun she races to stay an inch ahead of The Magistrate, but has her time finally run out?
Rachel does a great job of sucking you into the life of Del. She is a snarkastic tattoo artist with a little extra zing. I will admit I had to put this book down a few times, but that was due to being sick and being unable to focus. I don’t blame the author. I ended this book liking Del and Lars (not loving, just mildly interested), and not really caring about Nick.
A couple reasons I started out sucked in and ended up feeling meh. I’ll read the next one if I have nothing else to read. Since this is a published book, it should have been without errors. Regrettably, that was not the case. When Nick’s dad is originally brought up, his name is Nathaniel. When he is brought up at the end of the book, his name is Vincent. A simple mistake, but also an easy fix. Del and Nick figured out this crazy thing that they just had to tell Lars about. It was never mentioned that they told him, but he suddenly knew all about it. I’m going to assume this conversation took place off page and not that it was missed entirely.
I did like this book. I probably will read the next one, eventually. It has the makings of a great series, if Ms. Rawlings could be a little more careful. Errors like the ones made in this book can totally turn me from read it, to leave it, even if I had been totally in love with the book up to that point. I’m giving this one a Meh. A great read for anyone who is just looking for something in the Urban Fantasy with a pinch of romance genre.

3 & 1/2 stars rounded up.
I liked the book enough that I would have continued on to book 2 -if it was available yet. The plot was unique, or at least it was for me. There were a few places that didn't flow well, and a few places that didn't work or needed more info. The main characters (Adeline & Nicholas) were entertaining, if nothing else. I felt they weren't developed quite enough to really be memorable. The secondary character, Lars was way more memorable for me. I would have read book 2 right away, but seeing as it's not out...I'm not sure if I'll remember to watch for it when it does, since I didn't see anything saying when it would come out. -
I think teen girls would get into this book. For me it was a little slow, but still made me want to know what happens. Adeline is a warding witch and does tattoos. She lost the man who found her living on the street, but still has Lars who has been like a brother to her. Nicholas has come into her tattoo shop and she knows hes after her for the Magistrate. Can she run or should she fight? Can she trust Nicholas on what he says? Can Lars and her get away? I recieved a free copy for my honest review.

I like this book because it had a strong heroine in a totalitarian type world with magic. The wardens originally protected magic users but had in the recent past turned into more of an organized crime style shakedown crew.. As a warder the heroine is able to help magic users escape the goons! She is subject to unpleasant prison or more likely execution for just being a warden. This is a fun fantasy not a romance and thoroughly enjoyable,

Grammatically well written, the story idea was good, but the MC was not too likable unless you like hardheaded people who NEVER learn from their mistakes and grow from that. Lars the brother/BFF/business partner was more level headed and likable. Did not learn why “Warders” were so important or hunted, other than they can block abilities you would think that the powers that be would want warders around to control who has powers and what powers. Other reviewers listed this book as fun, I felt it was a chore to read.

Why
Halfway through the book and I still don’t know why The Man is after the MC. I mean, I know she’s a ‘warder’ but I don’t really know why that is so bad. And it’s kind of important to know since it underpins everyone’s motivation. It’s really the only flaw in an otherwise serviceable novel, but it’s a big one. It’s just not clear how what she can do is so terrifyingly different, according to the powers that be.
A few typos, but nothing terrible. -
Interesting World with a good take on magic.
I liked this book, it had interesting characters and great world building. Del and her adopted brother are tattoo artist who use magic to tattoo protection into witches to protect them from the guild, a group who oversee all magic users. But the guild is corrupt and only out to protect themselves. I recommend this book and can't wait to read the next in the series. -

This book was really good. I found myself wanting to read this book
to find out what happens to Del. Having to run from so many people would get me seriously stressed. It seemed like the more you find out as you read, something changes and you’re not sure who Del should trust. Combining magic and tattooing is a pretty cool way to make a story draw the reader into this dangerous world. I cannot wait to read the next book. -
Loved!!
I have absolutely loved this book!! It is awesome!! I’m wondering what the deal is wilt Nicholas and Del. There seems to be some kind of connection between them. And Lars he is such a grump! Ha! He reminds me
Of my brother! I can’t wait to read book two and find out what happens!!! Eeek!!! -
I've read many books with various forms of magic but never one with magic tattoos so that bit caught my attention. This book has plenty of good guy vs bad guy adventure & there are times when you wonder who can be trusted. I wouldn't exactly say it ends on a cliffhanger but it does leave some unanswered questions.

I absolutely loved everything about this book. It is such an original concept and is well executed. The characters are relatable with depth and the worl building is detailed and unique. I had a hard time putting the book down, I was captivated from start to finish. I look forward to more in this series and from this author.

I really enjoyed this book. I had a really hard time putting it down. The descriptions of the characters and the vivid imagery provided about their surroundings really brought the whole book to life for me. I can’t wait for the sequel to see how a lot of things come together to show is the big picture!!

Ink it Over is a pretty awesome read. It has intense characters, a strong female lead with a good heart, hottie bad guys, an overprotective best friend (there may be something more there), and an amazing story to tell. This book had my attention from start to finish. If there were magical ward tattoos, sign me up!!
