He worked to provide a shipwright with all the wood necessary to build the ship. Now the ship is ready and Kaven is going on an adventure. He will be going out and discover what it is like to be Seafaring on Jord.

    Good...

Good, but not the best in the series. I found that there seemed to be a lot of repetitive lines and phrases, and some parts seemed very contradictory to pieces from even just a chapter before. I liked the story, and that we saw some of our favorite characters, but I was expecting something focused on Tom's group and Daytona rather than a completely new set of characters. One of the things I Loved about the book was the introduction of the Mer. I think that the captain is one of my favorite characters, while I am not so sure what Kavan, the main character. He goes from sounding so knowledgeable in one moment to to a babe in the woods in the next. If you knew you were going to be sailing, wouldn't you try to learn at least a bit about it? I will have to think about him some more.

All in all, this book made me want to re-read the entire series. It has some really good parts, and just a bit of boring sailing stuff.
