Flora Kinsley has always been a red-headed rebel who delights to ride madly across the country. After being orphaned at age four, she has always had an insatiable desire to run. But when her wild riding leads her into trouble, she finds herself lost and stranded in a snowstorm. She takes shelter in the home of a bachelor rancher.
Kade Thomas has lost enough loved ones because of foolish choices and risky behavior. The last thing he needs is to be involved with a wild rebel. But being stranded unchaperoned with Flora for two nights gives her preacher father plenty of reason to insist they marry. Knowing that if he forces Flora into marriage against her wishes, it would make for a miserable situation, he begs for a chance to persuade Flora she wants to marry him.
Will this pair find that love is awaiting them? Or will the truth destroy any chance of love?

THE WORLD NEEDS MORE FREE-THINKING MEN
This book made me want to be the free-spirited Flora Kinsley. Linda Ford writes a contemporary historical novel involving preacher’s daughters and their personalities. This book shows a woman with fiery red hair who knows her own mind. Being judged by Kade, someone who has lost a lot in his life because of risk taking, makes her want to be freer.
This book is an ARC from Hidden Gems that I received and am voluntarily giving my honest review. -
To avoid succumbing to a winter storm, Flora Kinsley and Kade Thomas are forced to spend two whole days alone together in Kade's small dwelling. The year is 1884, and Flora's dad is a strict preacher, who she knows will not take kindly to the circumstances. With her honor and reputation at stake, will Flora's rebel heart be forced into a marriage she does not want, or will Kade be able to convince either of the two stubborn Kinsleys into an amicable arrangement?
This is a short, clean romance that hits the nail on the head in regards to a person of Flora's personality--simply that forcing her to do something will only lead to rebellion and hardship. I've always appreciated a well-done story about two characters who are thrust into a relationship or marriage and have to learn how to make it work. That isn't quite how this story plays out, but it was still a good read.
From early in the book, as Flora and Kade spend their two days together, it is clear that they are both completely different in the taking-risks department. Yet, they begin to learn from each other and minds and hearts are eventually changed. I really appreciated the depth we delve into the reasons behind why both of these characters are how they are, which I wouldn't have expected in such a short space. One thing that bothered me, though, is just how stubborn everyone in this book is. No one is willing to bend when it seems like they have no reason to be so firm. The preacher annoyed me in particular, given the way he acted toward Kade even way past the point when he had any reason to treat him that way.
There is one particular character who seemed a bit over-the-top, which I think is because I sensed his inclusion as a simple plot-driver more than I normally would. In the end, though, I was a little amused by him, which is pretty strange, given how he acted in the book. There's a large part of me that would like to hear more about him in the future--perhaps a change in perspective, maybe even a conversion.
There are points in the book that felt way too modern to me, given the time period. Overall, though, I enjoyed the story. It is the beginning of a series, which I do intend to continue at this point. I recommend this book to fans of Christian historical romances, and have high hopes for the rest of the series. -
Another great book of love and faith by Linda Ford.
I read all types of books! Reading is how my mother survived endless full days of taking care of a husband, eight children, cooking, washing clothes in a wringer washing machine, hanging clothes on clothesline, and directing her children to help pick up the slack. Yet, my greatest memory of her, was her standing at the stove cooking while reading a book...as she stirred heavy programs on the stove. By my teens, I realized she escaped her labors by slipping into another place, time, with her mind lost to reality, as she lived a heroine between the beloved covers of hundreds of books. By fourth grade, I had read my first novel of Pollyanna. Over my near seventy years of life, I wish I had written down the the names of the thousands of books I have read. Lately, I had been reading nonfiction books on battles of World War II. My father and my father-in-law had returned home from fighting in Europe and the Pacific critically ill. I was ready for light feel good novel after looking back into the dark time of our great nation. Ms. Ford's can always fulfill that need! -
This starts off fairly fast and right into the story. You might Flora as she is lost in a snowstorm away from home. She eventually finds shelter at Kade's house. You can tell right away that both of these characters do not care for each other. They are cordially especially after realizing Flora is going to have to spend the night, which is a big no-no back in this day and age for unmarried people of different genders. They both agree they can't tell her family what happens because they will be forced to marry. I won't give too much away, but her family finds out and Kane has to spend some time courting her. As with all romantic novels, they do fall in love and love happily ever after.
There is tons of depth to this book being a Christian based book. Tons of character development, but it doesn't make the book seem long or boring. The author hits a good mix of adventure , romance, and growth to make the book very intriguing. While there is not sex in the book, you definitely can tell from the writing that there are some strong feelings between Flora and Kade. -
I love the premise of this series about four adopted sisters. Loving a Rebel is book one and starts off with tension that rarely lets up. Flora is a pistol, keeping her parents on their toes in trying to keep up with her, and on their knees in prayer to keep her safe. She is constantly on the run, but doesn’t understand why. Foggy memories nip at her, sometimes giving her nightmares. She flaunts rules and social mores, yet does feel conflicted about that. She has a great sense of humor, and I laughed out loud on more than a few occasions. I appreciated her dad who was strict, but not mean. Kade is complex, and I enjoyed watching Flora get under his skin. He is sure that is way is THE right way, but eventually begins to consider his conversations with Flora, so he’s not so rigid that he’s not willing to see another side to an issue. He has an astute understanding of people which I admire. I will re-read this story. This is a new-to-me author, and I look forward to reading more of her books. Highly recommended.

Great Book!!!
I enjoyed reading Loving a Rebel: The Preacher’s Daughter(Glory, Montana Book 1)!!! All about Flora Knisley a young women in her twenties and one of four daughters to the preacher & Kade Thomas a young man in his late twenties a cattle rancher. Flora is a rebel who loves to put on trousers and ride like the wind outside of town on her horse Dollar!!! Often times not caring about anybody or anything, hence why she’s lost in a blinding snowstorm. Read about Flora & Kade and the fact it’s the eighteen hundreds women don’t stay with men unchaperoned, it’s forbidden!!! This story was a page turner, and I loved the chemistry between Kade & Flora!!! Lots of different emotions run thru this book, that explore how each feel about the other, over the course of four days stuck inside as a snowstorm ravages the area!! Definite Read!!! -
This is heartwarming, sweet and interesting. Kade is responsible, chivalrous and caring. Flora is stubborn, impulsive, reckless and caring. Kade and Flora end up being snowed in together in his house after she shows up during storm needing shelter. They didn't like each other, but both knew it was necessary, realizing that they could end up being forced to marry, especially considering that Flora's father is the preacher. They get to know each other, and learn that their opinions of the other are far from who they actually are. When Kade begins to think that it wouldn't be terrible to be married to Flora, Flora is not interested at all. They end up having a romantic and sweet relationship.
I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it. -
Beautiful Love Story
Kade Thompson has come to expect disappointment from life. He's suffered many losses which makes him overly cautious. Flora Kinsley is his exact opposite. Running free seems to be her greatest desire. She is determined to live life on her terms. Her preacher father has warned her time and her actions have consequences.
A ride out of town becomes a ride for her life. Throw in a strange man following her and an unexpected snowstorm and you have a recipe for potential disaster. Showing up on Kade's doorstep looking for shelter will give them both a lesson in changing perspective. -
This is a delightful tale of a town whose preacher has four beautiful daughters. This is about Fiona who wants freedom. Kade is a man who has lost loved ones to foolish choices. When Fiona is caught in a snow storm; she is trapped for two days with Kade. The connection they make over those two days is learning about each other. Suddenly, Kade is seeing Fiona with new eyes, and the freedom that Kade gives her helps her find out why she is always running. I look forward to more stories about Glory, Montana.

I really enjoyed reading this book about Kade and Flora. They seemed to be opposites at the beginning, but as they listened to each other and began to really understand each other it became apparent how similar they were. The author did a great job with the characters, making them believable and likable! Also, the details given made me feel like I was there, seeing, hearing and even smelling the Montana countryside. I didn't want the story to end.

The Preacher's Daughters Series
I have read these books out of order. I love their stories just the same. Each story can stand alone. This story is about their redheaded daughter who appears to be rebellious. She accidentally finds the man that is a match for her. I won't tell you more because I will give the plot away. Read and enjoy I did!!!!! -
A Preacher's Daughter
Great love story with lessons to be learned. Strong willed red head with dreams she never understands, tragic life to a love understanding for parent's sisters, learning to laugh and teaching a man to bake chocolate cake. Cute interesting fast read. Nice clean love story. -
