A spinster raised to run a ranch. An injured man with a broken heart. A wedding neither of them want, but both need more than they will ever admit.

October 1867, North Texas

Brienne Walsh has resigned to life as a spinster and the lone heir to the Walsh Ranch upon her grandfather's death. She's always been too tall, too strong, and too unprepossessing to be appealing to any man. Yet when the bank calls on her grandfather's loan, telling her to either pay the full amount due by the end of the month, or marry, she is thrown into an arrangement she can't abide but must endure.

Love has been unkind to Henry Miller. His first love promised to wait for him to return from fighting for the Union in the War, but when he returned, he found her married to his best friend. The betrayal cut him deeper than the bullet from a Confederate Springfield. He lost his fiancé and his best friend in one fell swoop two years ago, and now he finds himself losing his father and his home in another. With nowhere else to turn, he chooses to follow his father's wishes and sign a document he never thought he'd consider again--a marriage certificate.

This is a short, clean and wholesome, American western historical romance. The 8th in The Proxy Bride Series. Each book is a stand-alone HEA romance and can be read in no particular order.

A Bride for Henry (The Proxy Brides #8) Reviews

  • Deanne Patterson

I have read two books by this author and enjoyed them both a lot!
Brienne Walsh believes she is destined to be a spinster after the death of her grandfather, she is also the lone heir to the Walsh Ranch. The story line is great and the words just flow easily. We see Brienne with a low self confidence, she believes she is too tall, awkward and wow, she wears pants. But it makes it easier to care for the animals on the ranch and who can fix fences with a bunch of skirts and petticoats weighing them down? When the banker comes to call after grandfather's death expecting the full balance on the ranch in a short amount of time she knows she is in trouble. If only there was a solution, but wait, there is! A marriage of convenience for both Brienne and her husband by proxy, Henry. Both don't want a marriage but enter into it for their own needs. Henry is a wounded soul, having lost his first love to his best friend while he was away at war. Can his heart thaw to the possibility of giving love a second chance? Will differences be able to be put aside when they meet face to face and this become a real marriage? Very enjoyable short, clean and wholesome, American western historical romance.
I look forward to reading more by this author!

I started 2019 with this sweet little novella.
    I really liked this book.
The author has written this one with her whole heart and in doing so, it comes through her characters.
Even though this is a short story it you will still want to turn the pages to see what would happen.
An arranged marriage can be good. It means that God has a plan in the works.
I have felt these characters' pain because I have felt some of their pain myself at times.
I've experienced in not being good enough or just wanting to fit in just like Brienne and Henry. With God's help I've learned to overcome much of that and I feel proud of myself for the accomplishment.
I feel like Edward had his chance years ago. He screwed up. I didn't like him anyway. Henry thank you.
You're such a good man. I could tell when I first opened this book. I sure would've loved to meet you in real life!!
Brienne I love your determination to get things done. Its too bad that women in them days couldn't have a say so like we do now.
I'm glad you hung in there and stood your ground! Way to girl!!
I received a copy of this book. No compensations were received. All opinions are my own

Are they brave enough to love again?

After suffering heartbreak and rejection both Henry and Brienne are wary and shy away from relationships and looking for love, so when a proxy marriage is the only option to save them they agree.
They are both sweet characters, but are shy and lack self confidence which leaves them circling each other, unsure of where they stand and how they feel for each other. Your heart squeeze's for them as they flounder and stumble their way through falling in love.
A sweet read on Kindle Unlimited.
