Adam

Leaving behind the life I built in Europe was hard...and leaving the always-rocky relationship with my ex was even harder. Falling for a much younger woman is like getting a second wind...and it’s all the more sweet for being so unexpected.

Welcome to the final (?) installment of the Maple Mills series, where a group of small-town younger women friends all just happen to find their happily-ever-after love with older men! Maybe it's something in the water? :P

Her Dad's Best Friend (Maple Mills Book 6) Reviews

Sweet and sexy older man/younger woman romance.

I've read most of this series and they've all been great, but I think this might be my favourite.

Adam and his nephew Milo are returning back to Adam's home town Maple Mills, looking for a fresh start and some stability for his troubled nephew. The house they are having built has hit some construction delays and has them accepting an offer of accomodations from Adam's long time best friend Kevin and his wife Colleen. Their home is plenty big enough as it's just the two of them and their college aged daughter Anna.

Colleen is hoping that Anna and Milo will hit it off and start something romantic, while Adam is hoping that Anna can be a positive influence on the very difficult and unhappy Milo. Instant sparks are felt between Anna and one of the houseguests, but it's not between her and the college aged Milo, but instead between Anna and Adam, a man old enough to be her father.

Anna and Adam hit it off immediately. Fireworks explode between them and their chemistry has them unconsciously touching and teasing each other, no matter the audience. They try to convince themselves that a romance isn't possible, mainly due to the big age difference, but in the end the heart wants what it wants and despite some strong objections, the attraction and love between them can't be ignored.

This is definitely an insta-attraction love story, but they develop a strong friendship and their romance is a slow burn through most of this sexy novella. Their relationship has a fun feel to it and it develops naturally. Their sexual chemistry is hot, hot, hot and worth the wait!

There's a very happy ending, a reunion of the characters from some other Maple Mills couples and a sweet, sweet epilogue. Loved this quick romance!

    Short story leaves boxes unchecked
Her Dad’s Best Friend by author Kate Gilead is a short story especially if you haven’t read the previous books in the series. The last thirteen percent of the book brings the readers up to speed on previous characters in the series.
This storyline is the older man younger woman genre. Unfortunately it never checked off all the boxes for me as there were a few things that I found irksome. First was Adam’s language skills. For a mature man who lived extensively in the UK, worked in the world of finance, he spoke like he was uneducated and blue collar. Second, never understood the purpose of Milo. This character did nothing to move the story along and would have been a better read without it. Having a creepy character just for being creepy is, well, creepy. Finally, I don’t understand the whole pregnancy drama surrounding Brenda and why that took as many pages as it did. It felt like, by this time, the author was just stretching out the ending.
So, if you are a faithful reader of this series, you may enjoy this story more.
I am leaving this review for your consideration.

    ONE DELIGHTFUL READ!!!
Oh my, talk about a crash course. This is one exciting, intriguing, heart pounding, pulse racing, smooth flowing, page turning wonder that grabs your attention and holds it from start to finish. All the drama, heartache, fear, uncertainty and family drama increases steadily while tension spirals. Twists and turns, ups and downs, unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises make for one incredible experience. The two main characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality that really lights up as sparks fly. The scenes are so graphically descriptive it's easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this little jewel together beautifully. Kate did an amazing job bringing this read to life. Awesome job Kate, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

Terrific story with an expansive epilogue for the series!

Adam is surprised by his attraction to the all-grown-up daughter of his friend, and tries to resist their chemistry for a while. But when Anna makes it known that she returns his interest, things get very steamy, very quickly. I liked how Adam's nephew played into the story - it was clear that Anna wasn't interested in young men her own age, and it was understandable that she'd gravitate toward a man who had his life on the right track.

The epilogue brought us up to date with all the couples and their families from the previous books in this series, so that in and of itself is well worth reading this book for. The writing is as sharp as always, with memorable characters and heartwarming relationships. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Anna's mom tries to play matchmaker with her dad's friend's nephew and her. However he isn't the one she's interested in. Adam is still as hot as he looked in the pictures she's seen. Adam can't believe this gorgeous creature is his friend's daughter. They both try fighting their attraction but its not long before Anna is trying to tempt him into being with her. Yet some problems with his nephew gets them exposed before they were ready to come clean about being together. Can they convince her parents that they're both happy together? What will he do to his nephew for what he did?

This is a great story that'll have you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Kate Gilead is a new author to me and this is a fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely, this is an older man younger woman romance and a dad’s best friend romance all rolled in to one and this is the story of Anna and Adam. Adam comes back from overseas he puts his nephew in the same school as Anna and her mother tries to set them up but Anna only has eyes for Adam. Adam tries to resist Anna but when he finds out that she feels the same way about him he can’t hold back anymore. I loved these two characters their chemistry is sizzling hot and they were made for each other. I hadn’t read any of the other books to this series and that didn’t matter because this can be read as a standalone, fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Adam returns home to Columbus, Ohio from 15 years in Britain to stay with his best friends while waiting for his house to be renovated. Anna, the 22 year old daughter of the house is immediately attracted to the older man, who has his 22 year old nephew with him. Anna's mother tries pairing the two college age kids, but nothing comes of it. But Anna and Adam enjoy much time together. From the beginning of the fall semester until Thanksgiving when the story really blossoms and they get caught. Fireworks! A good story by Gilead of the Maple Mills variety!

Anna’s father accepted this from jump. Except he didn’t act like a normal parent. He noticed them how they acted towards each other and he didn’t say anything.
I’m upset that Milo doesn’t face the music for assaulting Anna. He gets to go to Saudi Arabia. That’s not punishment. Every Thursday Saudi Arabians drive across the bridge to Bahrain aka Las Vegas of the Gulf. Prostitutes and alcohol are accessible at your fingertips.

Well, damn! So good! I am now in love with Adam! I want an Adam too. Damn. So hot, sweet, sexy AF.. what's not to like? I also liked Anna. And the story was good! Really cute. And so filled with sexual tension! I thought I was going to explode! Wow!
So, now I guess I'll have to go and read the previous books in the series, seeing that I started backwards. Lol

  • Pat

This book was a very enjoyable read with great character and storyline development! Not to mention that Anna and Adam were very likable, believable and engaging which kept me totally enthralled until the turn of the very last page!

  • Tammy

This is a fast-paced read and the sixth book in the series. This was an entertaining read, although the book didn’t flow really well, I found the story to be entertaining and the characters interesting. I do recap the whole series well so it can be read as a stand-alone. I liked it.

  • Mel

    4.5 stars

So, I want to give this 5 stars but the ending was a bit too long and it was about all the characters of the maple mills stories. If you say a book is a stand alone then I shouldn't have to care about the tertiary characters that came before in the series

  • Jennifer

Great short but sexy and sweet taboo romance! She is 22 but she can't resist her father's best friend, and try as he may he can't keep away from her! It's a whirlwind tale of lust and love.

  • Ren

I voluntarily review an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This book was great story.

I read the whole story but I'm not impressed. It was short, sweet, It felt like a tween fantasy being played out
