Caught at last by four of their warriors, I face an uncertain future. I know I must resist, escape, and then lead my little band of rebels to safety. But my captors have other plans for me…

    Gripe #1:

You mean to tell me that 4 dudes work together, live together, refer to each other as "mates", can talk to each other telepathically and they never cross the streams???

    Two words:

    Gripe #2:

This Kira chic folded like a card table at the first sign of a giant purple monster cock. Erm, excuse me, FOUR giant purple monster cocks. Which, fine, yeah I see your not wanting to die via giant purple monster cock and all but hells bells she went from supposed bad ass to milquetoast in Ricky Bobby time.

    Semi-gripe #3:

Coulda used more pain is all I'm sayin'. There was a decent amount of kinkery happening but... I gotta represent! #TeamPain makes everything better. Rule of thumb: less lame sex and more pain before the lame sex makes Cupcake a happy girl.

    Quasi compliment #1:

    I finished it!

    Quasi compliment #2:

I kind of enjoyed making fun of the whole storyline. Amateurish writing is amateurish with a little bit of outlandish and a whole lotta cloying but it was almost so bad it was good?

Sorta. Kinda. If you squint and maybe skim over the talking parts? Kinda like scripted porn. It's bad but it still serves a purpose, y'know?

Earth has been invaded and conquered by the Vakarrans, warrior class aliens, who have made it known they are now Earth's masters and resistance is futile.

As is wont to happen, there are pockets of resistance who have been able to survive and thrive off the Vakarran's radar.

A prominent resistance leader, Kira Stryke, has gained notoriety with her blatant refusal to surrender which is why the Vakarrans have made it a priority to make an example of her.

Commanders Zaavyr, Jax, Coltan, & Aedan are assigned to bring in Kira and make an example of her to deter other rebels who refuse to submit to Vakarran rule. Capturing the elusive Kira may be the easy part when she finds out that she is now their property to with what they want.

New series that features an alien dominant race who need females to procreate. A reverse harem type read that has variable pro/con sides for me. Does include angst issues that may appeal to readers.

The overall story had numerous issues for me in the character development, specific character personalities (based on character descriptions & behaviors I found it hard to get on board with the main characters came across) and overall story line/plot. I fluctuated between a two and three star rating so if there had been a 2.5 I would have used it. As there isn't such an option I'm going to weigh on the optimistic side of things with a 3.

Neutral on recommending this SciFi alien erotic romance so it's up to any potential readers to decide if this is a book they'd like to check out.

I did like this book, I'd probably rate it 4 on Amazon since they consider 3 stars to be negative.

A female human rebel and the 4 aliens determined to master her.

Conquered is an alien slave/capture reverse harem story. I've read a few short stories by Sara Field and very recently read Mated to the Dragons. The blurb for this drew me in and I was certainly inttrigued to read Kira's story.

I was really looking forward to reading this. The blurb ticked lots of positive boxes for me and I knew this was an author whose previous work I had enjoyed. Sadly this didn't quite hit the mark for me, it started really well but just didn't hold my attention in the way I thought it would. The writing is of a high quality, the prose flows well and the story was easy to follow. There was no issue for me with the quality of writing, it just lacked sufficient depth in the plot.

When the Vakarran's invaded earth, enslaving humans and using fertile women as little more than brood mares, Kira and her sisters escaped. They have survived, along with a group of other 'outlaw' humans, and evaded capture for almost 10 years. Many Vakarran have underestimated Kira, and some have not lived to regret that. Jax, Coltan, Aedan and Zaavyr are not so foolish and soon Kira finds herself captive on their ship and slave to their desires. Will she escape, will she keep her sisters hidden and safe, will humans ever be free?

The story made a really strong start, with a super tough Kira finding refuge for a small band of humans. I would have liked some backstory to Kira to explain why a (then) 17/18 year old had the skills to survive in the wilderness and eventually cobble together tech and traps to protect her sisters and other followers. That aside I still really liked Kira, with her strong sense of survival and her determination to protect others at all costs.

The book was written first person, with each chapter from any one of the FIVE main characters point of views. For me this proved too many, I often didn't know which male's perspective I was reading. It might have worked better written third person, so that view points could 'switch' when necessary. I was able to build a really good picture of Kira, who I totally loved as a heroine. At 70%, though, I was still struggling to connect to some of the male characters .... particularly when they were still 'playing roles' in their attempt to train Kira.

After a few very good chapters it felt like the story became just a surfeit of sex scenes. Kira's character seemed to lose her way for a while, melting into a gooey puddle of lust at the merest hint of her males' appendages. Sigh. I wasn't convinced that the characters were bonding, and falling in love with each other, either. We did eventually see the real Kira return and the final few chapters of the book were excellent.

I ended up skimming the majority of the sex scenes, there was just too much for me personally. I love some hot bedroom scenes, I love spanking, domination and dubious/non-consent in the story, and this has all of that. It's definitely a hot and steamy read and fits the 'slave world' genre, so if you like that style of book you will more than likely enjoy this too.

I do believe i've started a new obsession with science fiction romance - especially when it comes with new races and new worlds that authors can concoct out of their minds. In the past month, i've had the chance to read maybe a dozen of these genre novels/books/stories, and each one has captivated me to such an extent that it reminded me why i really love these types of books.

This was the first time that i read a book by Sara Fields, and Conquered was probably the best introduction i could have ever gotten by this author. It's no secret that i enjoy all sorts of genre novels - heck, if you read my previous reviews or even look at my read books section, you can easily figure that out for yourself. Lately, i've enjoyed dark romances, BDSM themed and the science fiction. In a way, Conquered had all of these genre all rolled into one. It was dark in the sense that humans are slaves as soon as they are taken by the Vakarrans and their destiny can either be the best or the worst experience they've ever had; it had the basics of BDSM when it comes to the men that Kira comes to fall in love with and they need to train her to be the best human slave they need, and it's science fiction, because let's face it - they're purple, they're huge, they can control their size of their... 'unmentionables', and they come conquering Earth to be able to find breeders.

I got into this book like nobody's business. I enjoyed the tug of war. The indecisions of all the parties involved and i couldn't get enough of how this author brought her characters to life. There's no hiding the fact that this story doesn't really have 'real' elements, things that you would find in your day to day life, but it was still the type of story that was engaging and made me want to read more from this author in the future.

The Tattooed Maniac's Virgin (Sinful Delights Book 1) by Suzi de Beer

  • Charlie

This was a super fun, kinky, alien romance, exactly what I was in the mood for.

    3.5 stars.

  • Jennifer G

The Valkarrans came, conquered, and enslaved. For years, Kira led a hidden band of Earth's survivors keeping them safe in the forest but then her luck ran out. Captured by a group of four Valkarran warriors she now belongs to them. She is theirs to train, to service, to breed.

I went into this hopeful. I love RH, I love Sci-fi, I love dark, controlling men. This was not the sexy story I hoped for. I was disappointed, saddened, and at times disgusted. Kira was so smart and shrewd, so strong and capable, so resilient as the leader of a group of rebels. As soon as she is captured, she becomes a submissive, weak-minded sex slave. BDSM is one thing, this was abuse. BDSM is not code for uninvited physical violence, there are boundaries; it's an exchange of power and control. It requires trust, communication, and aftercare. Kira had no power. Kira had no voice. Kira had no clothes, only jewelry in the form of nipple clamps and collars. This was humiliation, degradation, and destroying. Raped as a virgin, forced posturing for hours, given a cage to sleep in, and she felt arousal and gratitude. I kept reading for the moment of change; the moment when the Valkarrans saw the worth of humans and women. Spoiler, it doesn't come. Kira went from a badass to a victim with Stockholm Syndrome.

I was looking forward to this book, and it started off pretty awesome...but quickly went down hill. For someone who had so much hate for the aliens (and for great reasons because I mean lets face it there's nothing to like about someone who conquers your land, steals, rapes and breeds your women, slaughtered billions and well just don't have many redeemable qualities other than the off handed small kind gesture here and there, like not making her first time horribly brutal. Once they got on the ship and I just couldn't handle it anymore and skipped to the end to see if the ending was worth the journey and gods I groaned out loud. If you are just looking for a steamy RH to get hot and bothered to then yeah sure give it a shot, but if you like stuff to lead up to it so it's a little less rapey then don't bother.

  • Joyffree

I am a bit torn with how I feel about this one
I really enjoyed the characters - I do wish however that the author had given us more with regards to their backgrounds, personality traits- just more depth would have made it easier to connect with them
The plot idea was great - though there were some patches that needed a bit more seeding to fully engage me as a reader
I did, however, enjoy that the heroine was strong and formidable but feminine and that the heroes had marshmallow fillings to go with all that chest thumping(They were alphas with heart)
I wish this had been longer and we were given more with regards to the world building and individual characters
Overall it was an okay read but it definitely could have been out of this world ..

  • Michelle Fritz PA

To start off, this cover is so misleading. These dudes are purple, not human colored. This is an okay read. I kept rolling my eyes waiting for the female lead to live up to her reputation, but it never happened. If you like male dominance with a weak female who just too easily gives in, you might enjoy this. There's no real story, though the author does try to give one. This just didn't work for me and the potential was there. This ended too soon and could've been good if the female had more depth and actually got away, and they'd had to hunt her down.

  • Dena

    Fighter

This was not my typical story. I liked the characters they were hot. I didn't like the background story it could have been more. The girl was such a fighter in the beginning but she didn't really fight when captured. I didn't understand how she could survive out in the wilds.as.a fighter but then become docile when captured. That was my biggest issue with the story.

  • Amy~My Book Obsession~

Narration was fine. It’s the story and all the plot holes in it. I just can’t. If you want a story and not just sex don’t listen to this book. However, I will recommend the narrator it’s not her fault this story wasn’t up to par.

I was given a copy of this book for any honest review. This plays no part in how I felt about this book.

  • Mahalia Gosla

    Spanking involved

This is a reverse harem, but the girl is supposed to be a leader, but after being shamed then treated gently she understands that her captors have feelings for her. I forgot what they look like halfway through the story.

  • Cyanure

    1,5⭐️

The background wasn’t developed enough to make the story interesting. The characters psychology was zilch.
No thoughts about being a rebel in captivity, no reason other then sex to stay with the oppressors.

  • Heather

    Interesting pretense

Turned out to just be humiliation porn.

    Yeahhh no thanks

Not bad enough for one star. Would not recommend

**Conquered is a reverse-harem, sci-fi alien romance involving darker themes such as BDSM that is not for the faint heart. It can be read as a standalone. **

Conquered is my first read by author Sara Field that depicts the tale of a rebel woman's capture by an inferior alien species, Vakarran that led to her damnation. Though, that was what she initially believed. Yet being conquered by four alpha alien male seemed to prove otherwise as they evoked emotions long buried within Kira...and instead became her ultimate salvation.

I jumped at the chance to review this book because I have always been intrigued by alien romance, a subgenre that I haven't really explored, and the blurb was too good to pass up on despite me not being a huge fan of the whole reverse harem thing. However, it quickly became a negligible fact as I was sucked in right from the very start. Kira reminded me of Katniss Everdeen with her feisty rebellious side with a strong will to protect her family and also a human with bada** tricks up her sleeves.

However, right at the moment when Kira was captured, the story sort of went downhill and is predominantly filled with s*x scenes. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty hot and heavy, but I always preferred a balance in my books. The Vakkaran men who captured Kira - Zaavyr, Jax, Aedan and Coltan did pique my interest, unfortunately, most of the time they seemed interchangeable and lacks of an obvious distinctive quality.

The writing lacks depth and was left with lots of undeveloped plotlines. Perhaps it would work better as multiple books instead of a standalone as I am really invested in the whole mystery of the Vakarran species, from their strength & weaknesses to their inner politics and perhaps also a little background story on how Kira managed to survive the invasion. A series of books would perhaps give the readers a clearer view of the setting.

Nevertheless, it was a good read filled with the promise of something greater. I would definitely dive into book two and see how the story continues.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book generously provided by Social Butterfly PR and the author. Thank you for the reviewing opportunity!

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.
This is soooo not your typical alien romance. It is a super steamy reverse harem with a hint of BDSM. There are potential triggers for some listeners since it is a darker romance. I would have liked for it to not be so super easy for Kyra to be captured. I loved the differences Zaavyr, Jax, Colton, and Aedan's personalities; each one seems to bring something different to the table. It is interesting to see as the men become attached the Kyra and Kyra to the men. If you want something a little bit different, this is a great option!

Another great performance by Heather Firth! I love the diversity in romance sub genres she has narrated and am impressed with her ability to provide an excellent performance, especially in a story like this one. A different narrator could have easily made this sound like a typical cheesy sci-fi romance; but Heather brings out all the sensual elements of the story and makes this a worthy listen!

I received a review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

This isn't my first reverse harem but it just didn't do it for me. The writing is good and so is the editing which is a good thing. The story started off good and I was really getting into it but have to admit I got kind of lost while and couldn't really tell who was who sometimes and found myself scheming especially through the hot and sweaty scenes. There is some bdsm included as they work to break her and make her the perfect sub.

I know I am special sometimes so this could just be me. The characters were ok but I had a hard time connecting with the aliens. I haven't read this author before and therefore was interested in trying a new author. I just might have to read more to see if she is the author for me or if my issues with the book were just me. I do see others truly loved the book so it's probably safe to assume it is all me.

  • LaShanta Charles

I absolutely loved the strength of Kira's character. She was determined to keep her people safe and did what most humans failed to do after the Vakarrans took over. I also liked the fact that she was basically public enemy #1 for them.

The book was well-written and seemed to flow well, but I found that I couldn't get into it. After the first few chapters, specifically after the trap was set, it went a totally different direction. I had no issues with the dub-con, spanking, and the darker aspect of it, but it just didn't draw me in. The relationship between the characters wasn't one I found myself connecting to.

I was happy with how it ended, to a certain extent. The Kira from the beginning of the book made a huge come back, so I liked that. I also like that the ending kind of left an opening for stories to progress with Kira's sisters.

**I received an ARC and reviewed voluntarily.**

A new race of aliens exist in this series by Sara Fields. She does an amazing job of creating a new race and their world with descriptive details and dialogue. It was an interesting read although difficult to read as some scenes are pretty graphic. I did like their ability which then was picked up by her. I had a hard time with the idea of the book with females only as breeders. However, the author did a great job of creating individual aspects of each of her aliens who knew just what she needed in order to submit without totally breaking one of the things they truly admired about her....her spirit.

  • Rhonda

This was such a good book and I was completely pulled into the story of Kira as she struggles to accept the 4 aliens who have claimed her. She's feisty, stubborn and doesn't want to give in but her 4 mates set about showing her how it could be staying with them. It's dark in some places but not too dark and I really enjoyed how strong of a character she was. I can't wait to read the next book in this series

  • Michelle Claypot_Reads

    3.5 stars for me
Kira the rebel has been evading the Vakaaran aliens for years. Her capture and subsequent retraining/discipline was right on the edge of d/s stories I enjoy. Public humiliation and non-con, domestic discipline features heavily in this reverse Harem story. If you enjoy these types of stories, it's well written, good world building and the story is left open for more tales from earth.

I received an arc of this book.

The book starts out really good. Kira is a strong, feisty character, who did what was needed to protect her family. She has been keeping herself and her sisters safe for years. I enjoyed the introduction of the alien. each had his own individual characters. There was some political differences between the Aliens.

And then Kira was caught. There were a lot of steamy scenes in the rest of the book. And I enjoyed the interactions.

I had hoped for a bit more character and plot development.

I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advance review copy

    Audiobook Version:

I love steamy, I love Reverse Harem, I love BDSM/dominance and I love PNR. Couldn't go wrong with this. This was a bit more Sci-Fi than I normally read but I thought it was great! It was heavy on the steam which I will never complain about. It was also heavy on the dominance, training, and punishment of BDSM. I honestly can't wait to read more of this series. Is there a ton of action- no. Is that ok with me- yes! The action it had was perfect for this sexy story.

Narration was great! I loved Heathers deeper voice for this role. She has a fantastic male voice as well! Every now and then I heard the Canadian come through but it was great!! Loved it!!

    Onto Mastered I go!!

Vakarran Captives, Book #1. The Vakarrans have arrived! Fasten your seatbelts! You've never seen action like this before!

Ten years ago, the Vakarrans came to Earth. Since then, nothing's been the same. Earth held 30 billion people then. The privileged were long gone to the luxury of the outer moons and planets of the solar system. Now the Vakarrans rule all. Or do they? In the outermost fringes of once huge metropolises, bands of humans still roam free. The infamous Kira Stryke's the leader of one such group. Pure hatred for the Vakarrans flows through her veins. She and her sisters, along with their rag-tag band of rebels, have survived for ten long years. But nothing comes without price, and that price is on Kira's head. The Vakarrans have sent team after team to take Kira. Each has been destroyed. But Kira's never gone up against the First Brigade. Zaavyr, Jax, Coltan, and Aedan, battle-hardened warriors with decades of experience, have scrutinized and dissected Kira's every action. When they use Kira's own strategies against her, capture is inevitable. The Vakarrans have only one use for any female, and Kira's not about to be turned into some broken, submissive vessel for breeding! But is she truly prepared for what comes next? Physical torture, humiliation, sexual degradation? She won't be broken by that! But being dragged off Earth to the Vakarran battleship? Escape was her only option but now? Soon Kira realizes she has far bigger worries. Not only is she at the mercy of her four Vakarran captors, but the Vakarran battleship holds far greater horrors than she could have imagined. As Zaavyr, Jax, Coltan, and Aedan formulate their plan to break Kira, hidden machinations and plots swirl around on every level, threatening everyone and everything. As Kira becomes the target, she has no choices left. It's no longer just her body, her life, her very being, at stake. Now everything she holds dear will vanish in the blink of an eye. There may be a spark, the vaguest glimmer, of hope. But at what cost? Can Kira do what she must to save her most beloved? Can there be a trust she never knew existed? Does she have the strength to submit? Or will the Vakarrans take all, leaving nothing in their wake?

Sara Fields has absolutely outdone herself with this first book in the Vakarran Captives series! In my opinion, Kira is the strongest female character Ms. Fields has created yet, and that's truly saying something. Kira's more than just intelligent, strong, and independent. She's self-sufficient, willful, wily, patient, conniving, and a strategist extraordinaire. She's as far from a submissive as a woman can be. To the Vakarrans, she's a legend, the evil incarnate that has to be defeated at any cost. When Kira's confronted with Zaavyr, Jax, Coltan, and Aedan, she fights in every way she can. The cost to her isn't just physical pain. The debasement, humiliation, and psychological terror are nearly overwhelming. Yet her perceptions are just that...her perceptions. We all view things through the lenses of our experiences, and Kira's no different. Zaavyr, Jax, Coltan, and Aedan are absolutely no knights in shining armor come to rescue the lady fair. But are they truly what Kira believes? Conversely, is Kira anything other than what the Vakarrans believe her to be? This book isn't just a study in contrasts and contradictions. Is it sexy, steamy? Absolutely! Is this a war between perceived good and evil? Without a doubt! But it's so very much more. These characters contain layers of complexity. Nothing is simple or easy. I never knew from one moment to the next who was going to do what, and that's what makes this book absolute perfection. Sara Fields is quite simply brilliant! Thank you, Ms. Fields, for a stunning beginning to a new series. I can't wait for more!

A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language, intense punishment, and dominant/submissive sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to a book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
