Great start to a series. A shortish Read that’s used for a fantastic opening leading straight into the next book.

This young woman is in an abusive relationship, to survive she needs to escape.

She ends up in a beautiful place that is highly toured within these pages so that the reader can see all the beauty and get an idea of the local people who live there.

She unexpectedly meets a lovely good looking chap. Her head is turned.
But should she settle in this town or keep moving?

The next day her car doesn’t start......decision made.

It’s a sweet story, well rounded and I can see different characters popping in the equation that I’m thinking will have more of a part as the series progresses.

Bit of violence at the end which is definitely wanting you to read book 2

    3.5 stars.

Just very pleasant. It is a complete comfort read. There is a little suspense, but there is never any worry that it's not going to work out.

The talk about the sister who has died is surprisingly thoughtful, emotional, and sweet. I really appreciate the main guy. He is so family-oriented and hard-working and GOOD.

The girl is cool too. Her story reminds me that of Safe Haven, but not as high-drama and crazy as that one. I love the support she receives from her grandpa and his possible mafia friends (which is random - but kinda awesome idk).

Anyway, the romance is sweet and clean. I really like the main guy, and the big emphasis on family.

Tiffany is escaping a terrible ex and what better way to forget her troubles than to end up stranded in a beautiful, touristy, seaside town. Kittle Falls sounds like a fantastic place to live, work, and find love. I enjoyed the descriptions of the things the locals liked to do--things the tourists didn't know about. I also loved the local characters and the way they all looked out for one another and seemed like one big family. I wouldn't mind taking a vacation there myself!

Tiffany is a beautiful woman, but lacks self confidence, due to her bad marriage. I was rooting for her to feel good about herself again and loved the way this town and the people who live there help her. She wasn't planning on staying long, but things happen for a reason. Tiffany has a great relationship with her grandpa and it was very endearing to read bits and pieces about that.

Jake has had a rough time of things lately. He's had a tragedy in his family and no one seems to be able to cope with it. I didn't like the way his parents treated him, but could understand why they did what they did. He's a great guy to put up with things, even if he does grumble about it. And when all is said and done, family matters and Jake really shows where his priorities are.

As I mentioned before, I really loved the setting and the characters. This is a perfect summer beach read, especially for readers who don't want all fluff. There is some suspense mingled in with a climatic ending and a tough topic is brought up and handled in a great way. This sounds like a fun series, with a book about each of Jake's brothers.

Content: one mild cuss word; mild violence (talk of abuse and a situation of violence); mild romance (kissing only, but they started falling for one another before the divorce was final). Clean!

I enjoyed this clean romance. The main characters both had things they were struggling with. Tiffany is running away from an abusive relationship. Jake is stuck in a small town where he worn thin from being stuck running a family business. When these two meet they are able to help each other find what they've been missing.
There were a few times the story lagged a little but overall this is a cute clean romance with likable characters I can recommend.

This is a fun, quick read! With her grandfather's help, Tiffany is running away from an abusive husband. She makes a stop in Kittle Falls and meets Jake when she shops at his family's convenience store. Jake was close to his sister who recently died and he is working double shifts while his parents grieve. He feels drawn to Tiffany, who introduces herself to him as Elena, but she is determined to leave town as quickly as possible. She finds herself stranded there and decides to give Jake a chance.

Both Jake and Tiffany/Elena were likable and it was easy to see them as a couple. Jake wasn't looking for a relationship. Tiffany was broken and didn't feel like she deserved a guy like Jake. There were external factors at work to keep them apart as well. It wasn't difficult to imagine the obstacles they had to overcome in order to give their relationship a chance. It was fun to see how their relationship evolved and they had great interactions with each other.

There were some great side characters in this book. Tiffany's husband was easy to dislike since he was such a jerk and it was a good thing she had a grandfather who was willing to help her. Jake had four brothers who all came to town and they are all so different. They are also all single so it looks like there will be more about the Hunter brothers in the future!

Since this book deals with abuse, there is some mild violence. The romance is clean; however, the main characters become involved with each other before her divorce is finalized.

I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.

I love discovering new authors in the clean romance genre. Stacy Claflin is new to me and I haven't read her other books so I don't know if they are clean or not, but this one is and I know she has plans to write more books in this series about the Hunter brothers. I'm looking forward to them!

I love books with an ocean setting. For some reason I am so drawn to them. I love the ocean.

This book has a very predictable story line, I could have called the whole thing from the beginning but it was still very enjoyable. Tiffany is on the run from an abusive husband. She is trying to keep a low profile and stay hidden and safe. She thinks she is just passing through this ocean town but then she steps in to Jake's store and everything shifts.

Jake is attracted to Tiffany. One look is all it takes. Jake is a patient man- loyal with a strong sense of duty. He has been through a great loss which makes him so gentle, humble and compassionate. I loved Jake.

This is a sweet, clean romance. There is at least one instance of mild swearing that I can remember. There is some violence (domestic abuse, attempted murder and some fighting). While the romance here is sweet with only kisses, the main characters do become involved before a divorce is finalized.

  • Sally906

This book is described as a sweet romance - and it certainly fits the description. Tiffany is an abused wife and her grandfather and his mafia connection friends help her escape with a new identity. She arrives in Kittle Falls for an overnight stay and meets Jake. Jake has a few issues as well - he is exhausted from keeping the family business afloat after his parents fell apart when his sister died. His brothers have left the community leaving Jake to cope with the shop, his dying sister and his traumatised parents. When Tiffany walked into the shop she is like a breath of fresh air.

Overall I really enjoyed the story - but were a few niggles that stopped me from loving it. The Insta attraction is fair enough but within a few days they wanted to commit to a full relationship (no bedroom scenes - just described feelings). Jakes parents were utterly over the top with their unreasonable demands. I also knew from page 1 that her ex was going to turn up in town for a show down, and as soon as she told the mechanic to ring her grandfather I knew the weak link. I did think that if her grandfather did have Mafia connections Tiffany would have safely disappeared and the ex would have been dealt with - so that story thread didn’t work for me. BUT, I did enjoy the easy read and Jake’s brothers each have a book to come.

When Tiffany's husband becomes too abusive, she turns to her grandpa for help. Between him and his poker buddies they are able to get her a used car, new identity and money for her to escape and start fresh somewhere where her ex will never find her. She had been on the run for several days when she stumbles upon Kittle Falls. Exhausted and in need of sleep, she decides to stay for a night. While shopping for food she meets Jake. There is just something about him that draws her in. But she is hurt, broken and trusts no one. Will she ever be able to undo the damage her ex has done and open up to anyone again?

Jake has spent years putting everyone else's needs in front of his own. Between taking care of his dying sister for two years and then having to take over this parents convenient store so they can mourn the loss of their daughter, he is beyond physically and mentally drained. He needs a break and he needs things to change like yesterday. When he meets the beautiful Tiffany for the first time, he starts realizing all the things he has been missing out on.

Jake is definitely intrigued by Tiffany and will do anything and everything in his power to get to know her better. She is resistant at first but slowly realizes that Jake is one person that she'll never have to worry about hurting her. But is she willing to put his life in danger to see where things could lead between them? Or will she move on to the next town before she gets in too deep?

Seaside Surprises was a cute, quick read that I enjoyed. There were a couple things that bugged me while reading. There were a few inconsistencies here and there but the main one was his parents. Ugh! I get that they were stressed, I get that they had lost their daughter but hello! Jake lost her too! They were absolutely horrible to him for the majority of the book in my opinion. He is the one that put his life on hold to take care of all their needs. And they pay him back by treating him like the red-headed step child?! Nope! Not liking that at all! That storyline really left a bad taste in my mouth for his parents. Especially when they treated his other brothers (who were never around mind you) a lot better than they treated him. I really wish we could have seen them actually admitting they were in the wrong and see them make an effort in fixing their broken relationship.

But I am not going to let them stop me from moving on to the next book in this series! I am looking forward to Brayden's story! :)

And of course my review wouldn't be complete without a casting... ;) What do you think?!

I loved this book! I stumbled upon book four,
Seaside Kisses when it was free a few weeks ago. I didn't expect much when I started it this week, but was soon addicted. After wrapping that up, I immediately looked up the rest. I got Seaside Suprises as part of a starter pack when I signed up for Stacy Claflin's newsletter (three free books!).

Seaside Suprises was just as wonderful as Seaside Kisses. It followed the story of Jake Hunter, the youngest of the five Hunter brothers. Jake is running his family's general store, and while his parents grieve the loss of his sister to cancer, he is doing it alone. His days are long, and his social life is nonexistent until Tiffany Saunders comes through town.

I loved Jake and Tiffany's story. They both are overcoming hard things in their lives, but I loved the way they worked together, were there for each other, and joked around with one another. There was also a suspense aspect to the story, along with the very sweet romance.

Content: clean (some kissing, mild violence)
Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book when I signed up for the author's newsletter (yay!)

Jake Hunter lost so much when his sister died of cancer. Not only did he lose his best friend, but his parents are having a hard time coping with her loss. And they are placing more burdens on him leaving him no time to grieve.

With the help of her grandfather and his friends Tiffany Saunders is running away from an abusive marriage. Using the pseudonym Elena she is passing through Kittle Falls when she walks into Jake's family's shop. Car trouble keeps her in Kittle Falls longer than she expected. Jake is the complete opposite of her soon-to-be-ex-husband but she isn't sure her heart can take the risk of falling in love again.

The plot was really predictable, but it was a sweet, enjoyable read with likable characters. I would definitely be interested in reading the other stories about Jake's four brothers...

    Rating: 3.5 stars
Content: Clean (the couple dated before her divorce was final); mild violence (a fight which escalates into an attempted drowning)

2.5 stars. Great idea , poor execution.

This is definitely one of those stories that you new what was going to happen before it ever happened. This happens a lot in contemporary books but all is good if the story is executed correctly. Unfortunately, this failed.

We are introduced to Elaine aka Tiffany, why she was on the run, how she ended up in Kittle Falls, etc.

We are introduced to Jack, what his family was up against, how life is hurting, etc.

the surrounding and internal conflict of Tiffany and Jack is so flat lined, and again, executed lamely; that it made the characters seem whiney the whole time. Although, they are very strong.

A lot of inner monologue, which means a lot of skimming.

I can’t recommend; needs a redo with more first person rather than inner monologue

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy Seaside Surprise as much as I had hoped I would. My main issue from the beginning is I kept thinking how this is kind of like Nicholas Sparks' Safe Haven book, which I really enjoyed. This story had a lot of similarities, but it just wasn't as good. Even if I hadn't read Sparks' story first I don't think I would have really enjoyed Seaside Surprise.

Tiffany is running away from an abusive husband. He is mentally/emotionally abusive and was just starting to get physical. She has the help of her grandfather to give her money and support to start over somewhere new. She is upset with herself for staying with her husband for so long and is also kind of skittish around other people. Until she meets Jake. She keeps thinking how she shouldn't be involved with anyone else right now, but then she instantly feels safe with Jake. Plus he is just so cute! How could she not want to be with him. Part of the main issue I had with the story was that the character didn't seem realistic to me. If she was so broken by her abusive husband it would take more than a day for her to be pretty much fine again and comfortable with other people. I just didn't really see her as skittish and hesitant like she was supposed to be as the writing didn't make her come off that way, except in the rare instances where she would shy away from someone or something. It just didn't work for me.

Jake has his own issues. He never thought he would get married. He just lost his sister whom he was very close to her. He was the one taking care of her as she died. He hasn't really had time to deal with her death since he has been working open to close at his parents story. He is finally getting to the point where he needs help or he is just going to not stay open the hours they normally are. He is just burned out and needs a break. And then he meets Tiffany and is almost instantly in love with her. He will protect her forever. Yey.

The story is just not written as well as I would have liked. Tiffany and Jake weren't really believable to me. Well I could believe that there would be someone like Jake who would be super supportive of someone like Tiffany, but everything else just didn't work for me. There was one scene where afterwards they think how amazing it is to be with the other, how they both shared so much and have grown closer, only they didn't really share much with each other. It wasn't like a long detailed conversation to really get to know the other person. Tiffany was just said I was married and he was horrible to me. That is about all. What more do you need? Maybe some thoughts and feelings and stuff to actually have that connection grow and be a stronger connection? Anything? It just didn't work. I didn't see them actually being in love. Oh well, this is not the book for me.

Tiffany is on the run from an abusive husband. But when she stops in a small seaside tourist town for the night she meets a guy that just might make her stay. It certainly helps her decision when the car won't start the next morning. The problem is, she's still in trouble and Jake only knows her as Elena. If she can ever find a safe place, she wants to settle down and find her forever family.

The story had some deep and serious topics, but the author was able to keep it from being too dark by infusing sweet and romantic elements. The characters were flawed, but endearing. It's a clean romance with just a little bit of violence at the end. The author brought several family members into the story and left several openings for the next few books in the series. It will be interesting to see where she goes with them.

I received this book free of charge from Inspired Kathy in exchange for my honest review.

2.5 Stars. This book just didn't have anything original and on top of that the character depth was lacking. Tiffany is on the run from an abusive husband and trying to find a safe place to restart her life. She is passing through a small town on the ocean and stops for the night where she meets Jake. She has no intention of staying but then her car breaks down.

I didn't buy Tiffany as an abused wife. She didn't come across that way in most of her interactions and that was an issue for me. Jake and Tiffany had an instant attraction that turned into instant love and yet they had very few interactions and Tiffany didn't really tell Jake much about herself. I liked Jake although I had a hard time picturing him because some characters described him as muscular and gorgeous and yet her ex husband made him sound scrawny. I wanted to like this and although I didn't dislike it the book didn't stand out and I don't think I'll continue the series.

  • Lisa (Bookworm Lisa)

Tiffany is running from her abusive husband. Her goal is to get far away as quickly as possible. She stops in a little tourist town and has car problems. The good part about that is that she gets to spend a little more time with Jake, the guy from the convenience store. He is everything her husband isn't and she can't stay away, even though she knows it would be better if she did.

This was a cute book. I liked Tiffany and Jake. They are two great people who need to find some happiness in life. Their time together is full of outside problems that make it harder for them to find their happily ever after.

The book is clean and looks like it is the first in a series. Jake has brothers who need a little bit of happiness and romance as well.

  • Joan

A fairly thin book, lacking in depth. The characters were 2 dimensional and some parts of the story seemed to have been tacked on as an afterthought. Jake's family were shallow and thoughtless and thoroughly irritating.

  • Jennifer G

Seaside Surprises is another delightful book by Stacy Claflin. She has become one of my go-to authors for sweet, romantic reads.

Tiffany (Going by Elena) is on the run from an abusive soon to be ex-husband. Kittle Falls, a quaint tourist beach town, is meant to be a one night stop as she flees. Jake is recovering from the trauma of taking care of his sister over the last 2 years as she suffered and died from cancer. Now instead of having time for himself to mourn, he is responsible for his family's store. Neither is looking for a relationship when they meet, but both are immediately attracted to the other. Later that evening when they cross paths again, they go out for ice cream, and it begins... Because of a little bad/good car luck Tiffany is stuck in town for a few extra days. Days that are special to her and Jake.

Both Tiffany and Jake are going through rough times, adjusting to changes and losses, but neither can ignore how quickly they are falling for the other. There's drama, suspense, and danger, but it never interferes. They still make time to spend together. I love how when secrets are bared, there is immediate understanding. In so many books, the couples act like children, throw tantrums, refuse to communicate, and drag out forgiveness. These two cared about the other's well-being at all times. They may not have come together at an easy time in their lives, and they may have only known each other for a short period of time, but they care about one another. This could be a forever kind of relationship. I also loved their families; Tiffany's grandfather and Jake's brothers.

This is a well-written, clean book. The characters are likable, the relationships believable, and the story entertaining. It sweet and you come away feeling good at the end. I look forward to reading the rest of Jake's brother's books. Recommend.

Seaside Surprises was a charming book about Tiffany, the girl with an abusive husband, and Jake, the guy whose family steps all over him. Tiffany finally decides to leave her abusive husband and flee with her grandpa’s help; she takes on her deceased grandma’s name, Elena, and runs. Jake’s sister Sophia recently passed away from cancer and he is left to run his family’s convenience store because they are mourning her loss, even though he is mourning too. He is expected to open the shop first thing in the morning and keep it open until closing time in the evening, without anyone else to help him.

Tiffany gets to Kittle Falls before her car breaks down. She needs some food while she is stuck in town and happens to meet Jake at his store. At first, Tiffany doesn’t want to get to know Jake because she is only passing through, but as the days go by and her car doesn’t get fixed (perhaps with a little ‘help’ from the mechanic who also happens to be Jake’s friend) she begins to like who Jake is and how he makes her feel.

Overall, this book is well written. I enjoyed the suspense at the end, but would have liked to see more throughout the book. At the first description of Jake I honestly thought he was an overly weight man in his 40s who didn’t have the chance to get married, but it turns out that he is a lean, muscled, young guy; I might only be the one who thought this by reading his description, but I thought it would have been better if the author hadn’t mentioned that he was covered in sweat as the intro for him. Other than that, the book was a good read.

  • Julie

I've never read this author before and was pleasantly surprised. She has a nice, easy style, and creates characters that are likable.

This story is about Jake Hunter who has lost his sister to cancer. His family is trying to cope and doing a terrible job of it. He's pulling double duty at the family shop and isn't exactly happy about it, but doesn't know what to do, really. He meets Tiffany Saunders, a beautiful and mysterious woman who is passing through town. At least, she thinks she is, until she has some car trouble and has to stay a little longer.

Tiffany has a terrible background. She's running from her abusive husband and her grandpa is helping her hide her identity and start over. Stopping in Kittle Falls and meeting Jake is a twist of fate she wasn't expecting and she ends up staying and getting to know him better. Her self-esteem is pretty low due to her abusive marriage, but her interactions with Jake show her that she can have a chance at love again, if she'll only take the risk.

This story dealt with some heavy material and definitely wasn't a fluffy beach read. I liked the ocean setting and the fact that this is a start of a series. (Jake's brothers will probably get their own stories.) I thought the author did a great job dealing with the grief of Jake's family and the fear and abuse on Tiffany's side, showing that two people who are broken can heal.

I did receive a digital copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. For this reason, this review will be longer than I usually post.

A grieving brother trying to help his parents run their store in a touristy town. A woman on the run from an abusive husband passing through the town. What happens when they meet? And can they keep it together when tragedy hits and her secrets lay exposed?

I have enjoyed many of Stacy Claflin's books and this book wasn't a disappointment. This is not a genre that I typically read but I thought "why not." Sometimes it is nice to read a good romance without all the naughty parts. With that being said, this is a great start to a series. It appears the brothers are going to get their own books! I will for sure be reading those as well.

This book has a wonderful set of likeable characters.I think everyone needs a Grandpa Alfie! I am glad the brother characters are a bit of a mystery at this point. I will be looking forward to the rest of the series.

  • Cathy

This is a cute romance that really put me in the mood for summer and heading to the beach! I really liked both Jake and Tiffany. Tiffany is running from her husband who had been abusive to her, and I was kind of waiting the whole book for him to catch up to her. Luckily there's also Jake to focus on. He is really a great character, he's been running his family's tourist shop all by himself. His younger sister died not long before the story starts and his parents aren't ready to work in the shop themselves yet, but are also not willing to hire anyone other than family to work there either.

I really liked the town of Kittle Falls, it's basically a tourist town. It's full of great characters that I hope that I get to learn more about in another book. And Jake's family are really great too! I know there will be more books about them.

If you are in the mood for a cute, clean, fun, easy to read romance this is the book for you!

  • Tressa (Wishful Endings)

Seaside Surprises was an overall sweet read. It was clean, there was a sleepy and small coastal town for the setting, a big Hunter family introduction for this first book in the series, some interesting characters, a little suspense, and some romance.

I did have a hard time staying connected with the characters. I just felt that their choices and actions weren't consistent and didn't make sense for who they were supposed to be and in the situations they were in. I also wanted a lot more depth with the characters, including those from the Hunter family.

It's a series that has potential. This first one just fell a little flat for me.

Seaside Surprises is a sweet romance with a dash of suspense. Tiffany is trying to make a new start after enduring an abusive relationship. Jack is mourning the loss of his sister and single handedly trying to keep the family business running.
I enjoyed the way the main characters cautiously opened up to one another. Both Jack and Tiffany have issues and emotions they are dealing with and the book felt very authentic in that aspect. I love the seaside setting, Stacy did a wonderful job describing the outdoor activities and scenery. The glimpses of Jack's brothers' personalities promises great stories throughout the series and I am looking forward to experiencing them as well!
I received this copy through the author's website and the opinions expressed are my own.

Tiffany is on the run from her abusive husband. Her grandpa who raised her helps her get a new identity with the help of his poker buddies. They use her grandma's name Elena. Her car breaks down in a small, quaint seaside town called Kittle Falls. She ends up meeting Jake and the two are instantly attracted to each other. Tiffany know s she should keep moving farther away from her husband but she can't seem to leave this lovable town and Jake. Can Tiffany have a second chance at true love and be happy again? Read the book today to find out. I loved every minute of this story and I would love to live in Kittle Falls.

  • Cheri

I would give this book 3.5 stars.

I like a book that grabs you from the beginning and grips you so that you have to keep reading. This story is one of those kinds of books. Tiffany is running scared, she is afraid her husband will find her and she is scared of him. He will do anything he can to hurt her.
Jake runs the family business and just wants to have time for himself, but his parents and brothers have taken advantage of him and he is ready to put his foot down.

This is a clean quick read.

  • Kristen

Enjoyed this one a lot. It was hard to read about her relationship with Trent, what a loser. Jack's family was functionally dysfunctional. I didn't love how she found Jack so soon after leaving Trent, she wasn't even divorced yet. But overall I enjoyed it.

One thing bugged me, his shop was constantly busy but never mentioned delivery of goods and stocking the shelves was only mentioned once. I guess stuff magically appeared on it.

Moral Note: Verbal and physical abuse, mild to heavy violence. A cut off swear word.

  • Stephanie

Stacy Claflin did a great job writing a romance for those who don't want to be bombarded with 50 Shades of language or nudity. The character development is well done, and her descriptions are well written. Her writing style is easy and clean. Perfect for a beach read or a book short enough to read over a weekend but long enough to feel like you've spent time with an author. If sweet romance is your thing, you'll love this.
