Today - yes, I read this in a day [around 11:00 am; started at 9,9:30] I decided to read a contemporary romance. Lately, most of the books I've read were unsatisfying. So it is a pleasant surprise to find a book that fills in all the categories of what a good book should be.
    Characters:
    Rebecca Hamilton

A passionate doctor, Rebecca wears her heart on her sleeve when it comes to her patients. She does have a Mary - Sue -esque when it comes to her own image, but there is good reason for this as . A -dare I say it- well rounded out character who did not piss me off once.
    Gabe Thorne
Standoffish at first, Gabe's frosty demeanor slowly thaws as he starts to fix his relationship with his sister under the guidance of Rebecca.
    Compliments and Complaints
a)Rebecca and Gabe were well developed, but the focus around their relationship, 18 year old Amy, was woefully underdeveloped. The epitome of the teenage cliche`, she was surly and non responsive to almost everything. True, granted her situation, the response was appropriate to the situation, but her character could have been built on soo much more.

I have never met a teen like this.
    Environment Building
I like how The hospital was located in Las Vegas, just a few miles from the strip. You don't really see serious stories placed in such a fun, wild place as Vegas.
    World building:
    3/5
    Sex Scenes:

being a contemporary romance and not an erotica, the romance scenes are notable less intense. However, both scenes were romantic and had purpose.
    Rating: 4/5
    Overall Review:

A cheesy yet Heartwarming romance, this book has reminded me of what's missing in today's literature: true romance.
Why can't all books be like this!!

The Millionaire and the M. D. by Teresa Southwick is a fun, quick, yet enjoyable read about second chances. About two people who were trying to get away from the past but found each other.

Gabe Hamilton vowed to never fall in love again and get married. Been there, then that. He’s not stupid enough to risk his heart again, not after what happened years ago.

Rebecca Hamilton, the young gorgeous doctor that shook Gabe’s world. She reminded him of all the things he wanted to forget; love, marriage, and family.

But fate brought them together. And made them realized that they both deserve a second chance.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this, even though it was almost the end when Gabe realized his feelings. I also liked how the characters dealt with their problems on their own or even with the help of other people.

I also enjoyed Amy’s character, Gabe’s 18-year-old sister. She’s actually the one who brought Gabe and Rebecca together. If not for her, Gabe will not be able to move on from the past completely. This book also showed us teen pregnancy and let us know the best way to handle it; with our family’s unconditional love and support.

If you’re into books about second chances, this one’s for you.

Another author I will probably try again. Bad title but relatively good plot with some depth to it and the characters.

  • Grace Pokela

I only sort of know what happened. Yay, Espanol!!
