He lived an idyllic life…
One day, Flynn, Earl of Luxmoore, was a wealthy, carefree lord, courting the woman he intended to wed. And the next day, he’s stripped of all but his title and left with no means to care for his loved ones. When the person responsible for his ruination offers him a solution—marriage to an unwilling and resentful American beauty—he has no choice but to accept. Not if he wants to care for his ailing mother, elderly grandmother, and disabled sister.
Fate dealt her a cruel hand…
Angelina Ellsworth unwittingly committed bigamy, and when she finds herself pregnant, she’ll do anything to protect her baby. Including fleeing to England and marrying a handsome nobleman, every bit as desperate and opposed to their marriage of convenience as she. She agrees to wed Flynn, stipulating two conditions: the union is in name only, and after a year, they’ll go their separate ways. Except, Angelina didn’t count on her first husband, refusing to let her go.
Resentment and anger war with passion and desire…
Flynn risks his life to protect Angelina from the madman pursuing her, but is his sacrifice enough? Can a woman who’s vowed to never trust a man again and an embittered lord find contentment in an arranged marriage neither wanted?

Triumph and Treasure (Highland Heather Romancing a Scot, #1) Reviews
-
The first novel of Collette Cameron I have tried and I was disappointed. There are dozens of 4/5 star reviews waxing lyrical so why didn't I feel the same?
I was attracted by the unusual premise, sweet girl swept off her feet by a handsome, dashing French man. Within hours of her wedding Angelina Ellsworth discovers that her handsome hubby is nothing but a lying, cheating bigamist but even worse she is informed that he is also a slave-trader, the scum of the earth. Angelina travels to England to stay with her Aunt and Uncle, the Duke and Duchess of Waterford, to lick her wounds, lay low for a while, and eventually return home to America to her Mother and sisters with a concocted story of her tragic widowhood. However, in the course of her brief 'marriage' to Pierre Renault alias Charles Moreau, in one brief, painful encounter, he has managed to impregnate her, her disillusionment is complete, she is a desperate young woman, pregnant, unmarried and ruined.
Flynn, Earl of Luxmoore is just about to propose marriage to a beautiful young Scotswoman when he is cruelly thwarted at the eleventh hour by the news that his Father has been ruined in a card game by the Duke of Waterford, unable to bear the shame, with a sick wife and disabled child to care for, the Marquess blows his brains out. Flynn is now completely responsible for, not only his Father's debts of honour, but also for his female relatives. An honourable man, Flynn abandons all hope of marriage and returns to his Country seat to assess the damage.
The Duke, a neighbour of Flynn's and previously a great friend of his Father's in their younger days, approaches Flynn with a proposition - marry his pregnant niece and all debts will be null and void
It all becomes a little silly, I was already sceptical at this point, Ms. Cameron has attempted to create a thoroughly English/Scottish novel, Georgette Heyer style, but it just doesn't work - for me anyway. "Dicked in the nob", "ye gods", "perchance", "mammoth ta-ra diddle", "cork brained", "ninny hammer", "egads", "blister it", "soundly whack the bounder on his nob" etc etc just doesn't sit well with the modern language and Americanisms peppered throughout. Added to which there is a certain crudity in parts....."Hush Waterford. The only thing anyone smells is the unpleasant lingering effects of your digestive disruptions." "Bum", "fart" and "belch" are frequently used, presumably to inject some humour, I am no prude, just found it cringeworthy.
The plot is convoluted, contradictory and complicated and there is a vast cast of characters who are added randomly throughout the story and which I continually lost track of and kept having to backtrack to get clear in my mind.
There are a few discrepancies too, Flynn has a Dalmatian dog and although they did apparently become popular in the UK in the late 1800's, this novel is set in 1818. Also, probably a typo, but irritating nevertheless, "amendable" instead of, I would think "amenable".
Flynn and Angelina are sweet, good and honourable characters and theirs is a love story worth telling and the original idea was good but I feel Collette Cameron tried to pack too much in and ends up overwhelming the reader - this reader anyway. I am definitely in the minority in my criticism of this novel so perhaps it is simply that I do not appreciate the writing style of this author. The premise, generally good writing and lovely characters should have earned this novel 3 stars but in the end only 2.5 because of my criticisms - only mine though; as I said, Ms. Cameron has many admirers as is evident in the grading of other reviewers. -
I received a copy of Triumph and Treasure by Collette Cameron in exchange for a fair and honest review. This book is great read. It made me laugh, and it made me cry.
Angelina Ellsworth is sent to England to live with her aunt and uncle to escape disgrace after discovering her new husband is already married. Unfortunately she finds that her one time with the man who deceived has left her with child. In comes Flynn, the Earl of Luxmoore. Flynn is trying to cover his father’s enormous debt owed to Angelina’s uncle. When Angelina’s uncle offers to forgive the debt if Flynn marries Angelina, Flynn is none too happy about the prospect. That is until he meets her.
I really enjoyed the obvious sparks and sexual tension between Angelina and Flynn from the beginning. More than that, I loved the way Flynn cared for Angelina and the child she carried. The progression of their relationship was a little fast, but didn’t feel rushed. The only thing I would have liked to see more of was the mystery and suspense in the story. I felt like all the mystery was wrapped up a little too quickly. The story set the stage for future books about several other characters with no cliffhangers. I gave this book 4.5 stars and recommend it for anyone looking for a fun historical romance. -
You know what was great about this book? The lead characters are really nice people. They don’t snipe at others, argue or yell. They care about their families and each other. They want what is best for those that they love and when tragedy is upon them, they deal with it together. It’s rare to read a historical romance novel with such lovely main characters.
Angelina has been duped by her brand new husband. She flees to England to wait out the scandal and perhaps start a new life. When she arrives in England to stay with her aunt and uncle, she finds out that she is pregnant. She isn’t actually married, as her ‘husband’ Charles, is actually a married man named Pierre, who also happens to be a slave trader. It’s a disaster, but her family is protecting her.
Flynn is experiencing just as many problems as Angelina. His father got drunk, gambled away everything that wasn’t entailed and then killed himself. His mother experienced a stroke at the same time and he has to find a way to keep his father’s enemy from claiming his marker from the gamble his father made. The author writes Flynn with such compassion. You feel for him as he is such a caring son and desperately wants to save his family.
A solution comes from Angelina’s uncle Ambrose, who is the man Flynn’s father gambled with. He tells Flynn that if he marries Angelina he will forgive the debt. Flynn can’t understand how marrying Angelina is a problem that must be solved. He finds her lovely and beautiful. He doesn’t believe that Ambrose isn’t cooking up something to trick him, but he can’t fathom what.
I loved how Angelina and Flynn are honest with each other. Angelina doesn’t shy away from telling Flynn the truth about her circumstances and what he would be getting himself into. Flynn also is completely honest with her about what transpired between his father and her uncle. They come to their own terms and agree to try marriage for at least a year. The only slight deceit in the book is that Flynn thinks that the terms he created with Angelina can’t be enforced by law.
Everything that was wrong with Angelina’s first marriage is better with Flynn. He treats her so well and she is happy with him. When things inevitably go wrong, they lean on each other and trust in each other to solve the problems. I totally loved that. I enjoyed that they didn’t turn away from each other and were a source of support. There are some amazing twists and turns in this book – things you see coming and some that you don’t. There is great drama along with the beautiful love story.
I really enjoyed this book because the author made Flynn and Angelina such wonderful characters. It was fresh and original that they were so good and that you could root for them and the adversary they faced, without having to overcome some character flaw like arrogance or temper. This was my first book by Collette Cameron, but it won’t be my last!

***FTC Disclaimer: I received an ARC e-copy of the story from the author for my honest review.***
I loved Triumph and Treasure! As always, Collette Cameron delivers a fast-paced, action-packed, Regency romance novel with many twists and turns!
Only hours after getting married, Angelina learns the man she married is not whom he says he is, not only that, but he’s already married! Angry, embarrassed and utterly ruined, Lina cannot go home! Boarding a ship, she leaves Massachusetts and sails to England for a lengthy visit with her Aunt Camille and Uncle Ambrose, the Duke of Waterford. Vowing never to trust a man again!
But while in England, Lina finds her uncle has other plans for her. The Duke is not happy with Lina’s situation, and, through devious ways, finds a new husband for her.
Flynn, the Earl of Luxmoore, is being blackmailed by the Duke of Waterford to marry his niece. Before his death, Flynn’s father gambled and lost the family fortune to the Duke. Now Flynn is responsible for his father’s debt. The Duke offers Flynn two choices, marry Lina and the debt would be forgiven or have no way to support his ailing mother, invalid sister, and elderly grandmother. Flynn is desperately trying to find another way out of this mess...until he meets Lina. There is something about her that tugs at his heart, and he quickly feels the need to protect her too.
I love Ms. Cameron’s characters! The chemistry and sexual tension between Flynn and Lina are wonderful! I love how caring and loyal Flynn is, not only with Lina, but with his mom, sister, and grandmother.
I also love how Ms. Cameron has threaded characters from her previous stories into this one. For example, Flynn is related to the Craiglocky Clan, from the Castle Brides series.
After being fooled by a man whom she thought she loved, Lina begins making a mental list of rules to avoid falling into a trap like that again. I got a kick out of all of her rules. Some of them had me chuckling!
I really enjoyed Triumph and Treasure! The first in the Highland Heather Romancing a Scot Series, and I look forward to reading the next! -

My review :
Will a woman betrayed by the man she loved and a man finding himself bordering destitution be able to see past their own deception...
Oh my!
The opening chapters felt like a grand tragedy, as both main heroes find themselves in dire if not tragic circumstances.
Then I do not know how, Mrs Collette Cameron plays her magic and words and situations reverts everything to set a different pace.
This story is a bundle of emotions, from sadness and hurt to anger and rage but also laugh and joy.
Be warned the first two chapters are sorrowful as Angelina and Flynn get their dreams shattered to piece.
Even if it is not named, while Angelina was willing and anticipating her “wedding night”, the way her husband treated her, it was simply a rape.
There are so many twists and turns, it is nearly impossible to summarize everything, still as a first in a series, it introduces aplenty of characters which will have their own story in the books to come.
And now I want to read their adventures too.
Then, what about Angelina and Flynn, both surprised me. They didn’t take the road I would have expected, they never let their anger get in the way of their wits, they ponder before acting.
Oh they are far from flawless, and it is what make them awesome characters.
Angelina is an impressive strong woman, when she could have decided to hate the life growing inside her womb and leave it behind, she instead choose to make a living for its sake, refusing to abandon her child to come. She is overprotective and thinks ahead.
But it does not sum up all her strengths, she has also a wild side, and some humor.
Yet she lacks of self-confidence as the men around her blatantly feasted on hers, destroying the trust she could have had.
Flynn as a man enjoyed his life with no restraint, until everything went crashing down. His reaction to his near destitution shows the real Flynn, not the social animal but the man who cares for those he loves, a man does his best to right the wrong done, and a man when he should hate the person responsible for his dear situation, he chooses to weigh his options by agreeing to the trap set for him.
He is also not one to judge and dismiss Angelina because of her predicament. He is a protector, and a defender is what she really needs.
Their most important trait is their willingness to discuss and be straight, with time, it might help them form a truce, and even move forward.
Mrs Collette Cameron gave her characters a true voice, they express their struggles and doubts, but also the shift in their feelings, it makes them more blood and flesh than paper and ink. She champions their actions and helps them to forge ahead.
One last word about the vilainS, as there is not one but two, while I disliked the cunning cheater, Angeline fell for, the Duke is probably one of the most awful characters I have read for long. There is no blood nor torture but the way he tricked Flynn’s father and how he reigns on his household, shows the true monster housed in his soul.
5 stars for this awesome tale of acceptance and resilience
I was granted an advance copy of the enhanced rerelease of this book, I also own the first version.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

THIS IS A REAL TREASURE. Angelina the heroine is getting married or she believes she is to Charles. He has paid for a room and they get right to the bedroom scene with their clothes on. It was a wham bam thank you mam.
There is a knock at the door they think it is the meal that he ordered. He tries to straighten his clothes and there is another knock even harder and louder Charles gores to open it while Angelina wipes her self down. She hears voices so she knows it not the food. She goes into the room and sees a man talking to Charles with another man by the door with a gun. The first man she finds out is a baron and her husband's name is Pierre. And he is a slave trader and he is already married. The Baron takes him away but Pierre/Charles makes her a few promises.
She cant go back home to Salem so her mother suggests she goes to England her her twin sisters place and her aunt is a Duchess. Meanwhile on the ship to England Angelina finds out she is pregnant. Meanwhile Flynn (the hero)(his father is a Marques) is at a ball and he wants to propose marriage to a lady. He plans on doing it the next day. But he gets bad news from a friend his father is in London , he was drinking and gambling. And he lost everything and I mean everything to the duke .
He rushes our if the ball room and the next day he goes through everything and finds our his mother is sick and they are broke. He goes back home. And that is where he meets Angelina. She had climbed up a tree when a bull with his harm scare her. Flynn saves her and they next meet at the dukes house for tea because the duke gave Flynn (the Marques) a deal marry her and all is forgiven.
They agree to the marriage for different reasons and they go to Scotland. While at the breakfast dinner she meets the Baron and the lady Flynn was going to marry and to top it off she loses the baby. Flynn and her find out the scoundrel Charles went back to Salem to find her and the Baron brought her mother and sisters to England and Charles is in England also.
While in London Flynn finds out the duke Cheated with marked cards. And when Angelina sees her sick mother she finds out who her real father is. Flynn has come to love her and she him. They make a go of the marriage. And it's a great story. You'll love the Epilogue. But the book to find out who her father is. What Charles did and why he is back in England. Find out what Flynn does or dosnt do to the knowledge about the cheating duke. I loved loved the ending So will you -
Loved this story. I'm from the Boston area and loved how the story opens up with the heroine Angelina(Lina) just newly married heading to the hotel in Boston for the honeymoon. But we soon learn that the marriage was a betrayal of the worst kind. He lied to get her and he is wanted by his stepson to be brought back to France where his "still alive" wife is awaiting him. With her ruination her mother sends her to England to reside with her Aunt and Uncle, the duke and duchess of Waterford. Lina has Scottish aristocratic blood and there hoping that she will be able to get back her respectability. But that is not to be because she find that she is with child and that changes everything. We find out just what her uncle is about, and how dispicable he can be.
Meanwhile Flynn, the earl of Luxemoore is attending a ton event in London. He has start d to have feelings for a young lady and is planning on asking her to marry him. But it is not to be. All hell breaks loose before he can. He learns that his father had just committed suiside and not only that but he gambled away everything that there family owned to the Duke of Waterford!
This is just the first two chapters! So as you can see the roller coaster begins. Lina and Flynn are now thrown together and find that there is a plot afoot. How will they figure out what is going on and will they go along with it?
Loved Lina and Flynn they are such wonderful characters. I couldn't put the book down and can't wait for the next book in this series!
I received an ARC for my honest review of the book. I recommend this book to anyone who loves historical, regency romance novels and just an FYI there is no awkward sex scenes! -
This novel had me in absolute stitches at times. Cameron combines romance with a dash of suspense in an unforgettable manner. The well-executed plot was full of twists and turns. Cameron captured my attention and my emotions. Her picturesque descriptions take you from the British countryside to Scotland to London in a vivid manner.
The cast of characters in this novel was perfect. The main characters were very well developed. I enjoyed how different yet similar they were. They were also all-round good people that you wanted to see succeed, even if the circumstances weren’t necessarily the best. I love Lina’s list. I laughed each time she added a new element to it. It was quite revealing as to who she was & what she’d been through. The supporting cast rounded out the story nicely. I appreciated how there was conflict between them, but yet they all came together the way true friends and family do.
All together this was a very enjoyable read. It was a fantastic start to Cameron’s new series. I can’t wait to read more & would definitely recommend it to others.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review. -
A book I found hard to put down. Collette Cameron has an elegant writing style, a wonderful way with words. This was a wonderfully told story of a young lady that falls very hard for a man, and then is betrayed in the worst possible way. The rest of the story is......well I won't give anything away, but there is more tragedy, tears, sadness, joy, love, there is a wide range of emotions you'll experience through this story. One thing is sure, you will fall in love with the characters in this book. I'm so glad I read this story and cannot wait for more in this series! This book will be added to my to be read again shelf :) You won't want to miss this unique story, so buy this book now for yourself and a friend.

Boston, Mass 1818 Angelina Ellsworth..no, she was Mrs Moreau now, could not believe she was married, and to wonderful Charles! But how quickly happiness can turn false and her world crumbled when she found out he was a slave trader and married! Broken hearted but determined, she and her mother decided she would go for a long stay with her Aunt Camille and Uncle Ambrose in London.
In London, Flynn, is now the new Earl of Luxmore since he father had just committed suicide, finds out his father gambled away everything right before that final act. What to do? He had his Grandmother, sister and mother to take care of...
In a twist of fate, the man who won everything makes a deal with Flynn that if he will marry his niece Angelina, who is now pregnant (yes the bounder!!) he not make good on his winnings and Flynn can keep everything.
Collette Cameron has written a book of the heart that has these two amazing people coming together by a twist of fate and their journey to find happiness. As always her characters come alive and pull you into the story to the point of feeling their heartache and joy. Loved this book! -
The author has given you a very touching story of love, betrayal, secrets, lost, hurt and pain. I found this to be a very good read with a few twist and turns to keep the story interesting. If this would have happen into today’s age things would have been done different. Back in to old days women didn’t have many choices and had to do what was best for them. I feel the author gave you a delightful well written story of a women who had the cards stacked against her. Of a man who had few choice but to marry said women to keep his money and take care of his family in a time when a man’s honor was most important.
Angelina who married for love and had high hopes for a wonderful future found out within hours of marrying that her husband is already married. She cannot return home or she would be the laughing stock. She goes to England to stay with her aunt and uncle, only to find she is expecting with no father in sight. Her uncle decides she must marry, he picks that man and sets forward a chain of events to make sure the marriage takes place. What it must be like to have to marry a man you do not know for the sake of your child.
Flynn father plays cards one night only to lose it all to Angelina uncle, he can’t live with it and commits suicide. Angelina uncle will forgo the winnings if Flynn will marry Angelina. Flynn is at a cross roads, he loves another women and plans to marry her. If he marries his love he loses everything, he can keep it all if he marries Angelina. What is a man to do…. Flynn has no choice but to accept the duke’s proposal, in doing so he can take care of his ill mother, grandmother and his chair ridden sister.
You would think the story would end with them falling madly in love but the author has other ideas for us. She leads us on a merry little chase of twist, turns, and secrets before she lets us find out if they will in fact find true love or part ways.
I found this to be an interesting read which I did enjoy. I found the words to flow easy and the plot to be outstanding. At times the author did loose me only to bring me back again into her folds. The author tells a wonderful story of betrayal of the worse kind why she teaches us again things are not always as they seem. The author has wonderful characters with lessons to learn, they find life isn’t always easy. This is a pretty clean read with passion but not trashy but passion of the best kind. This is the first book I have read of this author but it will not be the last. -
I went in blindly when I started reading the book. That is, I didn't read the blurb, I just knew I had to read it because it's by an author I'd liked in the past and decided to try this one. I don't regret that for an instant.
At first the story start as two different parallel stories, both Angelina and Flynn living what they thought was a perfect life and leaving me thinking where is all this going? But then, when their perfect lives shatter to pieces, their distress and anger is so palpable through the pages that I couldn't help but feel sorry for each one of them, even when I didn't know where the story was leading to.
Flynn is left in deep debt after his father's death and Angelina is left in shame at the hands of the worst of scoundrels and sent to live with his uncle, who happens to be the person Flynn's family must pay the debt to. A twist of fate offers a solution to both their conundrum but neither of them is sure if it would be the ideal thing to do: marriage to each other. Although Flynn finds Angelina fascinating and is willing to forget all dreams of attachment to another, Angelina is still hurt and not sure if she should marry. But Flynn is so charming that she can't help but fall for him when she thought she could never love again.
The story has plenty of twists and mystery to keep the pages turning and keep you guessing until the end. I love that the feelings and emotions are voiced though the characters actions rather that wordy descriptions. The historical set up is beautiful, each character so on point here. Flynn is a charmer that takes care of his family and friends, and when he falls for Angelina he's not afraid to show her how much. Angelina, in spite of being angry for her situation, develops an independent and mature outlook in life and doesn't become cruel or hateful. I'd call this a sweet story with some spice and lots of romance. I will definitely go blindly any time again for this author!

OMGoodness, I adored this first book in the author’s Highland Heather Romancing a Scot series! There was a really awful bad guy who treated Angelina so cruelly that she swore off men forever, there was a reluctant but sigh-worthy hero called Flynn who treated Angelina so wonderfully that she couldn’t help but fall in love with him, there was a potpourri of English and Scots family members –both good and bad, and an adventure and mystery to entice the most jaded historical romance reader. Sigh. It was simply terrific and I love Ms. Cameron’s writing!
I received a pre-published copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. -
A short book that's got a lot going on between the hero and heroine, her family, his family, her new husband and his stepson, etc. I wasn't bored with this book at all. What a way to start a book! Angelina's new husband, Charles Moreau quickly consummates their marriage, then minutes later is taken away by his stepson. Oh, wait, Charles's older wife is still alive, Charles isn't Charles and Charles committed bigamy!?! Then enters our hero, Flynn, Earl of Luxmoore. STOP!!! I don't want to give anymore away! Just let me say I recommend reading this book and it will definitely keep you entertained! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Wow, I have a few of Collette's novels and I don't know where I've been because this novel was wonderful!
This is an amazing story to start off her new series with and can't wait to see what's next in the series~ -
This is one of my favorite stories by Collette Cameron. I absolutely loved it. Very witty, with sensual romance and edge of your seat suspense. A must read.

In Triumph and Treasure the gentle Scottish lass, Angelina Ellsworth is tricked in to marriage and ravished by an evil man only to find out on her wedding day that he is a slave trader and also already married. She flees to England to her Aunt and Uncle, and finds herself with child.
Flynn, Earl of Luxmoore suddenly faces his father's death and the gambling debts that have left him with a title but little else. He is faced with paying his father's debt, taking care of his ailing mother, crippled sister, grandmamma and an elderly Aunt too.
Angelina's uncle will forgive Flynn's debt if he agrees to marry her. This is the basis of a story where the bride and groom race to Scotland where it is easier to marry quickly, escape from the evil man that still wants Angelina and further family issues when Angelina's mother and twin sisters come to England seeking safety from the slave trader.
The adventure is high, the bad guys continue to pursue the ladies until the end of the story and the romance is sweet, full of roses and solving trust issues. I do love a good adventure full of romance. -
After Lina finds out that the husband she knew as Charles was really Renault, a slave trader and already married, she knows that she’s ruined. Her mother concocts a story that she’s a widow and sends her to England to her Aunt and Uncle. Her Uncle Ambrose, a former friend of Flynn’s father, cheats at cards to hold a mark for everything not entailed. His father shoots himself, making Flynn the new Marquis. Ambrose offers to dismiss the debt if Flynn marries Lina. Flynn must have funds to care for his mother and sister, so he agrees. Lina agrees in order to care for the illegitimate child she carries, but she has lost all trust of men. She’s afraid that she may never get her trust back, but she may need to when they find out Renault is once again after her.
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to everyone. -
This is a review for the re-release of Triumph and Treasure by Collette Cameron. This is the first time I have read this book and loved it. A treasure of a book! Ms Cameron has certainly triumphed with her writing on this one. Flynn's and Angelina's story is engaging and has all the emotions. Didn't want to put it down. Highly recommend. **Spoiler Alert. There is a painful occurrence (one that has happened to many) that is very well handled by Ms. Cameron; however, be aware that deep emotions may be triggered.**

L'histoire se tient. Les personnages sont attachants et par moment émouvants. Cependant, j'ai eu un sentiment de manque. Par moment, on a l'impression que l'auteure ne savait plus comment continuer.

This is one of my favorite Cameron books. Whit, romance and a few steamy scenes...super good
