A formula stolen.

A president murdered.

A future threatened.

When governments and revolutionaries hold the keys to time, who is safe?

The Xi’an Liberation Society (XLS) banks on chaos. They exist to usurp the global Union government’s power. Their methods toe the line between rebellion and terrorism…and they have just discovered a top secret Union project. Led by Marcus Kline, the XLS launches a calculated assault on history in order to annihilate the Union’s future.

The only thing standing in their way is an elite team of time travel operatives: The Union Subdivision. But as the Subdivision attempts to preserve the past, they will reach their breaking point, and the clash of “timeslingers” will resound across centuries.

Timeslingers Reviews

Terrific read! The authors handled the time travel mechanics rather well. The heart of the action resided in the Subdivision agents chasing the CLA agents throughout time.

I stopped reading it after 30%, not worth the time.

TIMESLINGERS BY JAY SHERER AND NATHAN SCHECK

(I received a free copy of this book via the authors in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.)

Inception meets Men in Black in this gripping, action-packed debut by Jay Sherer and Nathan Scheck.

Originally published as a twenty part episodic series by the authors on their blog The Story Geeks, the plot of Timeslingers follows the stories of Hector Salazar and Marcus Kline, two men bent on changing the future by altering the past.

Marcus Kline is a rouge timeslinger who works for the Xi'an Liberation Society (XLS), a rebellious underground organization that lies within the heart of the Union government the two men live under, whose radicalized ways border on terrorism.

Hector Salazar is a Union officer, an elite time-traveler charged with protecting the secrets of the past. When it is revealed that Marcus has uncovered a catastrophic Union secret---a secret that involves Hector's long-lost sister---Hector is enlisted into the Union Subdivision in an attempt to fix the tattered mess Marcus leaves behind. But as the plot thickens and the secrets that are revealed become more and more dangerous, the men realize the true consequences of why one should never mess with time.

Overall a fast-paced, engaging read that hooks you in and keeps you guessing until almost the very end, Timeslingers by Jay Sherer and Nathan Scheck is a riveting adventure that will surely go down as a hallmark of the science fiction genre.

When will I learn? Ads for this book kept turning up in my Facebook feed, and like a fool, I bought it. (Granted, I didn't spend much.) The ads are really exciting--about a band of government time-travelers from the future who have to journey back to save JFK and one of the Apollo moon missions. It read a lot like some of the fiction some of my high school boys used to write--full of exciting action, but absolutely no character development. I didn't care one hoot about any of these characters. Heck, I wouldn't have finished reading this if it hadn't been so short--even then it took me more than a week because it was such a chore. Note to self: no more books that are advertised on Facebook. Unless it's Stephen King. Or Fanny Flagg.

A fast-paced, action-packed adventure! This is a fun, easy read for any sci-fi fan or anyone who just wants to be entertained. I enjoyed the serialized method of storytelling because it broke up the book into quick, digestible chunks. This makes it a perfect read for vacation, travel, or whenever boredom strikes. As a huge bonus, there are imaginative, stylized illustrations at the start of every chapter, setting the tone and sparking curiosity. If you enjoyed Back to the Future, Borne Identity, or Mission: Impossible, you need to get this book!

Interesting time travel story with an ambiguous ending

Time travel stories are an interesting problem from the writing standpoint. The Union and The XLS are fighting across time. The XLS wants to continue their goals, the union wants to stop them.

The end is why I gave it 3 stars. It's possible that the 3nd rendered the entire story moot. There wasn't enough info on what happens in a time change, or how it a really affects the future.

This is a decent "time cop" style novel. It's pretty fast paced with a lot of action. It was a fun and quick read.

The only real gripe I have is that I would have liked to have even a little bit of explanation about who the XLS are and why they want to do the things they are doing.

Worth the read, but don't expect much depth.

Fragmented. Convoluted. Disjointed. No character development. Poorly written. I gave it a fair chance. Read half the book. Done. Glad I only paid $.99 for it.

    Just an action plot...

With no characters worth rooting for. I didn’t understand why the bad team was doing what they were doing. Had to really press myself to finish the book.
