The epic finale to this hit series!

Acius, the darkest fallen angel in the world, knows what I am. And he wants me-to be his queen, to be his puppet. He'll stop at nothing, which leaves me with only one choice.

Kill him.

Normally, my prey run from me. But he's the hunter too. When he delivers word of his plan to destroy Magic's Bend with an enormous serpent, it's obviously a trap meant to ensnare me.

But I have no choice. To save my town, I must skirt the edge of death. I must outrun him and outwit him, or we will all lose-our homes, our lives. Everything.

Dragon Rising is a fast-paced urban fantasy adventure starring a kick butt heroine, a powerful hero, and whole lot of humor.

    Four and a half
Well sadly this book marks the end of our time spent primarily with Aeri but it's not the last we will see of her. Aeri knows that her secret has been rumbled by the fallen angel Acius but she has no idea the lengths he is prepared to go to control her and make her his queen. Acius will kill everyone he has to in order to possess Aeri with her ability to create magic but he didn't quite realise just how brave and cunning Aeri really is.
I adore the way this author combines history, mythology and fast paced entertainment and this story certainly had all of that going on. I thought it was very interesting to feature not one but two fallen angels although obviously my heart was always with Declan who will do anything to protect Aeri . Trouble is Aeri really can take care of herself and I absolutely loved that he was man enough to step back and trust her to get the job done.
This riotous ride has enough historical events peppered throughout it to excite any paranormal lover and once again I found myself reaching for my laptop as I researched the events that have clearly provided inspiration. The action is nonstop, the romance is swoon worthy, the gangs all here but as we still have sister Mari waiting in the wings I am left waiting for more. I'm sure though that the sisters early years and the comeuppance that's well overdue to those who abused them is getting ever closer. Plus I'm pretty sure this author is busily researching and typing away already and I for one cannot wait.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

“Dragon Rising” is the final book in Dragon’s Gift series. Honestly, I had the same problem with this book that I had with the previous one. Too much action and not enough relationships. I found myself bored and losing interest in battle scene after battle scene to the point that I wanted to just flip the pages without reading them. It was, ‘been there done that too many times.’

“Too much action” is a strange comment to make when most books need more; but, in this case this read as well as the others lacked balance. We never learned about the backdrop: Aeri and Mari’s parents or their Aunt and Uncle. We know little of their friends and even Aeri’s relationship with her sister is without real substance. I found myself distancing myself from these characters emotionally because there just wasn’t enough relationship building or socialization scenes. Yes, the sisters have lived in a shroud of secrecy but enough is enough.

Quite honestly, I will not be going on to Mari’s book because I have had enough of this world. Until Ms. Hall enhances her writing style I am through. Decide for yourself.

Yet again, we are at the conclusion to a story arc from this prolific author. I have quite enjoyed Aeri’s journey, and of course I’m sad to see it go. This one had some steampunk elements which I quite enjoyed. Generally, it’s not my favorite, but I love how it fit into the story. Maybe the author should write a steampunk story? Anyway, this was a fitting conclusion filled with adventure, fun, romance, and great story telling! If you have loved the story so far, you will love this series-ender. I am looking forward to Mari’s story! Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Actually 2.5 stars. Slightly better than the previous books, but still sucked and absolutely predictable

Aeri was about to have a date with Dechlan when suddenly the red alarm blared and Agatha took them to the demon slayer's council. Their seer said that in three days, Acius would wake the Great Serpent and destroy Magic's Bend, and the only thing that can defeat it was thunderbird. He also sent a message to both of them saying that if they didn't give themselves up to him three days, he would do just that. He needed the Gems of Katiana in order to do that and there are three stones, darkness, light, and destiny. It seemed that he already had the stone of darkness and two more are hard to find so they asked Aethelred to find it. He said the light stone are somewhere in Syria while the other somewhere in North Sea so Aeri and Dechlan went to Syria while Mari and Cass would find the other.

They visited Dechlan's friend in Syria and he told them that there are a castle from the crusade era where the stone might be and he sold them a bike to go there. Of course the journey was dangerous and full of explosions but they arrived safely and the place was full of ghosts. As usual, the author created another species of ghost where the ghosts couldn't see them except Aeri used her power to see them, then they could see her only. They found a servant girl, asked for direction, met with a super powerful woman who guard the entrance to the tunnel, deceived her (she was religious so when Dechlan tapped his angel persona, she fell to her knees), then met with another guardian, this time a cat statue with three head named Baphomet.

He gave them a test to prove themselves worthy, of course they passed, but at that time, they heard a blast and of course it was Acius, exploding their way in. They rushed through the tunnel, found a room full of skeletons holding up the ceiling and asking for a help, so they made pillars made of boulders so they could escape. Grateful, they showed them shortcuts and just arrived to the room where the stone was in when Acius arrived too. Some battles, Dechlan managed to get the stone but Acius threw a potion at Aeri that compelled her to be his slave. Dechlan swooped in to save her but she stole the stone and threw it at Acius. Acius tried to kidnap her too and Aeri was struggling to get back to her master but Dechlan managed to take her away.

He called for Mari, who immediately called and made a counter spell for her but if she caught the potion again, she wouldn't be able to fight it. They were about to rest when Aeri tried to manipulate her nullifying power so the potion wouldn't affect her, but it didn't work so they slept. The next morning, Aeri decided to create new magic that gave her iron skin, so no potion thrown at her would affect her and Mari went with her. Then they went to the Protectorate, who gave them a map that would show them places with strange magic in the North Sea. With Cass's help, they found the right place, a seemingly abandoned oil rig.

They solved some puzzled, which open a door to a strange city, kind of like London 150 years ago but full of crazy contraptions and machinery. They went to a pub, asked around for someone who knew where the stone was, and Aeri charmed an old guy who was a councilor told them that the stone would be in a place called Academy of the Arcane and they needed to find a guy named Sam who would have the only carriage that could enter the Academy. They found Sam, who was kind of frozen so after some threatening, he agreed to take them to the academy. They sneaked in, as usual, faced some guards, and found the cave where the stone was held, guarded by a giant machine in a shape of an octopus. They disarmed the octopus, stole the stone, and managed to go out only to find Acius.

Cass called for the helicopter and Aeri told Dechlan to escape away only for him to be attacked by demons and got almost drown in the ocean. The demons got the stone, Aeri retrieved Dechland and they were about to enter the helicopter when she Acius appeared out of nowhere and kidnapped her. She woke up and he tried to give her the potion again, but it didn't work. He was mad so he just left her, Wally came to the rescue, and she found a guard, interrogated him where Acius would summon the snake (it would be nearby, because inside the city is protected by the Protectorate's barrier), and killed him.

She called for Mari, who retrieved her and they all prepared for battle. Thanks to Aeri's info, they found Acius, but he already done with the spell and the giant snake woke up. Aeri decided she needed to transform into her full dragon blood's form (which was a thunderbird, wtf?! she was supposed to be thunderbird blood then.) She easily chomped on Acius then defeated the serpent as well, and then the battle was done. Again, with zero casualties. then they celebrated.

The usual adventure and action angles are as good as always. There are plenty of cinematic fights using all sorts of powers and weapons. There are trials and traps. (For some reason, every single powerful being they deal with demands that they pass some sort of trial, which does eventually feel a bit contrived.) There’s a very blatant video-game-type puzzle that the group has to solve–there’s a door with gears on it, and the gears have to be connected correctly so that they’ll operate.

There’s a potion that Acius uses on Aeri that makes her slavishly devoted to him and just, ugh. I could have done without that–she’s a strong female character and the only reason this didn’t annoy me more is that it doesn’t last for too long. Also, it doesn’t 100 percent overpower her own thoughts.

I was a little disappointed with the steampunk town where the group has to find one of the gems. Sure, it’s neat, but it’s used strictly as a set of obstacles to overcome. We never really get to explore it as an actual town with interesting people and a remarkable way of life. All of that is relegated to a few details here and there.

This isn’t my favorite of the Dragon’s Gift books, but it’s still good. I enjoyed reading about Aeri and Declan’s relationship, and as always I love the action and adventure.

Reasons to read this book, the Dragon's Gift Series, and all of Linsey's books, in general:

    1. There are delicious and accurate descriptions of food. Seriously, I want to make me some cornish pasties. And some kofta kebabs (shout out to the shadow guild series!)
    2. The vivid descriptions of historical sites are excellent! Not too vague, not too verbose like a history book; they're just right.Think the goldilocks zone of historical monument descriptions and mythology. Solid A+
    3. Her stories support strong female characters who are supported, but not overshawdowed, by their males counterparts.

LOVE ME SOME BLOOD SORCERERS, MMM! What an epic conclusion to Aerdeca's series. When she transforms into her final power, shall we say (don't want to give away spoliers), she is totally. Badass. I was jumping up and down for her, and LOVE what Linsey chose as Aerdeca's final power. Epic conclusion, HEA...gave me all the feels. Well done, Linsey!

Excitement and Suspense, WARNING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

if you're looking for a great series ,this one is so perfect. It has so much excitement, magic and action and suspense in the town of Magic Bend anything is possible when so many have something to hide. But in the Town of Magic Bend. The bad guys best stay away. Because, two Blood Sorceress, sisters, Aerdeca and Mordaca are two that won't go down without a fight and there is a big bad being brought to take Magic Bend for himself and his minions. But, he underestimates Aerdeca, and her will to fight him, After all ,she is just a blood sorceress with a few powerful friends ,right? Or is she? One thing is for sure, Aerdeca will stop him even if it means her life as well. Fantastic, good verses evil, with a little romance , suspense, action ,magic and a fiesty heroin who will surprise you as she fights for her City and all the people, you will not want to put this book down.

The Climactic Finale of the Dragon's Gift: Sorceress Series

This is book 4, the conclusion that melts the Ice Queen while threatening her entire town ad all of it's inhabitants. This is Aeri's story, Aerdoca to all but her sister Meri, Mordoca to everyone else.

    Aeri and Declan-Magical

Linsey Hall treats us to the last story in the Dragon’s Gift: The Sorceress series Book 4. In Dragon Rising, with the challenge to keep her home safe, our white sorceress is led into digging deep within herself, for unimaginable magic AND the love she has denied for a certain fallen angel.

Linsey continues to build a world that challenges her strong female characters and the amazing partners who appreciate and support them.

We anxiously await each component in Linsey’s writings because each and every one brings new and fantastic challenges and action to them. A prolific, (which is greatly appreciated) and creative author, Linsey ties archeological components to her books, that add a depth to the mysteries we watch being solved.

These books would make a fabulous movie or television series!

I can't believe this part of the series is finally over! I savoured this book and read it slowly (in large part to having a 2 year running rampant and wanting to do things and only having rare moments to read but whatever, worth it). Aeri faces her greatest battle to date as she races to save Magic Bend, and the world, as well as keeping herself away from a maniac fallen angel who wants to control her. As with all of Linsey's books we get to see the wide cast of fascinating and amazing characters, watch a beautiful love evolve, and of course experience epic battles - what more could you want?!

The fourth and final book in this series and it takes the finale to another level. With the dark fallen angel Acius, wanting to detroy Magic Bend, and Aeri to be his pawn – so the group will have to go big – or lose everything. This is a fantastic finale, the action is non-stop – sprinkled with humor and Declan and Aeri finally acknowledge their feelings to each other. This is a fitting conclusion to this series and I clung to the pages. Even though Aeri’s series is completed in this set, Mari’s story will continue on and I’m looking forward to staying in this world the author built a little bit longer.

    Overcoming fear

Aerdaca, Mari and Declan are running out of time. They have 3 days to find the gems that Acius plans to use to raise the Giant Serpent and destroy Magic Bend.
Aerdaca has to learn to control her magic signatures or she may be exposed as a Dragon Blood.
The race is on to find the gems and stop Acius from destroying everything that Aerdaca holds dear. If they can’t stop Acius the only other thing able to destroy the Serpent is a Thunderbird.
    Heartstopping, non stop action awaits.

I mean, it’s only the end of the world... again.

Had a lot if fun reading this series. A great premise, a lot of action and a fast paced plot. Fun characters who overcome whatever is thrown in their path, plus a sweet relationship between Aeri and Declan (who started out as opponents). And then there’s Wally. He might be one of my favourite characters, although you don’t see a whole lot of him in the series.

If you love Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, or Nalini Singh, then you might enjoy this series.

    4 stars 🌟

    Triumph!

This book begins with action, ends with action and is full of action in between, plus some adventure thrown in for good measure. I really liked the steampunk town. Ms. Hall has great imagination and the talent to describe what she imagines, so I felt like a visitor to this strange and wonderful place. Aeri’s character develops quite a bit in this book and it is hard to still see her as the ice queen, but in her dealings with Acius she definitely shows that side of herself. Still, the ending shows that she has melted quite a bit.

  • Margaret

Awesome and epic finally of Aerdeca’s story. Declan is a fallen angel that cares greatly for Ari and she has to use her powers to somehow save her town, Magic Bend. The characters are outstanding and so is the story. I enjoy seeing all the other characters from Magic Bend come to Aerdeca’s aid. The plot is entertaining with all types of demons. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Hall.

Wow! What an adventure! This series was/is amazing. I loved all of it. Aerdeca, or Aeri as she's known to her dearest ones, is totally badass. And so smart and brave. The romance between her and Declan is sweet and powerful. I can hardly wait to read Mari's story. On the other hand, I'm afraid the saga of the magical's in Magic's Bend will end and that will be a day of sorrow. Maybe Linsey Hall will write a few more books about Claire and Connor. They might be good for say 8 more?

    White One Done

I’ve enjoyed and read all Lindsay’s books... Dragon Gods, Fire Souls, now Dragon Bloods. Was so happy that Aeri got her story, and her HEA... sorta felt like Acius needed an intervention from the council before he made it to this book, but now I can’t wait to read Mari’s story... and see what happens, if anything, when their supposed “aunt and uncle” realize who and where the ladies are! 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • Heidi Horak

    Another awesome book!

An amazing ending to an amazing series! I love all Linsey Hall's books and this was no exception. I loved how grown up this book was. I felt a lot of passion and love between Declan and Aeri this time around. I really loved the feminist remarks as well! 👏 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  • Jolene Hamm

    Good book fast ending

Hall’s books are great. I love every one of them. The ending for this book was a little fast and a little predictable. It was a very good book and a nice ending to a good series. I am assuming the next series will be about this main character’s sister and I can’t wait to see how that story evolves

  • Rhonda Taylor

    Great

My favorite part about Linsey's books are the historical references and the explanations after in the author's notes. This time you will learn about a frozen man, a three headed cat and a templar castle. Sometimes you get history, sometimes you get pure imagination which make for a wild ride.

  • Ellie Scothern

    Awesome!

As always with Linsey's books the story of Aerdeca was brilliant, full of demons, magic, magical mayhem and with romance sneaking up on her its a surprise she doesn't see coming, even though we do, it's light entertainment that all great readers need and I for one have read and enjoyed every single one of Linsey's books and eagerly await Mordeca's stories.

Great ending to a great mini series

Great book! Loved it so much i had to read from page one to the end!!! I am looking forward to Maris series and am dying to find out who her mystical bad ass sole mate will be!!!
