Living a plain life isn’t simple
This story tugged at my heartstrings from the very first page. One Amish man who regrets his past, one woman who doesn’t think a family is in her future and an Englisher girl who’d lost her mom. Three very different people, all struggling with their own insecurities and what life throws at them.
The Nanny’s Amish Family is a well written story full of faith, love and hope. And I couldn’t put it down.
The characters are lovable. The have their flaws but they learn and grow and own up to their mistakes. Besides, there are no such things as mistakes, only valuable lessons and happy accidents.

The Nanny’s Amish Family will tug on your heartstrings as well as remind readers what you sow you will reap. Thomas Wiebe’s life hadn’t been easy during his teen years but he was committed to his Amish lifestyle. A social worker bringing his Englisher daughter to him presented new challenges. Asking Patricia Flaud to assist with her care in a household of all men beside of his elderly Mammi presented a solution. The pain of the past had to be confronted and learning to forgive as God instructed had to found. I appreciated the insight Patricia’s host family gave her on love and marriage. A sweet and quick read found in this LI Amish fiction.

The Nanny's Amish Family is a wonderful story written by Patricia Johns in her Redemption's Amish Legacies series. This first book is an amazing story to start out a new series. The characters are very likeable and realistic. The author has done an outstanding job telling her story thru her characters. I enjoyed the storyline very much.
Patience has come to Redemption to be a school teacher. After being devastated because of a failed attempt at marriage because she is unable to have children. She lets being a teacher be her focus to avoid heartbreak again. When Patience is asked to help an Amish man bring his English daughter into accepting her new life she finds herself falling in love with Thomas. When she explains to him why they couldn't be more than friends they try to ignore their feelings. The tension of raising an English girl in an Amish family brings many difficulties but Patience is up for the job and always positive about it even knowing there will be nothing between her and Thomas. Will Patience and Thomas be able to get little Rue to adjust? What does this mean for Patience and Thomas. This story is so full of emtions and really tugs at the heartstrings. Forgiveness is always good but will Thomas receive that for his transgressions from his Amish community?
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. All opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Congratulations to Patricia Johns for writing another truly inspiring story for her readers enjoyed that involves love, faith, forgiveness, and especially family. -
The Nanny’s Amish Family by Patricia Jones is a Christian fiction Amish romance.
The book cover is so attractive.
I am so glad to read another Amish tale from my new favourite author, Patricia Johns.
Such a sweet novel. I love Rue so much. I fell in love with her personality and her sweet kind heart. I share her love for that ratty rooster. I have a little chick like that. I already told my family not to ever kill that brownish red little chick. So I totally understand her love for the rooster, Toby.
Patience and Thomas are two awesome characters. I really felt for them. I got emotional at a chapter over their love declarations.
I read this novel in one sitting. This is a book I would love to read over and again. I wish I can rate this book 50 stars. Such a beautiful story with touches of reality in it. I could empathize on a human level with the book characters.
Patricia Johns, you have won a place in my book heart for writing sweet, cozy, and emotional stories.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are mine. -
What a wonderful story! I fell in love with Rue, Thomas and Patient right away. It's an emotional book, crying, sad, mad and of course love. This is a great start to a series. You did an excellent job Patricia Johns.

Loved this book, great story, great characters, Could not put this book down.

As I was reading this book, it occurred to me how very different it is for the adjustment a small child has to make when losing a parent in death or divorce. I’ve been through this with friends that have grandchildren that are so confused and rebellious. The author did a great job of describing this heartache. Then add a bunch of cruel gossip and speculation and you have tender feelings that are rubbed raw because of accusations and cruel teasing and criticism from people who just don’t get it. I enjoyed the honesty in this book. And a reminder that we serve an awesome God! Our identity is in Christ, not in others opinions of us. We love, we forgive and we live to bring Him glory!

Families are made with love
An orphaned little English girl comes to live with her Thomas, Amish dad and shows a whole community what unconditional love is made of. It takes an Amish schoolteacher to open the heart of the Amish dad and help him see what families are made of.
My heart hurt a lot while reading this book. After recently losing my dad I felt for Rue. Sometimes you just want to act out because you don’t know how to release that grief.
I have not looked further into the series but I’m hoping there is a book on Noah the brother of Thomas. -
This is an absolutely heartwarming, beautiful book. I love Amish fiction because the simple ways and plain appearance of the people are a stark contrast to the profound depth of their faith and of their love, and this story was no exception.
Examining what is truly important in a family and reinforcing the belief that God's plan is a perfect one, Johns has crafted a sweet and sincere tale of forgiveness, acceptance, and love. This is an easy (but emotional!) read that will appeal to fans of Amish fiction, obviously, but also to any reader who loves sweet romance or befuddled single dads (as well as any reader who has spent time around children, or has ever thought that maybe-- just maybe-- a mean rooster just needed a hug. And here I thought I was the only one who ever believed that as a child!!) -
I received a copy of this book from the author. Thank you!
This book is amazing! Patricias’ books never disappoint.
This is a book set in the Amish community, with a non typical family setting. I fell in love with Thomas, Patience and Rue. Thomas was a single father that had to try to raise a daughter born out of the Amish community. Patience was hired to be a school teacher and helped Thomas out with Rue.
Rue is such a sweet little girl, she reminds me of the preschoolers I work with.
Excellent Read, I could not put it down! -
I received this book from the author, thank you!

Patricia Johns does it again. As soon as I started reading her new book I felt at home, like I knew the characters already. I especially loved the way Rue loved Toby the rooster "he's family daddy and we don't eat family". This book will make you fall in love with love again, I hated to finish it!
I give this book 10 stars!! -
a really sweet story of a teacher

The Nanny's Amish Family is the first book in the Redemption's Amish Legacy series.
Two things I liked about this story.
First, the story is centered around a little girl who has lost her Englisher mother and now meets her Amish father for the first time. I liked that the storyline does not shift the focus off of little Rue, but continues with her in the center throughout Patience and Thomas's growing relationship and the sudden reappearance of Thomas's ex-Amish mother.
Second, the conclusion of the story: Thomas realizes that in order for her daughter to have a meaningful life, he does not need to offer her a perfect Amish family. "Perhaps his daughter needed to see their family just as it was, complete with imperfections, hurts, hopes, and devotion." Theirs may not look like a traditional, highly sought-after Amish family situation, but God does not make mistakes. Patience who cannot have children, will still have a family of her own "maybe not the most traditional in appearance, but purposefully pieced together by Gott's own hand. And when Gott brought a family together, let no man put it asunder."
One more thing, I do think the title should have been The Teacher's Amish Family. Patience is the new school teacher in the community; nobody, including herself, sees her as a nanny.
This is a sweet, clean read with a valuable message. -
A beautiful story of love and loss and finding direction in a Godly life
Oh this book - phew. It’s one that grabs you by the throat and does not let go of your heart until the final sentence. This is the story of Patience, an Amish woman who cannot have children who’s trying to dedicate her life to service despite her sadness. Thomas an Amish man who had a rebellious rumspringa that resulted in a child he has not seen and who’s been living godly life since. And Rue the 4 year old Englisher child whose mother has died and she is now living with an Amish father she had never met. The feelings for all of the MCs were palpable as their worlds collide and they try to fit the pieces together and make sense of the upheaval and find a god directed path forward. This was a beautiful story of love and loss and finding direction in a godly life. -
I loved this story
I loved this story from start to finish! It keeps you guessing and is well written ! This is the kind of true love God intends ..This Author was new to me but now she is my favorite Author, I have read many of her books in last weeks. I love a long read . I do not think anyone will be sorry that reads this story. -
The lack of compassion for a grieving child was astounding. Yet the women were not called out for their unChristian behaviour. It was baffling that the social worker just dropped off the child and washed her hands. Clearly her mental health wasn't considered.
I found myself fuming for most of the story. -
This is the 2nd book I read by Patricia Johns. I loved ❤ the book's storyline. I loved ❤ the Christian theme in this story. I loved ❤ Patience's character. I loved ❤ Thomas's character. I loved ❤ Rue. My heart broke 💔 for Rue. I loved ❤ the ending. Awesome job. Ms. Johns.

the nanny’s Amish family
I recommend this first book in the series. With wonderful characters and thinking how it would be for a child to be raised Amish after being in the world. Pick this book up you will love it!
