I’m sold on this one.
This is a very enjoyable read. The characters were both enviable and pitiable whether they be rich or poor. I loved the developing relationship between Oliver and Diana. Also, I have a greatfull appreciation for their friends Roger and Wilma. I even loved the dastardly Lord Haskell and I’m glad he got what he deserved. The setting of the lighthouse and cottage was very cozy and heartwarming. And the sea! I grew up by the sea on the west coast and walked there throughout most of my summers growing up. This setting brought back many memories. I loved the epilogue and the wonderful HEA that I’m sure others who have read this book would appreciate. The extended epilogue gave the reader even more closure leaving a smile on my face. I could easily recommend reading this book, although you will need to be willing to overlook some proofreading and editorial errors, but the story itself is what had me sold. -
Diana Douglass is daughter of Earl of Winthrop, who has just "arranged" to a very despicable gentleman, Lord Marshall. Before the marriage takes place, Diana runs away. She is woefully unprepared for life on her own. She ends up getting a job at a lighthouse that I being ran by Oliver Evans.
Oliver Evans is the son of the Duke of Meriwood. Oliver left his home and privileged life two years earlier after finding out that his father is planning to sell the estate that belonged to his late mother to pay the bills for his spendthrift second wife.
The interaction between Diana and Oliver is very interesting given the fact that both of them are hiding their real identity. I really enjoyed reading about how their relationship evolved.
I received a ARC of this ebook to read and give an honest review. I'm addition, I purchased a digital copy of the book from Amazon when it became available. -
Two Hearts running from their societal duties find find each other
A noble Lady being forced to marry a Lord by her father looking to help his financial distress. Little does he know that the Lord is in dire straits himself. A Duke being forced into the family business when all he wants is to be an author. Both leave their titles behind to find solace at a lighthouse.
The story evolves around Diana and Oliver getting to know each other as she works for him as a housemaid. Mrs Fletcher, his
cook/housekeeper, teaches her as she had never done either before.
In the meantime, as they start to grow closer, her father hires a private detective to find her. Will they find her? What will Oliver do if he finds she is gone?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The descriptions were so good I could picture the scenes in my mind. There is also an extended epilogue to round out the story. I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review. -
Diana's father is forcing her to marry his partner who is not a good person. Her only hope is to escape. So, she runs away during the night. She takes odd jobs along the way to pay for her trip when her money is stolen. She ends up being taken in by the housekeeper of the man who is the lighthouse keeper.
Oliver has also run away from his title. He wants to write novels and finds he can do that is this quiet setting. Neither one tells the other of their situation.
Their pasts finally catch up with them and they have to make decisions.
Read this story if you want a good book to read. I recommend it to all who like good clean reading. -

Full of hurdles, twists and love!
Ayles is one of those authors who consistently delivers clean, sweet and enjoyable HEAs for her readers. A few household figure into the plot but it's easy to empathize with young ladies being forced to marry, sons despairing of a greedy stepmother, head strong father's and corrupt lords. With all this in the stew you can only pray friends are duped to foil lovers' plans. I can recommend this book for any age. Thanks Abby for another great book! -
A Clean & Sweet Regency Historical Romance that is well written with a very good storyline the story flows smoothly from page to page. This is Diana Douglass, daughter of the Earl of Winthrop and Oliver Evans, son of the Duke of Meriwood and a lighthouse keeper's story. A wonderful tale full of joy
Two people, Diana and Oliver leave their homes and family. Diana fled during the night in order to not have to marry the man her father had chosen. Oliver left due to the way his father was heading into financial ruin. He ends up as a lighthouse keeper on the coast. Diana ends up at the lighthouse as a maid. The story with the added epilogue turns out happy ever after
Could not leave this story. Thanks to the Author. -
I loved this story. Although it started off slow with a little scare element, the story of Oliver & Diana is a cozy romance, until the big bad wolf shows up. It takes Oliver's secret life to save Diana and Oliver's love and willingness to do so. The villain in this story is a reflection of the evils of greed & lechery, and it is so easy to hate him. This story is written in the true sense of a fairy tale.

Deplorable
Not only do I hate EXTENDED EPILOGUES, I despise unresearched material!! I remember why I stopped reading Ms. Ayles work. She has no regard for the way England's hierarchy and their honorific titles. A Duke would totally shun someone who called him Lord or m'lord. I didn't finish due to this. Good story ideas, give this to a writer and it would be great. -
A sweet period romance
The Lady of the Lighthouse is a sweet romance about two people hiding from their pasts and the lighthouse that brings them together. The story is engaging and keeps the reader well entertained from start to finish. -
A great story that captured your attention
Delightful story. Loved the independence of the characters and their individual natures. Loved the heartbreak, the suspense, and the finding of true happiness. A great read. Was hard to put it down. -
Such a sweet book with a twist
I loved this book it has romance and intrigue . It was hard to put down. The only bad thing was at the end of the book I was supposed to click on the book or the link and get an extended prologue. It didn't work sigh.
