Contractor Halden Kuckleman, loves his quiet life. After a childhood trauma, Hal gave up on love and God. When hired by the church to finish work on a new meeting room, he tells himself it’s just a job like any other. He’s fine working on the addition as long as Reverend Sharp doesn’t try to save him.
With a tight deadline for getting the room finished, Hal begins to wonder how he’s going to get the work done before the annual Christmas Eve party. When Casey offers to lend a hand however, he begins to wonder if the willowy minister will help or lead him straight into temptation.
Cattle Valley Mistletoe (Cattle Valley, #2) Reviews

A little cheesier than the first. But I liked the different take on the religious views of sexuality and homosexuality especially with preachers. It was a nice change. Still sort of B movie porn in book form though lol.
-
I must be in the mood for easy, sweet love stories. I liked this book! I liked the Reverend Casey. He was genuinely a good man. I thought that he and Holden's story was enjoyable, very sexy and easy to read. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

An different pairing; the pastor and the construction man !
An unusual, bold, coupling.
The new Pastor, Casey, is a good looking gay man.
He needs to hire someone to do the renovation to be done by Christmas.
Halden/Hal, is tall, wide, muscled,
and wears a black cowboy hat, plus, he’s the new construction expert Casey needs.
Hal can’t tolerate God and church, but it stems from his past. He’ll do the job because it’s winter and this job will keep him busy and paid during this season.
Casey and Hal are attracted and have nearly insta-love.
After a hot event, they pull back and proceed with the work. We get deep thoughts, a past revealed, a community waking up, some trips to the hospital, a fire, and decisions.
The story moves along, and we see Hal being a wonderful, tender, protective caring man. We do then get the sexy times we like.
A proof-reader should have found the spots of missing words.
It’s an unusual tale with a twist, with an HEA.
Enjoy !

Buona lettura. -
Book 2
Opposites attract in this second book of Cattle Valley. Casey, the new reverend falls for the god-hating contractor, Hal. Christmas miracle? Cute, more story than book 1, but still copious time between the sheets.

After second book in Cattle Valley series that I read (I first read #3), I should be prepared that this is sort of the happy-all-around soap opera kind of story. Again, it's too sugary sweet for my taste and the fact that the two of them fall in love with minimum interaction just makes me roll my eyes -

What can I say, I love Carol Lynne's laid back writing style and sometimes I just need a happy all around feel good story... which Ms. Lynne always provides! :D

Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.
Casey Sharp was full of enthusiasm and hope when he accepted the job of Reverend for the Cattle Valley community but with a large to-do list and much to plan for before Christmas, its an exhausting one, as well. When the contractor he hired to build an expansion onto the back of the church has to bow out of the job unexpectedly, Casey’s desperate to hire a replacement and that desperation leads him to calling Halden Kuckleman. Halden hasn’t been in touch with God in a very long time so taking a job at the church isn’t really something he wants to do; one look at the new Reverend, however, and Hal can’t turn away. With his feelings about religion and his determination to keep Casey at arms length, however, it may take a lot more than the holiday spirit to make Hal give love a chance. It’ll take a large dose of forgiveness, too.
This book…hit a little closer to home than I expected it to and while my situation and Hal’s weren’t the same, they were similar enough that I completely understood where Hal was coming from in his feelings about religion and God. I tend to stay away from books dealing with religion for that very reason as I don’t enjoy them and oftentimes find them uncomfortable to read. That being said, I’m really glad I decided to give this book a try. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and, not one to read books out of order if I can help it, I picked this one up to continue that trend but to also, hopefully, enjoy it as much as the previous installment.
While the description of the book made me think the religious aspect would be pretty stand out throughout the story, I found it less prevalent than I anticipated. It is there, with a main character who’s a Reverend that’s a given, but religion wasn’t really the focus of the story, healing and forgiveness were; not only for the main characters but for the Cattle Valley community as a whole. Even though Hal didn’t want anything to do with God, it was nice seeing him want Casey enough to give being together a try. I also just adored how Hal went about trying to make things right for Casey and how, even though he didn’t really understand the religious side of him, Hal wanted to bring the church congregation together to help the man he cared for in time for Christmas.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one and I’m glad I decided to read it. I loved the healing and forgiveness that took place amongst the entire community and how religion and the church was more a way to kick start that process rather than the focus itself. The characters were enjoyable and it was nice catching up with some of my favorites from the last book. There were some sexy times included in the story, as well, but it wasn’t right away and with all Hal and Casey were dealing with, I felt that was completely appropriate and appreciated. This was a nice story to add to my holiday collection as I was left with a smile and some good feels when I’d finished. While not absolutely necessary to read the first book before this one, I’d recommend it not only for the context it gives to the situation Casey finds himself in, but because it was a good read, too. If you enjoy a nice holiday read that’s low on angst but not over the top with in your face Christmas items and activities, this could be something you’ll enjoy.

Yep, I've gotta re-read the whole series, it's been a whole year since I'd first read these!
I loved Hal and Casey, I love that religion was a main focus but it wasn't what you thought it would be. Not how normal people view religious belief's. Casey, not only a leader of a church but also a gay man, I loved how they knew there was nothing wrong with it and it wasn't even in question. I thought for sure it'd be a huge problem and it wasn't one at all.
I loved that.
Hal had problems with his faith from a childhood trama and the miscommunication of a church leader and I can't say I blame him for the way he felt. I'm so so glad that meeting Casey and loving Casey changed him in that though.
I love Cattle Valley and all it's residents and I'm excited to be re-reading them! -
This was typical for Cattle Valley...insta love morphing into HEA within days...contrived angst... sophomoric communication break downs and soppy make up sex...add in a dash of mistletoe and you have the Christmas chapter of the Cattle Valley soap opera...an easy undemanding read if you don't mind two dimensional characters and a weak plot.

Cattle Valley Mistletoe (Cattle Valley, #2) by Carol Lynne
This is the second book in the Cattle Valley series, I loved Casey and Hal.
Great read, and can't wait to continue reading the rest of the books in this series. -
Sweet, maybe just a bit too much insta-love, but a nice enjoyable story.

Cute and sweet and just what i wanted to read

Doch Casey braucht Hilfe. Dringend.
Meine Meinung dazu gibt’s hier -
Cattle Valley Mistletoe, the second book in Carol Lynne's Cattle Valley series is spectacular!
The subject matter is unique and executed flawlessly. When Haiden's hired by Casey to work on the church addition, he's hesitant. Let's just say that Haiden's relationship with God is not good and Haiden wants nothing to do with church. Then he spends time with Casey, the reverend, an attraction builds, but Haiden's left confused and frustrated. He certainly can't be in a relationship with someone from the church.
I love this storyline. I love how interesting, realistic and raw it is. And Haiden and Casey? Wow! Do not miss out on this hot and steamy couple! -
Casey and Hal....Hal has lost his faith after his mother died and doesn't want to get involved with Reverend Casey but he still falls pretty fast..As in all these books it's very much insta-love but that's what makes them perfect..Plus you get to know who's next by the end of each book..A great easy read and one of my favourites x

I liked this book more than the first because there's a sense of a beginning. The rate in which the characters fall in love is slightly less than the speed of light, but more than a blink of an eye.
Still, this was enjoyable. -
After a shaky start this is lots of insta-love although it was ok.

Good idea but way too short to be successful, resulting in an unrealistic timeline for the amount of issues in the book.

Cattle Valley Mistletoe is the second book in the ‘Cattle Valley’ series. It’s told in third person from the povs of Reverend Casey Sharp, and Contractor Halden ‘Hal’ Kuckleman.

The review was originally done for the Romance Reviews and can be found here:

Reverend Casey Sharp loves his town and the members of his church in Cattle Valley, but he's sure that they don't feel they same way. He's currently paying for the sins committed by the previous minister, and he's not sure how to make it better. It certainly won't help if he doesn't get the church's addition built in time for the annual Christmas Eve party. He's enlisted the help of sexy contractor Halden Kuckleman to get the building finished, but Hal has made it clear: he's there only for the work. He doesn't do church and he definitely doesn't do God. However, with the two men working side by side in efforts to get the work done, Hal discovers that the man he told not to convert him may be his biggest temptation yet.
This is the second book in the Cattle Valley series, and I really enjoyed it. It was much different in the first as it was sweeter and more romantic then erotic. Don't get me wrong, there were steamy love scenes but the relationship between the characters seems to be more the focus in this one. It's not often that you read a book about an openly gay minister, but I felt that it was done extremely well. The relationship between Casey and Hal seemed to be a bit underdeveloped as far as getting to the love stage, but I loved them as a couple nonetheless. Hal's trouble with church, religion and God was well-written and realistic, and I thought was handled perfectly by the author. This is a part of a series, and I did read the first book, but I don't think that you have to do that in order to enjoy this story. I also really liked that we got to revisit the main characters of the first story to get a glimpse into their life after their story had ended.
It is a short book so the relationship moves very quickly, as stated before, and that is really my only complaint about the book. I wish there could have been even a mention of them having more time together without having to describe it over several pages; I feel it would have made the relationship more realistic. Other than that, I loved it. I can't wait to read more of the series.
