Olivia and Scarlett find themselves trapped in Victorian London without Olivia's compass, which is now in the hands of Jonathan Faraday the leader of the Veritas. Unable to control his visions, Theo is in danger of being handed over to a doctor known as 'the butcher' whose methods of extracting information will leave him dead or severely brain damaged. He knows he only has one choice, escape or die trying.
With Olivia trapped in the past and Theo at the mercy of Faraday, it seems all hope is lost, until a young woman with a very mysterious gift appears and it seems, the worst may still be yet to come...

Well that's it for now. I have enjoyed this series and I'll be checking out more by the author. In this one. I like the twists and turns and how we are finding out more about the Veritas and the magical world. I like the character six and her twist within in the book. This is building up to a big battle and I can't wait. it was nice to get more background on other characters and I wonder when Scarlett will let everyone on in her secret.

Wow!!! Wendy Saunders is an amazing writer.. I have spent the last week binge reading Series 1 and 2… and now I have to wait for the next book… Sins of the father….. noooooooooo!
Olivia West is an amazing heroine. If you love the supernatural, witches, ghosts, The Greek Gods, time travel and history, then this is the series for you! It has an abundance of everything, including humour. Olivia is a sassy young witch who even in the presence of a God - albeit one from the Underworld, lets nothing stand in her way! Her family are all lovely, and you spend sometime trying to figure out who is good and evil, but at the end of the day, this is the ultimate love story of Olivia and Theo! Their love transpires across time. All of this makes for a great story! The only downside is that Sam wasn’t involved so we have been left hanging - but hopefully all will come together by the last book of this series. All in all a blinding series. -
This series is absolutely phenomenal! The world that Wendy envelopes you in is magical and wonderful. There are so many layers to this story it keeps you on the edge of your seat. You laugh, you cry. You feel everything the characters feel. I can't wait for more of this series. Perfection.

I love how this author takes a modern character and puts them into a historical time i.e. 18th century England. I love this series and cannot wait for the next book, shoot even the next series since they are all tied into each other.

Another winner in this brilliant 2nd series following the wonderful magical inhabitants of the city of Mercy, as they continue to fight the evil Veritas members. Marvellous characters in Olivia, Theo, Scarlett & Sam as they try to regroup & get back to their own time from 19th century London. Will they succeed; can Olivia retrieve her magical Compass, will Sam & Theo ever manage to escape Veritas' global evil tentacles? Time travel, the God Hades, demons, witches, magic & powerful forces combine with brilliant story-telling that never fails to grip you from page one - taking you on a brilliant,magical literary journey! Highly recommended & any of Wendy's excellent books.
