Sometimes the past holds your future…
Omega otter shifter Doc loved his adopted son and wanted to protect him from his past. But when the boy’s past flings itself at him in the form of a series of letters, Doc is faced with the heart wrenching decision of either ripping open old wounds or keeping unforgivable secrets from the child.
Rabbit shifter Levi hates his life as Alpha of his Colony. Put there by birthright and held there by his past, he has no choice: If he leaves, they will kill his one true mate. Rabbits were brutal like that.
When the colony is all abuzz with word of a stranger in town, Levi doesn’t expect an otter and he certainly doesn’t expect the man to be the bearer of both the worst and the best news of his life: His mate was gone and he had a son. And he most definitely doesn’t expect to have his rabbit announcing the man as his mate.
Otterly in Love is a sweet with knotty heat M/M shifter mpreg romance featuring an otter shifter looking out for his son, a rabbit shifter who fears he isn’t strong enough to fix the wrongs of his path, an evil sheriff who won’t stay gone, a boy who in some ways has more to teach his fathers then they have to teach him, true fated love, and an adorable little baby. This is the third book in the River's Edge Shifters series brought to you by the co-writing team of Lorelei M. Hart and Aria Grace and can be read as a stand alone.

ok i’m tapping out. it was a wild ride but i’m done.

Cute sweet read! 😁
-
My favorite of the series so far!
Wow... This one was heavy on the "tugging the heartstrings". Cried multiple times and loved it so much. Awesome MCs and a wonderful story! -

A barn full of shifty animals and some furry ones.
Even when you expect plot twists and surprises as the menagerie mixes up the story line with human interest, lions, otters, and puppies taking over the the attention of the family and the town as population growth gives great future to the town. New additions and new jobs and new opportunities at work, school, and home make it a great family life. -
This one has been the least exciting of all three books. I really wanted to know Doc's story, but feel a bit disappointed in it. I feel like the entire book went in fast forward and left too much in the air for my liking. The major plot points were ok, but it needed a lot more in the details.

I think this book was my favorite of the 3 so far.
Levi (rabbit shifter) was given an ultimatum, lead the brood or leave the brood, but if he left his mate would be killed. Morbid right? However, Levi didn’t know that his mate was pregnant with Xander.
Doc (otter shifter), adoptive father of Xander, swore that on Xander’s 13th birthday he’d tell him about the letters his mother left him. Doc decides to track down Xander‘a biological father too. What he didn’t plan was to find his mate... Xander’s biological father...
If you’re looking for a quick, super sweet, HEA romance this book is for you. -
2.75 stars
This one lost a quarter of a star because it’s kind of cookie cutter the same as the first two in the series. The whole getting from the rabbit’s den to otter’s Rivers Edge was convoluted at best. I also was a disappointing by this story because Doc was a character I really, really was looking forward to his story. I loved the mama lion. Here’s the thing by the third book in a series the author should be giving us a lot more world building if we’re going to even remotely attempt a deeper story. Do the humans even know about the shifters? Where the hell do you hide a male pregnant doctor for at least three months when his body should be showing? Or did he hide? -
The reader is introduced to Doc and Xander in the first book. It was nice seeing where Xander came from. As with the others in the series, everything was super rushed but it didn't really take away from it.
Overall, a nice read. I'll read the 4th book when it's released. -

Cute but nothing truly impressive

I was really looking forward to getting to know Doc more and although this was his story it left me wanting more.
The Good, The Bad, and Everything Else: So, about the synopsis.... for the most part it is exactly what this book is about, but that last paragraph isn't quite accurate. The evil sheriff is taken care of in book 2 and although it's been 4 days since I finished this book, I'm pretty sure I am remembering this book correctly. Also, the "adorable little baby"...not sure which baby this is in reference to. I believe August and Jase's baby is in the book and she is adorable, but she isn't in a lot of the scenes as at least half the book takes place at the rabbit Colony and not in River's Edge. There is another baby, but I believe doesn't make an appearance until the very end. One more complaint about the last paragraph of the synopsis and then I'll move on....it says it is the 3rd book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. I'm terrible about reading things in order and my GR friends could attest to this. I often pick something up based on what I get approved at NetGalley. I'll pick something up based on what my library has available at the time. I'll even pick something up based on the shiny cover. However, I really think in order for Doc's story (and Xander's as well) to be fully appreciated the first book in the series should be read before this one, at the very least. Book 2 is almost an independent book within the series as the characters in that story don't make an appearance in book 3 but more about that later.
While I did enjoy this book, I was sad that Leo and Ron (from Feline the Love) weren't in this book. I really liked those characters. Also, I know Doc was older, but I don't recall how much older (I'm actually thinkin it never said) and for some reason this bugged me. I like an age gap romance but like to know what ages I'm working with LOL.
With the background story of Xander being heartbreaking and intense from the first book I was disappointed that part of that story was concluded off page, happening sometime after book 1 ended and book 3 started (but not mentioned in book 2 at all.) I know that is quite vague, but I don't want to include any spoilers for anyone who may want to read the series.
As far as Levi and Doc go, I really wanted more from their story. On one hand it was a really good story, but I think the page count limited the development of a believable love story. As with most fated mate tropes the "I Love You's" happened quickly and in shifter romances sex usually means love. Too bad I'm not a shifter and can't appreciate this type of relationship. Hello insta-love. .
In a Nutshell: I am definitely moving on to book 4 although I'm not sure who will find their true love as there weren't any new shifters introduced except 3 bunny adults (new adult age so not viable for relationship status in my mind), a handful of rabbit Colony asshats (only good for evil mastermind status), and Mama (a widowed lion shifter who played a major role in helping Levi leave the Colony....loved her by the way.) I guess I'll have to wait until I can pick up book #4, Canine Love You after I finish up my current reads. -
Otterly in Love is the third book in the ‘River’s Edge Shifters’ series. It stars omega otter shifter, Doc, and Alpha rabbit shifter Levi. This is told in first person through both Levi and Doc’s pov.
EDITED April 5, 2022: I mention below that this book could be read as a stand-alone. This is NOT true. I had so many questions about Doc and how he ended up with Xander as his son in this story. All those questions are answered in Book One which I am currently reading. I didn't know this because I read this book first. So I'm now clarifying that this book can NOT be read as a stand-alone and the series MUST be read in order. -
3,5*
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey books and
Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class -
Otterly In Love by Lorelei M. Hart and Aria Grace is third book in the River’s Edge Shifters series. This is a sweet shifter mpreg romance that has a very interesting story and wonderful characters. I had alot of feelings reading this. There is a bit of heartbreak, alot of sweetness, and a bit of drama. I loved getting a look into the Rabbit shifters' way of life, and liked how that whole thing ended up playing out. I loved how Levi gets a second chance to a true mate, after his first chance is ripped away from him. These characters are fun. I definitely enjoyed this lovestory.

How my heart broke for Levi when he found out the truth. Doc travels to Alpha rabbit Levi to inform him of his son but trouble ensues when the rabbit clan don't want them him leave. A feisty lion comes up with a clever plan to save the day and get Doc and Levi home to Xander. All troubles were solved pretty quickly and without much angst. Xander and Levi are reunited at last and there isn't any bad feelings between them. Lots of puppies, adorable babies and a brand new sheriff. Really looking forward to more from this series.

This has definitely been the weakest one so far. Not that I really wanted to see Levi torn between marissa and doc, but he seemed to be like lol whatever marissa and just jumped doc. I felt like the whole conflict with the colony was too easily resolved or maybe it needed to be flushed out more. Like the head elder or whatever I feel like would have really stored up more stuff or something. Plus it didn’t feel like Levi and doc had a real connection. It felt super stiff. Also what’s with all the omegas struggling during child birth lately. Leo had issues last book too.
-
This is a quick, sweet and fun story with interesting characters. I like Doc and how much he loves his son as he will do anything he can to make him happy. Levi has been trapped for the last thirteen years and when Doc shows up he finally has a reason to fight to get away. They have a chance to be a family with Xander and some sweet dogs and puppies. I love the secondary characters and the ending is great.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. -
Rating: 3 stars
I thought this book was okay. I usually don’t rag on how realistic a book is but I think the fact that Xander told his father Levi that he loved him after not knowing him for his whole life bothered me a bit. I would have liked it a bit more if there was a bit of an adjustment period between the two of them before the love word was spoken. Overall, the book was okay. I think it would have been better if the author had fleshed out the story a bit more. -
This is a light series to enjoy any time of the day. This is pretty much a typical mpreg mating book. I know what I'm going to get and never regret reading any of the books. It is a sweet story with an easily overthrown antagonist. I can't wait to read the next one in the new year.
This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. -
Excellent
As always another excellent book in the series. I love shifter stories especially the ones the feature unusual shifters away from the usual wolf trope. Great story with a HEA ending. Highly recommended -
At long last
Doc never thought he'd have a family, the he got Xander. When Leo and Ron find the letters to Xander from his Mama, Doc knew he had to protect his son. Going to meet Levi opened up a whole new can of worms. -
This series keeps getting better and better!
I just love Doc. I'm so glad that he found his mate and got to keep Xander. Xander is such a sweetheart and an amazing kid to accept his alpha father like that. I would like more updates on Mama.
