    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
    ARC BOOK REVIEW
    Release Date-7/5/18

So let me just start by saying that this was my first experience of the very talented Tess Thompson. And I really have to say Deleted: Jackson and Maggie, though of a much cleaner read than what I am usually used to, still managed to reel me in and keep my attention throughout this magnificently.
This was such a sweet second-chance story that totally relied on its spoken narrative to hook in and enthral its spectators.
This book had so much more going on, and also to give than just the actual relationship between Jackson and Maggie.
As lovely as that reconnected feeling was, Deleted also Managed to intertwine a much deeper story throughout the pages.
Combining toxic family dynamics alongside friendship, loyalty and trust all set against a stunning small town backdrop.
    Such a winning combination here.
    A definite recipe for success.
So, I really enjoyed getting to know all the many varied individuals portrayed here and though there are definitely some overused cliches in this storyline, I still very much enjoyed Jackson's and Maggie's complicated journey to there own personal HEA.
So yes technically this could be read as a standalone, but personally having read it that way myself I really think you would get much more out of this if you read the first book in the series too.
It would just help contribute in my opinion to the overall understanding of dynamics between certain characters involved here.
I also really liked the way this author has taken the time to set things up here for future story growth, And I'm guessing Zane and Honor are next.
So, This was told in dual POV my favourite and both Jackson and Maggie/Bird are such relatable and likeable people.
And I have to say, for such a charmingly clean romance this still surprisingly satisfied my sweet-tooth.
I do typically like my men a whole lot darker and my romance just more alpha arse-wholery but this, well it made my cheeks hurt smiling.

    https_%2F%2Fmashable.com%2Fwp-content%2Fgallery%2F20-perfect-gifs-to-express-your-love%2Faudrey-hepburn.gif

I didn't care about the cheese or the cliches when my heart was going pitter-patter.
Deleted was just so AW in nature.
If you like a more romantic gentle romance then this is the one for you.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of "Deleted: Jackson and Maggie (Cliffside Bay series #2)" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

    Blurb:
Jackson Waller has loved Maggie Keene since they were six years old, but their dueling dreams ultimately tore them apart. First love—true love—wasn’t enough to overcome their individual desires to pursue dreams on opposite coasts. When Jackson learns of Maggie’s tragic death on her way to college on the east coast, his heartbreak, compounded by grief, renews his focus on his own future. He vows to do nothing but work toward his goal of becoming a doctor, and maybe enjoy the companionship of his new college buddies, The Dogs.

Maggie Keene left Cliffside Bay with two things: a broken heart and her ambition. For twelve years she relentlessly pursues her dream of a musical theater career in New York City, but when she learns her father is dying, she returns home to find the truth about her family’s ugly past. There, she discovers two things that will change everything: one, the bitter old man has spread a wild rumor that she has been dead for over a decade; and two, Doctor Jackson Waller is also back in Cliffside Bay—with his brand-new fiancée.

The second installment of The Cliffside Bay Series by bestselling author Tess Thompson follows the interwoven stories of five best friends, the beach community they love, and the women who captivate them. Prepare to get lost in a wave of small town charm, men you would love to take home to your mother, and smart, resilient heroines you wished lived next door.

This was ok. The beginning was interesting and I was curious to see how everything was going to reveal itself. I mean, the town thought she was dead but she didn’t know the town thought she was dead. Hmmm 🤔🤔🤔 intrigued.

By chapter 5 people realized she wasn’t dead and by chapter 6 her high school boyfriend was dumping his fiancé and pledging his everlasting love to our heroine. From there I felt like everything that could be thrown into a book was. Multiple couples in love, multiple spouses who have lost loved ones, retirements, career ending injuries, affairs, abuse, abandonment, adoption, long-lost siblings, fake baby, Alzheimer’s, dying parent...I’m sure I’m missing about a dozen other things. It was overwhelming.

The other thing that was overwhelming was the number of characters. It was mind numbing trying to keep track of everyone and who belonged together or were interested in each other. My mind was spinning, and not in a good way.

Also, the steam factor is zero. They kiss one time at 43%, but it’s not steamy and there is no other sexual physical contact between the H/h. So if you like that in your books, this won’t have any of that.

There are several references to “God’s plan” but I didn’t feel like it was an overly religious book. I just noticed that God and angels were referenced.

Unfortunately the desperation of the jilted fiancé and the whole last 10% of the book was eye-rolling. It didn’t ring true, didn’t add to the story and I felt broke the flow of the story in a negative way. It definitely wasn’t needed.

I was looking forward to a really interesting plot of why her friends had been told the heroine was dead, but instead I got a ton of different plots that just made the book feel muddy.

I didn’t read the first book and it’s not necessary to do so in order to understand this one, so it is a standalone. However, if this is a sample of what is in other books, I’ll pass on reading anything else.

    3.5-4 stars for me

I really enjoyed this sweet second chance romance. It's my second read from this author and it's definitely tamer than the books I am used to but I found myself enjoying the sweetness of it.

Separated by lies and circumstance Bird and Jackson's lives read a little like a soap opera BUT the author gets away with it. She has characters you feel invested in and enough emotions to have me sniffling at times. Easy small town read.

I received an arc of this book.

  • Linda

Deleted: Jackson and Maggie is one of the very best books I have ever read. It’s so touching, loving, emotional, sad and happy all in one. Throw in a couple of deaths and you would think it was a thriller, but it’s the best love story I have ever read. It’s perfect. Jackson and Maggie are perfect.

When two people are torn apart by lies, deceit and death how can they move on? That is what is expected of Jackson and Maggie. Twelve long years Jackson has though Maggie was dead. Visiting her grave, leaving flowers for her, was all he had. He could not move on. She was the love of his life.

Maggie had no idea she had died. When she returns to Cliffside Bay because her murderous dad is dying she has no idea her life is about to change completely. When she finds out that she’s been dead for twelve years she is in shock.

This is a very touching and loving book. One you must read. It’s so good. From the first page to the last it will hold your heart hostage. Your emotions will jump everywhere. It’s one wonderful book.

I had me from the first word. I loved it. A big 5 stars and should be way more.
Thank you Tess Thompson for this and many more great books. I look forward to reading Jaded now and loved reading Traded.

This is the second book in the Cliffside Bay Series, and I have to say, this is my favorite so far. The love story between Jackson and Maggie, the horrible childhood of Maggie’s and then the twelve years that separated them, and the distance between them as well. But, Maggie felt like all t-he people she loved in her life in Cliffside Bay, deleted her from their life, when everything she wrote to them, came back return to sender, every single one of her letters, and postcards. She felt like everything that happened in the place she felt like she was just being played and she was disposable.

This book as dynamic and has relatable character, the storyline and references, and are easily understandable by his with special application. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ=REVIEW Catherine(Catty)

    4.5 Stars

Having read Traded I had a better understanding of Tess's writing style so I knew coming into this that it was not going to be the hot and steamy sexed up romance book like other authors. What you do get is an AMAZING story! I fell so hard for Deleted. The backstory between Jackson and Maggie is unbelievable. Tess is able to create such an intense love story that starts in childhood and makes you completely believe in soul mates.

Although it is a part of a series, I feel you can read this one as a standalone and not be lost. I can't express enough how much you are going to be pulled into their love and how it transcends everything. . . time, "death", and everyone else trying to pull them a part. In the end, love like theirs always wins. Don't miss this one. (Review by Terri "Jane")

I couldn’t wait to read Jackson’s story ever since I met him in Brody’s story. Jackson really deserved his happily ever after.

Jackson was still mourning for the past 12 years the death of his first love Maggie. He couldn’t really move on with anyone else because no one compared to Maggie. What he doesn’t know is that she’s alive. Both Jackson and his friends are surprised when she returns after 12 years.

Maggie returns home after 12 years to see her dad that is dying. She wants to go in and out and not see anyone. She thinks everyone hates her. But she’s the one in for a surprise when she realizes that everyone presumed that she died in a car accident all those years ago.

Jackson and his friends are so awesome that they figured things out together with Maggie about the lies and everything else. There were so many mysteries to resolve. Then there was the woman that Jackson tried dating, Sharon. She was nasty and annoying but Maggie saw right thru her and figured out what she was all about.

This book was more of their reconciliation and solving all the lies from the pasts. Something positive did come out of it which was a nice surprise. I enjoyed reading about the “Dogs” especially my two favorite Brody and Kara.

I can’t wait to read more on this group of friends.

Let me say this first. I do not hand out 5 stars willy nilly. I have to actually laugh out loud or cry real tears and be emotionally invested in the story. Lets just say my husband got 'shushed' many times when I was reading this.
Business first. This is the second book in the Cliffside Bay series. It can be read as a standalone but you will get more out of it and the small details if you have read the first book. This type of book is my jam. A series of books set in the same town/team/friends but each individual book is about a couple. We do get a HEA, which is a must in my book.
This book really builds until the couple meet again (can't give away too much!) At first I was impatient that they hadn't met yet, but now I am glad the author waited. It helped to get me more emotionally involved with the story.
I did cry real tears, but they were happy tears for this book. This couple really did deserve their happy ending and I can't wait to see more from them in the next book in the series. I usually don't like second chance books, but this one was definitely a unique situation!
I can't wait to read the next book and see what is in store for this town. I have a feeling it will be about Honor and Zane. I love all the details and hints that were dropped for future couples and I also liked how we got more of the couple from the first book.

In Cliffside Bay love runs as deeply as the secrets it's scenery hides. Thompson prides herself on making every tale a compelling canvas of emotion. Deleted is no exception. From young love to tragedy, Jackson and Maggie grab hold of a heart and wring out every memory, teardrop and hope encased within. What began in heartache went on to become an inspirational journey of second chances, survival and everlasting love. There is no escaping destiny and like Jackson and Maggie, Deleted has classic written all over it.

  • A.BookNerd.Bookseller&Bibliophile.Blog

This is the ultimate second chances book. Multiple characters have the chance to live their dreams they thought wouldn’t happen, Darla, Zane, Jackson, Maggie (at least 3 times over)! If you like second chance romances this is the book for you. I loved learning a bit more about Jackson who was first introduced in Brody and Kara’s book, Traded. We get to learn about what truly happened with Maggie who was mentioned multiple times in Traded. Then we see what happens when Jackson and Maggie learn the truth and when Maggie confronts her father and Darla, her father’s wife. I can’t wait to read about the other Dogs, Zane, Kyle, and Lance and keep up with the other residents of Cliffside Bay!

    Boring

I wanted to be into it, but it was too cliched. The dialogue was stiff. The plot, even with a semi-interesting premise, was formulaic. It was only made worse by the 15 different blonde main characters. Do ethnic minorities not live in California???

Such a great and heart warming story! Jackson lost the love of his life when they were only 18 yrs old but his heart never forgot Maggie and he hasn't moved on from that love even though she's been gone for 12 years! Maggie just found out that her father is dying and he wants her to come back to Cliffside Bay because she's been living in New York for 12 yrs, never returning to her hometown after graduating high school. Her heart still belongs to Jackson, the love of her life, but she's still hurt by how easily everyone from Cliffside Bay has forgotten about her. After arriving back in town she soon learns that everyone was told that she died 12 yrs ago and that Jackson is now engaged to another woman. Reeling from the lie that was told that changed her life and those of her close friends in Cliffside Bay, Maggie has to decide is she's going to stay and fight for Jackson and the love that still lives between them or will she go back to New York and continue to struggle in her career? Jackson is beyond happy that his Maggie is alive and that he has the chance to make up for past mistakes but what will happen with his new fiancee? An awesome series and I can't wait for the next book!

This series hinges on a set of friends many years after they bonded in College. In this second installment for the Cliffside Bay Series, readers will find a reunion that could have come straight from Mr. King’s own filing cabinet of plots. In bizarre twisted events created by her Father, Maggie has been lost from Cliffside Bay, and oddly enough, it’s her Father who brings her home.

So devastated by the loss of Maggie and after twelve years mourning, Jackson has finally decided to move on but his world is soon turned upside down when she returns. Old hurts melt to the background when they are reunited but new mysteries unfold and scorned hearts create havoc in this sweet, wholesome romance.

Vacations and poolside readings are just around the corner and Deleted: Jackson and Maggie (Book 2) will be a great companion for many readers. Tess Thompson delivers, yet again, another high level, masterfully crafted, story for readers to fall in love with. The intricate weaving of this plot, which may cross over into a mystery genre, will have readers hanging on the edge of their seats and running to pre-order the next installment.

  • Kris Lescinsky

I really enjoy Tess Thompson's books, and this one if by far and away my new favorite. Chapter 1 opens with Maggie turning thirty and learning she's been dead for 12 years. And things only get crazier from there. I'd rate this box 5 Kleenexes instead of 5 stars. (Pro tip: you will need them.)
Maggie is very much a Tess Thompson heroine, smart, sassy, and imperfect. The book opens with Maggie at a crossroads in her life which is deeply ironic since she's supposedly dead - except nobody told her.

This book is complex, and very real. The scene that hit home for me was in a nursing home with a dementia patient. As the daughter of a dementia patient I suddenly wondered if she'd had a camera nearby during my conversations with dad. She gets it right, with those incredibly well thought out details.

This is a story of true love that survives the test of time. It's woven in a complex story of long-term friends with a theme of enduring love, friendship, and family. But it's not an ideal world, and some of the ordeals the characters have survived will resonate for some readers.

  • Colleen

Can you imagine leaving your home town to return years later to find out everyone thinks you are dead? This is what happens in Deleted.

In the second book in the Cliffside Bay series we see Jackson as the town Doctor who never got over his first true love Maggie who died right after high school, or so he thought. When Maggie returns to her hometown to confront her father on his death bed about her mother's death she finds more than her mother's grave. She finds hers as well. Her father had told everyone in town she was dead.

Maggie, in her search for the truth about what happened in the past, has to learn to readjust some of the things she had believed while she was gone. Meanwhile Jackson has to come to grips with the return from the dead of his one true love.

Deleted is an interesting story with plenty of twists to keep you interested. There are also a few of the "Dogs" to help guide the way.

When I read the blurb for Deleted: Jackson and Maggie by Tess Thompson, the second book in her Cliffside Bay series, I knew I had to read it. I knew it would be emotional and full of angst, which I love. This second chance romance will captivate you.

Jackson Waller and Maggie Keene were each other’s first love. They meant everything to each other, but they also had dreams they wanted to achieve. But those dreams took them in different directions. And when Jackson learns Maggie is dead, he is heartbroken and devasted, but decides to reach all his goals. But what happens when they both learns of the lies and secrets that were told?

This story was sweet and emotional. Both a story of young love and second chances, I devoured it. There is no escaping destiny, it just means the journey may not be an easy one. Tess Thompson gave us a beautiful story of second chances.

    Happy reading!

Bring on the emotions and pull at the heartstrings because that is just what Tess Thompson gives you. She does give you laugh out loud moments too. This is an amazing second chance. Jackson and Maggie pull at you something terrible. You feel for them once you get further into the story and find out how they were kept apart. You root for them hardcore once they come face to face 12 years later. Maggie you just want to hug her once she gets all the answers she's looking for. It's beautiful to see the epic love between Jackson and Maggie. I love the friendships between everyone in this series. I reached for the tissues a few times. I laughed a little here and there. The Cliffside Bay series is a magical place to be. Such a beautiful story. I can't wait for more of this gang of friends.

I loved this installment in the Cliffside Bay Series!! I am already eagerly and impatiently waiting for the next book in the series!! The authors brings the characters to life for the reader and makes it super hard for them to leave the world that she creates. The readers are shocked by the pace that the author sets for this story. They are in a whirlwind of emotion, the reader will laugh, cry and at times curse at the author (sorry). You will run through the entire gamut of emotions whether you want to or not.

Jackson and Maggie were in love, they thought that they had the type of love that would last forever...but a dubious father, one simple argument and a lot of wasted years later, is that still a possibility?!? The author keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, she makes the reader work for the HEA that they are hoping for. She has the reader sending out thoughts of encouragement, vibes of love and at times the reader wants to go in and write the story that is playing out in their head. This is a roller coaster of emotion, the reader will not be able to predict what is coming next! This book is sure to leave you with a book hangover to rival no other! Be prepared!

If book 3 is anything like book 2 then I need to prepare myself now! If you haven't read anything by this author, you MUST! Grab this one and her first one and be prepared to want to do nothing else but read! An amazing new series!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This story was so wonderful. It stars two young lovers, Jackson and Maggie who have always loved the other. But Maggie had the devil of a father and he made everyone believe she had died 12 years before. Meanwhile Maggie has been living it up in NYC until she gets a your dad is dying phone call.

And that is how Maggie comes back from the dead. I loved how everyone reacts and especially Jackson. No spoilers here. But the two are also very different people 12 years later and I enjoyed watching them reconnect and have a more grown up relationship.

There are some big surprises along the way and I truly loved them, This is a great story and I cannot wait for more.

  • Sharon

    This story was amazing!
Jackson & Maggie have loved each other since they were young, when their dreams don't match up, Jackson gives her an ultimatum and she's heart broken. She heads to NY to pursue her dream, what she doesn't know is that her father, (that's a story in itself) tells everyone at home that she died on her way to NY. Jackson is devastated, he will never get over his first love.
Fast forward 12 years, her father is dying and requests her presence to come clean and beg for forgiveness, but she's got so much hatred for him and she wants answers that only he can give her so she goes home.
Can Jackson & Maggie once again have what they had so long ago? After all they have both grown,so much has changed! Follow their story in this great book! 5 stars for this great story!!!

This book reads like butter. The words flow so beautifully that you forget you are reading a book. You become the book. It evokes emotions that pour from your soul. Tess Thompson’s words are beautifully written in Deleted, Maggie and Jackson’s Story. The setting is Cliffside Bay, a small secluded town north of San Francisco. It’s everything to its residents, who are reluctant to embrace newcomers, but take care of their own. Deleted follows Traded, Kara and Brody’s Story. I will read these books again, and again, and again. Five sparkly stars!

This is the second book in the Cliffside Bay series, but I think it works perfectly as a stand alone. Although I loved the first one so much, I'd say start there. Thompson has created the most charming little town filled with imaginative and interesting characters. This go-round is with Maggie and Jackson, and their story is filled with drama, grief, humor, and love. Lots and lots of love. While not cloying, I did get teary eyed here and there. The Alzheimer story hit me in a very personal spot having just recently lost my own mother to the disease. However, it was well done and completely true to life. Thompson is a fantastic writer, and I can't wait for the next installment.

  • Amber Goodwin

Some loves you never get over.

Maggie followed her dreams but lost the love of her life in doing so. Imagine her surprise when she goes back to confront her father and finds out why no one ever responded to her in 12 years.

Jackson has been mourning Maggie for 12 years. No one has compared to Maggie. He is finally ready to take the next step with his girlfriend...even if her isn't quite sure...when Maggie comes back. To say it was a shock is an understatement.

What Maggie is able to find out from her stepmother rocks her world.

This was a great read. There were a few parts that seemed long but I get it was to tell the story. I look forward to more of this series!

I’m reviewing Deleted and Jaded together because I couldn’t stop reading this series! Tess Thompson’s characters in the small town of Cliffside Bay are intriguing and charming! Each has their own history and story but the author has merged their pasts into present lasting friendships and love stories that any reader of contemporary romance would love to be a part of! All of the books in this series have been wonderfully quick reads with just enough romance to keep you interested but not so much as to make you blush! I also felt these could be stand alone novels.
    Ready for #4!

From the very moment I began reading, "Deleted: Jackson and Maggie", I couldn't put it down. This second book in the Cliffside Bay series was a perfect transition as it introduced me to new individuals which lead me further into the lives of the characters that I came to know and love in Book 1. The strength of the women in this novel was impressive. I was captivated from start to finish with tears mingled in throughout. I am so excited to meet up with my Cliffside Bay friends in the next book in this awesome series!

Look at this gorgeous cover !!
Deleted: Jackson and Maggie is the second book in the Cliffside Bay Series by Tess Thompson. Every book can be read as a standalone- I recommend to read the books in order. The previous book is Traded: Brody and Kara.

Maggie Keene is a 30 year old ex-dancer, waitress and songwriter. She´s back in Cliffside Bay to see her father a last time. She left 12 years ago and never dreamt of coming back. She has unfinished business with her father and hopes for closure.
Dr. Jackson Waller is her teenage and highschool boyfriend. 12 years ago they had a ugly breakup and Maggie left .
But now she´s back and the first thing she finds is everything was a big big ugly lie. Everything the people of Cliffside Bay believed was a lie. And now the thruth is laid out for everyone to see.

Deleted is a emotional read and I cried my way through the book. It´s a heartwrenching journey ´til the hard earned and well deserved HEA. Deleted is told in a dual POV, the writing is great and I liked the characters and the story.
