Well, Nobody's Perfect.
If Gracie Erstwhile wants to keep her new homestead, she must do what every other widow in Last Chance, NE has done: choose a mail-order groom. At least having a man around to handle the farm will free her up to pursue her dream of opening a theater.
Noble McCain has lost his wife and his farm. And while he doesn't "need" a wife, his son needs a mother. He agrees to run Gracie’s farm and believes he and the little actress have come to an acceptable arrangement—acceptable until Noble realizes Gracie has some pretty shady ways.
When she agrees to put on a theatrical presentation for Last Chance, she gets a glimpse at a new kind of life. She makes friends, guides a son, and chases a dream—why, she might even be falling in love.
It’s all going along so well…until Gracie’s past catches up with her.
A Groom for Gracie (The Blizzard Brides, #11) Reviews

I actually had pretty high expectations for this book, and while they certainly weren’t met, A Groom for Gracie was a fun, inspirational read.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a western (all right, three months), so I was quickly swept back into the Wild West—and, y’all, I kept thinking of When Calls the Heart and Dr. Quinn while reading!
Heather Blanton’s style is straightforward and clear—which, admittedly, is not my style—but she kept the story moving forward at an even pace that was easy to follow. The story was pretty predictable (how many marriages-of-convenience must people write?), but I do like how well the twist at the end was weaved in.
The story breezed by, so I never really connected with the characters Gracie and Noble. I did like Gracie, since she was so unique and well-developed—I mean, you don’t read about a lot of unrepentant pocket-picking women in Christian romances, so having that kind of character who stays true and realistic was very refreshing. Noble, on the other hand, was kind of flat to me.
And the romance? Well…it wasn’t as heavy as I would’ve liked, but I do like a lot of heaviness when it comes to MoCs, so maybe that’s why the romance seemed almost like a subplot up against Gracie’s life struggles.
In the end, I was kind of disappointed, but I don’t regret reading A Groom for Gracie. I’ve heard so much good about Blanton, so I’m sure I’ll give her another try! -
Heather Blanton writes an addition to the Blizzard Brides series, where pioneer women find themselves in need of mail order husbands after two devastating blizzards make them widows.
In A Groom for Gracie, Gracie Erstwhile leaves behind a life as a con artist, wanting to settle down and reach for her dream of a community theater. Noble McCain, a farmer who experienced failure and loss, wants a place where he and his son can set down roots.
Noble doesn’t expect Gracie -- especially with her past -- to be the wife and mother they need. After all, theirs is a business arrangement - she has the farm, he will run it for her, and they will share the profits. What could go wrong?
Gracie is not your typical pioneer woman: she is a pickpocket and the widow of a snake oil salesman. She helped her husband fleece the people in a number of towns. Now she is retiring from that life, but can Gracie change her ways to become a farmer’s wife?
Blanton is a gifted storyteller, penning stories of strong pioneer women who face challenging situations, both in life and love. Her stories include strong faith elements, an adventure, a clean romance, and of course, plot twists. As always, Blanton includes good character development, descriptive narratives, and an original twist to the mail order storyline.
Recommended for adult collections in public libraries, as well as Western fans, and fans of mail order romances.

Gracie is a very vivacious lady, well..., not really a lady - she's a pickpocket and medicine man's wife, she's also an actress who would dearly love to open a theater in Last Chance - but to stay in Last Chance she needs a husband, something she does not want.
While sitting at the depot trying to figure out her life she meets a man and his son who are there for one of the other women, who happened to run off with a salesman just a couple days before. This man loved his wife and really didn't want another one, but he had no other choice. If he wants to take care of his son and be a farmer he needs a wife in Last Chance. A business deal is struck between the two and they immediately marry. But as in all of these stories, more than business starts to develop but Gracie has trouble nipping at her heels and another woman in town who is bent on ruining her. Can she find her happily ever after.
There is one cuss word in the story, during a Shakespeare reading there is a cuss word in the scene. Other than that it's clean. -
Solid, loyal and trustworthy.
Gracie meant every word, as did Noble, but to each of them these words mean very different things. Gracie means she can be depended on to do whatever she must for them to survive and she can be trusted with his secrets. Noble means always follow the path of God and Jesus to do no wrong. Needless to say this is a bumpy road to HEA, with lessons being learnt on both sides, but I am glad that Gracie's heart of gold eventually shines through. When her past catches up with her she proves herself once again by facing it rather than hiding. I liked Gracie and Noble grew on me as he relaxed a little, I could however quite cheerfully punch Jillian and I loved that Gracie constantly called her by other names to mess with her.
A great book in the series which I read on Kindle Unlimited. -
Gracie lead a rough life on the road. She and her husband were elixir, or snake oil traveling salespersons. Finally after all the bad things they had done, they settled down in Last Chance. They had a claim on some land and were going to go straight. Before they could fill out all the papers, Gracie became a widow from the blizzard. She not only needed to marry to get the land, the Pastor was also forcing all the women to marry right away. Before Gracie even had read her letters, she was face to face with a man who was a devout Christian, and thought she was his betrothed. That very afternoon they were married. It was a business arrangement. Can he forgive her past? Can she forgive herself. Does she allow God to forgive her? I loved this story. Gracie has some spunk!

Fabulous book!
Heather has done it again. I loved getting to know Gracie and Noble. I love the role Matt plays as well. Talk about a dysfunctional family. A must read to figure out how these three became family. -
