Just Keep Breathing: Tales of Love and Loss in New York City Reviews

I thought this was a great book. It is a set of brief short stories (52 in total-like a deck of cards). Each one is a poignant, touching, funny or tragic human portrait. The remarkable thing about Just Keep Breathing is how it all works as a collection. Connor has a very simple and effective device that is breathtaking in its originality and simplicity. One of the secondary characters from each story is the primary subject of the next one. The result is to build up a level of suspense and accumulate meaning and momentum.
The book left me contemplating our shared human condition in new and sharply drawn ways. Good things happen to people and bad things do too. We are eternally bound to our unique/diverse individuality as it is expressed through fear, desire, pain or joy - and to the unique individuality of those into whom we collide in life. It is a satisfying book that reveals the deeper meaning of its title through its reading as a whole. I'm looking forward with impatience for Connor's next book.
