Cocoa's Cranky Valentine: A Silly, Interactive Valentine's Day Book for Kids About a Grumpy Dog Finding Friendship (Cocoa Is Cranky) Reviews

I was immediately drawn to the cover and title of this book, especially being a grump myself (and not just on Valentine's Day, which I celebrate lol). This was a cute read with an unexpectedly sweet ending. I loved the vibrant artwork and all the pink. Kids will have fun with the interactive elements too.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for the Netgalley ARC. -
This was quite a cute and fun read. It introduces us to Cocoa the dog who is a cranky bugger and this Valentine's Day he has a secret admirer who hopefully turns his frown upside down and puts some love into him. He gets a card, but just as he is about to open it the cat comes and snatches it and now won't give it back to Cocoa. Can we help Cocoa grab his card and find out who is his Secret Admirer in time for Valentine's Day? As someone who used to work with children and toddlers. This book would have been a perfect one to use for toddler time or an early school visit as the book is interactive and kids love interactive stories and get into them. On some pages, it tells the children to help blow to 5 or use your finger to trace the end of the yarn, etc. Cocoa's Cranky Valentine is the perfect colorful and interactive read for children aged 3-6 years old. Also, it was very cute, when Cocoa's secret admirer is revealed.

Again, love the interactions for this book!
They are so fun and engaging that even I participated in them with my daughter.
Keep them coming! -
I absolutely loved this book! From the cover to the illustrations and, of course, the story. As a person who loves animals, it is always refreshing to read books with them. Especially dogs, here we meet Cocoa. His Valentine's Day did not start on the right foot. He did get a cute Valentine's Day card, but somehow it is lost. With the help of the reader in an interactive picture story, we will make sure to make his day better.
The illustrations are so fun and vibrant. Even if it's not Valentine's Day, this picture book will bring a smile to your face and brighten anyone's day. I also found out the author has a Christmas story with Cocoa, and of course, I am very excited to see what's in store for our adorable cranky bulldog. -
We read and enjoyed Cocoa's Cranky Christmas, so knew we had to read Cocoa's Cranky Valentine. I read this to my 4 yo grandson and he enjoyed the story, especially the cat who teased Cocoa. In this story Cocoa gets a valentine card, but the kitten grabs it and runs off with it before he can even see who it is from. He chases it, tries to get it interested in something else and then has to find the card. Along the way, there are things for the listener to do such as follow the wool or show cocoa how to dance. He enjoyed the story, but wasn't keen on some of the activities, but we did enjoy the book. The illustrations are cute and add much to the story. Overall this is a cute valentine story about friendship and the unexpected.

I have found the perfect interactive, fun Valentine’s Day board book for you and your littles to enjoy! I’d say the ideal age for this book is probably 2 to 5, in my opinion, but my almost 7-year-old was playing along and laughing through the whole book.
Cocoa’s Cranky Valentine follows our canine friend as his mischievous kitty friend steals his valentine from his secret admirer. Almost every page has an interactive element to try and help Cocoa get his valentine back. Some examples are helping give Kitty a treat and stretching both hands up high to help get the Kitty down. Honesty, it was just such a cute read all around. The story is engaging, the added interactive elements are fun, the illustrations are gorgeous, and it’s enjoyable for both caregiver and child, which is always a plus in my book!
If you are looking for the perfect book to help get you and your little’s in the Valentine’s Day mood, definitely add this one to your list. I could see this one being a new favorite! It would also be the perfect story time read aloud. -
In, "Coco's Cranky Valentine," Cocoa the bulldog does NOT like Valentine's Day. He is not thrilled to get a valentine's day card, but then is even more annoyed when the new kitten in the house swipes it before he can see who it's from. In the spirit of , "Tap the Magic Tree," there are instructions for the reader on each page, such as, "blow Cocoa a kiss," and, " tap the blanket and call kitty to lie down," etc. In the end, Cocoa finally gets his card back and is no longer cranky. This is a simple, sweet, and fun book. it is just the right length for a toddler or preschooler. The colors on each page are mostly limited to red, pink, brown, and aqua, but it really works in this story and the illustrations are bold and engaging. Although this book is published by Tommy Nelson, it is not a Christian book in any way, just a fun Valentine's story. I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. #sponsored.

This is a cute, interactive story about a grumpy dog and a mischievous cat. My 4 year old really enjoyed the interactive features in this story – such as say, “come here kitty, kitty”, or tracing the string to find the valentine, or blowing a kiss to Cocoa. I would recommend this story to friends with young children (ages 6 and under) – perfect for Valentine’s day in particular. I was however, disappointed that Thomas Nelson published a book that did not have any faith based elements that I expect from this publisher and called this book “Christian” when it simply was an adorable children’s story about friendship, love and animals. -
What a great interactive book. Great for Mom, Dad or Grandparents to act with little ones. From tracing string to taking breaths this is sure to be a fun book for children. The interactions are good motor and speaking skill activities. The illustrations and facial expressions are right on target. I recommend this book for the Valentine Day library.

Two pets, a grumpy puppy and a mischievous kitten, star in this interactive board book that invites tots to dance, tap, and talk. Very cute and emotive Disney-style illustrations (the kitten resembles Oliver from "Oliver & Co.")

My child definitely enjoyed it especially with the hands on prompts to help Cocoa which is a plus for me. Also those illustrations were cute and definitely will be in our nightly rotation.
