The final book in the bestselling Wolf Queen series by Linsey Hall.

I'm a hero. And I'm locked in a cell. Fantastic.

A week ago, it took everything I had to save the werewolves from the Dark Moon curse, but I did it. Unfotunately, it left me with a nasty case of the curse myself. To make matters worse, I'm the most powerful werewolf who ever lived. And I'm apparently a goddess. Combine that with the fact that I'm also cursed to madness and a loss of my shifter loyalty, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Even though I don't want to be locked up, I know its the best thing for everyone. If I were to get out and succumb to the curse, I could destroy us all. The only way to save myself is to find a cure for the curse, something that I still haven't managed to figure out. My fated mate Lachlan is determined to help me, but we we're still haunted by our own curse. If I fall for him, I'm dead. According to our most powerful seer, at least.

So yeah, let's just say things are complicated.

    2.5
At least it was a short book....

The series ends as expected, and well, if you liked the previous books, you'll like this one as well. If you didn't, then don't bother to go on, it won't get better.

The good part, and well done Linsey Hall for that, is that the books kept me hooked. True, a cliffhanger at the end of every book, but it worked.

There was a lot of action, and skimming worked, so it wasn't so bad, overall. Maybe it's a 'it's not you, it's me' type of thing.

    Would I recommend it? Nope
Why did I read 5 books then? IDK, sometimes I make no sense.

    The perfect Ending

This book from Linsay hall was good and well written It was so amazing and it did sum up a lot of things from book one to book five so perfectly, sad to know this was the last book to the series. But wow what a great series.
    This ending as perfect….

Ok, don't get me wrong, while I LOVED all the other books, this last one just didn't click for me... I would probably have to rate Wolf Queen about 2.5, and let me break it down for you why.

    1. We barely see Lachlan's POV.
His POV in all the previous books showed me that the relationship between him and Eve was mutual. Yeah, I get it, you don't need both MC's view points to have an electric relationship, but for this particular couple, seeing Lachlan's POV really made their dynamic explosive.
This book was extremely lacking in showing my poor baby Lachlan's feeling for Eve, as shown previously. It all felt very Kindergarten and almost half-hearted to the point that I cringed because the relationship felt shallow and flat.

    2. There was too much action that it became unbearable.
I know that the other books were action packed and pretty fast paced, but I felt like the characters never got an opportunity to sit down and breathe in this book. They just kept jumping around from one place to the next and then back again to the first place.

    3. The storyline felt too easy.
This entire series, there has been gripping plot twists that jump out of nowhere. It really keeps you on your toes and you never know what to expect. Wolf Queen's "climactic" moment was honestly just plain sad and pretty predictable.
Oh, here's 3 ancient witches who you barely meet and nevermind the fact that they just told you pretty much everything the reader/characters already knew. Also, what about "climactic fight scene" where Eve finally defeats the Maker? Oh you know, just a jaunt up the side of a mountain where it ends with barely doing any work to defeat this all powerful god. I get that this was the last book and it technically is a conclusion of the series, but everything was resolved too easily.

    4. Minor pet peeves that bothered me.
First and foremost, we were given barely any of Lachlan's right hand man, Kenneth. The last two books brought him out as a semi main character who was vital in helping with translations. For this book, he was mentioned maybe 1 time at the beginning of the book!!!
Also, the witches who gave Eve a part of the puzzle, told her specifically 2 times that to unlock all her memories that she needed a catalyst. That catalyst was never acknowledged when suddenly Eve and Lachlan gets their memories back on the island. NOTHING was ever mentioned and is kind of left up in the air.
I know this is stupid, but why are they all the sudden needing to limit their use of the transport charms and are making a big deal about running out of them? As stated previously in the series, those who have money don't have a problem with getting them, and we all know that Lachlan is like mega rich and is definitely not struggling financially. It just felt inconsistent.

Now I did obviously enjoy some parts of the book, including any and ALL interactions with Ralph! He was probably my favorite character for this book and cracks me up with his chocolate obsession. Hey, maybe that's why I like him so much!
I'm very curious to see who the next Shadow Guild character will be shown in the new series Hall is set to release in July. My hopes are on Mac and possibly Jeeves from the Witches Guild. I don't know, I felt a little something something...😏😏
Overall, I would recommend the series, but be prepared to possibly be let down with Wolf Queen. It was just not my cup of tea and everything I stated above is strictly an opinion, my opinion... Now, if y'all would please excuse me, I work the night shift and sleep is calling my name!😴😴

Esta saga pudo ser una duologia o una trilogía hubo muchas cosas repetidas, en si me gustó el romance de los protagonistas pero creo que pudo tener más desarrollo en vez de enviarlos a tantas misiones sin sentido.

This is the last book in this series which has seen Eve stop pretending to be Fae and embrace her Wolf heritage. Both her and Lachlan have found love but the curse that has torn apart Lachlans family is now gripping Eve. She knows she's no ordinary Wolf but actually the last of the Dire Wolves to walk the Earth and now she's hoping to finally defeat the nasty, shadowy and downright evil Maker. Although as she's imprisoned as this book starts Eve really needs to get a move on !
Wow there is a lot thrown into this final instalment as Eve and Lachlan discover things about themselves that are both astonishing and well more than a little sad. As usual there's plenty of magic and historical artefacts/places woven into the story with quite a lot of emphasis here on Scotland and the invasion by Vikings. I do enjoy reading about this couple although it's most assuredly Eve who shines throughout with her wit and courage. The Makers end was for this reader a little quick but there are explanations about his purpose and why he exists. Plus Eve not only takes her place as the one and only Wolf Queen but visits a hospital which definitely made me smile.
This voluntary take is of a complimentary copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

    A great series finale.

Fast-paced, action-packed and an abundance of magic as well.
Even though you know a happily ever after is coming, the journey to get there is always exciting, thrilling and seriously amazing.
Eve and Lachlan are back with Ralph and everyone from the shadow guild it’s an exciting time curse broken, curses not broken or absorbed, more powers to come and some delightful twists and turns along the way.

  • Stacey mann

Iv really enjoyed Ev and Lachlan story and the trails they go through to find out who they are and why they mean to each other. I loved how fast pasted the story was and as always it’s amazing to see the guys.. because we got to read all their individual stories you feel like you are right there with them. Brilliant series.

  • Kitlina

A nice ending to the series.
All was wrapped up pretty well. There are some characters that were forgotten and I wished we would have known their whereabouts: like Garreth, Kenneth, that girl that was locked up with Garreth in the underground.
Anyway I liked where it went and I'll read more from Ms. Hall in the future.

  • Penny

I am never as sad when a series by this author comes to a close anymore because I know I’ll see the characters in another series which I love. This is the last one, and it’s so full of action, I almost got whiplash. Eve is so close to giving in to the Dark Moon curse, but she has to defeat the Maker first while not giving in to Lachlan’s love. There is one character in this I actually hope we see a series of and that’s Garrett. For some reason, he’s really stuck me through the series for being such a minor character. Anyway, this one was full action, a little romance, and great writing. I’m a little off wolf shifters and the whole “a seer said I will die if I love you,” but this is still a great book. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I enjoyed this book as much as first two. Loved the pacing of the story and the end. Enjoyed the series just if the middle books could been concatenated into one then it would have been best.
But still enjoyed the story and especially I didn't expect the whole backstory.

  • Leah Blacklock

Damn this series was good. I loved the ending and I cant wait to read more of the stories from in this world!

I really enjoyed this serie. ☺

Sadly, a lot of repetition from previous books in series and inconsistencies.

This is the 5th and final book in the Shadow Guild Wolf Queen series. Sadly, I skimmed through a lot of it. This is a series that could have been really good if it had been condensed into only 3 books, certainly no more than 4. I really enjoyed the first three books, but when the fourth turned out to be more of the same with very little new development, I was seriously frustrated and bored by the end. Too much of the same. I went into this one with that same boredom and frustration only to have it increase because it was just the same until almost the end. I got tired of quests to find objects, only to have the Maker (who wasn't diminished at all as implicated at the end of book #4) steal each one as soon as the h got her hands on them. They do manage to steal them back, but those objects only lead them to another and so on and so on... Like I said...it got old.

We do finally discover what the Maker is and what he is to the h. Ttowards the end, the h finally remembers her past. But this is where it really started to fall apart for me. Why? Because some things just didn't make sense and the ending was kind of anticlimatic and a little too contrived. If you want to know specifics, keep reading, but be for forewarned....POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD...

    Things that didn't make sense...

One moment she's all powetful, then another she's weak. She supposedly regains all her past memories, but then she doesn't completely recall everything.

Strong emotions bring on the dark curse. I can understand emotions like rage and anger, maybe even fear....but love????? Really? Someone tells you they love you and because you love them too it brings on the dark curse and you want to kill them?

Then there's the prophesy that if h and H mate she will die soon after. Through out this whole series, they fight it and it's hinted by other characters that the prophesy may not be exactly what it seems. (Prophesies never are...seers or oracles always speak in riddles). So, I'm thinking that the prophesy will turn out to be a metaphor; that when they are finally mated, the h (Eve) will cease to exist as she was, so in a sense the old Eve dies, but she then "ascends", is reborn as the Wolf Queen/Moon Goddess with all her powers. That wasn't the case. She ascends by reaching her crown and placing it on her head, then she actually dies, sacrificing herself to kill the Maker. (Didn't think Gods and Goddesses could die, but yes, she dies killing the Maker who is the God of Shadow and darkness, her opposite). And because she sacrificed her life to kill the dark evil God who would hurt people, the fates allow her the choice to live again. Truly, that was kind of hokey and just too pat. Honestly, I liked my idea better...it made more sense with the mystical, magical atmosphere of this story and the previous assertions from other characters that the prophesy might not mean what they think, they just needed to figure it out. There was nothing to figure out here.

And even though it didn't play out like I anticipated, I still expected that when they finally quit fighting the mate thing and bonded there would be something special to signify it. Like epic sex ending with a mating bite mark, or matching tattoos appearing some where on their body and/or a metaphysical connection that they suddenly feel, that truly connected them. Nope...it was nothing special...just sex...and not even hot sex. Just a couple of paragraphs. In the prologue 10 months later, they're not even living together yet! Huh????

As she's going on her last quest to claim her crown to "ascend" Eve states that you aren't just given the goddess crown, you had to earn it and that she hadn't been able to complete the quest and claim her crown in the past, but the Maker had and, therefore, he "ascended". So, if he ascended and had come into all his powers, but she hadn't, then why was he jealous of her powers? And if she hadn't ascended, how was it she had the power of creation (which is what he was jealous of)? After all, what's more powerful than creation? It just seemed powers increased or decreased without rhyme or reason except to justify what was happening at the moment.

So, book #5 gets 2 stars for repetition, inconsistencies lack of imagination! Overall I'd rate the entire series 3 stars.

I ended up coming back to this series because I just finished another series that had the same narrator - Laurel Schroeder. When I was commenting about the fact that I had listened to a series by the same narrator, it made me realize that I hadn't checked to see if the final book was out yet in this series. It was - so I bought it.

Let me start by saying that I have enjoyed this series. It has been a fairly simple listen/read that has been building up to a climax. Unfortunately, this book was NOT my favorite. Not by a long shot. To me, it read like a booklet of directions on a new appliance....."First go her and find this....then go here and do this....after that you will find more instructions..." So, I wasn't really impressed. It seemed like the 2 MC's were basically running around on a very intricate obstacle course or scavenger hunt.

Does that mean I didn't like the series? No, I actually liked it a lot. I think that because I took such a long break between books 4 and 5 that may have contributed to my feeling. I've found that when I read straight through a series, it it is a series that I am enjoying, I tend to be a little easier to please. That's probably crazy but for me, it just is what it is.

The series winds up with a very satisfactory HEA. I really liked both of the MC's. I liked the information that we were given at the end of this book about the past of the two characters. I listened to most of this series on Audible and I did not have any issues with the narrator. I know some people did - but it wasn't a problem for me.

    Good.

If I could give 3.5 stars I would. It was good, not great.

I have enjoyed the previous stories in these linked series but this one didn't grab my attention quite as much. I enjoyed the first few books, but the last couple lost the way, in my opinion.
I think Eves story could have been reduced down into less books and been a lot more exciting.
I found myself skimming a lot of the quests. There was so much hopping from one to the next, I have to admit getting lost as to what they were looking for in that particular one. There was also always a pre quest to get a trinket before then moving to the actual quest, which heightened my confusion too.
A lot of the time, these side quests didn't seem to further the story or were never mentioned again too. I often found myself wondering what was the point of some of them.
It was like the equivalent of playing a made up game with your kids, and the countless inexplicable rules that goes with the game. You drown in your own confusion, quite quickly.

With all of that being said, it is well written, and the characters are likeable. You do root for them.
As a Brit myself I find the use of American English in a London setting quite jarring. They're British, so why the American spellings and version of words?

I will read the next one. I just hope it isn't quite so convoluted. 🙂

    Fun and unpredictable!

I read this whole series in just 3 nights....each book ended with you having to know more! This is my first series by this author and I am a little nervous with new authors and trying them out! I really enjoyed how this author kept it unpredictable. Too many times I will start a book and quit half way because I can already predict what the end will do. Each of these books had moments where a different twist from what you thought was going to happen would come sneaking up on you and add special little quirks to the book!
The characters were well developed and each had their own strength they brought to the mystery solving of the story. Lachlan was strong and brooding but protective putty in Eve's hands! Even was strong and independent but so bound to Lachlan that she just couldn't shake her feelings for him!
These books were a fun ride down a twisting rabbit hole of love and mystery! I would highly recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal fantasy and especially the ones that aren't so raunchy you get lost from the plot. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author!

  • Catalina

I'm so in love with this series, I'm very happy and angry at the same time. Happy because of the end, and angry because is the end.
I'll try not to spoil, but what a journey. The growth of Eve & Lachlan was so enormous and I'm very proud of them.
AND THAT TWIST. OMG, I SHED A TEAR. MANY, ACTUALLY. I fell in love even more with Lachlan.
And for some reason, I thought that, with everything settled, the end would disappoint me. But god no, it didn't. The epilogue was so heartwarming, and I'm really sad is the end.

  • Kathy Mayer

There is always a loop hole.

Lots of locations visited and clues put together. I have no idea how Linsey figures all this stuff out. There is a sad part and I almost cried. I pray I don't have nightmares because I'm claustrophobic. The details of that scene were pretty traumatic. That would be my worst nightmare! I never would have guessed that Lachlan was reincarnated. He never had flashbacks or dreams about his previous life. I absolutely love Ralph the most in this book. His loyalty and devotion to Eve. He barely left her side. I was so glad he could help keep her sane. It will be interesting to hear about her dire wolves in the coming spinoffs. I know Linsey will add them somewhere! Perfect HEA ending!

  • Diane

I wish the system would let me give this book 3.5 stars. I love the Guild City world and characters. I loved Carrow and Seraphias stories. I liked this book and series, but not quite as much because (in my opinion) it just drug on too long. I think what bothered me most was that it dwelled so much on the tension between the two main characters, Eve and Lachlan. The 'we want to love each other but can't due to our respective curses, so we're miserable' theme came up over and over and over. After 5 books, it just got old. Other than that, the story (and series) is well written and only has a few editing problems. If you are a fan of Linsey Hall, I'd still recommend this book and the series. I still enjoy the Guild City world and will go on to the series about the next character.

  • Brittany Hames

    Great Series! Awesome Writer.

I choose 5 stars because these books are worth it loved the series. The characters were great would have loved more of Lachlans chapters or even books of his point of view. Being honest I'm sad the book ended but it was a wonderful ending I about cried thinking this is how it's young to end your kidding me. Loved the plot and story line. Would recommend to anyone that wants a little suspense in there book they are reading.
Thank you for taking the time to write these awesome books. Off to my next adventure! Maybe Bitten their are a couple of other books of yours that caught my attention.
Oh would like to know more about Ralph and Corinna is it? They seemed very 😍

Epic ending to another great series by Linsey!

This is the final installment in the Wolf Queen series and it is so freaking good! Eve fights to becomes who she is meant to be with Lachlan by her side. They go on a long winded journey to find the answers they seek while fighting the maker along the way. Their lives have always been entwined with one another and they find out just how deep it goes. Can Eve fight the dark moon curse long enough to figure out how to defeat the maker? Do they find a way around the prophecy that foretold Eve is to die because of her love for Lachlan? How is she connected to the maker? You will have to read to find out. This book had me in tears a few times. It will hit you in the feels. I love that I couldn't figure out how exactly it would all play out until the very end. Linsey keeps us on the edge of our seat. I'm so sad to see Eve and Lachlan's story end but I'm sure they will be making an appearance in other series. Fantastic ending to another great series by Linsey Hall! I highly recommend this series and everything she writes!

    An Epic Conclusion

Linsey Hall some how has done it again. In the Shadow Guild world Wolf Queen has been my favorite series so far. In book 4 we were left on an epic cliff hanger and I was anxious to see how it would play out but it was honestly better than I could have hoped for! There were many things packed into this booked but in the end you truly realized the depth of love the characters have for each other. Once again I am completely blown away with this series and with how this ending came together. I cannot wait for the next shadow guild story (here’s to hoping we finally get Mac’s story)!

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review

Eve and Lachlan's situation, according to the prophecy, is not going to have a good ending and there is nothing that can change it. With Eve doubting her abilities and expecting the worst, the situation becomes more difficult for Lachlan. I really enjoy how the author develops plots with challenges and adventures that stimulate my imagination and keep me avidly reading to know the outcome of what seems like a dead end. Interesting and exciting adventures, magic, strong emotions, doubts, mysteries revealed, an exciting fight with everybody aboard, detailed descriptions and narrations, violence, romance and passion. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I liked.
