This is an evocative picture book based on the beloved classic tale and retold for younger children. "The Wind in the Willows" is a re-telling of the beloved Kenneth Grahame story following the adventures of four riverside Mole, Ratty, Badger and, of course, the eponymous Mr Toad. It is evocatively illustrated by Mauro Evangelista, who also illustrated the Young Reading titles "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Wizard of Oz".

The Wind In The Willows (Usborne Picture Storybooks) Reviews

  • Gabriela

    lovely!

  • Erin Hendrian

I wasn’t sure how Wind in the Willows could be condensed into a picture book, but the story and characters were surprisingly well-captured - every word counts! The illustrations are great, and my kids LOVE this book... definitely requested several times a day, and Beatrice can recite it nearly word for word.

  • Francesca Lee

The teacher read this book to the class on placement It gave the children an opportunity to learn about the different animals deeply and them as characters in the book.

  • Lydia

Simple yet effective. Good story and clever to get a message across about being sensible, not taking things for granted and just for looking out for friends. Quick read and easy picture book to follow, great for early reading. The typography goes very well with the language, highlighting key words.

  • Krisz

Beautifully illustrated, cute little story. A bit too slow in the modern times, but OK for patient children!

  • Lex Redding

    A strange little story.

  • Emma

Quirky little version of a classic I read as a child.

  • Heather

Loved this version, as did my classes bookclub!

  • Mackenzie Hart

It was ok. And I also want to ride at Disneyland Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I rated it 3 stars because it wasn't my favorite and it didn't have many pages.
