I probably should’ve dnf’d this. Skimmed most of the last half.

A mafia werewolf book, yes it made its way onto my radar. Mostly due to the idea of this combined genre and my current mission as I tear through the romance genre. It’s also a very short book.
So it starts with this dude Lawson and he doesn’t seem like a bad guy. He’s just trying to prevent a war and get one of his guys back. So of course I didn’t get big bad vibes. Then it just turns into Erotica when Ava gets to have her view point. By erotica I mean he punishes her with sex without her consent. In her Prov she says she enjoys it, but doesn’t.
Ava is also a Virgin, but you won’t hear her name much throughout most of the book. Clearly the writer was going for erotica with a crazy human that can hold her own against werewolves and vampires. She’s extremely intelligent, yet she’s easily overpowered by a werewolf whom is not much of a mafia leader. Despite her fierceness this book still has plot holes and lacks any kind of real plot. If you read the beginning and the ending, you will know the entire story.
The ending is a battle with a happy ending of sorts. When I say of sorts, I mean there is a lot of fast forwarding the last chapter. First there was a battle then fast forward to already having had some sort of ceremony, fast forward to there is a council and they are going to a meeting, fast forward to everything works out. Normally a seasoned writer would discuss all of these moments, but instead it’s glossed over like a rough draft. This book is perfect for another writer to steal, fill out all the holes, slap a new name on it and then brand it as theirs. I don’t advice this, I’m just saying they could and no would know with this book being an idea and not a book by traditional standards.
No I would not recommend this book. I wouldn’t even recommend it for erotica lovers. This book just needed to be so much more. -
Sara Fields has written another great story. Short but packed full of action, this will leave you wanting more as you turn the pages. Lawson meets Ava when they are trying to get rid of vampiresvand find her being held prisoner by them. She may be human but what she has to combat the vampires intrigued the wolves. Can Lawson and Ava come together and defeat the vamps? And what about the secret that Ava is keeping as to why she's doing this? So good!!

Stockholm syndrome is a psychological condition that occurs when a victim of abuse identifies and attaches, or bonds, positively with their abuser. This syndrome was originally observed when hostages who were kidnapped not only bonded with their kidnappers, but also fell in love with them.
There has to be some point in which she should have agreed, & it would have needed to be prior to her complete breakdown. -
BDSM themed. Spanking punishments and was steamy. DNF at 35% bc it seemed more erotica than story and I was bored of “my cock” and “I’m so hard” and “I’m gonna punish her” every other sentence. Not what I’m looking for in my shifter romances.

Wolf shifter mafia dark romance with intense spankings and action starting from the first few pages.
Lawson Clearwater is the alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack who is on a rescue mission to free his beta Toboe from the Venuti vampire clan. While in the fortress that held the cells he discovers a human female who knows he is a shifter intrigued and drawn to her he breaks her out only to discover she is a spitfire that can fight and has weapons he has never seen before that can kill wolves and vampires. Chaos soon ensues and a fight erupts between the wolves and vampires and she slips away or so she thinks. He knows she is his mate and plans on punishing her and claiming her for running away.
Ava Winters father was killed by the Venuti family and she is out for revenge. Since a child her father has taught her about shifters and vampires and how to kill them. She was trained by the best teachers in field how to fight and before her father died he showed her how to make the special bullets and weapons. What she wasn't prepared for was Lawson and his dominant ways that broke through all her defensive well most of them. Their story has action, intrigue, suspense, danger, drama, twist, turns, betrayals, wars, death, punishments, domination/submission, graphic sex scenes, passion with well deserved happiness and love.

Lawson Clearwater, alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack, is part of the biggest werewolf pack in New Orleans with their territory in the Quarter. While on a mission to rescue the beta of the pack, Toboe, Lawson finds a fiery human that is also being held in the Venuti vampire clan. He knew from the moment he saw her that Ava Winters was his mate. Ava had some impressive weapons that Lawson needed to know more about and he had to have her and break her.
The breaking process started the next night. Lawson thought he had her right where he wanted until she snuck out of her house the next night and snuck back into the Venuti compound. Ava is determined to find some to clear her father’s name. Lawson is determined that they do this as a team but Ava is strong-willed and feisty. While breaking her, Ava found out some surprising things about herself.
Readers will enjoy this adventure. Vampires, werewolves and humans, Oh my. -
Lawson, Alpha of Crescent Moon Pack needed to get his Beta back from those bloodsuckers. It was an in and out mission. He didn’t expect to find a human in one to the cages. She was a hell cat and had skills that was amazing. But she possessed something more important, a means to kill the vampires. He would get it from her. Ava Winters was not a shrinking violet. She was a fighter and was trained by the best. She would clear her family name. She certainly didn’t expect to have an alpha “dog” sniffing her. Something about him lite the fire in her. Her body wanted him but her mind knew better. When she is caught and interrogated, she will fight. But will she win?
Lawson is not playing when he says he is going to punish Ava. OMG!!! That woman is strong. She not only is able to take the punishment but she comes back for more. These two are a well suited match. She drives him to distraction at times but her intelligence is what really gets him. She has created something that will kill the vampires. Think Blade and what they came up with the kill the vamps. It wasn’t as cool but darn close. You get sucked into all the sex and discipline. I couldn’t put my kindle down to stop reading. -
This is an intense mafia shifter romance with a darkish undertone & the action starts within the first few pages. The plot is highly intriguing with graphic scene descriptions & good world building. The characters are well-developed, likable & interesting with a variety of emotional complexities & have strong-willed personalities with some unusual traits.
There is: a alpha male wolf shifter (Lawson Clearwater) of the Crescent Wolf Pack comes across his fated mate (a human female, Ava Winters) while trying to rescue his pack’s beta (Taboe) & he is going to teach her a very painful lesson for having the audacity to try & defy him, wolf shifters, vicious vampires, humans, council meetings, drama, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, action, adventure, vengeful feelings, secrets, danger, threats, a pending war, captivity, devious intentions, defiance, aggression, punishments, discipline, domination/submission, graphic sexual scenes, contentment, love & a well-deserved, satisfying epilogue. -
This book was full of dark desire. A paranormal romance with wolf shifters and
vampires. Throw in a human out for revenge and you have a fast moving compelling story that will have you looking for other books by this author. It was dark, twisted, and utterly addictive. A shifter romance with elements of none- consensual sex, dominance, trepidation, and delicious punishment scenes.
Ava was no wilting flower. She was trapped at Lawson’s mercy. Her mind screamed to resist, but her body demanded her to yield to his power. She wanted his touch. She craved it. She needed it.
Lawson was dark and menacing in the best possible way. He enemated raw sexual power. He will have Ava’s submission and obedience at any cost. He

On my, what a story!! It's intense with chemistry so breathtaking that you will be left with goosebumps. Except heart-stopping scenes that will leave you breathless. -
Are you a good girl or a bad girl?
This book starts with boom! They are on a mission to rescue one of their own. Where did she come from? She is a killing machine. No time to answer questions. No answers equal punishment. And there is a sh#t load of discipline and hot sex in this book. This is a fast action story. I love the main characters Lawson and Ava. Ava will kick some vampire ass. If you are into spanking this is the book for you. If you have any triggers please this is not a book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. -
What a book! Now, before you get this book, you should know that it is not for the squeamish, this is an Alpha King who takes what he wants, especially when that something or someone is his mate, objections be damned. The wolf rules his mind very firmly on this, but there is also a gentle side to him and Ava is no wallflower, she knows exactly what she wants and is a strong and skilled warrior. Very hot book, I love the characters and the world that was created. Delicious!

Not in my city
This is the first book I've read by this author, but it will not be my last! The author brought all of that dark desire I love, and combined it with romance, and danger, making for a story that I just couldn't put down. This book is not going to be for everyone and it is certainly on the dark side with possible triggers, but the author took care with her writing and brought out the hidden desires of the characters slowly, enhancing the story and capturing my attention. I enjoyed the different take on the PNR world and the creativity that went into this story. This book is a fantastic read and one that I am sure I will be revisiting again, well at least until the next book comes out. -
Interesting take on the shifter/fated mate genre. Lawson is the Alpha of his pack and runs into Ava, a human seeking vengeance against the vampires who killed and ruined her father's name. Ava is a skilled vampire fighter, with a secret weapon. She is also Lawson's fated mate, and she is not happy at all. The book is twisted, well paced, steamy, action filled, and more. Another great read by Sara Fields.

Ava and Lawson meet right away in this story. Both are aiming for vengeance against the Venuti Vampires who have wronged people they love. In Eva's case, the vampires caused her father's death, in Lawson's case, the vampires killed members of his pack and imprisoned his second in command. There is a ton of action and a busy storyline, just know that Ava and Lawson have a strong connection and Ava could be the key to the wolfpack's war with The Vampires. The Crescent Moon Pack have a few wars with the Venuti Vampires from beginning to end of the book and Ava has a key role in both fights. The emotional and sexual connection that Ava and Lawson have is steaming hot, irresistable and will keep you panting as you read about their pull/push relationship and thru the many disciplinary spankings Ava earns from Lawson. I cannot say much more without revealing too much and giving spoilers, so take my word for it and read this exciting, sexy story for yourself, you will enjoy every word!

This is a very sexy, very steamy, action-packed read from beginning to end, literally. It starts and ends with fighting, and the middle is much of the same. It was exactly what I was expecting and I loved every second of it.
Ava isn't your average human, and that's a good thing since she's surrounded by wolves and vamps. She's no shrinking violet, either, and she sure as hell isn't going to bow down to anyone. Lawson isn't a out to take any of her attitude and he knows exactly how to put her in her place. The tension is palpable and kept my heart racing, throughout. Every page is exciting and sexy, the chemistry is perfect, and the passions are high. This is a must already for those who love their paranormal romances to have some bite. -
Lawson is alpha of his pack and he’s an incredible one. He’s a strong and fair leader but ruthless to his enemies. He makes them his top priority and will do anything and everything to help them. In doing so, he discovers Ava.
Ava is beautiful, fiesty, strong, determined and lethal but when it comes to Lawson, her training falls a little short. She reacts differently to him in a very unexpected way.
Their chemistry is off the charts hot!!! Shifter romances (especially wolves) are one of my absolute favorites to read and I loved every minute of this book! -

Ava is a tough human and has the ability to make bullets which kill the vampires which she has learned from her dad. Her father was killed and now she seeks vengeance. But its Lawson, Alpha of the pack who knows she is his mate, he will punish her and claim her till she knows she can trust him.

These pages were an absolute delight to read. Full of action-packed scenarios and hot and steamy scenes. A fascinating story with great characters.
