This is the second book in the Greyhawk series, Long Line of Love. In this installment, it's Randall and Benai's story. You may remember Benai from the first story as Tempest's good friend who talks Tempest into asking Layton for a kiss that starts the whole ball rolling. Randall and Tempst meet at the rehersal dinner. There is an attraction, but Bancroft, who took some of Branndon's, his twin, pain, becomes obsessed with Benai, claiming her. Once a brother has claimed a woman, all the other brothers back off. Not this time and problems insue. The problem between Randall and Benai is his guilt over his involvment with Benai and his inability to express his emotional feelings. Payton, Randall's twin, is the one brother who fights for Randall's right to claim Benai who, by the way, keeps stating that she does not want Brancroft. As this is a romanace novel, with some kink, there is a happily ever after with a surprise.
I thought the story line was much better in this one than the first. There was more interaction with more of the whole family. It seemed as if there were more brothers listed in this text than the first one. But since I swaped it, I could not check.
I also liked how Benai would not settle for Randall's offers until she received the one she wanted. And she still made him dance a little. And this is the second brother who does not want marriage and makes insane offers to get around it. Randall tells Benai she can see other men and he'll only date her. He then tells her that they should have children and he'll take very good care of them. Sound familar?
And that could be viewed as a weakness from the writer. We've already read this in the first book. Sort of a retred.
And I can understand why the brothers are so against marriage, due to the bad marriage of their parents. But the only details the reader knows about the poor marriage was that the mother did not have love balm and that father cheated on mother. Where he got the energy is also a question because they produced 9 children. Since this poor marriage guides how the males of the family feel about marriage in general, then the reader needs more details about it.
And speaking of the mother, Matilda, she shows up this text as a ghost. I don't have a problem with her being in the text, but it seems as if the writer wrote herself into a corner, and used the ghost mother to solve the problem between Randall and Brancoft. And now that she has appeared, I expect her to be in the rest of the novels.
I had a problem with the intamcy between Benai and Payton. He kisses her, flys her across the county in Randall's jet and sleeps in the bed with her-fully dressed and nothing happens. My reading partner thinks that Payton is gay. I explained that he's not and the next book is his story.
I had no idea that Randall and Payton were even twins from the first text. I thought the only twins were Branndon and Brancroft. There are still 7 stories to be written, so no telling how many other sets of twins there are.
My reading partner was fed up with the term, "balls deep." By page 131, it was used 4 times. That is lazy writting. There are other terms to show how deep Randall was in Benai.
The use of the nickname "Hawk," when all the family was together was tedious. And it only confuses the reader and pissed me off. Just say the name. That may work in visual media, it does not translate to written media.
There is alot of sex in this book and long scenes. If the reader is not comfortable with anal sex, stop reading after the first sexual encounter.
I was tired of all the gushing about family members in this text. Ok, we get it, they're all great. Enough already.

This is the second book in this series and it was as equally as good as the first.
Benai Peters is Tempest's is best friend and while they are having dinner they run into Layton's brother Bancroft.
Bancroft is charming and he thinks Benai is perfect, however before he can pursue her something happens and he becomes dark and brooding. At Tempest and Layton's reception he acts differently towards Benai. She is uncomfortable with him and Randall comes to her rescue.
The sparks fly between them, but Randall is torn because Bancroft has already staked his claim on Benai.
Randall tries to resist his attraction to Benai, but finds it difficult. He is torn between his loyalty to his brother and his desire for Benai.
Benai finds it hard to believe that Randall really wants to be with her because she doesn't fit his ideal woman, but she finds it hard to resist her desire for Randall.
This was such a good story and I really felt bad for Randall, while he struggles with trying to do the right thing.
I really love this series and can't wait for the next book.

I enjoyed this more than "Nights of Desire". It'd be 3.5 stars but I'm feeling generous tonight, and I'm giving 0.5 point more.
