Cosmic Horror Monthly, Issue 19, January 2022 Reviews

Great issue! I read it cover to cover and enjoyed every story immensely!
-
Laird Barron does a Baron Munchausen trick here, with a single story elevating the issue above the morass of mediocrity. OK, there is also a neat interview with Wendy N. Wagner.

*Full disclosure - I was published in this issue*
This issue covers a wide range of weird fiction and cosmic horror, including a classic tale ("The Plattner Story") by H.G. Wells, and a brand-new post-apocalyptic story ("Uncoiling") by Laird Barron, which is a fantastic, fast-paced read with a good balance of action, dialogue that is at times witty and snarky, and believable characters.
Other tales include:
"A Faithful Rendering", by Geoff Gander
"A Gift", by Connor Matthew
"Demodorum", by Erik McHatton
"The Singular", by M. Stern
"He Who Looks Through Trees", by N.C. Krueger
"Into Chaos", by Ethan K. Lee
"What They Don't Tell You About Santa's Sack", by Matt Bliss
"The Sound of the Stars", by A.P. Sessler
Also included is an interview with Nightmare Magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Wendy Wagner.
I won't go into each story in depth, but there will be something for everyone in this issue - and this will be the case for other issues, as well. Highly recommended! -
I loved "The Sound of the Stars" but that's about it.
