Coach (Campus Cravings, #1) Reviews

  • Daisiemae

Coach is the first book in the Campus Craving series. It is your typical Carol Lynne book. It is a very easy, fast-paced read with not a lot of angst, but I still enjoyed it and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I really rate it 3.5 stars, but I will bump it up to 4.

Justin has been a high school coach for 5 years. Because of his profession, he lives firmly in the closet for fear of losing his job and good reputation. When Justin meets Luc, the star of his football team's father, he is immediately attracted to him.

To both Justin's horror and delight, Luc is giving him signals and being openly flirtatous with him making Justin question his decision to protect his career by hiding his homosexuality and taking a chance on the handsome Luc. But, it is a huge risk that he doesn't know if he can take, no matter how irresistable he finds Luc.

Luc has been attracted to Justin ever since he first laid eyes on him. Successful, handsome and open about his sexuality, he understands why Justin has to be discreet, but how can they ever have anything serious if Justin isn't willing to take a chance?

    3 stars!

Having recently discovered my interest in football, I was happy to discover that this series is focusing on my new topic of interest and I was looking forward to reading it. This first installment is very short and we are meeting Justin, a closeted high school football coach, who is unable to resist the tempation in form of Luc, his star running back's father any longer.

I definitly enjoyed the setting and the general plot - unfortunately, the story is very short and doesn't leave enouh room for the character development needed for such a big plot. I am however looking forward to meeting Luc and Justin again in the second installment of the series, which is going to focus on Luc's sun Max.

    ^^ SHORT & SWEET^^

So at first I was like what the hell, this e-book is only 33pgs. I thought i would be disappointed and disatisfied with it but boy was I wrong. It moved nicely and everything was cleared up quick quick.

So Justin is a football coach and sexually frustrated, he's gay and lives in a small town so his sexuality has to be kept on the down low. That doesn't stop him from lusting after one of the football players father. Justin wants Luc and he wants him bad!

Bing Bang Boom a relationship starts, they fall in love things move quickly, the town finds out he's gay things go sour. Overall a fun little read, I think its just a quick intro to the whole Campus Cravings series because if they are all that short I might yell expletives at my ereader, because I enjoyed Carol Lynne's writing. So I want to continue the series.

It was a 3 on the PL(Pants Losing)scale. I almost lost them completely.

Was this the cheesiest story I've ever read? Maybe not, but it was damn close. The dialogue was so cringe worthy that I was actually embarrassed for the author while reading it. Also, every major moment of the story was told to readers after the fact rather than allowing us to experience it with the characters; it was like the author just couldn't be arsed to write the difficult scenes.

    Lame.

  • Dina

Cute, sexy and sweet! Julian and Luc's relationship progressed at the speed of lightning, but that was expected considering this book has only 33 pages. Nice read for a dateless Saturday. (Yes, this "review" is as short as the story, LOL.)

    2.6 Stars

Wow, that was a whole lot of story crammed into such a short book...and unfortunately everything suffered for it. The characters, the relationship, the drama - all of it felt rushed and completely superficial.

  • Sheri

    Short & sweet.
Love the courage, love the football team, would love to read more!

    *3.5 no, I can't-yes, I can stars*

I loved this book! Sweet romance, smexy lovin', and football. Perfect. I plan to read the rest of the series ASAP!!!

A rather sweet, if short, m/m romance. It's only 33 pages so it takes you all of a half hour or so to read. I was bored and poking through my ebooks, decided to give this one a try. It was pretty good. Not really great, but not bad.

The story is based on a high school football coach, Justin, and the father of one of his players, Luc. The two have been attracted to each other for years, but neither really thought the other was gay. Luc's son, Max (a player on the team) gives them a nudge and it's not long before they are tumbling into bed and into love. But Justin wants them to keep their relationship quiet. He's pretty sure he'll lose his coaching job if they "come out." So Luc agrees to stay under the radar for a little while...but unfortunately, secrets have a way of getting out and they're forced to deal with it.

I enjoyed the tenderness in this story; it was very sweet and nice to read. Since it was such a short story it ends up being very simplified. Which didn't make me NOT like the book, but made me wish there was more to the story.

I'm still not sure I like author Carol Lynne's writing style. This is the second books of hers I've read and both have felt very superficial in many ways. Plus, the sex scenes are rather short. There's just something about her writing that doesn't flip my switch. But I don't hate it so I'll probably read something by her again.

Simple, short, and oh so happy. Sweet little read to make you smile

It's been a while since I met a book that infuriated me this much.

An All Amercan Boys story. Justin is the young coach of the high school football team. He is a good coach and he is gay. And these two things can't work in the little town where he lives, so he has decided to live in the closet and since five years he has not never had a lover. But his heart throbs for Luc, the father of one of his student. And now Luc has a stunning news for Justin: he is gay and he wants Justin in his life. But the town is not ready to have a gay coach near its sons...

Justin and Luc are very plain and simple characters. They fall in love, they make love, they decide to live together, everything in a smooth way without drama or trouble. Drama and trouble are outside their home and could be a difficult situation. But Carol Lynne has decided to manage the situation with sharp edges and all ends fine, like in a very american dream.

A short story from the new erotic publisher Total E-Bound. A good beginning, not extraordinaire, but satisfying.

About 2.5 stars. The length of the story just didn't do it for me. I liked Justin and Luc but talk about a whirlwind romance. They are attracted to each other for 4 years but when they finally do decide to go on a date, they are groping each other under the table within 2 minutes of sitting down. Too fast for me. This series starts off weak, but by the time I am posting this review, I have already read through book 9 and it gets much better.

  • Kendra T

Fast paced, but it worked for he short story. Justin is a high school football coach, and the father of one of his students asks him out. I felt that a bit of the story was skipped over, and we didn't really get to feel the connection growing between the guys. The story would just jump to them being together "everyday for the last few weeks". The drama about being found out sucked, but the story worked out well. It was an OK book for me.

  • Finnegan

Justin is a sports coach, and he had a long time crush on one of his player's Dad. He works with kids, so he can not come out of the closet. Yet, after four years of pining, he acts on the attraction. Insta-love and zero angst ensued, where all the intriguing things happen off-page. Even their love-making was so mechanical, I had to stop all the time to again remind myself who is Justin and who is Luc and why do I still read this.

I bought the series a long time ago but didn't read it. Well, I decided to start reading it. Didn't know the books were (what is a shorter version of a novella?) so short. Took about 20 mins to read. Story was short but sweet. Perhaps the whole series should have been in one book. Bit on the predictable side. It was OK.

  • Ale Rivero

Amé a Justin y Luc!!!

  • Nic

A short story so there is little time for developing the characters and things progress really quickly. Enjoyable read.

  • Ed Davis

It was an ok short story. Not really very realistic and it’s hard to write a complicated plot in so few words.

  • Ligaro

I tried to re-read this book/series because I was desperate for a college-themed book ... unfortunately, my original review still stands and is applicable to the next book in the series.

    Original review...

I really don't know why I do this to myself...I've read Carol Lynne before and I'm always disappointed with her books...she takes a really good premise with interesting characters and delivers the reader a shallow, two-dimensional version of what could be a great book with more words and effort...they aren't my thing at all...so, because it was my fault for buying this drivel, I've tried to award stars based on the quality of the book. This book is okay. It is formulaic, unrealistic, too-saccharine, fluff...if that's what you're looking for, then go for it...if you like the premise but want a story with slightly more meat on it's bones, try the

That was a little painful. It wasn't bad per say but too much telling and not enough showing. Things went way to quickly and I just didn't feel any emotional connection what-so-ever. And they talk like cheesy romance characters, not like real people. Lastly, the big drama wasn't realistic to me But of course everything wrapped up perfectly with an itty-bitty bow. Hope the next ones are better since they're longer.

Campus Cravings Vol. 1: On the field, #1-3

This is the first in the Campus Cravings series by Carol Lynne and can be read in about 30 minutes or less. It features Justin, a high school football coach and Luc, the father of Max, who is the main character of the second book. Justin and Luc have eyed each other from a distance for four years and at the end of Maximum's senior year, the three finally go out for pizza and Justin and Luc finally reveal their feelings. They have to be very secretive about it because Justin would likely lose his job as a high school football coach due to prejudices. Of course, they are discovered and when Justin informs his superiors, he loses his job, but things work out for the best for all of them in the end.

Nice start for a series though I don't see me reading #2 just yet. This is about Justin, a high school football coach, who falls in love with one of his players dad, Luc. As with all of this author's stories that I have read, everything happens rather quickly.... from discovering the couple "likes" each other to moving on to the more serious stuff. Max is Luc's son and the star player on Justin's football team. The second story is centered around Max. Considering he is a kid in this story, I'm not quite ready to see him with his own HEA.

This was a short quick read that was a good read. For five years Justin has repressed his sexuality because he is a high school football coach in a small town. For the last four years he has been eyeing one of his player's father's Luc. This was a straight to the point read and I wanted more of this book. Luc has also been eyeing Justin but because his Max is on the team he has been trying to keep his attraction to himself. I loved how his son Max was on his side and was playing match maker. This book had a few errors in it, but I am looking forward to reading more of this author's work.

This is a very cute, fast moving story about a high school football coach and the dad of his star football player. I really enjoyed it but with only 30 pages it was hard to become invested in the characters. They go from 0 to "in-love" in the blink of an eye and I have a hard time with that. I understand it's a short but I still prefer a little sexual tension.

With that said, I will still probably read the next book....lol

Both Justin and Luc were very likable and sweet characters. Being just under 50 pages it is hard to review this story other than to say I liked the author and characters. It is just an introduction, for me, really. The writing was light and sweet and kept the pages turning. Nice coffee-break read.

Pretty good start to a series. Shorter but with a couple of great characters. I liked them both just fine - and the sex was pretty hot. Although it should not have felt like insta-love it kind of did which set it down 1 star because it was just so quick. I'm looking forward to reading the next one!

    cute short story.
