After a hellish divorce at 48, I’m ready for a new life.
But I just found out this isn’t the only one I’ve lived.

My husband sent pics of his eggplant to every woman in Florida,
And once I caught on, it was time to divorce the pig.
I packed up the RV we’d planned to drive cross-country together,
And headed off on an adventure, all on my own.
I rolled to a stop in Carlton after finding a paramedic job,
But it felt like déjà vu when I met the hunky fire chief,
And a fiery blaze ignited between us instantly.
I can’t shake the feeling we’ve met before,
And when a medium unlocks the secret to my past with August,
This little midlife adventure of mine turns into a straight up freak show.
You see, even though he looks about fifty,
August is a six-hundred-year-old dragon.
And my husband from a past life.

Steamy shifter love scenes and an HEA inside! No cheating or cliffhanger in this standalone romance. Readers 18+.

This one was interesting. I liked the history that Lisa and August had, liked that neither of them had a closed mind to it, but took time to let the info sink in. Then they went with their feelings, as they should. It was also great to see both of them get the back up they needed from important people in their lives.

August is the fire chief and meets Lisa at an emergency, the home of the rival clan's Alpha but what he found will stick in his memory for a while plus he may have to bleach his eyes out. August looks at Lisa and his dragon is sure that he knows her from somewhere before. Like she is familiar to him. With the help of friends and colleagues in their town, they are able to work out the mystery. until a danger from August's past comes back to haunt him. Loved the characters and the series as a whole. cant get enough of them. This author is a great story teller.

An enjoyable read with Shifters and mates, and trouble around every corner. Nothing will keep these mates apart except miscommunication.

The pages kept turning because I wanted to know what happened.

These books are quick and easy reads.

Keeping a secret has never been so big.

This is the sixth book in the Shifter Nation: Fated Over Forty series, but is the first book that I have read from this author and I am more than happy that I discovered Meg Ripley, as this book was definitely a great example of her creative skill and talent.
In this book we meet 600 year old Dragon shifter August Hill a Fire chief in the small town of Charlton, and Lisa Perez a human paramedic who has newly arrived in the town.

August, originally from the north of England, has travelled the earth for 600 years after suffering the tragic loss of his human wife Isolda and his clan in a fire set by rival dragons out of spite for something they believed that he and his fellow clan of dragons have done. After years of roaming he has set down roots in Charlton where a local clan of Bear shifters have adopted him as an honorary member, and where he is now Fire Chief.

Lisa (now in her forties) is recently divorced from her cheating ex husband who had treated her badly for years. In addition to this she has recently suffered the loss of her mother which she is still coming to terms with. As her son Reuben is now graduating from college and setting out on his own, Lisa decides it’s a great time to travel the country in her RV and reclaim her independence, living a carefree life on the road. She has made a temporary stop in Charlton where she joins the local emergency service as a Paramedic.

When August and Lisa meet at randomly bizarre emergency call, sparks fly as both of them are instantly attracted to each other. As they meet at further emergency call encounters their attraction quickly escalates and they begin a passionate physical relationship of sorts. However, both August and Lisa begin to realise that this is not just a casual attraction but something much deeper. Both are experiencing a deeper connection, a sense of deja vu that they can’t seem to explain.

August feels a sense of his lost wife Isolda when he is with Lisa, whilst Lisa is having strange dreams of perishing in a flames of a fire, and an inexplainable connection to August that she doesn’t understand.

When a meeting with local Medium Kelly, and a session of past life regression with Lisa, sheds some light on the meaning of Lisa’s strange dreams, her connection to August becomes surprising clear.

But while August and Lisa finally seem to be moving forward with their burgeoning romance, a dangerous enemy of the dragon kind from Augusts past threatens to derail their happiness. Will their new found connection and love survive this?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, filled with humour, action, danger, passion and intrigue. The characters are both complex and endearing, and right from the start there is a sense of willing these two reunited soulmates to finally get together. This certainly helps prove that love transcends time. I would definitely recommend this book and I will be seeking out more titles by this author.

    Mates Across Time and Space

I've listened to almost every book in this series as it has come out, and except for one book, I’ve enjoyed each of them. This book is no exception. I think part of the appeal is that the stories feature an older couple, not those in the first flush of youth or their first relationship. So, each half of the duo comes to their story with a complex backstory that has molded them, and therefore, affects their future relationship. The author chose a fascinating backstory for this couple that utterly charmed me. I've been a student of metaphysics for decades, and the author incorporated this in a fantastic way—and very believably if you believe in reincarnation, spirit guides, and the Akashic record. The male dragon shifter has lived for centuries, and he's never quite gotten over losing his human wife to fire back in the Middle Ages. He is haunted by images and memories of her centuries later. Despite this, the hero—and his dragon—is drawn to the heroine immediately in a way that hasn't happened to him since the loss of his wife. He can't quite understand their instant, potent attraction. The heroine has dreams of being trapped in a fire, nightmares that come to her each evening as she seemingly relives different parts of the full story. Despite her nightly terrors, she confronts them daily as an EMT often called to fire scenes. She's new to the area, recently passed an unpleasant divorce from her unfaithful husband. Her son is now grown and on his own, so her second act will be truly hers, and she sets off in an RV to live her new life. Both have quite a bit to sort through as they figure out their feelings and pasts—and whether they want to go down this new road together, knowing what they know. Thankfully, the author didn't throw in any extraneous road bumps or make the story over-angsty. The necessary roadblocks felt natural to the story and the characters. There's also an external villain from the hero's distant past. I loved how the heroine was able to protect and assist her man, even though she is a human going up against a mighty old dragon! An excellent story with delightful characters. Highly recommended.

I do have a quibble with the narrator. The author has used the same male narrator throughout this series. I think he does a good job portraying the usually gritty male shifters in these stories, adding just enough acting to keep up the pace without being distracting. I happen to be from the Pacific Northwest where this story takes place, and I take exception to how he pronounced a restaurant! The author chose an actual popular PNW chain for this restaurant, and even though the word is only two syllables long, the narrator manages to completely mispronounce it! This one would be such a simple thing to get right, one that would have taken him less than 5 seconds to sort out. Just call one of the chain’s outlets and listen to how they pronounce it!

I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

Meg Ripley has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Lisa and August. August is a 600-year-old Dragon who has lost everything. He is now the fire chief for the little town of Carlton. The fire department is out on a call but it is not a fire. The call is to get another Alpha out of a set of handcuffs his mistress has lost the key for. The paramedics are also called and when August sees the new paramedic, he feels an attraction to her. When he goes up to meet her and they touch, it starts to bring back memories for August from a long time ago about his mate who died in a fire. Lisa is the new paramedic and she feels the connection to August and doesn't know why. She has dreams of being in a fire with no way out. Lisa and August start out as friends but after Lisa goes to see a Medium and is shown her past life, she knows that she and August are connected in some way. She doesn't know how are why. She tells August what she was shown and he tells her the story of their lives together. At first, she is unsure about August and him being a dragon. She tells him that she has to sort things out. When she finally decides to give August a chance, she goes to his cabin and she sees him in his dragon fighting with another dragon, Adam. Adam has been after August for a long time. Adam thinks that August is the reason his brother Harry was killed and he wants August to pay for his brother's death. When Adam sees Lisa, he goes after her but August stops him. Adam gets a chance to take August out but Lisa sees this and goes after Adam with an ax and hits her mark. This gives August the time he needs to take Adam out for good since he knows if he doesn't, Adam will come after him again.
Will Lisa take the chance with August?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

This book had it all from dreams, past lives, danger, déjà vu, flashbacks, divorce and love. Lisa has just divorced her cheating ex husband and takes off in the RV they planned to travel around in and so now she is free to do what she wants and as a paramedic she stops for work and now here she is in Carlton as the new paramedic in town and going out on a job she meets the sexy fire chief August who she is drawn to instantly but doesn’t know why. August is the Fire Chief and is out on the job when he meets the gorgeous new paramedic in town Lisa he feels he knows her but when they touch he has flashbacks to a time when he had his mate Isolda who he lost in a fire could she be his mate and can he have a second chance at love. They start a world wind romance that takes Lisa to a medium who tells her of her past life with August a dragon shifter who is over 600yrs old and when she goes to see him he is in his dragon form fighting with another dragon and she cannot let him die but he turns and comes for her but August stops him and it doesn’t look good for him until Lisa grabs an axe and kills him. Can they have there HEA or is it to much for Lisa and she leaves. What happens next get this book to find out.

What I enjoy most about reading a series book is that it can double as a standalone. August Hill’s story is part of a series yet it can be a standalone. Our grumpy old dragon has quite an interesting history to tell and it is revealed as a middle aged divorce paramedic comes to Carlton, Oregon. All Lisa Perez wants is a life she chooses and not one of obligation or expectation. Plus it helps if her man is not a disrespecting unfaithful jerk. So sloughing off the garbage of an unhappy marriage with one kid grown, Lisa gets an eye awakening experience. Her nightmares are not predictions but of a past trauma. Many great lines and some really deep moments as one explores their souls and history. A great ending to their story about destiny, fate, true love, patience and openness.

I really enjoyed reading this new addition to the Over Forty series. This is another one of the author’s human and shifter romances but this one extends over a long period of time. The main characters are very complex as they are both struggle to find their places at this time in their lives.

Lisa and August both hav very stressful jobs as a paramedic and fire chief. When they meet but they immediately feel something for one another. Along their journey of ups, downs, happiness, sadness, elation, and nightmares you are along for a roller coaster ride. You also get the addition of an old enemy. Lively, lovely, interesting read.

    2.5⭐️ (rounded up)

It was fine. The bloody fight to the death at the end was very jarring.

The Latina rep leaves much to be desired.

A single mention of an Abuelo and a single sentence where Lisa calls her son “mijo” is all we get, in terms of heritage or culture. Lisa is never given a specific cultural or ethnic identity and the surface-level, vague approach to her identity makes me question why the author wanted to make her Latina in the first place ? It’s isn’t necessarily offensive but it is odd and lazy.

I did, also, find their love story to be a bit lovely and bittersweet and I think this may be the best installment in the series.

CW: explicit sexual content, grief, dead loved ones, references to past murders, references to past infidelity, violence, blood, on-page murder

    Reincarnation?

August didn’t know what to think when he met Lisa the new paramedic. He had been alone for centuries and his dragon couldn’t let the thought of her go.

Lisa is living her best life any way she wants after her divorce. Carlton was meant to be a pit stop along the way on her journey. August was unexpected. Their connection confusing. As she learns her nightmares are a past life she will never be the same.

Does she have the courage to try again? Can they defeat the past.

August and Lisa are amazing characters who have both overcome hardships and trying to find their HEA. This is another amazing couple in the Carleton world.

The characters in this Fated Over Forty series are fabulous. As an over forty reader it is always nice to see books that include our age range, after all we wish for romance at our age too.
The world that is being built around the small town of Carlton progresses as well as the characters get more developed with each addition to this series.
August finds his soul mate after many years after he lost his mate Isolda in the new paramedic Lisa that has just arrived in town. The more they interact the more they fall in love. Excited to read what the future holds for them next.

After years together Lisa calls it quits after learning of her husband's philandering. Getting as far away as possible she gets in her RV and just goes. She ends up in Carlon working as a paramedic she often finds herself working side by side with the local FD. She has an immediate connection with the fire chief, August. Though he has never met Lisa before something calls to him. The story that unfolds between the two of them is a one in a million chance of reconnecting with their soul mate.
A constant nightmare of Lisa's becomes clearer as their souls are reunited.

    Brilliant read as always Meg.

    Murder

The Johnston clan has caused many problems throughout this series, but the first scene in this book is a doozy. Lisa meets August during this scene and jokes with him about meeting him in a past life. Then, they run into each other at another call. His Dragon is calling out for her, reminding him of his mate he lost hundreds of years ago. When Lisa finds out she knew August in a past life, he tells her about their life and his dragon. But another dragon from backbthen is out for August. Are any of them safe from this new threat?
Each of these books follows one couple's journey to love. The characters carry over into other books, with very few typos or trigger issues.

    A Twisted Fate -
This instant attraction during a chance meeting between Lisa and August, leads to unexpected surprises and discovering an interwoven destiny. What more could I want in this delightful romance story of a reincarnated love. This was such a touching love story, that had me in tears as I turned the pages, but also rooting for August and Lisa to find peace and a forever happiness together. I really enjoyed reading this fantastic story so much, that I binge read it in a few short hours.

Lisa is doing what she wants after her divorce so she bought a RV and moved to Carlton a small town, when she meets August she thinks that she has met him before she can’t remember from where but she is very attracted to him.
