This wasn't as good as the first book for me. I usually love the best friend's little sister trope, and while this was cute and plenty steamy, I was a little underwhelmed.
I did really like Jake and his heartfelt commitment to Dani. He was very male and very ready to make things real. There was a bit of miscommunication between him and Dani, especially at one point where I felt like hitting them, but thankfully this was low on drama and without excessive angst. I liked Dani from the first book but she was a little obtuse at times, but I could say the same for Jake, so who knows.
This was very steamy like I said, but still...the first book just resonated with me and this one didn't quite reach that caliber of emotional intensity. It was still a good book and gave me a nice glimpse of Rafe and Liv, so I'm glad for that. Still debating whether I'll read Ryan's story...We'll see. -
Meh love story.
Their time apart was pointless and Jake just wasted useless time. He was only 8 yrs older than her not 20 yrs, such a big deal was made of this nothing much age difference to keep these "soulmates" apart for so many years. He was spineless and we're supposed to believe he was madly in love with her all those years. Baloney!
Jake was a horse's ass in my opinion. He lost me with the other woman business. -
This book has everything I like in a good story. Jake and Rafe are best friends but Jake is in love with Rafe's little sister Dani. Jake pushes his feelings aside because of their age difference and how their families will react. Dani has also always had feelings for Jake. This book had it all - a very sweet romance, great connected characters, minor drama with no silly misunderstandings, and really great steamy scenes. I am a big fan of the best friends sister type story and this is probably one of the best I have ever read - you just can't help but love Jake. He's such a good guy! I love that this book wasn't high on angst and Jake and Dani had amazing chemistry. I am loving this series and can't wait for Ryan's story next! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great romance!

4,25 stars - Free Ebook - I have dyslexia -
These romance between Jake and Dani is long overdo. They dance arround each other for more than 5 years . High time that is gone change, Dani thinks. This novel is part of a series. All books can be read independently from each other. I did get some red ears you could say of this book. 😁😁😁 -
I think Jake and Dani might possibly be my favorite book couple ever!! The chemistry between them is so intense! You get a taste of these two in Love in a Small Town, but this one can be read as a stand alone. It is very addicting and I read it in one sitting. I strongly recommend reading!!

This was a really sweet and romantic - falling for the best friend’s little sister - story , I’m so glad that I got into this series . This is the first one I’ve read from this author and I’m really loving her writing.
This book starts right after book 1. The Funeral of Lynn. Emotions are running high , specially between Jake (33 years ) and Dani (25 years ).
So how did it all begin ?
Jake (Rafe’s best friend from book 1) started to fall for Dani (Rafe’s sister) when she was still a 17 year old girl and he was a 25 year old man ,, see the problem there ? :D
He was disturbed by his own feelings for her , even though she did have a crush on him at the time , so of course he does the right thing and tries to lock up those feelings.
But just before she goes to college , he has an opening with her , but still she’s 20 , he’s 28 , she’s going to college and he’s going to own his business , it still wasn’t the right time in his mind .
“Go back to college. Forget that your brother’s friend is a dirty old man who likes the way your hips look in blue jeans.”
Danni comes back from college with a boyfriend , and it’s hard for Jake so when an opportunity to go to Afghanistan presents itself he takes it .. and so on , it just was never a good time for them , they both dated , her more than him according to Jake . But their feelings for each other was always just under the surface.
Forward to the present (Start of the book ). and they are both sick of denying themselves what they both want but were always afraid to have. I really genuinely loved both characters. They were real and vulnerable and they loved each other so much.
It was amazingly refreshing having Jake be the one to not want their relationship to be kept in the dark for so long . He was the one that got insecure first about what was happening between them , he wanted it all , and I adored him for that. He knew she was it for him and he didn’t want to wait to announce that , despite the storm that was supposedly waiting for him from her three brothers .
“Should we talk about that? What all we want?”
“I want you,” he said, his voice rough. “All of you.”
“You’ve got me.”
So now comes the part about OM/OW in the story and because this WILL contain spoilers I will tag this part. but for those who don’t want spoilers to the story I’m going to say this . From the start of the book , neither of them kiss/sleep..etc with anyone else.
But because there is a lot of things I wanted to say about that I’m gonna tag the next part of the review :
So again , Loved the characters and the writing ! And even though the next book is not my kind of story [ Hero with a dead wife ] , I will probably be reading it , that’s how much I’m coming to trust the writing of this author . -
DNF! Just didn't hold my attention. Not the characters or the story!

I fell in love with this series with book one...
Love in a Small Town... so book two was a must read and it did not disappoint. Dani and Jake had the steam rolling off the pages and melting the snow away... very sexy read!
Jake has always been attracted to Dani since she was in high school and it bothered him because he knew he was too old for her. Not to mention, she has a few brothers that would not approve! Especially in this small town where everyone knows everything about everybody.
He forced himself to walk away from her but was never able to really move on to anyone else. Sometimes the needs of the heart overpowers the logic of the mind. The heart wants what it wants...
Turns out, all they really needed was time. Now that Dani is all grown up, she and Jake find themselves facing a truth that has long been kept under lock and key and they finally decide to take a chance on each other despite the consequences. I loved watching this couple finally come together after so many years of waiting and longing. And, they were such a great couple.
Jake is definitely ready to settle down and start a family... will Dani want the same thing? This is where the story really won me over because what started out as an intense sexual coming together... eventually led to Jake having doubts about what Dani really wanted from him. This is where the emotions become real and their relationship is truly tested.
The story also picks up where it left off in book one with the tragic death of a friend and we also get to participate in the final Happily Ever After of Olivia and Rafe... they are still my favorite couple so far in the series. Just love those guys...
So, another great read in the Pine Harbour series... and I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment!
Many thanks to the author for the complimentary ARC!

Yet another cheesy cover with a very sweet romance behind it. Zoe York's Love in a Snow Storm is recommended for anyone who enjoys a small-town romance without too much melodrama, just a lot of long-buried emotion and real conflicts and a couple that actually acts like they're in love.
Though York did occasionally beat the "omg, he's so masculine" drum -I get it; when people are attracted, they emphasize, even exult, perceived differences- especially about his looks, I liked that Jake was such a "girl," as his brothers put it. It's the male lead who dreams about his wedding. Love that. Through little hints like these, both Dani and Jake were characterized well, Jake more reticent about his feelings and serious and Dani less experienced in relationships and requiring clue-by-fours to know when he's upset, which is a dynamic I've seen off the page. I loved that role reversal and that Dani and Jake were so into each other. Somehow, Jake did not end up looking like a stalker despite being into her when she was a teen and he was 25 -probably because he seems so cognizant of the issues- and despite all the furtive photo-taking. Somehow. Also enjoyed the family dynamics!
With all due respect to self-pubbed authors -I haven't read many, so that colors my views- it's rare to find a self-pubbed author so well-edited -and I don't mean proofreading, I mean a tight plot and pace- or with such a smooth, sleek style. Probably a lot of traditionally published books don't fall into that category either. Luckily, I'm coming to this series late, so there are plenty more books in the set! I'm not sure I'll like the more "macho" male leads as much, but will check out the other books!
PS. I picked this up because of the EMT heroine, yay! And the
Valentine's Rewind Blog Hop, which is also where I picked up a couple others. -
This sexy small town romance is the story of Dani and Jake. Dani's had a crush on Jake forever, but the 8 years separating them and the fact that he's her brother's best friend has meant she's spent a long time trying to get him out of her system. But when Jake is finally ready to ante up and show Dani that he's not going to run from his feelings for her anymore, is it too little too late?
I loved this story! Zoe has the knack of creating characters that the reader wants to know about - their hopes, their loves, their dreams and their failures. Though Dani started out with a teenage crush on Jake, it's morphed into something much more adult and finally (finally!) Jake admits to himself that he can't resist her pull anymore. I really liked that Dani was comfortable showing Jake that she wasn't a kid, that their love scenes were between two mature consenting adults. (and yes, those love scenes are steamy!). In any relationship there is the dynamic of family in the background, and with these two, that's a significant part of the story - how it affects them and how they deal with it is part of the attraction of the story for me. There are so many characters to like in this town, shared with us via witty dialogue and friendly camaraderie, with laughter and tears. Pine Harbour is a town everyone should visit. 5 stars for this entertaining and sexy read! -
ARCs will be available next week! And the prologue is up on my website now:

dnf at 9% Enough with the lusting over 'creamy skin'. This is the second book in the series and unless you have read the first you will probably (as I did) have no idea who any of the myriad characters are.

Love In A Snow Storm blew me away. Zoe York brings us two people who have known each other for so long. A forebidden attraction.
Dani Minelli had an attraction for his brother best friend Jake Foster. Pine Harbour was a small town, and Jake knew Dani liked him. If anything happened between them the whole town would talk. He put a stop to anything she might have any thoughts of happening between them.
After Jake comes back from being in the army, and Dani comes home from college he still has feelings which resurface. He could never act on those feelings, because that was his best friends little sister.. He was older for one thing..
Now that they're back home will they reach out to each other, and act on those feelings, which so long ago were strong
in her heart? She wondered if he would have kissed her that night? Did he have feelings for her?
The thing is right now too much is going on, and it's maybe not the right time. But when is? She can't get hurt again.
Well maybe just maybe she'll give it one more chance?
Buy this book...Trust me you will want to see what happen with Jake and Dani..
Read Love In A Small Town which kicks the Series off..You won't be sorry. -
After having read the first 20 pages I pondered whether I should continue or not. I decided to read further, but it did not get any better.
I haven't read part 1 of the series, therefore some characters seemed out of place at first, but you get to know them soon enough. Well, actually you don't really get to know them, but you are introduced.
This is the problem I have with the book: The characters are all flat. Even the protagonists Dani and Jake. They seem like teenagers which can never get enough of each other, but you don't really get the impression that they have complex feelings.
Nevertheless, the situation (big brother's best mate falls for the young sister) is interesting and has potential, but the book could not live up to that. -
Loved this one!!! Fantastic writing, great small town romance that you won't be able to put down. While it's the second in a series it is easily read standalone, although I recommend you grab the first one too.
Jake and Dani have always had an incredible attraction. Dani has wanted him since she was seventeen. He has always known Dani is off limits. The little sister of his best friend. A friendship he doesn't want to risk. She's back in Pine Harbour, all grown up and maybe, just maybe, worth risking it all. You'll want to read this one, I highly recommend it. -
This book is the second book in this new series. I loved it . It is always fun to have old characters return and to see what they are up to and seeing Rafe an Olivia have the HEA was beautiful. And then to meet Jake and Dani again amazing. Their storyline developed quickly and although there were a few bumps along the road they navigated them all smoothly. From the first you could feel his love for her and it was just WOW! So so very good.
-
Ok, the consensus is in...
I AM SO HOOKED TO THIS SERIES!!!
Zero to no drama, hot men, awesome ladies...I mean, what more can I ask for?
Jake & Dani gave it to us straight, no chaser.
Although there was eight years of secret pining for one another, when the truth is revealed, it's no holds bar. And I freaking loved that! I had no time for stupid drama and more time apart. They dove in head first and came up for air together! <3
Now, I am DYING for Ryan's story...!!!! -
another story with great potential
started off well enough with a good bit of angst for both Dani and Jake
but then ... it seemed like they spent the five years after kinda-sorta declaring they were digging each other to playing keep-away for lame reasons - he felt she was too young, she thought he didn't like her, she brought home a boyfriend, he ran way on a deployment, he didn't want to make trouble with her brothers & his brothers (not sure why his brothers would care as much as her brothers)
then they FINALLY get together, but now she doesn't want to tell anyone (doesn't want people ruining it or whatever) and instead of approaching it as an adult and communicating, he throws a bit of a tantrum. even when people find out, GASP, it's not a big deal!
anyway, so, I could get over all that and focus on the romance BUT there were a few things that really chipped away huge chunks of the romance and, by the end, I had a scowl instead of a smile -

Love in a Snow Storm is the second book in the Pine Harbour series, by Zoe York. Jake Foster has been in love with Dani Minelli for a very long time since she was a high school senior. However, as much as he longs for Dani, he won’t act on them as in his mind, she is off limits, for the simple fact that she is his best friend's younger sister.
"Never fall in love with your best friend’s little sister"
Dani Minelli has been in love with Jake Foster for a very long time, a high school crush that has long since turned into something more. Now older and wiser Dani wants to show Jake that she not off limits anymore. Jake and Dani soon discover that being just friends is not enough, they can’t hide their feelings anymore.
“Dani had never met anyone who could light her on fire the way Jake had”
I loved this story, love alpha men who fight for the one they loved, it make have taken a while but Jake was this man!! Dani was his forever, his whole world and he was hers. Jake and Dani are such a great together, so connected, so loving, and so understanding. It's a long time coming and I love that they both are slightly nervous as if they can’t believe that after all this time it is really happening
“We’ve got a thing between us. Not sex. Something unavoidable and deeper than that”
Overall Love in a Snow Storm is the fantastic sweet love story. It’s low on the drama, but has plenty of romance, humor, and oh boy let me tell you it was high on the sexy factor!!! Zoe knows how to write good steam!! Great secondary characters, especially that one called Derna!!! Loved her, she may have only had a few lines, but I can so see her in future books!! ;)
I loved reading Zoe’s book at any of the year, love her writing style, but with it winter setting this one was perfect for this time of year. I look forward to the next book, which will be Ryan’s story, and as well as keeping up with Foster and Minelli.
I highly recommend this book/ series to anyone who loves heartwarming steamy romance stories. -
Jake & Dani have grown up with their two families being interlocked as closely as two non-blood related families could be.
Dani's brothers are some of Jake's closest friends so he know first hand the steps they will take to protect their only baby sister from any guys sniffing around or trying to break her heart.
Jake's heart was imprinted by Dani's long before his conscience would allow him to attempt any action or even think to admit to her brothers of his intentions.
Dani was hooked on Jake the minute she decided that boys no longer had cooties. She just couldn't get over the idea that Jake never wanted her or that he would ever see her as anything other than his friends' little sister.
Take this journey thru the years with Jake & Dani as they dance around each other until the circle becomes so small that they cannot hold off their feelings any longer.
This story has it's HEA, but character overlap from previous and future stories. It's best to read this series in order for the best experience. -
I loved Olivia and Rafe's journey back to each other, but I think I loved Dani and Jake's story more. Two people in love with each other but no matter what they do ten years they can't connect.
Now Jake has finally put aside his fears of being to old and what her brothers will do to him, he can't stand holding back his feelings. Dani knows Jake feels something but he's always rejected her, always pushed her away. Now she wants something and that something is Jake. But once she has him will it be too much?
Love in a Snow Storm is a great story, funny, romantic, and not always smooth sailing. I really enjoyed this story, and can't wait for more. -
Like the first and third book this one was an okay read. An example of friends-to-lovers romance that had the 8 year age difference between Dani and Jake as their main stumbling block, at least it was the main one anyway. Overprotective older brothers on Dani's side was also a huge concern.
Funny thing was when all was said and done there was no big blowup from either ones family members or their friends so all the waiting for years and years was kind of really wasted. Which of course was apparent to the reader way before it was to Dani and Jake.
This was another easy read in the series for me and happy it ended on a positive note for all concerned. -
Jake has wanted Dani for as long as he can remember, but because of the age difference he knows he can't have her. Jake also knows that her brothers would kill him for touching her.
Dani knows that she belongs with Jake, but how to make him see that. They start a relationship, which they hide from everyone, but in the end Jake thinks that Dani just sees their time together as just sex and has had enough.
After some challenges, including her brothers, they realize what they have with each other and know that they love each other. -
-
I'm loving this series! Jake is the man of my dreams. Possessive, kind, caring, a little alpha male, and always trying to do the right thing by everyone but himself. The fact that he couldn't ever move on past a long time crush on his best friends sister was so sweet. I'm so happy after so many years they were able to make the necessary moves to give a relationship a go. Can't wait to hear more from them in the next book.
-
Just like book one this is a really wonderful feel good story.
This is the story of Jake and Dani. Jake has had feelings for Dani for a long time. The feeling is mutual. However there is a big obstacle. Danis older protective brothers!! Now that Dani is a few years older can these two find their happy ever after.
This book had a great storyline. The author did a wonderful job of portraying the characters as real. Looking forward to reading more. Loved it. -
Jake and Dani have loved each other for years. But Jake thinks he is too old for her and keeps his distance. Dani is afraid her brothers will kill Jake when they find out. You see Jake and Dani's brother, Rafe are best friends and Rafe expects Jake to protect Dani not romance her.
Add a pregnant ex-girlfriend to the mix and you have a recipe for a knock-down, drag-out brawl!
Great story! -
I just didn’t like the characters. The story was weak and the emphasis on the age difference got old after the fiftieth time mentioned.
