The truth is, eating disorders affect the whole person. Yet treatments often focus on emotional issues alone. In this powerful book for individuals who suffer from eating disorders and those who love them, Dr. Gregg Jantz fills in the gaps left by traditional treatment programs, tackling not only the emotional, but also the crucial and all-too-often ignored relational, physical, and spiritual dimensions of healing.
Outlining a comprehensive, holistic, and practical approach, Hope, Help, and Healing for Eating Disorders brings spiritual, relational, and physical elements back into the healing process. Described by best-selling author and physician Lendon Smith, author of Feed Your Kids Right, as “the most helpful book on eating disorders there is,” this book will, with God’s help and grace, lead readers out of their bondage to eating disorders and permanently transform lives.
Hope, Help, and Healing for Eating Disorders: A New Approach to Treating Anorexia, Bulimia, and Overeating Reviews

This book is very surface-level. It does not take into account the chronic sufferer or the seriousness of eating disorders in terms of their physical effects on the body. There's a spattering here and there about physical symptoms, but the fact is, eating disorders can be fatal.
I would recommend this book to a person in the early stages of the disease. For chronic sufferers, this book is nothing unique or groundbreaking. It's the same information one would get from an hour-long therapy session. -
I have struggled with weight my entire life. I have gone to the ultimate extreme of surgical weight loss, but it has been 15 years and I have gained back much more than I would like to admit. It was not a failed surgery as I did lose quite a bit. But I have definitely gained more than I like, and I wanted to get to the root of it and figure out what is going on in my life. I am a believer, so wanted to see if this book would help me with some Biblical principles and guidance.
It was definitely a difficult book to read, but it was well worth it. I have always been impressed by the writing by this author and knew his insights would prove beneficial and enlightening. But it was a lot harder to read than his previous books. It definitely made me look at my life and my habits, as well as my attitude and spiritual well-being in a new light. I am SO glad I went through this book and I truly learned so much from it. I don't know that I have an eating disorder, but I do have a better understanding of me and my needs.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has issues with weight, people who DO have eating disorders, and those who work with those with eating disorders. It is a wonderfully written book that will give you the guidance and insight you need to better understand and address issues, whether your own or those of others. -
That was such a heavy read for me, since it triggered memories I was trying so hard to suppress. But, I’m glad this book helped me come to terms with my eating disorder. The first step of the healing process is to acknowledge the problem.

Very helpful and crucial to my ongoing recovery. I write this to have something to come back to. A reminder. It gets better.

This book was crucial in my recovery once I was in out-patient care. Highly recommended for anyone afflicted or knows someone who ails from an Eating Disorder. It is a GREAT resource.

I picked up this book, because well, I work with teenage girls who often deal with food issues.
The book is easy to read and contains several personal stories designed to help illustrate the message that there is hope, help and healing for people dealing with disordered eating (anorexia, bulimia and more.)
Less of a self-help book, it instead is a book which is more of an overview and resource for someone wanting to get out of the pit of food addiction.
Help and hope. I feel very comfortable passing this book along to a student, or parent for that matter, impacted by food issues. -
No new approach but I do like the fact that the author applies a Christian-based model.
